Personal Description:
I have a BSc (First Class Honours) in Psychology from Brunel University (2007), and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Cambridge (2011). I am currently a Psychology lecturer at the University of Bath. My research is mainly in social, health and cognitive psychology, but I also teach research methods (both quantitative and qualitative methodologies), statistics and SPSS, as well as effective academic writing, including dissertations and research projects. In addition, I have sufficient competence in personality (i.e., individual differences) and clinical psychology to be able to teach these at undergraduate level.

More specifically, my research interests are:

- The attitude-behaviour relationship
- Behavioural interventions
- Motivation, cognition, and emotion
- Dual-process models of cognition
- Cognitive dissonance, self-affirmation, and information processing
- Emotional intelligence
- Mindfulness meditation and its cognitive and emotional benefits
- Meta-cognition and self-knowledge
- Persuasion and social influence
- Intelligence and problem-solving
- Body language and communication
- Personal development

Teaching Experience:

I taught psychology to undergraduates at the University of Cambridge from 2008-2011. In addition, I have experience of supervising undergraduates from other universities, including Anglia Ruskin and King's College London. I also supervise BSc and MSc students in their undergraduate research projects, and act as a dissertation supervisor in my department.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to use an interactive approach that encourages active involvement of the tutee. My main goal during tuition sessions is to stimulate an interest in the subject and facilitate independent and critical thinking. This, I believe, allows the tutee to become an independent thinker and to enjoy the learning process, which is rewarding for both parties.

Personal Description:
I moved from Henley-on-Thames to Bampton in October 2011. In 2012, I worked three days a week in an independent girls' school in Exeter, providing one-to-one support for a girl in Year 9 and also taught English Literature to Year 7 & Year 13 classes.

I have a passion for the written word and its performance in poetry and drama.

I am a mother with three grown-up children and a grandmother, and very interested in how young people view and contribute to the world in which they live.

I have an MA (with Merit) in Postcolonial Studies from SOAS, University of London (2015) and a First Class Honours BA degree in English and Classics from the University of Reading (1996).

I can offer lessons in my home in Bampton or online via email and Skype. Skype has proved to be a highly successful way of teaching and I now teach across the globe using this medium,

Teaching Experience:

In addition to working in a school in Exeter (outlined above), I have been a highly successful English tutor for many years, originally based in the South-East. Most of my client base is private but I also work for two top London tuition agencies. I am a highly experienced tutor and currently have students in English Language & Literature from KS1 to 'A' level/IB. I also work with undergraduates & postgraduates in various disciplines, providing guidance in the structure of their essays, particularly dissertations, and academic writing. Additionally, in 2014/15 I tutored the complete AQA GCSE Classical Civilisation syllabus to a Year 9 student via Skype, who obtained an A as her final grade.

I also have experience in helping adults with their business English and have written marketing copy for the commercial sector.

Tutoring Approach:

When I tutor a student, I search for a 'tailor-made' way to help increase their self-esteem and confidence. This enhances the learning they already receive in the classroom. The study of texts offers student and tutor alike not only an opportunity to develop communication one with another but also insight into the life experiences of others, both in past generations and the wider world today.

I have helped numerous students to achieve higher than their predicted grades at both GCSE, IB and 'A' level and have many excellent references available. My students have come from the public, private and state school sectors and with varying levels of academic ability.

Personal Description:
Dear Parent / Student,
My name is Michael.
Now an online tuition specialist.
I am a fully qualified, professional and experienced teacher and tutor of Maths and Physics - to Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, GCSE, IGCSE, AS / A2 - Level, as well as considerable experience as an examiner. I have taught and prepared students for medical school and successful Oxford and Cambridge entrance.
I offer tuition from my home in Whitton, either face - to - face tuition or online, or a mixture of the two.
Each of those options can work very well.

Teaching Experience:

With 25 + years of classroom teaching and tutoring across the full ability range from 8 years old to Adult, I am well aware of the common ( as well as the not so common ) misconceptions held by students of Physics and the difficult areas of Maths.

Over the last year I have developed my resources so that I can offer the same top quality tuition ONLINE to students anywhere in the UK and abroad as I can to face - to - face students.

Have you considered ONLINE tuition in Maths or Physics ? You might be pleasantly surprised. The technology these days enables us to have a learning experience which is just as effective as having your own, personal, tutor in a face - to - face meeting. You might like to try a free preliminary meeting online. It's free, so you have nothing to pay, nothing to lose. It just takes 30 minutes of your time.
What I do is to re - create, as closely as possible, the same learning experience as in a face - to - face meeting.

With my current online students (GCSE Maths) after some initial trepidation and months of preparation, I find it's easy to develop the same working relationship with parent and student - as I do in face - to - face, something I was sceptical about - at first, but not any more.

We use Skype for conversation. It's just like talking to parents and student around the same kitchen table! I can still share my qualifications, my certificates, my CRB / DBS, my references, and discuss the student's educational needs, just as I do face - to - face.

We also use and share an interactive online whiteboard, just like a sheet of paper between us, and of course screen - sharing technology to bring our tuition notes to the home of the student.
The student does not have to download anything to his / her computer (just Skype for free).
I use a graphics tablet and stylus to write on the whiteboard, and the student can write on it too.
We try to make the online learning experience and working relationship as similar as possible to the face - to - face experience and relationship.
It is an excellent option when travel distance is a problem OR if you would like sessions that are shorter than an hour.
Please get in touch by email or phone in the first instance.
If I'm unable to take your call please leave a short message and number and I'll return your call promptly.

Tutoring Approach:

Either Online or face - to - face, by discussion with the student I establish the needs of the student.
I collaborate with the student to devise teaching and learning strategies to suit the individual.

I offer top quality tuition - friendly, patient and reliable - to meet the needs of the individual student who wants to improve her / his grades and is prepared to work hard. Whether the student needs help with homework, coursework guidance, specific topics, revision strategies, or exam technique and practice at past exam papers, etc. . . help is available, and the student and parents WILL see improvement.

I am available for tuition during the day as well as after school.

I am based in Whitton, Twickenham. I offer tuition in my own home OR online.

Please discuss your tuition needs with me.

If you would like further details or to discuss your individual learning needs or to arrange a free consultation meeting please contact me.

Thank you for taking the time to read my advert.

Michael.

Personal Description:
I am a Classics graduate and former Latin teacher, originally from Cheshire but now volunteering and living in North London. I have been working as a private tutor since 2012 and have helped many students of different ages and abilities to exceed their target grades.

I received a first-class honours degree in Classics from the University of Liverpool and also won the 'Dawson Turner Prize' (2015) for best performance in part II examinations; the 'J.P. Postgate Prize' (2014) for best performance in part I examinations and the 'Thomas Hornby Scholarship' (2013 & 2014) for best performance in Greek. My research interests include Latin and Greek bucolic poetry and I have presented an academic paper (November 2014) on this topic. I am also a member of the Virgil Society.

Teaching Experience:

September 2015 - July 2016: After graduating from university, I taught Classics full-time at a leading (11-18) boys' school in the north of England and was responsible for all teaching of Latin (up to A-Level) and Greek (up to GCSE). All of my A-Level Latin students received A*-A grades and obtained places at Oxford/Cambridge and all of the GCSE Greek students received A*/A.

September 2014 - December 2014: Taught an introductory Latin course for adults
September 2014 - June 2015: Privately taught the GCSE Classical Civilisation course to a student (who received an A*)
September 2012 - January 2013: Taught an introductory Latin course to a local primary school
September 2011 - June 2015: Ran an extra-curricular GCSE Greek course at a local school alongside university studies

Alongside this I also have extensive experience of tutoring pupils privately and have tutored a wide-range of abilities and ages ranging from under 11s to those studying for A-Levels (in English and Latin) and I have managed to help many of those taking exams to obtain A/A* grades. I also have experience teaching the casual learner who does not want to take examinations.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach is unique to each individual and involves building up a relationship with the tutee so I can provide the most effective tuition depending on their learning style.

However, in general terms, my approach is a practical one and I encourage students to view the literature (whether Greek, Latin or English) in an analytical way and endeavour to teach the method rather than just the answer. Where possible, I will choose material that will interest the tutee so that, as far as possible, they will enjoy the process of reading and analysing the piece of text.

Acting since the age of 9, Deborah has been employed across the acting spectrum from Film, TV, Radio and Theatre. She has appeared alongside Placido Domingo at The Royal Opera House, in an opera directed by veteran movie director Franco Zeffirelli, featured in CBBC's award-winning Horrible Histories and is the voice over presenter/narrator for Discovery Channel's 'I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant!'

Deborah has taught a multitude of classes and taken many workshops over the years, including at primary and secondary schools, and also spent a year in Thailand teaching English and Spanish to children at a private secondary school and took private tuition for university students and adults, as well as the Thai Military.

Deborah has worked for Perform (similar to Stagecoach) and The Cat's Grin Theatre Company, and coaches and provides tuition to adults and kids alike. A whole host of specific, targeted tuition is available, be they preparing audition pieces, running through scripts for shows, dissecting Shakespeare to find meaning and understanding or simply development techniques for voice, movement, delivery, confidence and so on. She has also prepared Best Men for their wedding speeches as well as Business Managers for important presenting events and assisted in the development of their delivery and re-work presentations for maximum impact.

Deborah has also worked extensively in the corporate environment in the City (Canary Wharf, Cannon Street et al), in the main working as an HR Recruitment Manager for banking and finance industries (HSBC, Lloyds etc), and so utilises these experiences - client meetings, board-level presentations, business development/sales and interviewing, to assist the more commercial, business-minded student to achieve their goals - be it brushing up on their interview technique and how to sell oneself or making speeches at VIP business events.

Deborah is also a mum to a 3.5 year old boy, who conveys no shyness whatsoever!

Tutoring Approach:

Deborah is warm, approachable and at ease, and whilst maintains a professional outlook, has a strategy that is fun and enjoyable, working with the personality and character of each student. Deborah adapts to the needs and requirements of the pupil and often pin points and weeds out bad habits or hidden talents, gets the student to think about nuances and anomalies they may not have been aware of about themselves to bring out the best potential for the task at hand. She has a knack of finding other skills and abilities in her students that offers more light and marketability to their approach to drama, acting, presenting and so on.

Deborah also leads group classes should you seek a more workshop feel. Fees can be negotiated depending on size of group, age and objective.

Personal Description:
Please, feel free to contact me to see my works - I will send you the link via e-mail.

Who am I? I am a creative female human being, who is about to graduate in BSc (Hons) Architecture. I have been:
breathing for 23 years;
creating art for more than 12 years.

I am a darling of fortune. I do what I love and love what I do. Moreover, in my case, it is the most precise definition of my future career. I am in a deep, incurable love with Rain, Poetry, Black Coffee, Philosophy, Books, Music and any manifestations of elegant, thoughtful and inspiring Design & Art in all areas of life: from the greatest "Bilbao-effect-Architecture" from Powers-that-be at all times (starting with Ancient innovations to Modern Deconstructionism) to the 50's rockabilly dresses in my wardrobe.

Teaching Experience:

Mostly, I privately tutored children every summer between 2005-2009, helped primary school teacher to prepare art classes. I am currently looking forward to expand age category of my tutees.
I am now starting tutoring again after a break (since 2009), therefore, references will be available soon.

Tutoring Approach:

Before I start tutoring I always prefer to arrange a meeting to have a chat about what your requirements/preferences/needs are first. Once this is discussed, I take couple of days to arrange a brief plan for our lessons, which will be sent to you by e-mail. That way we adjust it together and I have time to prepare helpful information/books/software etc. for you. Once it is confirmed we arrange the date for the first lesson.

Personal Description:
First half hour free - This is an opportunity for you to decide if you are happy with me and my teaching methods and also for me to assess your level and expectations.

I am a friendly native Mandarin Chinese speaker with Chinese Teacher Training Qualification from the Beijing Language and Culture University. I am also a fully qualified Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor. In addition to teaching, I love reading and writing.

BBC reports: "Researchers in Britain have found that people who speak Mandarin Chinese use both sides of their brain to understand the language. This compares to English-language speakers who only need to use one side of their brain." Chinese characters are logograms instead of phonics; I would love to help you explore the fun facts and culture meaning behind the scene. Using both sides of the brain will help in other areas of learning.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching Chinese to Korean students in China in 1992. Before moving to Layer-de-la-Haye, I taught in a Chinese School in Hampshire for one year for children from aged 6 to 10. I have the experience of making the lessons fun and attractive for the children. For Adults, I will tailor lessons to suit your specific purpose: Tourism, Business, Universal and Academic. I have also given Chinese culture lectures in both primary schools and colleges.I am teaching students GCSE mandarin in Chinese School. I have experience to help students to get ready for their GCSE exam.

Tutoring Approach:

Every lesson will be tailor-made to satisfy individual needs, interest and skill level. It is important to me that you not only enjoy the classes but also see your Chinese develop.

Lessons will cover any or all of the scope you require: talking and listening, reading and writing.

I am also very happy to teach Chinese Philosophy and Chinese Medicine if you have big passion in the Chinese Culture. The essence of Chinese Philosophy is helping gain inner strength and peace of mind. The Chinese Medicine is a natural way to keep healthy.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of the English Department at the University of Hull, and I have a PGCE from Leeds Metropolitan University. I have written various academic articles for publication, and I also develop learning programmes which combine the English curriculum with the exploration of local history, events and places. I am currently working on a documentary about Charles Dickens's visits to Hull, and have written a play abput the same subject.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE. I have an Honours degree in English and a Masters with a Distinction in English, I am also working on a doctorate (Phd) in my subject. I have worked in education for more than twelve years. I also offer tutring in Media Studies and Religious Studies, as well as assisteance with literacy, including reading and writing. However, I am not qualified to teach English as a foreign language.

I can teach students from Year Five to degree level. I have taught in schools and in the English Department at the University of Hull. I have also been a marker for English GCSE exam papers. I currently work as a tutor to students taking A' Level and GCSE English. I have had 100% pass rate for both, with students gaining Grade C and upwards.

I work with dyslexic students, and those who are on the autism spectrum. I also work with students who are sitting the English Skills tests for their PGCE. My students include adults, primary school children working towards SATs, GCSE and AS/A2 students, and students who need a general helping hand with their English, and with developing exam skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a student-focused approach to tutoring. Each of my students is given an initial assessment and has an individual learning plan and is set targets. I am happy to repeat exercises and essays where necessary, and to go over information to ensure that the student understands concepts, ideas and exam requirements. I will set homework where necessary, but do not believe that this should interfere with schoolwork, or be excessive and burdensome.
I also believe that regular assessments and tests are essential to ensure that the student is maintaining a good standard of work, and that they are on-target. I am also a firm believer that encouragement and praise should be cornerstones of good teaching.

Personal Description:
I am a highly qualified maths and physics tutor with a keen grasp of the subject knowledge and a thorough understanding of the practice of learning. I am professional in the way I treat my clients and provide an expert tutoring service. My previous experiences allow me to connect with a wide range of pupils, allowing the kind trust required for a positive learning environment.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a maths teacher in 2004 and began tutoring in 2006. Since then I have taught students from age 9 to 40, and taught primary level up to first year degree maths and physics. In 2016 I became an examiner for OCR, marking exam papers.

Tutoring Approach:

I mainly seek to fill in the gaps in students' knowledge in the subject, using and teaching, techniques and methods for absorbing subject knowledge, and passing exams.
I build a solid relationship with the pupil and create an atmosphere conducive to learning. I tailor the structure of the lessons to the individual needs of the student both at a long term level and within each lesson. We might work through topics that the student is weak in, or start new topics, review and practice exams, or discus meta-exam technique, as required by the situation. I follow the National Curriculum closely, and make heavy use of specimen and past exam papers for GCSE/A-Level candidates.

Personal Description:
I'm an Oxford physics student who enjoys teaching and learning maths and science. I am friendly, academic and approachable.
I achieved 4 A* grades at A level, in physics, chemistry, maths and further maths. At GCSE level, I achieved 11 A* grades, including maths, further maths, triple science and English.

Teaching Experience:

I have privately tutored several students in maths and the sciences at KS3, GCSE and A Level. I also help with a voluntary tutoring programme in Oxford, teaching science to educationally disadvantaged children.

Tutoring Approach:

I mainly offer intensive end-of-term revision courses in maths and science, and will next be free from 10th July until the end of September.
I like to agree goals with the tutee in the first session so that we can work together on these areas for improvement in a targeted way, for example by using the specification for an exam the tutee is preparing for.
I would happily offer discounts for multiple tutees.

Personal Description:
Qualified, professional English teacher - 25 years experience at all levels and abilities.

I have a personal, friendly approach, which is individualised to learners` needs, following initial/informal assessment and discussion with parents or with learners themselves.

We can follow a negotiated programme of study or I can assist with planning and preparation for classwork assignments, revision and study for exams.

Thank you for reading my profile - I look forward to working with you.

Teaching Experience:

25 years as a teacher of English in the National Curriculum - up to A level and English as an Additional Language. I teach to all abilities.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe passionately in the huge value of tutoring to students and take great satisfaction in seeing my students achieve their full potential.

I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student's understanding and technique. I also give a lot of emphasis to some of the less obvious but vital skills such as essay structure and technique and logical thought.

My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves.

Personal Description:
I am a recent Masters graduate from the London School of Economics. Having spent the last 5 years in higher education, I feel I have the right skills and knowledge to tutor students from all ages. I have been tutoring various 11+, GCSE, and A-Level students for the past 10 years, as well as running various economics workshops for the LSE. The mixture of interaction and application I employ throughout all my tutoring sessions ensure students enjoy and get a great deal from my lessons.

Teaching Experience:

Taught economics workshops at the LSE to over 120 GCSE students.
Taught maths workshops to both GCSE and A-Level students. Most students I teach jump up at least 2 grades within a year.
Having successfully undertaken the 11+ entrance exams, and in doing so studied at one of the most renown grammar schools in London, I have taught many prospective students the tools to pass these rigorous exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Fun and interactive, with a strong desire to make sure the students fully understand the material. Where I believe I differentiate myself from other tutors is my ability to adapt to each student. This ensures each student has their own independent, unique class. No two students are the same, so why should the lessons be?

Personal Description:
I am a passionate teacher of English who specialises in GCSE and A Level teaching. As 2nd in department at my current school, I have an excellent knowledge of new exam specifications and skills required. I am enthusiastic, caring and understand that no two students learn in the same way - you can rest assured that lessons will be written specifically for the student to address their current needs. I have built excellent relationships with students and I thoroughly enjoy seeing students grow in confidence and ability.

Teaching Experience:

5 years at a secondary school in East Riding of Yorkshire. I have done private tutoring before and will cater to the individual student's needs.

Tutoring Approach:

On the first meeting I like to sit down with the student and get an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses in the subject, outlining how they like to learn and what strategies they have found work for them in the classroom. From here I will plan bespoke lessons to suit the exam board and the student's needs. I understand that some students will be reluctant to learn, so I try to make lessons as engaging as possible (linking topics to their individual interests wherever possible!) Marked work will be returned promptly to both students and guardians, with further opportunities to make improvements. When working towards examinations, I will provide exam practice material, which will be marked and reviewed.
