Personal Description:
I am London-based, with experience in tutoring English Language and Literature to secondary students from the ages of 13 to 16. I am particularly focused on years 10 to 11 and the Language/Literature GCSEs. I am familiar with the AQA and OCR exam boards, and I understand the stresses facing many students at this point in their academic life.

Teaching Experience:

To date, I have been tutoring part-time, however I would now like to move into it on a fuller basis. I also have experience of teaching English to people for whom it is not a first language, and I can draw on this where some GSCE students may not always have lived in the UK.

Tutoring Approach:

I am extremely patient and understanding of the pressures facing many young people at this point in their academic life. However I will also work to ensure that they challenge themselves to get the very best results, to an aim to building knowledge of English as subject and self-confidence in their ability to tackle and enjoy it.

Personal Description:
I have an Honours degree in Mathematics and Computer Science and am a certified EFL teacher. Until I began tutoring, I worked as an independent IT consultant fro eighteen years.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching individuals (adults and teenagers) for almost 8 years as my main job

Tutoring Approach:

Being able to concentrate on the individual means lessons can be tailored exactly to meet the needs of the student. This allows the maximum increase in the student's confidence in the subject which is ultimately reflected in much improved exam performance. It is very rewarding to see this process.
I like to immediately identify and concentrate on any areas where the student has difficulty and develop strategies and methods with the student to overcome those difficulties.
I enjoy teaching individuals and I think this is communicated to the student. Effective and productive study requires a touch of light-heartedness, I believe.
I have always had excellent reports.

Personal Description:
I am a young and enthusiastic private tutor with more than 6 years' experience, specialising in English Literature. I am familiar with a wide range of literature, including many popular school set texts. I welcome tuition requests from students at all levels and of all ages.

I hold a First Class BA degree in English as well as an MA in Victorian Studies with Distinction, both from the University of Exeter. I am also in my final year of a PhD in Victorian Literature at the University of London.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught a range of ages and abilities in English Literature, both in the UK and the US. I have tutored children learning to read, primary school children, secondary school students (KS3, GCSE and A level), university students (at BA and MA level), and adult learners (including those studying an online course and those studying with the Open University).

Three years ago I also began giving tuition on English grammar and punctuation to adult learners wishing to improve their business communication skills.

I have helped students write clear, effective and successful personal statements for university applications for more than 7 years.

I also have experience of helping teach primary school children to read, write, and improve their comprehension skills.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is tailored to each individual students according to their needs, following a consideration of their strengths and weaknesses in the course of the first two sessions. This enables me to teach and enthuse each student. When students are shown different ways of looking at a text, and ways in which it relates to their own lives, literature becomes much more accessible, encouraging them to study and achieve better academic grades.

Extra tutoring gives students individual attention beyond the scope of the classroom, and offers an opportunity to look at set texts in more detail, and at the right pace.

Improving students' confidence is central to my approach to tutoring. With individually tailored tutoring, determination to succeed, and improved confidence, my students are able to achieve excellent grades and reach their full potential.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified and experienced teacher of mathematics and physics at GCSE and A level. I am registered with the DfE and possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Over the past two years I have conducted hundreds of Intervention Tutorials in local schools particularly in mathematics. In my private tutoring much of my work involves helping students to get the grades they need to pursue their chosen A level studies or to get to the university of their choice. My results in these respects have been first rate. I conduct home visits for students based in Bournemouth and Poole and online tuition for those based further afield.

Teaching Experience:

Over ten years teaching experience in schools, colleges and private one to one tuition. Throughout this time I have taught maths and physics mostly at GCSE and AS/A2 level. My experience covers AQA, OCR and Edexcel exam boards. It includes mathematics up to and including Further Maths (FP1/FP2,...)

Tutoring Approach:

Most of my tutees are looking for help in raising their grades especially for university entrance purposes and whilst I spend considerable time helping tutees work through past paper exam questions I always emphasise the need for a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts.

Most of my tutees have a good idea where in the syllabus they have issues and these tend to be the starting point in a tutorial. Identifying gaps in their knowledge and understanding and then helping tutees to bridge these gaps is a key feature of my tutorials. I also place considerable emphasis on problem solving as this is ultimately what the exams are all about in mathematics and physics.

Personal Description:
I am 29 years old and have been teaching A level and GCSE English and history at sixth form college for seven years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding pass rates and innovative teaching methods, my English department has been awarded a grade 1 'Outstanding' for the past 4 years. I have a passion for English and history, and take great pride in providing an excellent education to all of my students, seeing it as crucial to success in their later careers.

Teaching Experience:

I have a broad range of experience turning around failing classes, as well as challenging high achieving students. In my teaching career thus far I have taught a wide age range from 9-18 years, and specialise in teaching troubled students and those lacking confidence, as well as pushing very bright pupils. Since I began teaching at my institution, English pass-rates have received a 25% upwards leap in two years, so that the vast majority of my classes are now passing with high academic grades and attaining entry to prestigious preparatory schools and/or universities. With these excellent results I have now been made an advanced teaching practitioner, tasked with passing on my skills to other teachers and helping drive up standards

Tutoring Approach:

Besides enjoying superb results, my pupils benefit from a relaxed yet challenging atmosphere, with high commitment being expected of them and this has shown to bring both personal and academic growth, which is always pleasing to see. Moreover, in strengthening self-esteem and exciting the minds of my students, to provide them with the skills they need to excel in later life, I seek to provide them with only the finest education possible.

I feel passionate when it comes to teaching and my experience with students says that they find the lessons enjoyable and, most important, useful and valuable to their goals.
I like to adjust the dynamics and content of every lesson to the specific needs of the learner. This makes every learner unique and I find challenging and rewarding to create tailored lessons adapted to the student“s needs.

You will have the first lesson for free and then you decide what you will do afterwards.
If you ,due to whatever reason, you do not need or want an hour around the clock lesson we can arrange that and do shorter or longer spans of time.

Personal Description:
I am 53 years old, have lived in Manchester all of my life (except for a brief time in Glasgow where I met my wife!) We have five children and usually have one or two foster children with us. We love to do stuff together; camping, fishing, walking, canoeing, you name it, we'll have tried it. By my friends I am known as Bar-B-Q Steve. To my tutees I'm known by a variety of names but mainly as the guy who helped them get where they wanted to get to. They all started in Manchester but are now truly all over the world doing some amazing things; this brings me the greatest pleasure.

Teaching Experience:

I gained Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) in 1987. Since then I have worked in both High School teaching Physics and in Primary School as a class teacher. Five years ago I further qualified as a specialist maths intervention teacher. I presently work at a Primary School running maths intervention programs. I have received and given training in the new 2014 National Curriculum and am therefore aware of new approaches being used by schools.

Tutoring Approach:

Being a current school teacher, I am always keen to find a strategy that fits alongside what your child's school is providing. This I do by studying materials your child brings home, observing strategies which your child uses and occasionally by speaking to schools. I believe lessons should be both educational and enjoyable. There is a pleasure in self-improvement which I will want to build into your child so that they grow in self-confidence through learning.

Personal Description:
I am an electronics and telecoms engineering college graduate. I have an overseas degree in law. I work for a big transport infrastructure company as an engineering manager. I love teaching and sharing my vast knowledge in that which I know.

Teaching Experience:

My experience is mainly in coaching and one to one instruction and mentoring. I am patient and I go that extra to make sure the student gets the best of what I offer.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to give an overview of the value of education in general and to establish interest in the subject. I then coach the student to understand that the success story is centred on him or her no matter how good I am. In other words I give 5-10 free minutes of motivating the student before the real lesson

Personal Description:
Hi! I'm a soon-to-be graduate of a degree in Spanish language and culture, and have experience of living in Spain. My personal interests include art, travel and food, and I have a particular passion for cooking. I'm a friendly person and love to work with people one-on-one.

Teaching Experience:

Private one-on-one language tutor to English speaking students.

Tutoring Approach:

I can teach the language at various levels, with cultural context and an understanding of different registers of Spanish and the ways in which communication differs in Spain compared to the UK. Because of my cultural knowledge and experience, I offer an all-round service and can teach both Spanish for qualifications and exams and for those that wish to live in or travel to Spain and speak like a local. Having learnt Spanish both through formal education and immersive experience I know the pitfalls and common difficulties and can help students avoid them. I also offer classes in English as a foreign language, growing up in a very multicultural area and attending a school with many students from overseas I learned to communicate easily with people that do not speak fluent English, and am passionate about helping people fit into British society by improving their language skills. As with Spanish, lessons can be academically-based or more casual, with a focus on conversation practice if needed.
