Personal Description:
I am a 26-year old girl with a degree in History of Art and a Primary Postgraduate Certificate of Education and Qualified Teacher Status. I also have a DBS police check. I will start as a Year 3 teacher in September but have experience and passion teaching all ages and all subjects. If the subject you want is not written on my profile, please ask me if I teach it and I will be completely honest about my experience. I love teaching children and adults of all ages and find tutoring to be absolutely thrilling.

Teaching Experience:

I have just completed my QTS and PGCE in primary education, following 2 and a half years teaching English as a Foreign Language in China (and learning Mandarin) with 4 years EFL experience prior to that, teaching both adults and children of varying nationalities.

I am comfortable and knowledgeable in most subjects and enjoy teaching children, teenagers and adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I cater lessons to the individual needs of the student. I spend the first lesson getting to know the student's interests and learning handicaps so as to make my lessons relevant, engaging and enjoyable.

Personal Description:
After graduating from Trinity College Oxford with a first class Masters in Engineering I reflected upon the opportunities education had afforded me, the horizons it broadened and the skills it had developed. It was such a valuable gift I decided to teach. I have also had a broad range of other career experience from healthcare to investment banking, this helps me to offer practical advice and guidance to A Level students considering their career.

Teaching Experience:

I've now taught in a variety of schools from an inner-city London school to more recently completing a period as Head of Physics in the Middle East. I now work as a Physics teacher at a top independent school is West London. I have tutored for over seven years, gaining increasing satisfaction from watching young peoples' mind develop and confidence grow.

I am an exam board examiner and moderator, which is a great insight into how to prepare pupils for examinations as well as address their wider educational needs. Education is a crucial part of any persons' life and as such I approach tutoring with both rigour and passion!

In addition to helping student achieve their best grades at GCSE, IGCSE and A Level, I have also been successful in tutoring students for common entrance. I have helped students secure places at Winchester, Westminster and Eton.

Tutoring Approach:

Building self confidence and fostering a love for the subject is my overall aim. To do this I endeavour to establish a close working relationship with each tutee based on trust and their confidence in me to facilitate their exam success as well as address their wider educational needs. Thought process, rather than content, lies at the heart of my ambition to develop self sufficient learners yet I appreciate than content and technique cannot be understated when preparing for exams.

Personal Description:
I am a twenty-seven year old student living in Tooting, London. I am an actor having completed a three-year diploma in professional acting from The Oxford School of Drama. Before this I gained a First Class BA (Hons) in English Literature and Drama from the University of Sheffield.

I have a real passion for education and feel I am perfectly placed to help students having just completed my actor training I know what constitutes good teaching.

Having a degree in English Literature and Drama means I would be confident to tutor in English Literature, English Language, Theatre Studies and Drama at A Level or below.

I can also direct speeches for drama school entry and advise on applications.

Teaching Experience:

I am experienced in teaching ages 7-19.

I have also run large group workshops with secondary and primary school children.

I have also studied teaching techniques used in museums and devised theatre projects to communicate exhibits to varying age ranges.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer that the best way to learn is by interaction. I am myself a creative learner, and thus my teaching takes a creative slant.

I am passionate about theatre and the power that human interaction has on learning so I embark on lively lessons designed to create enthusiasm for subjects - so students will not just see them as perfunctory nuisances. I am also incredibly logical and a rigorous planner, who can create realistic targets and see them come to fruition.

Personal Description:
I'm a humanitarian worker with a keen interest in languages, history, politics, and philosophy.

Postgraduate studies:
MSc, 2:1 in Political Theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2015). A political philosophy course in the analytic tradition including modules on liberalism, egalitarianism, feminist theory, and two outside modules on conflict and humanitarianism.

Undergraduate studies:
BA(Hons), 2:1 in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic from Cambridge University (2010). Included modules in history, politics, literature, and religious studies, as well as Arabic language. I spent the third year of my studies living in Damascus, Syria, and speak the Syrian dialect, as well as having a solid grounding in Modern Standard grammar. Since graduating I have worked in Iraq, Jordan, Turkey, and Israel.

A-levels:
My A-levels were in English Literature, Philosophy & Ethics, French, and History (AAAB), and I also took an AS-level in Spanish (A). I have lived in France and Spain and speak both French and Spanish to a high level of fluency. I was also raised bilingual with English and Italian.

Teaching Experience:

In addition to tutoring family friends in Italy over the summer holidays (in English), I've exchanged English and Spanish lessons for Arabic lessons. I also taught English to two groups of 20+ Arab teenagers at a high school in Israel from September - December 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in cultivating a vigorous work ethic in students, which is best done through close supervision and encouragement. The work covered will involve both the curriculum required by the student's course as well as helpful extras tailored to the student's abilities and personality. I will provide these extras to increase the student's understanding of the subject and help him/or her reach a standard of excellence that will be noticed by teachers and examiners alike.

I find the most common problem students have is not with the subject itself, but with the teacher or the insufficient attention they get in the classroom. A stress-free but diligent approach will allow us to build trust, which will give the student renewed confidence in his or her abilities. Students who push themselves with me will be rewarded for their hard work by realising that the subject they once dreaded is actually really enjoyable when approached from a new angle.

Personal Description:
I am an English and Spanish Postgraduate Student with a Master's degree in Spanish and Teaching Foreign Languages. I am a Spanish native speaker but I was raised bilingually between Spain and the UK. I really enjoy teaching Spanish and English, since they are both part of my background.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Spanish and English privately for 5 years. This private tuition consisted in one-to-one or small group classes. I also taught Spanish at West Virginia University (USA) for two academic years and English at a Language School in Spain for two years. In these contexts, classes were bigger, from 5 to 25 students per class. I currently teach Spanish Language and Literature at University of London.

Tutoring Approach:

I always try to adapt my teaching method to the student's preferences and learning style, but I think it is very important to promote communication in the target language as much as possible during the lesson. This makes students more confident and also facilitates language acquisition greatly. It is also essential to make the lesson as entertaining and dynamic as possible, because if the student is enjoying the lesson, they will learn more easily and quickly.

Personal Description:
I have a dual background in Electrical Engineering and Psychology and retired in 2007 after 20 years as a University lecturer. At different stages in my career I have taught telecommunications engineering, computer programming, software engineering, artificial intelligence and psychology. For relaxation I listen to jazz and blues.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring students since March 2008 and am able to offer maths, physics and ICT from primary up to 'A' level, and general science (biology, chemistry, and physics) up to GCSE level. I have taught GCE A-level Maths, Further Maths and Physics with a number of students who have obtained places at Oxbridge/ Russell Group Universities to study Engineering, Maths, Medicine and Economics. A number of my tutees have been following courses in IGCSE Maths or Science or the IB in Maths or Physics. I have also taught students with Statements of Special Educational Need who have succeeded in obtaining qualifications in Functional Skills in Maths, English and Science. I am familiar with the 11+ exam requirements of Bromley, Bexley, and Kent education authorities and have assisted a number of pupils with their preparation for the exam. (In the absence of this category in the Subject list, my fee for 11+ preparation is 24/hour and for 13+ (Common Entrance) 26/hour.). At postgraduate level I can advise on research methods and statistics.

I am a chartered psychologist and can carry out educational and psychological assessments of both children and adults who are experiencing learning or language difficulties (however, I do not undertake remedial teaching).

Tutoring Approach:

I consider it important to assess the student's needs, strengths, and weaknesses carefully at the outset in order to develop a set of goals based on this assessment. I aim to provide well-structured and clearly presented instruction, which if the pupil is able and well-motivated will generally lead to progress. If the pupil is poorly motivated and/or has acquired unhelpful learning habits then we may need to vary the approach in order to re-engage their interest and/or find a level at which they can perform successfully, and then build on this accomplishment.

If required, I can provide references from past and present clients. I also offer a free first lesson so that the student has the opportunity to experience my style/approach before committing themselves to further lessons.

NOTE: During the summer holiday, I am not available for in-person lessons, but can offer lessons via Skype on either weekdays or weekends.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic mathematician with an ability to communicate well. I have a first class degree in Maths and Chemistry. I would like to help students by either guiding and supporting them in their exam preparation or by developing their confidence and increasing their skillbase in maths.

I have experience of taking students through SATs, GCSEs, and A-Levels both in school and in private tuition with excellent results. Please note however that if you are a student at the University of Salford I will be unable to offer private tuition due to a conflict of interest.
In 2015 I was invited to guest lecture and take on the role of medical director of studies at Cambridge, lecturing to medical students at Corpus Christi College. A post to which I shall return in 2016 I completed my PhD in rheumatology in 2009 at the University of Central Lancashire. Privately I mainly teach Biology, science, PE and study skills.I am also able to assist with other health related topics.
Prior to working within education I was a Chartered Physiotherapist within the NHS for 13 years at hospitals in my local area, achieving Senior I grade. During this time I assumed the role of Clinical Educator for students of Physiotherapy thus beginning my teaching career. While working within the NHS I was also the Physiotherapist to the England Women's football team for three years. This was a unique and memorable experience and I was immensely proud to represent my country, working with such talented individuals both at home and during tours of countries including France, Denmark, Italy, Iceland, Bulgaria, and the Soviet Union. I am an internationally published author, having written and edited eight textbooks which have been translated into eleven languages, covering subjects as diverse as anatomy, assignment writing, study skills and health studies. I have been an external examiner at the Universities of East London, and Bradford for postgraduate study and currently the University of Liverpool on their undergraduate physiotherapy programme . This role includes monitoring marking quality, exam board actions ,modifications to syllabus and teaching and learning consultancy.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring privately for several years now. I began teaching in a professional capacity whilst working in a hospital environment where I became a Clinical Educator for undergraduate Physiotherapy students from Universities in the region. This role involved teaching and training undergraduate students within hospitals. Eventually my enthusiasm for teaching overtook that of my day job and I began teaching at Salford University on a part time basis, becoming a full time member of staff within the School of Health Sciences in 1996. I am the longest serving member of staff in the department and enjoy my job, and the interaction with students, as much now as when I first began teaching. Please note that if you are a student at the University of Salford I will be unable to offer private tuition due to a conflict of interest.

Teaching at a university entails a range of teaching methods including lecturing to hundreds of students, small and large group seminar-based sessions and a mix of theory and practical skills. Since 1998 I have been the Year One tutor which involves a pastoral element as many students are having their first experience of independence away from friends and family.

As a private tutor both in my own home and in the tutees home I mainly focus on one to one tuition which I find hugely rewarding as I am able to dedicate unwavering attention to the tutee and their chosen subjects. I have experience of teaching students from diverse backgrounds and ranging in age from 14 years to 50 years.

In 2009 I won the first ever Teaching Excellence Award at Salford University, and the following year was nominated for the Times Educational Innovative Teacher Award - both nominated by my students, a fact of which I am extremely proud.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a friendly and informal approach to teaching as I believe a relaxed environment is most conducive to learning regardless of subject or age, however i am aware that privvate tuition is a serious commitment and it is very important that there is a clear structure to the sessions. I am familiar with the syllabus for OCR, AQA and EDEXCEL for G.C.S.E., A level and degree. The first session will include an informal discussion with parents/tutee to gain an understanding of the tutees requirements and to explain my role and how I can aid learning.
The structure of the sessions are largely dictated by the tutee, the subjects they wish to focus on and their preferred learning style and this can be discussed at the first session. As the student develops, the structure can be adapted in line with this.

Additional Information

While I prefer to teach in my own home under certain circumstances I may be able to travel to the student. This will be subject to the inclusion of travelling costs in addition to the tuition fee. This will be undertaken by prior arrangement; please indicate your requirements on initial contact.

I am also able to offer the additional educational services:

• literature searching
• proof reading
• essay planning
• essay structuring

As I work full time I will require notice to complete any of these tasks and I am unable to write complete assignments as this would be unethical.

Thanks very much for viewing my profile.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Imogen and I'm 23 years old. I am a recent graduate from the University of Kent and completed a year abroad in Paris. I studied French, with modules in International Relations, Politics and German. I previously studied the International Baccalaureate instead of A Levels and whilst doing this tutored a 16 year old girl in GCSE French - she went from a C to an A with just simple tutoring of the basics. I graduated with a 2:1, with all my grammar modules being awarded a first.
My year abroad was spent with a French company, improving my French by being surrounded by solely French speakers! I returned from working and living in the French language feeling hugely confident in my foreign language abilities across all disciplines (listening, reading, writing and speaking).
Currently, I work in construction but use my French to liaise with occasional sub contractors and supply chain. Tutoring is my way of continuing with French before being able to get employed by a French construction company down the line.
I believe that I have a friendly approach to tutoring - and I am confident in my approach with my current 8 and 11 year old students who are mentored in different ways.

Teaching Experience:

As previously mentioned, I tutored a 16 year old girl in GCSE French. Over the 9 month period, we improved on her basic grammar skills and reading and listening skills also. From this site, which I joined in December 2012, I gained one student very quickly and during our 4 months tutoring sessions, she improved her basic understanding tremendously, progressing from a D to a B for her oral exam in April.
My tutoring has continued as part of my job at a school, holding outside the classroom small group sessions.
I am currently tutoring siblings, who are moving to France this year with their family. My approach varies with each of them and I have already seen leaps and bounds of improvement from them both!
My success rate demonstrates my ability to work well as a tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

In terms of my approach to tutoring, I like to assess what the tutee finds difficult and try and work in a different way to how they are accustomed to to see if it helps at all. I draw a lot from my experiences as a student as I have found the ways in which I have been taught very easy to understand. I would like to say that my approach is a lot more suited to children because, like them, I am a student too and I understand what they are coping with and how their mind works. Listening is of key importance and I make sure that I listen to what my tutee is trying to say.
