Personal Description:
I am someone who very much enjoys teaching and helping others to achieve their own personal best. It is very important to me that my students enjoy their lessons, continue improving in their ability and I am always happy to receive feedback on how the student feels throughout our work together.
As the mother of four grown children, the youngest being twenty four years old, I am someone who is very empathetic towards young people and adults who need my help. Together with my teaching, I work as a volunteer for two charities; this has given me a great deal of experience at working with others, helping them to the best of my ability.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a variety of schools, both State and Independent, have a great deal of experience at teaching English, preparing pupils for Common Entrance examinations and have co-ordinated English at Key Stages 3 and 4. I have also been in charge of co-ordinating PHSE and have been in charge of a Foundation Year for overseas students. Furthermore, I have a great deal of experience in teaching both able children and those who who have specific learning difficulties, helping them to grow in confidence and to realise that they can do well.
I have always been a popular and conscientious teacher and have helped many young people do very well in public and Common Entrance examinations, often helping them to achieve results they and their parents had only dreamed of. I am equally happy teaching young people and adults and I will endeavour to make any lessons I teach enjoyable and educational.

I have tutored for several years, and very much enjoy working in a one-to-one situation.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is a simple and effective one. I work out what a pupil needs and work hard to ensure that they achieve the right tuition to achieve their own personal best. I build up a good rapport with my students and have remained friends with many of my students and their parents since working with them. It is important that a student feels confident in their own ability and I always work hard to ensure that a student feels a great sense of achievement in what they do. My approach is enthusiastic, energetic and sympathetic, resulting in a good experience for those concerned who are working with me.

Personal Description:
I love teaching, it has been my life's work. For me it's more than just a profession, it's a state of mind and soul, when you as a teacher and a person want to constantly grow and develop, open new doors and look into new cultures. It isn't just for self-development but for sharing with students and carrying them with you. I can help you to learn Russian with confidence, step by step, at your own pace. I'd like to share the knowledge of Russian with you and to open the door to this huge world of Russia.

Teaching Experience:

I've worked as a senior teacher at Kazan State University, one of the oldest and biggest universities in Russia where I authored and published a textbook "Great Britain and the USA".

For a few years I've been teaching spoken and business Russian to executives at blue chip companies among which is Johnson & Johnson.

Tutoring Approach:

I have mastered a wide range of methods which affords me to be quite flexible in teaching and to make each lesson a tailored one where the main principal is to simplify things, not to complicate them. I will help you to learn, step by step, at your own pace.

My priorities are my students' confidence and convenience while studying, and their satisfaction with the final results. That's why I'm so very proud to say that my students have achieved many of their goals, whether it's just a simple trip to Russia or passing their exams, living in bilingual families, helping their companies to strengthen relations with Russia and even working and living in Russia.

I provide my students with all the necessary materials as well as offer free interactive games that they can play after lessons to increase their vocabulary.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced private tutor and mentor who enjoys working with committed students who want to develop their minds as well as acquire examination skills. I currently work full-time from home. I am also able to offer Classical Civilisation, Theology, and courses in Christian Spirituality and to assist with all aspects of university entrance. In addition to my tutorial work, I write and edit texts. I am a grandfather and enjoy the fresh challenges of early learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in state and independent schools in the UK, holding posts of Head of Department, Senior Master, and Headmaster (overseas). I have experience of teaching students from a variety of cultural backgrounds. I have mentored post-graduate students and proof-read theses and dissertations. For twenty years, in addition to teaching, I have been the Director of a small charity working on medical and educational projects in a village in Kenya. Since 'retirement' I have been tutoring from home. Most of my students have stayed with me for three years or more, while others have required short-term support for particular units of study.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning is the path to discovery, joy and well-being and that tutoring and mentoring focus on the needs of the learner. While there are countless resources available for learners on the internet, I offer a personal, non-judgmental approach that seeks to inspire and encourage the student at an important stage in their life journey. My approach is pastoral as well as academic, having regard for the individual needs of my students.

Personal Description:
I am an honours graduate of computer science and electronics. I spent 17 years in corporate management before becoming self employed as, among other things, a freelance lecturer. I am a professional life coach and tutor for enjoyment.

Please note, I will generally add a call out fee to the tuition fee shown, which goes some way to covering petrol and time in getting to you and home again. This is usually 6 or less - I can confirm the final figure with you when I know approximately where you are.

Teaching Experience:

I taught freelance for Bedford College for 4 years, and have been tutoring for 9 years. I have qualifications in adult teaching, and my coaching qualification also helps a lot.

Tutoring Approach:

Effective tutoring is a wonderful opportunity because I can tailor what I do very specifically for the student I'm working with, and that's as much about their personality and stress levels as it is about the material we're working with. I believe in teaching understanding rather than isolated rules, it builds confidence and security and does not rely on memory. My sessions are as relaxed and fun-filled as I can possibly make them without sacrificing the learning task before us.

Personal Description:
I am a teacher of Sociology and Psychology with extensive experience (over 14 years) of teaching both subjects at A level (AQA specification). I am passionate about my subjects and enjoy working with young people and passing on this passion and motivating them to reach their potential.

My teaching style is very interactive using students' existing knowledge and developing this further. Students are persuaded to stretch themselves and work as hard as possible in order to achieve success.

I have the ability to convey understanding in relation to complex areas of both subjects and I am able to communicate effectively to people at different academic levels and of varying academic ability.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience teaching the AQA specification for both Psychology & Sociology. I have an excellent track record with 80% of Sociology students and 70% of Psychology students achieving grades A-B (June 2013 results).

For the past 14 years, I have also taught private students both subjects at A level on a one-to-one and small group basis. Many of my students have continued to study these subjects at degree level.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is very student-centred, tailored to each student's individual needs. I tend to use a two-way interactive approach with a focus on problem areas and difficulties that the student may need to work through. I like to use a variety of teaching techniques such as discussions, white board and powerpoint slides.

I believe that in order to achieve success students benefit from learning good exam techniques and also by working through past exam papers and plenty of practice answering exam questions.

Personal Description:
I currently work at Ford as an Engineer at their Dagenham Engine Plant. I have finished 2 out of 3 years of a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Surrey looking to enter 3rd year after my one year placement. I previously did my A Level and GCE O level in college and high school respectively along with foundation year studies. I like to help people learn and grasp Physics and Mathematics as I believe I am good at those subjects. I am a pleasant individual to get along with and I do enjoy helping various students with my knowledge. Since I am young and a student, I think I can understand the problems students go through in this day and age thus can help him/her in many ways. I also am able to help the student not only with regards to academic exam improvement, but general study procedures having effectively used them myself or learnt from other people during my university studies. I can help my student do well for his/her future and be the best they can be.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored a student for grade 10 and 11 culminating in a massive improvement towards her GCSE Science grades. In this role, I have gone above and beyond for my student helping her in whichever way I could by working flexible hours, providing an amazing learning environment and ensuring I was always on hand to help with any queries. Also, I have helped my friends try and learn certain aspects which they did not understand regarding Physics and Maths. I am able to do a good job with a proven track record.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a friendly approach to tutoring. As in, I try to establish a slight level of friendship with the student as I think this is key for the student to enjoy his/her tutions. Subsequently, if he/she is enjoying the tutions, he/she will understand what I am going to teach more easily. I try to relate what I am teaching to practical examples in life where possible, and give sample questions during and after each topic to ensure the student has fully grasped the topic.

As exams are approaching I try and ensure he/she has learnt his/her notes which by now would have been summarised and easy to read in preparation for exams. I test the student with past papers near exams as I feel this helps him/her face similar situations to what he/she would face in the exam. I generally mark quite strict as I feel this would help the student be better prepared for the exam.

I ensure I know everything the student needs to know so that I am able to explain clearly to ensure the main points are understood. I am very patient and can repeat the point many times in various ways if required.

One key point which sets me apart from all the other tutors is that I have first hand knowledge in what it takes to enter a good university along with career advice. I also ensure I provide dedication to the job and give everything I have to help improve my student's chances of success. All in all, I provide a holistic approach to my tutoring and ensure the student's needs come first always.

Personal Description:
Ex financial advisor with a degree in Civil Engineering an inbuilt passion for Maths who after the birth of my son finally after years of contemplation decided to train to become a secondary school maths teacher.

Teaching Experience:

Currently working exclusively in the maths department at a comprehensive in Cardiff as a learning support assistant. My roles include teaching intervention groups of up to 6 students from years 7,8 and 9 key stage 3. The rest of my time is focused on key stage 4 students to help them secure a C or above on upcoming GCSE exams, this is either on a one to one basis or in groups. Also conduct after school classes twice a week for year 11 students again looking to guarantee GSCE grades of C and above.

Tutoring Approach:

I find a relaxed confidence building approach works well for me and I already tutor a couple of students in the Cardiff area who have enjoyed significant improvements with their work. Its very important to me that students have a sound foundation when it comes to maths, not just for exams but also for life in general and a full understanding is essential. For key stage 3 students having access to resources such as Big Maths and Can Learning allows me once areas of weaknesses have been identified to quickly plug any gaps they may have. For key stage 4 students with access to numerous GCSE past papers once the understanding is there its a case of knowing how to answer types of exam questions depending on the exam board they are working under.

I am also able to help students applying to study medicine with interview preparation, and preparation for the UKCAT and BMAT exams. I am also able to help with Oxbridge interview preparation for students applying to study medicine, medical sciences, natural sciences, biology or other similar courses.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as a full time tutor giving one to one tuition in biology, chemistry, physics and maths. At school I spent a lot of time helping other students who were struggling with their studies. Other students at school often asked me for help with their academic work because i am good at explaining complicated concepts in a way thats easier to understand. I am always very patient and have very good problem solving skills. I spent an hour a week for 6 months volunteering at a local primary school teaching the children to read and use computers. I have now been working as a full time tutor for sever months.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very good at explaining difficult concepts in a way that is simpler and easier to understand. I am also calm and patient with students who find it hard to understand a subject. I usually work through topics areas or questions that the student is finding particularly difficult or we can go through past papers or work on exam technique. I think that all students learn in different ways and so I try to tailor the sessions to the individual student.

Personal Description:
I'm a friendly, approachable person who enjoys supporting students to learn and develop their skills and confidence. Students tell me that I'm encouraging, patient, fun, supportive, organised and explain things well.
I enjoy supporting overseas students who are studying at university in the UK and can help you to develop your academic English skills, confidence and help with proof reading and preparation of university coursework, essays and assignments.
I also work with adults who live in the UK who want to improve their reading and writing skills. These may be native English speakers or people who have English as a second or additional language.

Teaching Experience:

I have a PGCE in Adult, Higher and Further Education with a subject specialism in Adult Literacy. I've taught literacy in FE colleges and in community education and have tutored adults privately. I've taught in London, Hertford, Bolton and Stockport and have over 6 years' literacy teaching experience. My students do well in their exams and build confidence in a secure and supportive environment. I have been rated Grade 1 'Outstanding' in all my teaching inspections.
I have a RSA/Cambridge CELTA (Grade B) Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults. I have over taught academic English at Manchester Metropolitan University and ESOL in further education colleges in the UK. In addition, I've taught EFL at language schools in London and Manchester in the UK, and in Poland, China and Japan. I have over 6 years' experience teaching EFL.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to get to know students and understand how they like to learn and what learning styles don't work for them. I spend time finding out what students find easy and difficult and what their goals for learning are. We can set targets together and really focus on what you need to achieve. It's important to me that students feel comfortable and supported in their learning in order to make good progress. I will plan for our sessions based on your learning goals and mark work and go through it with you.
I am organised, experienced and have been graded 'Outstanding' in all my workplace teaching inspections.
If you're an overseas university student I can develop your academic English skills and help with course work, proofreading essays and projects etc.
If you're an English speaker but want to improve your reading and writing to get promotion at work, help your kids with their learning, or to brush up your skills before studying again or for any other reason, I can help with all of this, too.

Personal Description:
I am an outgoing, enthusiastic and passionate tutor. I am currently completing my legal training at BPP Law School, having graduated in BA Geography from Oxford University in 2011. From a young age I have demonstrated sustained academic success through hard work, diligence, and a genuine enjoyment for learning. I believe these are qualities which are crucial to achieving your academic goals and which therefore equip me to thrive as a personal tutor.

Currently in education, I have extensive and up-to-date experience in what is required to obtain the top grades at all levels, including GCSE and A-level. Having been educated at both Westminster School and Oxford University, I have been exposed to high academic expectations. This has equipped me with a set of highly effective study skills which I endeavour to pass onto my pupils.

BA (Hons.) Geography at St Peter's College, Oxford University 2008-2011

GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law), BPP Law School 2012-2013

Teaching Experience:

Experience in tutoring and consulting over the past three years, including:

11+ after-school tutor sessions.

GCSE and A-Level tutor sessions.

Secondary school and university interview preparation.

Consulting on geographical issues at Ditshwanelo, a human rights charity located in Gaborone, Botswana.

I am also affiliated with other leading tutoring agencies.

Tutoring Approach:

Rapport:
It is first essential to recognise that each pupil is different, with a unique set of concerns and goals. It is therefore crucial to identify these individual needs before working towards the pupil's goals in a way which best suits them.

Targets:
I believe it is important to identify a pupil's targets as early as possible. This gives us both a clear beginning and end-point, and enables us to identify what steps need to be taken to achieve our goal.

Participation:
Developing a learning environment in which the pupil is confident enough to participate in discussion is essential. I therefore focus on building their confidence and encouraging contribution and creative thinking. I also endeavour to lead them to a stage where they are no longer afraid of learning from their mistakes.

Practice/Exam technique:
A key element of exam success is practice. I therefore concentrate on developing my pupil's exam technique by doing past paper questions. This increases their confidence and familiarises them with the types of questions they will take in the exam.

Through a combination of the above, tutoring can be both rewarding and enjoyable.

Personal Description:
Hi,
My name is Andrew. I am a PhD student, living in Exeter. My PhD is in Clinical Veterinary Science with the University of Bristol and Rothamsted Research. As an undergraduate I studied Biology with Applied Environmental Science at Keele University and achieved a 1st Class BSc (Hons). I have studied/worked at four universities in three different countries and have also done research for two research organisations. I have a broad range of experience having conducted Environmental Impact Assessments, used by Staffordshire County Council, worked with Orangutans in Malaysia, and studied wheat production in China. My current work focuses upon parasitic infections within farm animals. My breadth of experience means I have a knowledge in the small, such as genetics and molecular biology, up to large ecosystem biology. I have a real passion for the sciences and I feel that comes across and get's passed on to others.

Teaching Experience:

I have demonstrated in undergraduate labs for the University of Bristol Veterinary, teaching practical and theoretical work. On numerous occasions Keele University have asked me to come back or to contact younger students to advise them, an opportunity I always relish. Through my non-academic life I have been a Scout Leader and Lifeguard and am used to teaching and educating individuals from all walks of life.

Tutoring Approach:

It is important that students understand and not simply learn facts. I aim to make students reach the answers themselves by taking them through a logical process. Not only does this allow them to understand why answers are as they are, but it also develops a skill that is extremely important at higher levels such as A-levels and degrees. Whilst biological systems are often extremely complex I find it is normally possible to break them down and explain them in a simple manner before building upon details afterwards. For example: the process of DNA replication can be compared to that of a zip and enzyme binding can be compared to a lock and key.

My essay and report writing have always gained me high marks and, especially at degree level, I am very aware of what is asked of students and what gains access to the higher marks.
