Personal Description:
I am very flexible and am able to tutor students in the evenings and on weekends. I am home-based so students can visit me or take lessons through SKYPE. This flexibility suits busy students and those with other commitments who are often unable to stick to a strict regime. I have a PgDip in TESOL and am constantly looking to invent interesting new ways to teach and encourage my students.
Teaching Experience:
I have been an English language teacher for over 14 years and have worked in Greece, Japan and Indonesia as well as in the UK.
I lecture part time in higher education institutions and have worked as Assistant Director of Studies/Academic Manager of a college in Edinburgh where I ran a busy summer school.
I have helped countless students achieve and often exceed their expectations in exam classes including IELTS and TOEFL.
Tutoring Approach:
I teach on a student-centred basis and during the first meeting we will work together to create a detailed plan covering all your needs for the agreed number of lessons.
Every lesson will centre on a specific grammar point and vocabulary theme with lots of conversation and student input. My students definitely do most of the talking!
I will assess progress regularly through tests and coursework and adapt the lesson plans as appropriate.
