Personal Description:
I am a mature professional with broad portfolio career in engineering, information technology, education and commerce. A qualified Mathematics Teacher (PGCE) with over 10 years working in schools with pupils and students aged 10 through 18. My teaching career led me into the use of information technology in schools, and later into a career in IT management and the Civil Service. One of my specialist skills is programming financial trading systems. Married with 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Keen walker, especially when accompanied by our eager Jack Russell.

Teaching Experience:

My main experience has been in secondary education, teaching GCSE and A Level. However I spent a year teaching at primary level, preparing pupils for 11+ and Common Entrance. I have recently done some tutoring for GCSE. During my time in education I published a guide to help explain the basics of GCSE maths.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is traditional, with plenty of practice on the basics to build confidence and then gradually increasing the tempo to cover the more testing parts of the exam syllabus. I understand why some find it hard to understand the more abstract concepts and have a knack of explaining how best to overcome these barriers.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic, professional, patient and successful private tutor. I have a BA in History (1st Class) and a Masters in Medieval Studies (Distinction); a course jointly run by the History and English departments at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Aside from Higher Education I have 10 GCSE's A-C (including English Language (A), English Literature (A), History (B), Latin, Science and Maths). I obtained 4 A Levels in English Language, History, Psychology and General Studies as well as an AS Level in Law.

Teaching Experience:

I have a strong amount of teaching and tutoring experience - across a range of levels in both English and History:

- KS2 English
- KS3 English
- ALAN
- GCSE English Language and Literature
- As/A Level English Language, Literature and History
- Higher Education History and Academic Writing

Fortunately these have been very successful, and I have been consistently able to improve client results. Over time I have seen that the areas I am able to impact most are essay writing and exam techniques.

I also work full-time in the recruitment field and, as a result, have been able to offer help with University Personal Statements, College Applications and CV and Interview techniques, should this be required.

Previous feedback:

From Michelle (5/5): (GCSE English) "Fantastic Teacher, she is everything you could ask of an English tutor. We are so glad we found her."

From Vivien (5/5): (A-Level History) "My daughter is receiving excellent help and guidance from Rachel with both English and History AS work."

From Samantha (5/5): (GCSE English) "First Tutors helped us to find Rachel , she has helped our daughter with her English and given her alot more confidence. Rachel is very easy to talk to and get along with putting students at easy. I can't thank Rachel enough, for her help and support."

From Lynn (5/5): (A-Level History) "Rachel has been an excellent tutor for my daughter Harriet and has helped her to gain confidence and understanding in her English and History A Level course. We have been very pleased with the attention to detail and enthusiasm that Rachel gives to the subject in a relaxed and personable manner. I would highly recommend Rachel as a Tutor."

From Adam (5/5): (GCSE English) "We cant recommend Rachel strongly enough. When we first sought her help, our son was coasting through school, under-performing in English and showing no interest in changing it. With her help just once a week, he is now up to a B average - an of course this has a positive effect on so many other subjects where good English skills are required (history, RE etc). If only she covered the maths & sciences too!"

From Libby (5/5): (GCSE English) "Rachel is a very good tutor, working with my son at his speed. She has given him ideas to look at and explore in his English GCSE. I am hopeful that through her help Sam will do well this year. Sam engages with her too which is really important."

From Carol (5/5): (Secondary English) "David felt very relaxed and comfortable during his lessons with Rachel. She had put a lot of thought into them and fully addressed the problems he is having at school. After 6 lessons he already feels more confident in presenting his work in the way it is required by the school. He left each lesson feeling very positive. He will be continuing his lessons with Rachel."

From Clare (5/5): (Secondary English) "We have been extremely pleased with Rachel's tutoring. Rachel has understood Bronti's needs and taught her the correct level of English. Rachel makes the lessons interesting, whilst also challenging in a way that isn't obvious to Bronti."

From Sue (5/5): (A-Level English) "Dear Rachel, Thank you very much for all the help you have given Alex so far with her AS studies, in particular English and essay writing. She is becoming much more confident and positive about approaching homework tasks and felt she coped well with her first exam today due to the preparation sessions with you over the Xmas holidays. Compared to when she started I would say she is much happier now about her English studies, which is great. I am delighted with the change in her motivation and she is very keen to continue working with you on improving her essay writing techniques. Once again many thanks"

Tutoring Approach:

I practice what I preach - and I believe that this comes across in my tutoring. I absolutely love learning and studying. I am an enthusiastic person who genuinely wants to help people achieve their potential in their desired field and take great pride in the successes my clients have achieved after sessions with me.

Sessions are relaxed and informal; I create a friendly environment where people want to learn and feel comfortable doing so. I try to be as flexible as possible; I am happy to ramp up the sessions in the run up to exams, but also to scale back during quieter periods and also change days/times on an ad hoc basis. I encourage my tutees to contact me outside of sessions if they ever need any help - you don't have to wait a whole week to speak to me again!

There is, however, a formal element to learning and I do expect commitment and homework will be set on a regular basis (as long as there is capacity alongside school/college/university commitments).

It's not a case of 'one size fits all' and I enjoy working with my clients to help them to understand their best style of learning and to adapt my teaching style as required. Sessions with me can often mean going through past papers and helping with homework to fun quizzes and games!

On the whole, my aim would be not only to teach, but to inspire my tutees and instill a sense of confidence in their own abilities.

Personal Description:
I'm Pauline, and I specialise in French and biology. It sounds an odd combination, but read on and I'll tell you more.

For French - I'm half French and am fluent in the language having started with "survival French" at the age of five to stop my cousins from persecuting me, and then studying it at both GCSE (A* grade) and A-level (A grade). I go to France regularly and enjoy reading news articles in French. For lessons, I usually mix in reading, speaking, listening and grammar, as well as some history, geography and French current affairs to bring it to life. I am also available to practice speaking French, to improve your accent. I can teach both students for exam prep and adults if you're going to France and need some help with asking for directions and a coffee/glass of wine!

For biology - I again studied at GCSE and A-level and then did three degrees in the general field of biology! My PhD was in biomechanics so I specialise in biomechanics, anatomy and physiology, muscle and exercise science and cardiovascular; but feel free to contact me and we can discuss what you need. I can even teach plant science! I have worked with GCSE and A-level students for many years and am familiar with most common exam board questions. I am happy to go through past papers for exam practice. I have most experience with AQA exam board questions but can easily adapt to other boards.

I'm patient and friendly and use a flexible approach so you learn at your speed. Having obtained my PhD, I can relate to students and the specific pressures they face. I am DBS checked and can supply references on request.

Lessons are £25 per hour per person and £40 for two hours, including travel in and around Newcastle. There will be a small charge to cover my fuel for a longer drive, but I'm happy to discuss.

I may not be the cheapest but I'm experienced, patient, friendly and flexible - I'd rather be good than cheap!

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring since 2008, working with a variety of ages and in a range of topics from French tuition to sports coaching. I have taught over 30 students, both school students and adults, and have excellent references.

Tutoring Approach:

I will work closely with you to achieve your goals, if that's to improve in the subject for its own sake, to pass an exam or even to be able to order in French at a restaurant. During the first session we'll agree on a timetable and set specific goals. We'll set aside a few minutes during each subsequent session to assess our progress. I am patient, friendly and reliable and above all I love teaching!

Personal Description:
To introduce myself I am married with two children, a son working in Brussels and a daughter at secondary school. There must be history in the blood in our family as I have a Cambridge history degree, my wife a history degree from Warwick and our son studied history at King's College London!
I remain fascinated by history and always remember the opening lines of J. P Hartley are The Go-Between (some of you may have seen Julie Christie in the film?) "The past is a foreign country. They do things differently there". Recent events underline the importance of our past and understanding how we came to be where we are.

Holidays for me often include visits to historic places. In the last few years, for example we have seen the Vatican, Knossos, Granada and the historic places in New England -Boston, Salem and the Plymouth Plantation. My favourite holiday country is France - because of the food!

Teaching Experience:

Since September 2007 I have been involved in distance learning tutoring Key Stage 3GSCE and AS/A2 history for an open learning organisation. I was pleased though it was mostly due to the students that three obtained A*s and three A in the first IGCSE history examination in summer 2011.This work has included the regular marking of students' essays and other work and support and guidance leading to examinations. I have attended training for the new A Levels.

I can also advise graduate and postgraduate students on dissertations, including proof reading.

Individual tutorial support has been or students retaking examinations, mostly AS and A2 on all three examining boards and I have generally made a positive difference to their results. I do not claim to be able to cover all areas of history but my range is wide. At AS/A2 I can support students covering English history topics from the Tudors to the post Second World war period, Imperial Russia from the Emancipation of the serfs until the 1917 Revolutions and the Soviet Union from 1917 until its ending in 1991. I am also confident in topics in German history from unification in 1870 down to reunification in 1989. Similarly I can cover many topics in French history starting with the revolution in 1789. In terms of international history I am familiar with the key themes from circa 1870 through to the end of the Cold War, including the Vietnam War. I can also cover most themes in American history from the Civil War until the post-war era.
At GCSE and Key Stage 3 I can cover most topics and more recently I have also been teaching a school age pupil with autism. I have an up to date CRB

Relevant Previous Experience

lecturing on modern history (C18 to C21) on both first degree and MA courses.
lecturing on a wide range of further education courses
substantial examining and assessment experience, including first degree and MA level
research in higher and further education

HMI 1989-1993 and Further Education Inspector 1993-2001 responsible for the inspection of humanities including history in higher education, further education colleges and schools, both curriculum areas and cross college.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to students is to combine high expectations with a willingness at all times to help and advance their understanding, self confidence and self esteem and encourage them to work with increasing independence. When appropriate I work out with them a study programme with clear goals.

Many of the distance learning students I have taught have been home based because they have withdrawn from school due to bullying and some are living outside the UK. So I have good experince in working with those who, for whatever reason, have found learning difficult

My work in supporting students who are resitting examinationsbgeins with a, careful review of their performance. I , check the past examination papers and the examiners' guidance from the exmanination websites so as to discover why a student's performance has fallen short of expectations and plan a programme to achieve better in a reset.

However tutors are not miracle workers. I would stress that the students cannot expect me as tutor to do everything for them but rather they also have to make a major contribution in order to achieve success.

Personal Description:
** Teacher, Barrister, Oxford Lawyer, Friendly Geek **

I have a PGCE and qualified teacher status from UCL. I graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in law, and subsequently completed the Bar Professional Training Course and qualified as a barrister. I currently practise at the Criminal Bar, but will soon be undertaking teacher training.

I studied for my A-levels at the Wolverhampton Girls' High School, achieving four grade As at A-level. I have been awarded a number of academic prizes and scholarships.

I have engaged in numerous academic pursuits, and have experienced a variety of entrance examinations. I have studied English Literature, Politics and History to A-level, and Law to a degree-level. I can also help with admissions tests, LNAT tests, University and college applications etc.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of tutoring young people from 11 upwards, but am keen to begin working with younger children.

As a trainer for the English Secondary Student's Association, I have worked with both large and small groups of young people in different learning environments. I have also helped run a summer school for young people.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is both friendly and engaging, but with a necessary degree of discipline to ensure targets are achieved. I am happy to be guided by parents/my tutee as to my approach, and have experience of working with vulnerable or hard to reach children and those with special needs.

Personal Description:
I am Talha. I am a Chartered Certified Accountant. I am a full time accountancy and finance tutor. I have been tutoring accountancy and finance courses to ACCA, AAT and University students since 2011.

Qualifications:
> ACCA - Member (London College of Accountancy)
> MSc. - International Accounting (Anglia Ruskin University)
> CA - (Part Qualified) (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan)
> Masters of Commerce (M.Comm)

Teaching Experience:

I specialise in the following: UK Taxation, Financial Accounting, Management/Cost Accounting and Financial Reporting. I have been teaching the above mentioned subject areas for last 5 years. I have also been working in an accounting firm which gives me an extra edge to show my students how theory is actually implemented in business.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching is a passion for me. I follow a very friendly teaching style. My approach is to make sure that my students completely understand the topic before i finish the lecture. My lecturing approach is to ask as many questions as possible which relates to the topic. This gives me an idea to understand how much a student already knows about the topic and how much i need to teach him about the topic.

Personal Description:
I am 56 years old, am a qualified teacher with 15 years experience. I am an easy-going reliable person who likes to make my students feel at ease at all times.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching seconday school students since qualifying in 1998. I have had two full-time posts, worked as a supply teacher as well as having private students. I have worked in Inner London, Outer London, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire schools. I have also worked in France at a small private school during the '80's, predominantly teaching adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach French using the native tongue as much as possible. I use my own resources although I use the Internet for ideas whenever it's suitable.
For Maths I follow the syllabus laid down by whichever examining board the student is using and resources come from a wide variety of places usually from where I have recently been teaching. I gather information from colleagues who sometimes have great ideas. I like to be able to go through past papers with students marking work as we go through a course.

Personal Description:
I am a motivated, organised and friendly young woman. I love working with children and I am passionate about sport. I want to become a teacher and I am currently working as a classroom assistant at a high school. I am mainly in maths supporting foundation and higher curriculum at key stage 3 and 4 . I received an A at maths at GCSE and understand the curriculum fully. I studied Sport Science with Coaching at Northumbria University. I have had substantial experience in numerous schools and with a range of departments. I am very capable of working one on one with children and also with groups of children.

Teaching Experience:

I have had work placements at Haydon Bridge High School teaching P.E to ages 13-18 for a period of 6 weeks, then assisting various classes for 75 hours over 4 months. I undertook several roles; teacher, clasroom assistant, organiser of fixtures and one on one tutor. I also returned to Haydon Bridge High school as a volunteer, assisting in P.E lessons.
I am currently emplyed as a classroom assistant at Queen Elizabeth High school. My main role is to work with one or two children with Special Educational Needs within the classroom supporting their learning. I may also have to work with a whole class, supporting all the children. It is vital for my role that I understand and can teach the curriculum, as I may have to work outside the classroom with the child and will need to tutor them in that subject area. The majority of the students I am currently working with have made progress since I have been put with them and other students are asking to be placed with me or for me to put on revision sessions for them.

Tutoring Approach:

Every child is unique. They each have their own way of learning and have different abilities in a variety of areas. This can not always be addressed within a school environment, as it can be difficult to differentiate the topic which is being taught to a large number of pupils. I understand that each child will work at a different rate therefore my rate and style of teaching will alter to suit the student. I believe that tutoring is about guiding a child to find their own way towards an answer and not making them follow your way as they may not understand the process which you have followed. I can also comprehend the amount of work which students are having to complete weekly, thus I would not supply them with a large workload alongside their normal studies.

Personal Description:
I am currently working at the Transport Research Laboratory as a Researcher, having achieved my dream of becoming a Mechanical Engineer from the University of Surrey. I previously worked as a Manufacturing Engineer at Ford Motor Company. It has been an exciting time in the past 4 and a half years, in which I have become more innovative and gained a wide array of skills.

Main points to note about me are that I love to help and am enthusiastic about doing so. Teaching is something I thoroughly enjoy as it allows me to share the knowledge I have gained throughout my journey to entering and succeeding at what is now the 4th best university in the country. If you were to hire me, you can be assured that I will give my best effort in ensuring that my student not only improves/excels in his academic studies, but can acquire some insight or knowledge into what it would take to get into one of UK's best universities. Apart from this, I can provide career advice, opinions and assist in creating an excellent future for the student as I have had experience in interviewing, and undergoing the recruitment process, at massive multinational corporations and small companies alike.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught a number of students privately since October 2012 culminating in a role as a Teaching Assistant at Paddington Academy, alongside private tuition students. In this time, I have ensured my students had whatever they needed to excel in their studies. This includes support, flexibility, patience and proven teaching methods. This culminated in my students' grades showing improvement along with a greater understanding for the subjects I teach.

I also like to help my friends with understanding and grasping topics they do not understand and have done so in the past. No matter who I teach, I always ensure that they have a good understanding of the subject at hand and the ability to do well. Apart from this, I have worked as a student mentor which further improved my understanding of students from various backgrounds and enabled me to learn new approaches in communication. My success is shown by the positive feedback I have received from parents and students alike about the methods employed along with my general approach to lessons. Along with this, I have a history of improving the understanding and grades of the students under my tutelage.

Lastly, I ensure I provide a holistic view of education. As I have experience interviewing in massive corporate firms, undergoing their application process and have provided careers talks at my previous university, I am able to provide advice and recommendations alongside mentoring to help a student discover the method to achieving their dreams. I also provide them with the tools to do so. Simply put, I have assisted students in learning for the classroom and for the real world.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a friendly approach to tutoring. I try to establish a friendly relationship with the person I would teach. This, I feel, creates a nice atmosphere in which the student would enjoy to learn. I try to relate what I am teaching with practical and interesting examples. At the end of teaching a new topic, and whilst teaching too, I would assess the student to see where he/she stands. The key here is to ENSURE that the student understands what he/she is doing as this is essential to successful results. In order to achieve this, I employ a lot of patience and switch up teaching styles based on the student's needs.

As exams approach, I assess the student using past papers to ensure he/she has the best of chance of passing the exams with good results. Apart from this, I also assist the student by teaching him/her improved note taking techniques, summarising techniques and other useful information to enable the student to use this knowledge throughout his/her education such as A Levels, school, university, etc. I provide homeworks and help summarise notes into easily digestible briefs to refer to just before tests or exams. I am generally strict with marking the aforementioned exams/homeworks and pay attention to particular details as this helps my student in terms of achieving better marks. Passing is always a priority but in my opinion a pass is not enough. I would try to ensure my student gets good marks and not just a pass, i.e. an A, as it is my firm belief that with my help, this is possible for any student I teach.

I inspire my student to not only become better in their studies, but become the best version of him or herself so as to have the correct attitude and ability to achieve their dreams. I show them the big picture and paint an image of the success that awaits them through hard work.

One key point which sets me apart from all the other tutors is that I have first hand knowledge in what it takes to enter a good university along with career advice. This is due to the various number of companies I have previously interviewed it or undertaken the recruitment process for. I also ensure I provide dedication to the job and give everything I have to help improve my student's chances of success. All in all, I provide a holistic approach to my tutoring and ensure the student's needs always comes first.

Personal Description:
I did nothing but one-to-one private biology tuition, based in Oxford, for 24 years and was widely regarded as 'Oxford's Premier Biology Tutor'. I have now moved away from Oxford and have been offering my services online only, nationally and worldwide, for the past three years via the medium of Skype and 'Scribblar' - an interactive online whiteboard that is better than face-to-face tuition as there is zero travelling and waiting time and cost and it is more intimate and concentrated than 'in-person' tuition. I charge £60 per hour normally but offer a £10 per hour discount for tuition before 3 pm on weekdays.

Teaching Experience:

27 years (the last three totally online) of one-to-one tuition in A-level, IB and GCSE biology.

Tutoring Approach:

Stick to the specification. Do ALL the past paper questions and go through them with the mark schemes. Take the exam. and get on with your life.

I like to work in a very methodical and structured fashion and not confuse effective work with hard work. The students who say at the end "yes, I learned biology - but, better still I learned how to study" are the ones with whom I know I have really succeeded.

Apart from an internet connection all that you need for tutorials is a thin A4 ring binder with a copy of the specification punched and put into the front and some colored dividers in the back. If you are a retake student I ask you to highlight the specification (in yellow with solid highlighter if you are quite happy with the content; dotted highlighter if you are a bit unhappy with it and no highlighter if you have not done it or have forgotten it). This will tell me where to start and I can estimate to within an hour or so how many lessons will be needed to 'reteach' the syllabus. Effectively I write a textbook for you and give you notes (to be filed in the colored dividers) via e-mail and Scribblar (my interactive online whiteboard) to fill in any gaps in your knowledge. As I cover the specification I highlight my copy in pink so that I can monitor progress. I have CDs of questions that I can post to you that you can work through - each CD is specific to one exam. board and contains not only the most recent AS/A2 papers and mark schemes but also the preceding many years of papers for that board, chopped up into topic headings. So, for example, it will take an hour to 'cover' The Heart and then I'll give you the questions specifically on the heart on that board to do before the next tutorial. It is all very straightforward and actually rather less hard work than doing it in a slapdash, non-systematic fashion. The study skills that you will learn will stand you in good stead throughout life.

I can also advise on coursework/practicals.

Please note that I ONLY tutor online nowadays.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced tutor that enjoys tutoring children and have made a difference to the lives of numerous students who were struggling before but under my guidance have achieved their full potential and excellent grades.
I am working full time in a London Borough of Ealing school at the moment.I am a very patient and a caring tutor
who can motivate and encourage the strengths of the learner.I tutor from the purpose built study at the back of my house where I have all the resources.I am CRB checked and can provide evidence of all my qualifications and references from previous students and parents about my tutoring skills.

Teaching Experience:

I have more than 20 years of teaching experience where I have worked with varied age ranges.I have also worked with special educational needs children.I have experience of the different exam boards so can give exam practice according to the mark schemes to get the best results.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is based on the individual's needs.I assess the pupil first and then cater the lesson accordingly based upon individual needs. The lesson progresses according to the pace of the learner.I differentiate and meet the needs of the pupil.I break the information up into easy steps for some or go straight to the next step for others depending on the student.I praise and motivate the pupil and enhance their confidence.
After teaching a certain topic I also provide a piece of homework to reinforce knowledge. There is continuous on going assessment so that I am aware which topics need more practice.

Personal Description:
My name is Chris. With a good academic background, and now with excellent feedback, my approach is to not only impart knowledge, but also attempt to generate a passion for a subject that will remain long after any examination success. Educated at King's Collage School, Wimbledon and a subsequent degree course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at King's College, London, I joined the BBC as a television recording engineer in 1976. I became a successful editor with the BBC and continue to enjoy the same role now on a freelance basis.
I am a good communicator, and seem to have the knack of explaining sometimes difficult concepts with clear and concise explanations. I have kept in touch with my core subjects (maths, physics and science) throughout my life and retain a keen interest in all of them. I'm not just a book-based dry academic but someone who knows how to fire enthusiasm for learning that will last long after any examination paper. My work has never been Mon-Fri 9-5, so I am available during the working day both in term time and school holidays.

Teaching Experience:

I have now been tutoring Maths for over two years which has generated good feedback and positive results from parents and students alike.
I think that is all that counts.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to impart my enthusiasm for the subject to my students. This is so much easier on a one to one basis compared with the classroom. A tutor will often cause the 'penny to drop', not by simply repeating a classroom lesson, but by offering a different explanation of a problem. Working in close contact with the syllabus, I quickly identify areas of weakness in the understanding of a subject, and repair that damage as quickly as possible. This is essential, especially in maths, as new concepts can rely so heavily on previous knowledge, which, if absent, will make comprehension of new material even more difficult. This is presumably why you are looking for a tutor in the first place. Homework, mock exam questions are essential, not only as feedback for me to know how successful any lesson has been, but also for you as a parent to see if any improvement has been achieved. A return for your investment if you like. Get in touch.

Personal Description:
At Birmingham University I obtained a first class degree in mathematics and went on to qualify as a chartered accountant. It was my desire to learn Spanish that originally made me move to Andalucía in the south of Spain ten years ago. With full immersion in the language, I soon became fluent in Spanish. In order to be with my wife, I moved to Guatemala, where I took the opportunity for a career change in the local village school. I realised that teaching gave a much higher job satisfaction and was much more suited to my lively, upbeat manner.

Teaching Experience:

After some teacher training I found a job as a maths teacher in an international bilingual school called Atitlán Multicultural Academy. I went on to become the headmaster of the school for three years. Monitoring and assessing other teachers gave me a great insight into different styles. After the birth of my daughter I wanted to travel less so I started giving Spanish and maths lessons via skype. This video conferencing tool means I can give classes face to face to students in the comfort of their own home.

Tutoring Approach:

My Spanish lesson plans are based completely on the student's objectives and learning styles. Most of my present students want to learn conversational Spanish, so I concentrate more on the oral skills of speaking and listening. However, I always try and cover the grammatical points in a clear systematic way, ensuring the student does not get demotivated with the more technical side. The most important for me is that learning is fun, and clear advancements are made in each class.

The maths lessons deal with the specific problems of the students to aid understanding in areas that they did not fully pick up in school. I specialise in exam preparation for GCSE, AS level and A level. The students are made to analyse the question, break down the requirements and give structure to their answers whilst making notes on the steps which they found difficult.

I am a British academic and tutor, with degrees from the universities of London, Jerusalem and Cambridge. Author of 'Israel and the Cold War: Diplomacy, Strategy, and the Policy of the Periphery at the United Nations' (I.B. Tauris, 2013), I write for several academic journals, and review for the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House. I was the first recipient of the Mikardo scholarship, awarded by the British Foreign Office, and, whilst at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, was awarded a Golda Meir Fellowship. Whilst at Cambridge, I won a Donner prize in Atlantic Studies.

Teaching Experience:

A former Teaching Fellow at King's College London, I have taught MA courses on the Arab-Israeli conflict, US and British Foreign Policy, War and Peace in the Middle East, and Inter-Faith Relations in the Mediterranean. A fluent Hebrew speaker, I was Peer Tutor in Hebrew at University College London, where I was awarded the departmental prize for excellence in the Hebrew language. I have tutored privately abroad, as well as in Britain, and have an immensely successful record with my tutees. Apart from one-to one and online tuition, I also offer intensive tuition during school and university holidays. I find that both tutees and parents find this particularly useful for preparation and/or consolidation of knowledge. For peace of mind, I have enhanced DBS/CRB clearance.

Tutoring Approach:

Relaxed, interactive, theme-based, and multi-disciplinary. Use of past papers, analysis, deconstruction of exam and essay questions, concepts, and requirements; development of essay, and exam structure. I pay particular attention to a student's self-confidence, and self-expression, which often serve as catalysts for enhanced self-belief and, hence, success.

Personal Description:
I am patient and reliable. My ability to pay maximum attention to the academic needs of students has endeared me closer to my clients (students). I feel happy when there exists a smile of satisfaction on the faces of those under my tutelage. I am punctual to my appointments.

Teaching Experience:

I have acquired a total of 8 years post-university teaching experience mainly in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Statistics and Chemistry and biology. I also have a long standing experience in teaching study skills for maximum success.
I have taught in secondary school and in Universities.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is simple. First of all, understanding the students' strength and weakness in the subject area of interest is important as this serves as a yard stick in measuring the magnitude of tutoring required.
This will also suggest how best to go about it. Using pictures and stories have been found to yield successful results in most cases.
Assessment of the students in the end also helps to detail how far the student has made progress.
