Personal Description:
I am a post-Doctorate biologist with years of experience in leading academic institutions such as Oxford University and King's College London. I am passionate about teaching and student mentoring. I am constantly striving for excellent educational material, featuring high quality illustrations, as I believe in using the latest technology to facilitate my student's actual comprehension of the wonderful science that is biology and not merely memorising! At the same time I consider mentoring a calling; a great responsibility but highly rewarding.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my years as an academic, I have had the opportunity to guide a number of medicine and dentistry undergraduates as well as PhD students through their graduation, motivating them for high performance without undermining the demanding nature of their studies and providing support where needed.
In addition, I have tutored students for preparation for SAT and A-level exams, who achieved their first choice of university.

Tutoring Approach:

My experience in academia has provided me with a thorough understanding and appreciation of the student profile that is desirable in leading universities. Finally, as I have extensive experience in writing articles for publication in renowned journals and presenting in international conferences and meetings as well as in multiple interviews, I am able to provide high level coaching for interviews for entry into competitive institutions as well as personal statement coaching.

I only take on a limited number of students, as I want to be able provide only the highest level of teaching and mentoring.

Personal Description:
Originally from Newcastle, I am now an actor and enjoy tutoring alongside my acting work. I have worked in TV, and also in theatre, including venues such as The National Theatre and the West End. Especially with younger students, I like to keep my lessons creative and practical. I studied English and Drama at Bristol University and then went on to train at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Recently, I have been tutoring in English, Drama, 11+ Common Entrance exams and general Primary school help.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for over 6 years. Alongside my tutoring, I am currently teaching Music and Drama in schools and I run workshops with Sixth Formers on ways of analysing texts practically.

7+ - I worked with Elektra (6) preparing her for 7+ Examinations. Covering English, Maths and Reasoning focussed on entry to Notting Hill and Ealing High School.

7+ - Working with Harry on English, Maths and exam technique, focussing him for 7+ exam for Dulwich Prep School. Harry has traits of both dyslexia and dyspraxia.

7+ - I work with Jules on his English. Jules is French and has just started attending a French school, so we are working to keep his English up to scratch. Main areas of focus are: speaking, spelling, listening/understanding and grammar.

7+ - Working with Charlie mainly on English, increasing his confidence in all areas but focussing on Writing, Grammar and Punctuation, and Comprehension.

11+ - Working with Guy on English and Maths one day a week. Mainly focussed on Guy's writing and spelling. Guy is preparing for entry to Westminster and Eton Schools.

11+ - I worked with Ingrid on English and Maths in preparation for exams for Notting Hill and Ealing High School, Francis Holland and Godolphin and Latymer Schools. Ingrid went to her first choice of Notting Hill and Ealing High.

11+ - I worked with Olivia in preparation for her Common Entrance exams on all papers (English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning) as well as interview practice. Olivia is now attending North London Collegiate School (her first choice) but I also prepared her for entrance to Highgate School for Girls, City of London School for Girls and Queen's College.

Primary Help - I worked with brothers Teddy (7) and Alfie (10) mainly on English and Maths but also across all subjects generally to improve knowledge, confidence, spelling and vocabulary.

Primary Help - I worked with Rohan (10) on improving his confidence and basic skills in English and Maths. Rohan was very inquisitive and keen but needed help focussing and answering the specific questions that he was being asked.

A Level English Literature (AQA) - worked with Oliver (17) helping with coursework on The Great Gatsby and the poetry of Keats and Larkin. Oliver achieved an A grade.

AS Level Drama (AQA) - helped Yasmin to explore the analysis of texts of Lady Windermere's Fan and A View From The Bridge in preparation for exams, in which she achieved an A.

GCSE English Literature - tutored Amy in preparation for coursework and exams. Texts: Lord of The Flies and A View From The Bridge.

SKYPE - I teach Pietro (11) English as a Second Language weekly online.

Home Schooling - Inigo (6 when I started) had been getting reports of generally dropping behind in class work with a lack of concentration. I homeschooled him every Friday for two terms. He was having particular trouble in English and Maths. Inigo was struggling especially with English, in all areas, and was most behind with Spelling and Grammar. For him to engage, I had to be both creative (to keep him interested) but also quick as the plan was to get him into Kew Green Primary for the next academic year. We covered the basics of year 1 and ironed out any problems (also to give him confidence with the things he could do) and then went onto year 2. I would use a lot of what he was naturally interested in (football and particular comic book characters) in the teaching to keep his attention. With Maths, Inigo could do simple addition and subtraction but struggled when getting into 2 digits, multiplication, or any sort of wordy problem where the sum to be done was not absolutely clear. So, again, we covered the basics and then pushed on. He worked really hard and eventually we were looking forward to things he may encounter next year. At first Inigo was quite reluctant to work but I managed to win him over and build up a good rapport for productive days of homeschooling. Thankfully, he gained a place at Kew Green, and we were delighted! (Though it did mean, unfortunately, that he didn't need me any more...).

English for Foreign Learners - Helped 8 year old Augustinos (Greek) with reading and homework to improve English, as well as taking him on educational trips around London.

Drama (practical) - Coached Emily (21) and Hannah (20) with acting lessons in preparation for Drama School Entry auditions. Emily has now trained at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and Hannah is training at LAMDA.

Voice and Elocution - Helped Law Student Amar (20) with speechmaking and projection for use in debating.

SEN - worked with Dean (20), a law student with dyslexia, upon exam preparation and practice.

Tutoring Approach:

I will tailor whatever I teach to my pupil's needs. I am very easy to get along with and very open to how you think you or your child will best learn. Above all I would want a pupil to look forward to my sessions with them so will make sure that they are practical, interesting and varied. Especially with the younger students I teach I think that lessons need to be fun to keep them excited about learning! If you have any questions at all or specific enquiries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Personal Description:
As a University of Kent graduate with good grades on Mathematics, Biology and Psychology subjects, I have made my pursuit on making tutorial sessions with those students who need help with the subjects which I am really good at.

Teaching Experience:

As an experienced tutor I do believe that learning isn't hard if there is a good and talented mentor who could best encouraged every learner to acquire new things and become competitive at school.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutorial have been the answer for grade related problems of every students. Most of the time students encounter such problems because of inattentiveness due to confusions that is being created during their daily lessons at school. During my tutoring every detail is scrutinized up to the single one.

As a tutor I love showing my tutees the joy of learning through different activities which they will always find interesting. With my pursuit to help students I have different strategies being used depending upon the age and level of difficulty of the topic to be taught.

I strongly believe that a good tutor knows how to listen to his tutee. I always let my tutees to tell their concerns, and have a personal talk with them. Getting to know each other is the first thing that every tutor should do, this is the best way to help them feel more at ease.

I see to it that my tutees are learning from what I am talking and discussing. This made me a favorite of my previous tutees who are now a tutor to some of their younger friends in their place. I always find the best way to teach them for them to learn the topic in the easiest way possible.

The need to have a good tutor with a heart to its tutee is a must. In my entire experience in tutoring I have learned to established connection to my tutee. As a facilitator of learning it is important to work with students rather than lecturing them. The steps, methods and procedures should be done in a way that all of the details are being understood by the tutee.

A good tutor encourages students to remain active during the period of learning and mentoring. Every tutee would love to be with a tutor who treats him as friend. For me the best way to help the learners is to become their friend and not as somebody who treats them as a student.

Tutoring should be done in a way that is made fun and exciting; no tutee would like to be with a boring tutor. So when I was having my first year of experience in tutoring I always prepare the necessary things in order to make the entire learning process effective.

Aside from being ready for the tutoring sessions, the topics I used to teach them are in line with their discussions. Most of my tutees where having their advance lessons during the tutorial I am giving them, mostly if they are going to join a school competition.

For those who are interested to become my tutee I am always free and available all the time. I am also offering tutorial sessions directly to your home provided you are around North West London.

Personal Description:
I want to do research in sub-field of Quantum mechanics and am keen to go in research to a further level in String Theory. I have a lucid way of explaining the subject.
I am always being updated and upgraded to the knowledge of physics. It's my hobby, rather than an interest, to teach the Physics to A level and UG students.

Teaching Experience:

Currently I am A-Level Lecturer for Physics and Maths in Capital City academy.
Working as Physics & Maths Tutor
I have worked for four years as Physics teacher in school.
I have worked with three institutions as a Physics lecturer.
I worked as Physics Lab Co-ordinator.
I am supporting as STEM ambassadoring.

Personal Description:
I am a mathematical oriented person with good mix of computing, business analysis, and general sciences.

Teaching is fun for me, especially when I help support people to achieve their dreams.

Whether it be continuous support throughout the year, or purely exam preparation, I ensure students can more fully understand the subject and, crucially get top grades. I facilitate the ultimate goal of any student which is to get a complete understanding of the subject matter and to be able to achieve the right result/grade.

Teaching Experience:

I am familiar with all major exam boards (OCR, IGCSE, MEI, AQA, Edexcel) and for University level, the general structure/format of exams that institutions typically set.

I employ a pragmatic style that really delivers results and I generally look to significantly improve my student's grades to the highest attainable.

Furthermore, my main objective has always been to show my students how to master any line of study and be able to figure out solutions to any given problem set.

Tutoring Approach:

I maintain a very relaxed and friendly approach to teaching.

My approach is to first make student understand in a clear term what the goal is, make them master the subject matter, and test understanding by doing.

Personal Description:
I am a former Head of English and Assistant Headteacher in a local secondary school and have a very strong record of raising pupils' attainment. I have worked with all year groups, 7-13 (age 11-18), and have experience working with pupils with special needs, as well as having done lots of work on stretching more able students. English is my passion and it's one I am enthusiastic to share with others. I graduated from Oxford University in 2005 and am currently Senior Examiner at GCSE for one of the major exam boards, so I know what they really want to see! I am also a 'subject expert' in English at Ofqual. I now oversee the training and work of up to 80 examiners so have very significant experience in this area.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher in 2006, having taken my PGCE at Homerton College in Cambridge. Since then I have worked full time at a local school teaching English, although I have now returned to full time study so have better availability for tutoring. I have marked both GCSE English Language and English Literature for OCR and AQA and CIE, and also mark A Level. I am aware my price point is higher than others, but this reflects the years of teaching and direct examining experience which I will bring to your sessions; I believe I am very well placed to help students achieve their potential.

Tutoring Approach:

In consultation with student and parents/carers, we would put together a programme which would be tailored to meet the needs to of the student. I always try to create a relaxed atmosphere, and encourage humour!

Personal Description:
I am a UCL graduate, with Masters degree in Phonetics (Linguistic department).
I have a degree in Tourism and also studied English philology and teaching English as a foreign language.

Currently I work in a legal department, where I focus on providing training to law firms, barristers and law students.

One of my biggest passions are languages. I studied French, Spanish, Latin, Portuguese and Japanese, just to name a few.
I think that given the right approach, you can truly enjoy studying a language and it can be (and SHOULD be) a fun and exciting experience.

Teaching Experience:

I taught English as a Second Language for 2 years in a private school.
My one-to-one language tutoring includes teaching: English, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese.

I have been teaching on and off for about 10 years.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is very modern. I am a firm believer that the right environment and teaching style have massive impact on the learning curve.
I tailor sessions to fit individual's needs, I make sure that they get the most of the time spent during the class and that they engage throughout.
Some of the techniques I use focus around: mnemonic techniques (how to best remember AND retain the knowledge utilizing associations), pragmatic tools (being able to recognize the goal and tapping into the value of the information attained), removing the unnecessary clutter of teaching techniques that do not work for an individual.

Personal Description:
During my PhD at Cambridge in Physics (1995) and my university research career, I have helped students achieve outstanding results in Maths and Physics.

I have enjoyed tutoring since 2008. I am involved in venture capital work commercialising technology from universities in the UK and US.

I am also an author and enjoy working with all ages on English Composition and Conversational English.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience in Maths, Physics, and English composition was gained in universities in Cambridge, Nottingham and Sheffield, as both a student and post-doctoral researcher. I have been tutoring since 2008.

I have helped many students to gain confidence in Maths, and conquer the fear of algebra.

Working together, many students and adults achieve high marks and win competitions in Essay and Report Writing.

YOUNG PEOPLE 11+, PRE A-LEVEL: BIOLOGY, HISTORY, ENGLISH, PHYSICS
In typical responsive lessons, I am happy to help increase your understanding of Biology, History, English, and other subjects. I help with working through the problems and discussing them and the bigger picture. The topics become more real and easier to remember for exams. Bigger trends are discovered and the entire field starts to make sense.

ALL AGES:
I work with students and adults on TEST PREPARATION and have achieved excellent results in the following:
* SATS
* Verbal, Numerical & Abstract Reasoning
* Aptitude tests in the workplace for career advancement

ADULTS:
My work with adults on CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH has been praised for being interesting and creative, and is tailored to the individual. This could include visits to a museum or art gallery to discuss what we see, role play, story telling/writing, or even singing (a secret to achieving good pronunciation).

A strong area is Business MASTER'S DEGREES, using my understanding of business, and expertise in essay and dissertation writing:
* Research: literature review & interviews
* Interpreting & presenting data: to engage yourself & the reader
* Brainstorming: forming a strong thesis
* Organising the dissertation for a clear & persuasive argument
* The Look: making sure the style meets university requirements
PLEASE NOTE: I WILL NOT WRITE YOUR DISSERATION FOR YOU, OR BUILD ON ANOTHER DISSERTATION

Tutoring Approach:

Students find me friendly and enthusiastic. That enthusiasm is catching and my students grow to like their subject, gain great confidence, and achieve good results.

Personal Description:
I have 5 years experience working as a Spanish teacher in secondary schools in London teaching years 7 to 13, and my exam classes have a very good track record. I have worked with both Edexcel and AQA in this time, so I know what it takes to get the best grades, especially at GCSE. I am also very happy to work with younger children, helping them to feel more confident with mastering the basics in a language. If your child needs extra support or practice with any particular area, just let me know.

I have made several trips to South America, and have lived in Chile and Spain. I am also a fan of Spanish and Latin American films and literature, so if you would like to incorporate some more cultural aspects into lessons just let me know, as this can be very motivating.

Teaching Experience:

I am PGCE qualified, CRB checked, and have been working as a Spanish teacher for the last 5 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I get on well with children and young people, and would be happy to focus on any area with which they needed extra help. Sessions would be individually tailored and at the student's own pace. If there are any specific texts, exam boards or textbooks with which the pupil is working I would request some advance warning of this.

Personal Description:
Iain was born in 1986 in Dundee, Scotland into a large musical family, so unsurprisingly making music was all that he wanted to do from an early age. He first began to learn the trumpet in school aged seven, before joining his local brass band Dundee Instrumental on cornet at the age of ten. By the age of twelve, Iain had been promoted to principal cornet, a position he later went on to hold with several of Scotland's top bands, also including the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland. Many solo competitions were won along the way - including the junior section at the British Open Solo Championships at age eleven. Having gained two Trinity College diplomas before the age of eighteen, Iain took the advice of teacher David James and moved south to study music at the University of Salford, where his playing really began to blossom. Since then Iain has held positions as principal cornet with many of the UK's leading brass bands including his current seat with the world renowned Leyland Band. He has enjoyed many successful contest and concert performances, and is fast establishing a reputation as one of the finest cornet soloists of his generation, performing, adjudicating and giving master-classes as far afield as the USA, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Japan. In 2009 Iain was the recipient of a prestigious Dewar Arts award, awarded for performance in trumpet. This award allowed him to complete his postgraduate studies at Salford, graduating with an MA in Music (performance) in 2010. Iain is now a cornet tutor at the University of Salford where he is also undertaking researchinto focal dystonia in musicians, working towards a PhD. Iain recorded and released his first solo CD entitled "Vanguard" in August 2012, a release which has been met with great critical acclaim and has fast proven popular.

Iain is also an experienced guitarist and teacher of electric and acoustic guitar as well as the bass guitar.

Teaching Experience:

Salford University, Sefton Music Service, Love Music Trust, numerous private students, masterclasses and private teaching all over the UK as well as in the Netherlands, Denmark, USA, Japan, to name but a few.

Tutoring Approach:

Specialise in advanced students, performance, performance psychology, embochure related problems, and treatment of focal dystonia as well as other performance related problems.

Personal Description:
I am a native Russian speaker. I have pursued a full time career as a language tutor for over 15 years, teaching students from 3 to 70. I graduated in Moscow as a teacher of chemistry and biology for secondary schools. I worked for a period of two years in a school in Moscow. I came to the UK and started working for a Russian oil company in London involved in translations. In addition I worked as required as a Russian translator for the Bank of England. In 1998 I co-wrote a book called "Talk Russian" for the BBC which was used in support of a Russian language programme that they were presenting.

Teaching Experience:

I commenced working in the education sector in the UK in 1998.I was engaged as a preparatory school teacher in an independent school, where I continued to work until 2004 and was tutoring in my free time.
I became a full time Russian language tutor in August 2004 for students of all ages, children, teens, adults who need extra support and business professionals.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor each lesson to suit the student's needs. On the first lesson I identify areas for improvement and prepare an adapted teaching schedule to provide the maximum support for learning. My continuing approach depends on the type and needs of the student that I am tutoring. I have a total open mind, when I first meet them. The method of study will vary considerably .I make sure that the students enjoy the lessons and understand each step before progressing to the next one.
For very young students I use lots of games and activities to engage them and stimulate their mind, praising them with their progress.
I also tutor young people for their GCSE, A level, IB examinations, and undergraduates. I focus on improving their confidence and question answering technique in addition to providing them with a deeper understanding of conversational skills, grammar and comprehension of each topic. Closer to their exams, I concentrate on improving question techniques and creating links across the curriculum. I can also offer tuition of intensive exam preparation. My objective is to obtain the best results from each student.
For the business professionals, they generally need to improve their conversational skills, which I feature for them, but also include elements of grammar and spelling, to ensure a total understanding. It is important to help them find the way to learn.
I have access to several resources including Skype, where I utilise as support "Scribblar" and "Blackboard Collaborate" along with many other white board conference and collaboration tools, and use them accordingly.
I am a patient tutor and try to build trust with my students, which lead to fast progress, this being the top priority. It is a pleasure to pass on my knowledge to all of my students, and for me this is one of the most rewarding experiences ever.
I would really like to meet you and wish you the best for your Russian language studies. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Personal Description:
I am an OCR Chemistry A Level examiner (specification A) and a teacher in a sixth form college. I have a PhD in Biochemistry (Distinction) and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Distinction). Currently, I am only taking tutees studying the above mentioned specification, in order to provide highly specialised support. I offer tuition in person as well as online.

I have a PhD in Biochemistry (Distinction) and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Distinction). My hobbies are varied, but I would mention football and chess.

Teaching Experience:

I have been an A Level Chemistry classroom teacher for four years. The knowledge and skills gained from delivering this specification allows me to tailor lessons to my tutee's needs. My resources and worksheets range from introduction of topics to activities that challenge students to the A* grade. I am aware of typical problem areas where students struggle as well as common misconceptions, and I tackle them in ways that students feel comfortable with. In addition to A Level Chemistry, my classroom teaching experience also includes GCSE Chemistry and HND in Applied Chemistry Level 4 and 5 (equivalent to first and second year of a chemistry degree).

My experience as an A Level Chemistry examiner enables me to guide students on how to maximise their performance in exams. I work with my students through mark schemes, helping them to interpret them, and revise independently. I emphasise the need for accurate terminology in explanations and clear working out of calculations. Also, I help students understand the structure of standard exam questions as well as approaches to unfamiliar ones.

As a private tutor, my teaching approach varies depending on the needs of the tutee. I have experience in helping students starting A2 , resitting AS, students aiming for A*, and students with special needs.

Tutoring Approach:

In the first lesson I show original documentation for identity, proof of qualifications and DBS (previously known as CRB) to my students and their parents.

I offer the first lesson as a free no obligation lesson, which is only charged if students decide to continue to have further lessons with me. Therefore if after the first lesson you are not fully satisfied and decide not to come back, then you would not have to pay for it.

My approach to teaching students consists of the following steps:
-To establish a good atmosphere between the student and myself.
-To identify the student's current level and the difficulties they are experiencing in the topic we are going to start working on.
-To define the learning objectives for the session so that students have a clear idea of what they need to learn.
-To keep a continuous interaction with the student during the whole lesson though questioning and different activities in order to keep the student engaged whilst I can check if learning is taking place.
-To evaluate the session in terms of what the student has mastered and what needs further work.
-To set homework so that the student consolidates the acquisition of new concepts and skills.

Personal Description:
As a post-graduate and former scientist, I have been tutoring chemistry for over 9 years now. I am an easy going, down to earth person with a natural flare for teaching. I really enjoy helping people to understand difficult concepts and I've always found science captivating. I am the kind of person who is willing to go above and beyond to help if I am able to. I have experience with young people of all ages, from crèche to holiday clubs, teaching in schools and leading teenagers at summer camps.

Teaching Experience:

I have enjoyed studying science at university level for over 8 years, during which time I was also involved in teaching undergraduate students in labs and tutorials. Since then I've held a post in a pharmaceutical lab developing cancer therapies, as well as teaching chemistry, physics and biology in secondary schools. I studied for a PGDE to become a secondary school chemistry teacher in 2010 (but had to end the course early due to severe morning sickness). As such, I have been able to practice and develop a variety of teaching methods and I'm up to date with the relevant exam board course outcomes and requirements. Over the past 9 years, I have professionally tutored many students, covering Standard Grade, Intermediate 2, National 5, Higher, Revised Higher and Advanced Higher Chemistry, Revised Advanced Higher Chemistry, Higher Human Biology and first year University level Biochemistry. About 70% of my students have achieved at least 2 or 3 grade jumps since they started tutorials with me.

I have several positive references and a CRB enhanced disclosure, which will be available to view on request.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a friendly approach to tutoring. I like my students to feel at ease so that they are able to ask me anything. I'm of the mind set that no question is too silly to ask. My tutorials are structured and tailored around the individual student. Depending on the time we have available before an exam/NAB, we will identify key areas that the student experiences difficulty with and work through them addressing Knowledge & Understanding and Problem Solving, both of which are key to achieving the individual's desired grade. I endeavour to cover all topics of the course if we are able to, as I often find that there are areas that a student realises they are not up to scratch on once we start to revise it. I create personalised worksheets for my students and we spend a lot of time going through past papers, as well as developing exam/study technique.

As tutition progresses, I have witnessed a huge increase in the confidence that every one of my students hold in their own ability to problem solve as well as understand their given course work. I have often had comments from students and parents that I make things easy to understand and that the student is actually enjoying their course a lot more since commencing tutoring. I try to make myself available as much as possible to answer queries from tutees by e-mail or text, especially in the run up to class tests or exams.

Here's what one of my previous tutees had to say: "Dale tutored me throughout my higher Chemistry course and I honestly could not have got an A without her! She managed to explain the complex concepts essential to understanding chemistry in a way that I could relate to real life. She was always supportive and motivated me to do well. She was always flexible and able to fit in between my busy schedule. Even now when I have issues with my course work at Medical school I know I could drop her an e-mail with questions and she would be more than happy to help out. Overall Dale is fantastic, if you want a good grade whilst having fun she is your best bet!" - Eilidh.

All of my preparation time (typically 2 hours per session), travel time and travel expenses are included in the hourly rate. I prefer not to travel more than 7 miles from home but will still be happy to consider this.
