Personal Description:
Hi! I'm an Oxford graduate with a 2:1 in English Language and Literature. I graduated in 2013 and went on to study an MSc in Psychology at Oxford Brookes, in which I achieved a distinction. Since then, I have been working as an administrator and looking for ways to continue to engage with the subjects that interest me. Tutoring appealed to me at once as a rewarding way to put the skills that I learnt during my degree and masters to good use. Reading English at Oxford has honed my critical thinking, analytical abilities and study skills, while my masters has given me experience in data analysis and conducting research. In 2012 I also co-wrote a novel which was recently published in the UK, which really deepened my understanding of how to write effectively. I'd love to tutor others and help them to develop these skills too! In my spare time, I like to read and write fiction. My main address is in AL7, but I am also happy to tutor in Barnet and the surrounding area. As well as tutoring, I also specialise in editing, copy-editing and proofreading academic essays, job applications and CVs, and articles.

Teaching Experience:

I have successfully completed an assessment for the selective tutoring agency Blue Tutors. During the assessment I had to demonstrate my tutoring ability to a trained assessor, who described my communication skills as 'excellent'.
In my final term at Oxford, I volunteered with Schools Plus, a program which runs after school tuition sessions for struggling students in areas of economic disadvantage. I spent half a term working with GCSE English students, tutoring them on an individual basis in the run up to their January modules. As part of the selection process for the program, I also attended tutoring training.
When I was in the 6th form (in 2009), I also volunteered as a classroom assistant in my school. I was working with students who were having difficulty with essay-based subjects like History and English. I worked with two students in their History classes, helping them to understand the work they were set in class and working through it with them. I had to use my knowledge of French to help one student who had not yet learnt to speak fluent English, translating the teacher's instructions for her and helping her with words she did not understand. Between 2009-10, I helped to run two after-school classes for Key Stage 2 pupils, one in Literacy and Art and another in Drama. This involved planning and delivering lessons to classes of about 5-10 children, and keeping them engaged with the topics they were learning through activities designed to both teach and entertain.

Tutoring Approach:

My experience of tutoring in the past has shown me the importance of patience and respect in teaching. Especially in essay-based subjects, it is crucial that a teacher allows their pupils space to develop their own ideas, and respects their independent thought. Learning by rote has only limited usefulness: the best way to excel at a subject is to understand it, so I always explain concepts as fully as possible and move at the tutee's pace, making sure that they have properly grasped each concept or issue before moving on to the next. My Schools Plus training emphasised the idea that the goal of tutoring is to help a student to help themselves, enabling them to tackle problems rather than solving things for them. I think that this is fantastic advice, and it is a rule which I always try to bear in mind when tutoring.

Personal Description:
am an experienced A Level teacher and examiner for Economics. I currently teach both Economics and Business Studies to A Level and have helped in excess of 150 students achieve an A or an A*. The majority of the students that I work with will increase their grades by at least 1 whole grade.

I am one of London`s leading exam technique experts and regularly deliver exam focused workshops focusing on improving the analytical and evaluative skills that students so often lack and don`t focus on.

I can support you with carefully structured private lessons and guide you with the knowledge that I have gained as examiner for several of the main exam boards for both Business Studies and Economics.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently tutoring GCSE and A Level Economics and Business Studies (AQA and Edexcel for both Economics and Business). I mark exam papers for Economics and Business studies so can easily tailor your specific tutoring requirements to the exam requirements.

Tutoring Approach:

I will carrry out an inital assessment with you to ascertain where you struggle most of all, following this inital assessment we will set a plan to follow, setting target grades and regular assessment for you to complete. I will ensure that your lessons are fun and interactive but with the main aim of improving your target grade. I will ensure that the lessons are fun, interactive but most important of all ensure that you improve your understanding and therefore your final grade.

Personal Description:
Hi. I am a qualified secondary teacher and I specialise in English and Maths 1-2-1 tuition, from primary (KS1 and KS2) to GCSE level (KS3 and KS4) My teaching degree was completed successfully at Manchester Metropolitan University which is an 'outstanding' teacher training course provider who received a 'Grade 1' by Ofsted in 2010. I am quite flexible with regards to the times I can offer for the private tuition sessions. I am currently contracted to work in schools through Kirklees doing 1-2-1 tuition with children from Years 7-11.

I am a fully qualified teacher and hold PGCE & QTS (qualified teacher status) I am also a registered member of the GTC (general teaching council) and a member of ATL 'The Association of Teachers and Lecturers' and also the 'NASUWT'

Teaching Experience:

I have had an extensive range of experience teaching across many different schools in West Yorkshire. I have taught at KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5 levels in schools around West Yorkshire. I have also worked with special needs (SEN) children in schools across the Kirklees area. The work was very rewarding and this made me not only work harder but also allowed me to enjoy the work I was doing, this really motivated me in all aspects of my teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

As a teacher, I feel that any child who is lacking academically in their general work or their confidence needs to have some sort of additional help to equip them with the knowledge and skills which will be essential for them to use in the future. One to one tuition will allow your child to develop their understanding in areas of Maths and English which they might have found difficult to understand in school. It will also allow myself to help your child in specific areas of Maths or English which they don't feel confident with. I will try my utmost best to gather information about your child prior to them starting the tuition sessions such as gathering their reports from school and also their test and exam grades to help me identify their areas of weakness.

Personal Description:
Hi my name is Lina

I am available to help students learn different languages and improve their oral and written skills. I can help younger students prepare for their GCSE exams and I can also teach intensive 1-2-1 business level courses. I am available to teach face to face or online via Skype.

I am very passionate about travelling and find that my love for languages enables me to get the most out of my trips. I see languages as a key to unlocking different cultures and experiences that I may have may otherwise have missed out on.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught students aged between 12 and 80 from over 50 countries around the world. I have taught many different levels of German from ABC courses for students who could not read or write, up to advanced business courses.

As part of one of my roles I was involved with the German Immigration Ministry, which included providing courses and exams to people who wanted to live in Germany.

I can prepare students to take Test DaF,DSH and Zertifikat Deutsch exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I have been teaching languages for over 16 years now and I have lived and breathed the German culture for many years. This allows me to give students a real insight into the way of German life. I can use many real world examples in the way I deliver the course material, to help students better understand what is being taught to them.

Personal Description:
I'm married with three children, currently in their twenties, and with my wife have gone through the parental anguish of public and college/university exams every year since 2006 and will potentially do so for a few more!

I'm a professionally qualified accountant with an honours mathematics degree and a postgraduate certificate in education. I've had a career working in local government finance, supporting managers in managing their service budgets. I have particular interest in the relevant computer applications (e.g. spreadsheets), financial training and quality issues.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching practice at a Reading school.
Written and presented well-received financial training materials and currently lead a working group on training.
I've supported service managers with often limited numeracy ability to manage multi-million pound budgets.
While only one of my three children has a natural leaning towards scientific subjects, they got A, A* & B at Maths GCSE (fairly light-touch parental support, rather than any specific tutoring).
Tutored maths and Excel since 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

While always mindful of the immediate goal to pass exams and "get the grades", I endeavour to instill real understanding of the subject. While it would be great to hear I've helped turn a C into an A, I'd just as much hear that someone no longer fears or hates maths lessons.

Apart from Maths tutoring I can offer:

Excel Spreadsheet Support:
One-to-one sessions tailored to your needs, to learn new functions, pick up tips and good spreadsheet practice, problem solve on your current spreadsheets or help you build new practical spreadsheets.

Financial management for non-accountants: Are you one of those people given the responsibility to manage a budget at work, but feel you are lacking a bit of confidence and some of the skills to do it properly? Did you leave mathematics behind at school and feel it hasn't quite prepared you for this? I can hopefully help you build confidence in your own abilities and show that a bit of calculator common sense or spreadsheet savvy is not beyond you.

Personal Description:
I am a teacher at a GCSE and Sixth Form college in west London.
I have a podcast about education, Education Bookcast. I cover one book or article on education research per week, for the benefit of teachers, parents, and anybody else who is interested.
I have been tutoring since 2006.
I also write educational software.
I am a Chemical Engineering graduate from Trinity College, Cambridge.

Teaching Experience:

I started tutoring in 2006. My students have been of a variety of levels and backgrounds, ranging from Key Stage 3 Foundation level students to GCSE, A-level, and university students.

Here are some of the things my students have to say about me:

"Stas is an excellent tutor, I am studying Mechanical Engineering and his knowledge of Maths, Mechanics and Thermo Dynamics is extensive. He explained things in a clear and precise way and was always well prepared for the sessions. He was also punctual and reliable; it was a pleasure to learn from him."
Jack, Liverpool University

"I am currently studying Chemical Engineering, and Stas tutored me for Process Engineering, his teaching was nothing but the best, i understood the course in no time. He explains everything from the basics, something i wanted. Honestly, I will recommend him any day! He is a brilliant tutor."
Zahra, Manchester University

"Stas is an enthusiastic and patient Maths tutor. He has provided me with some very good examples, and has been a great help."
Jim, Manchester Metropolitan University, MA Bioinformatics

"Stas is a great tutor. I feel much more confident with Maths now then I did when we first started. It is evident in my grades that Stas has helped me improve in Maths. He is very good at explaining the material that I don't understand; he uses different scenarios to help explain them which enables me to apply Maths to real life situations. I enjoyed our tuition sessions, as Stas made Maths fun!"
Sehr, Manchester, A-level Maths

"This has been our first experience of using a tutor and it has been very good, thanks to Stas. Not only is he very reliable, but my son has enjoyed the sessions and learnt a great deal in terms of problem solving with his maths, Further Maths and Physics. Stas has also been able to help with some more complex Chemistry work. So far, they have worked through the more challenging sections of the Further Maths syllabus and past papers. Most importantly, my son finds their sessions extremely useful and Stas inspirational to work with."
Tamlyn, London

"My son, Alex was having problem with Biology, so far he had only few lessons with Stas but there's been a huge improvement in his grade already. We have been so impressed with Stas's teaching techniques, that we are taking on extra lessons in Maths and Physics with Stas. Stas is the most genuine teacher I've come across, there is no nonsense with him. I can see that Stas truly enjoys teaching and more importantly my son finds learning from Stas is so enjoyable."
Mel, Cheshire

"Stas has been extremely helpful. He has helped me with my math problems even though I am a mature Masters student. Stas was very patient with me and took the time to fully understand my math learning needs and difficulties. He took the time to understand the methods I had been previously taught but did not fully understand. He analyzed what my difficulties and issues were regarding math basics. Stas is a very professional and an effective teacher. I would highly recommend Stas to anyone who requires a math tutor."
Paola

Tutoring Approach:

Different people have different problems, so it would be somewhat inflexible to have a completely "catch-all" approach to how to teach people.

However, I tend to prefer a teaching style where the student is as active as possible. I usually acheive this by trying to get the student to reason through problems themselves, while helping them along the way. In my experience, this also helps me see where there are gaps in the student's knowledge, and helps me understand their thought process. (It is imperative to understand where the student is in their understanding.) It also helps approach a very common problem with students, which is fear, or lack of confidence - being encouraged to think through ideas and problems which they find difficult in a safe and non-judgmental environment can help them develop a better attitude to their subject.

I also try to offer connections with, and examples from, everyday life. I generally draw and use diagrams as much as possible, or even use props, as I find it to be the most expressive way of teaching.

I am also very enthusiastic about Science and Maths. I often find that this ends up rubbing off on some of my students!

Personal Description:
I am a dedicated and a compassionate individual. Currently studying for my law degree. During the weekends I work in retail which enables me to gain outstanding communication skills with people of all ages. For GCSES I achieved outstanding grades for all my 11 subjects. Furthermore at A-level I studied 5 subjects; English Lit, History, Law, Spanish and Sociology. I have access to past papers and useful revision books, my own notes from A-level and other resource materials. I feel education is one of the most important and essential things in life therefore everyone ought to take advantage and increase their knowledge! Due to my age, and having done exams not too long ago myself I feel very confident in helping students overcome exam stress and coursework pressure.

Teaching Experience:

I enjoy teaching, so in 2010 I did voluntary work abroad in a third world country where I taught under privileged youngsters. It was an amazing experience and the satisfaction of knowing you've actually taught them something is beyond describable!
Currently, for my law degree I have to go to primary and high schools in the borough to enlighten students about their basic rights if stop and searched by thr police.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring is the perfect job for me because I feel it will not only benefit the students, but it will benefit me too for my aspired career. Majority of students set themselves quite drastic and unrealistic goals, therefore, as a tutor I can actually observe them and set them personal goals which will help them attain their best in exams.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Oviedo with a BA in Spanish and another in English. I obtained my qualified teacher status in Spain via a Posgraduate course and when coming to the UK I obtained the validation of QTS for overseas trained teachers.

I am currently finishing a second master΄s degree in the UK with a view to continuing to PhD in the near future.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in Secondary Schools both in Spain and the UK.

I also have experience as a private tutor for adults and young adults in both countries.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to tailor the class to the specific needs and tastes of the student - specially the former is usually dismissed in class practices, but I believe in the importance of creating personal bonds with the area of study, which in the case of languages enables the student to digest and comprehend the new information in a different way. I personally vouch for after classes activities such as reading and watching films in the original language as a subtle but strong foundation for language proficiency.

Regarding classroom techniques, I believe in a combination of the Communicative Approach and more traditional techniques - I have access to abundant and varied resources for various levels. I am also keen on informal speaking classes for those willing to learn or improve their language away from the tiranny of grammar.

I have some experience preparing for various exams: GCSE, A-Levels and DELE.

I additionally offer specialised support for those studying Spanish at University level - which often implies a further understanding of the cultural and historical elements beyond the language. As a philologist, I can also offer support in more technical aspects such as linguistics (historical, biological and grammatical), phonetics and especially literature, my field of expertise. Contact me for details in that respect.

I offer assistance in writing essays in Spanish - correcting spelling and grammatical inaccuracies.

Tutoring Approach:

My approcah to teaching is best summed up as student-problem-based learning, in which the student attempts to solve problems that they have identified as of stimulating interest to themselves and relevant to their intended qualifications. I believe that all learning starts with the student's own first rudimentary explorations of an issue. I act as a conversational and critical guide through this journey, providing reading material, questions, and formal techniques of citation.

My YouTube channel, currently with 38,000 view, is available for my students to consult.

Typically, a student will select an issue/question in philosophy, we will discuss it one-to-one, and then the student will produce a short essay on the issue, which we will critically discuss in the following session.

I am also available for one-on-one study days (consisting of 6 hours each) for £160.

Personal Description:
I hold a BA degree in English and Greek Language and Literature (University of Athens, Greece) and an MA degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (University of Reading, UK). Given that you seek teachers who prove themselves keenly interested in helping students become high achievers at the same time being passionate about teaching, I believe my career profile will perfectly match your requirements. With over 24 years of experience in teaching various courses related to the English language, and having taught a range of students with varying English levels I possess effective teaching and organizational skills as well as the ability to motivate and direct my students towards learning and achieving desired goals. I enjoy tutoring students and helping them build up confidence in their ability to achieve, both academically and socially.

Teaching Experience:

Currently I am working on the foundation course of the University of Coventry, London Campus which provides high quality pathway programmes to prepare international students for undergraduate study at the university.
I have also taught English for Academic Purposes (EAP)at both the University of Surrey and the University of Southampton. This post has been another landmark in my EAP teaching career. My field of teaching included English Writing and Reading to future postgraduate students, something that gave me insight in the academic requirements of students in tertiary education. The principal aims were to develop students' confidence, fluency and accuracy in the four skills and to develop their communication skills, study skills and problem solving/analytical abilities to function effectively and efficiently at a postgraduate level.
I am also a professional Modern Greek tutor with profound experience of teaching Greek at all levels. During my studies in UK I was teaching Greek at the Greek Community Schools in London appointed by the Ministry of Education of Cyprus. Furthermore, I am delivering GCSE Modern Greek lessons to Greek adolescents born and bred in the UK. I have a real passion for teaching the language and I am very committed to my students' language progress, placing great emphasis on their communicative skills. My lessons are always carefully prepared and fully student focused.

Tutoring Approach:

My colleagues but mostly my students have given me credit for creating constructive changes in students' academic life by sharing with them my enthusiasm for teaching, proving myself sociable, team-spirited and devoted to my profession.
