Tutoring Approach:

I aim to tailor my tutoring approach to the specific individual or group and to enable students to simplify their approach to studying while balancing their workload with other commitments. Personal Description:
I am a young and energetic person who strongly believes in building relationships with students that support their learning. I love travelling, literature (both classic and contemporary) and sports (especially football, rugby and cricket).

Teaching Experience:

I have six years experience teaching in Wales, Bristol and at The Ashcombe School in Dorking, teaching across all age ranges. I currently teach English from Year 7 to GCSE (AQA exam board) and Media Studies and English Literature at A level (AQA and OCR exam boards, respectively). I have previously taught to the WJEC (Welsh) exam board and am willing to tutor to other exam boards as required.

Tutoring Approach:

I can give your child the support they need to build their confidence so they feel more able to complete school tasks, homework, coursework and exam revision. At exam level, I build on school work, revising techniques and consolidating the skills and topics learned so that students can reach their full potential in external exams. At the highest level, I will guide your son or daughter through textual annotations and literary study.

I bring an innovative and personalised approach to tutoring so your child never needs to feel that tutoring sessions are an extension of school; instead they are a way to look at English (or Media Studies!) in a positive light so tutees can enjoy learning.

Personal Description:
Private Tuition has evolved into my passion and will increasingly become my sole occupation.

Because of the success rate and personal enjoyment that I obtain from private tuition, I have been able to reduce my full time post of English teaching, and I now enjoy working part time. Because of this, I am very flexible with working hours and can usually fit around the days and times that you require.

I am trust worthy, honest and passionate about my job. I know that I possess a skill in teaching English to an incredibly high standard, and I enjoy making a difference to young people's lives.

I am a family man, with a wonderful son and another on the way! Because of the pivotal part that my family play in my life, it has enhanced my understanding of just what an important job it is that I do for other families, when they look to ensure that their children have the best start to life. I therefore take this role incredibly seriously, and do everything to ensure that success is gained.

Teaching Experience:

Perhaps the most important factor that any parent should be interested in is not the experience of the teacher, but how good they are now, and how good they will be for their child. The most prominent factor that will indicate this is the rating that a teacher is given. Currently, I consistently achieve a classification of 'outstanding', which is the most sought after rating that a teacher can aim for.

I have held the post of Head of English at my current school, and I have led a team of exceptional English teachers. Having held other management positions in other schools as well, with management focus on both key Stage 3 and 4, I have built up a wealth of experience and knowledge that I can now put to good use within the sphere of personal tuition.

I am also an experienced examiner, having marked for a leading exam body for five years now. This has helped me enormously to build up a very clear understanding of what exam boards require from students.

Last year's results saw a continuation of my fine record of exam success, where my class achieved 100% A-C in their GCSE examinations. My current year 11 class are predicted to have 5 A*'s, 10 A grades and fifteen B grades. This will be the finest set of English class results in the school's history.

I have built up tremendously successful working relationship with my clients, and parents who I currently work for, and worked for, have happily created testimonials for me which I would be able to provide for your perusal upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

My largest concern for my students is to make sure that their confidence is built up by becoming pro-active and independent learners. All too often tutors 'spoon-feed' their students, leading them to a false sense of security in their skills, which therefore leads to poor performance in examinations.

Any fruitful approach to tutoring must ensure that the assessment objectives are catered for in tutoring. Every exam board and every exam has certain assessment objectives that must be met if students are to be successful. As engaging and as fun as I try to make my sessions, I am well aware of the crucial need to fundamentally ensure that these assessment objectives are covered.

Personal Description:
I enjoy trying new things and experiences. In the past I have represented various institutions in Football, Rugby, American Football and Baseball. I have presented and produced over 24 hours of radio shows on student radio. I have done many of the UK's longer walks and trails including the Dales Way and the Coast-to-Coast. I have hiked through the mountains of Texas and rafted down the Colorado River. I can even pronounce Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

I am constantly learning new things, even new methods of factorising. You can never view yourself as complete.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a teacher in 2009 and took up a post in a 11-18 state comprehensive. Here I taught Science at Key Stage 3 and specialised in Physics at Key Stages 4 and 5. After I moved to the south coast I spent 6 months supplying at various schools in Hampshire. This opened my eyes to the full range of skills a good educator should have. I honestly feel my teaching skills were vastly enriched by teaching in a variety of environments in many different subjects.
From March 2011 I was hired by a prestigious tutoring agency based in Oxford to work for a wealthy client and their two sons in the Middle East. This consisted of after-school tutoring 5 evenings a week in a variety of subjects.
Now back in the UK I teach in an Engineering Academy run to train Network Rail Apprentices. I tutor in the evenings from 11+ entrance exam students to those sitting their A2 exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I truly believe that every child is born a genius, with the ability to grasp everything that is put in front of them. From that point on, society, parents, and peers all put barriers in our minds. It is my goal to see that these barriers are destroyed. Learning is done by the student rather than teaching done by the teacher. A teacher can teach a dog to whistle, it doesn't meant the dog will learn.

A tutor is merely a resource. Just like a book, or an expensive laptop. Achieving the optimal results requires a holistic approach to education. I tend to work heavily with educational psychology theory and pinpoint the exact pieces of the puzzle far beneath the surface that allow the bigger picture to be seen. I teach my tutees to look at examinations in a way they may have never seen them before, allowing them to reduce the anxiety and be truly confident in themselves.

The content of subject matter often comes second to learning technique. How people learn differs between individuals. There can never be one set way to solve a problem so I offer various routes and pin point techniques that can be beneficial.

Personal Description:
My first teaching job was in Kenya when I was 19, and since then I have taught English in Mexico, Brazil, Japan and England. My students have ranged from 4 to 94, and from beginners to doctors and academic researchers, focusing on conversation, business, or exams, depending on the student's needs.

I have a passion for language, whether listening to strangers on the bus or exploring grammatical structures, and my students pick up my enthusiasm and enjoyment.

I have written a book on psychology, linguistics and science, edited children's books and academic texts, and worked as a translator of both Portuguese and Japanese.

My BSc is in Life Sciences with the History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine, and I am interested in nearly everything, except football and cars.

Teaching Experience:

2010-present: ESL teacher, language coach for academics, and private tutor to Japanese kids.

2006-2010: Private English tutor (in MG, Brazil).

2001-2005: High School teacher and private tutor (in Kyoto, Japan)
1999-2001: Elementary and Junior High School English teacher, also special needs class (in Fukushima, Japan).

1997: Teacher for tortillas and lodging in the jungle (in Chiapas, Mexico)

1995: Volunteer school teacher of English, Science & Maths (in rural Kenya)

Tutoring Approach:

I use only English in my lessons, encouraging my students to speak as much as possible, and to correct their own or each other's errors wherever possible.

My emphasis is on fluency, natural language and confidence, so when teaching grammar or considering problems, the student can refer to concrete examples in their heads, rather than abstract formulae in textbooks.

I use a broad range of materials, techniques, and situations, setting high standards and pushing my students to work hard towards accuracy and creativity in English.

Though I am happy teaching one-to-one, I find that a group of two to four students can be more dynamic, more relaxed, and a better environment for free expression and mutual correction. If you agree, I might invite you to join a class of students at a similar level, which makes the lesson much more economical for you.

Personal Description:
I am a undergraduate student at the University of East Anglia studying American and English Literature.

I am studious and hard working as displayed through my grades so far and currently, I am working between a 2:1 and 1st level in my degree. Academics aside, I work well with others and I have a close group of friends. I used to be an explorer scout leader which is where I gained lots of my teaching experience.

Teaching Experience:

- I have taught online via video call for over a year
- I have a level 2 qualification in counselling concepts
- I tutored GCSE English at Skipton Girls' Grammar School for 2 years
- I was an explorer scout leader for 3 years before starting university
- I have 3 A levels including an A in English Literature.
- I also completed the AQA Baccalaureate extended project by tackling the question- 'By studying American literature is it fair to say the American dream turned in to a nightmare?' I received an A* qualification for this.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to find out which aspects of the subject my tutee is struggling with e.g. - paragraphing, sentence construction etc and then I suggest methods of overcoming the problem e.g. - worksheets, verbal exercises etc. I believe through communication with my tutee I can grasp what it is they are finding difficult and find a solution to help. Often I try different approaches to a question/issue to see which proves more effective.I discuss goals and targets with both the student and parents (if appropriate) in an initial session and hopefully you will see progression after a couple of sessions. I have a friendly and relaxed teaching manner and I aim to engage students by teaching my subjects using a range of visual, audio and kinaesthetic approaches alongside more traditional teaching methods.

Personal Description:
My name is Lauren, I am 18 years old, and I am currently a student at Coventry University studying Spanish BA Single Honours, with TEFL (Teaching English as a foreign language). I am originally from Dorset, where I studied Spanish at GCSE and A Level, acquiring an A* at GCSE and a B at A Level. I believe I am a hard working individual with every intention on making sure I achieve what I set out to do. I enjoy helping others, working, and socialising with my friends, and I get on really well with new people.

Teaching Experience:

In the past I have helped out with some younger classes at my secondary school when they needed some assistance in some of the classes. Also, as my sister is 5 years younger than me, I have always been the one helping her with homework, or helping if there is something she does not understand. This means that I have some experience working with people who are in the age group I intend to teach.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a structured hour of work where the pupil is thoroughly engaged throughout the session. I think that there is a lot of importance in learning 'discovery' which is where the pupil is not spoon-fed information, but rather encouraged to try and work out patterns in the language e.g. grammar. Obviously if the pupil gets stuck I will help them. I also think grammar is an important part of learning Spanish language due to all of the verb conjugations and gender agreements etc. Homework is also important as doing a little each day is definitely one of the best ways to learn.

Personal Description:
I am Spanish. I have 25 years old. I have been living in London from more than one year ago. I am a very happy, active, polite, intelligent person. Also, I consider myself a very creative person who think that the process of learn has to be something natural, the person has to enjoy it. I like teach and at the same time learn from my students. I have skills in art, music, martial arts (Im black belt in Taekwondo), Maths... For me the most important thing is the discipline and motivation to learn.
Right now, I am learning English and Japanese. I like a lot classic music, my favourite composer is Bach. I like to play piano as well, learn about oriental customs, specially from Japan.
I am working teaching taekwondo to children and also in a coffee shop.

Teaching Experience:

I have a official degree of "Teacher of Music" in Primary school ( 6- 12 years old). I am waiting the Qualified teacher status (QTS). I have experience teaching children in all range of ages. All the teachers that I had consider myself a creative person. I use alternatives ways to teach using real examples, giving the motivation to learn all kinds of subjects. I have experience specially in art, maths and Spanish language.

Also, I can teach adults conversational Spanish. (I can teach grammar, but I consider that I can give to you material and you can do it at home, so we spend the time in the most important thing, conversation) In this way the student improve and learn spanish in a natural way. I can have all kind of conversation, like economy, sport, videogames, anime, manga, computers, animals, music, films, customs ... you can have a great time and at the same time you are learning spanish!!

Tutoring Approach:

For childrens I would like to focus the process in the motivation to learn, using real examples, draws and different materials that made it keep in a easy natural way in the mind.

I think that the teachers has to adapt everything depending of the children or adult. We have to take in count the hobbies and the personality of the persons and then, we have to choose the best way to guide them to have the most efficient way to learn.

I would like to focus teaching Spanish language but I am open to teach another kind of subject.

If you have any question, please feel free to contact me.

Personal Description:
I am a final year Engineering student at Coventry University. I study modules related to Computers, Electronics and Business. Before coming to Coventry I attended Manipal University, India. I have been in Coventry for over 3 years now and live close to the King Henry VIII school.
Apart from that I come from a family of academics, with me being the 4th generation interested in teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have teaching people around me all the time. Started at home with helping out my younger sister with her maths and science. A couple of more kids living in the neighborhood would often drop by to get some or the other doubt cleared.
This tendency carried forward while I was attending Manipal University; Engineering students as such are quite a lot into group study at times. This is where I started helping out more people and realized I had a flair for teaching.
I worked with Dragonfly Education, India, It is an e-learning firm who are into development of e-study material for the Engineering spectrum. I worked on the product development team where I created a teaching methodology and the structured the course curriculum accordingly.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is quite structured. There needs to be a smooth pattern in order to learn. A structured curriculum with a patient and guided approach is the key to learning. A constant appraisal of the student keeps track of the progress of the student. Apart from that A proper feedback and corrective measures also go a long way in ensuring the progress of the student.

Personal Description:
Hi all (and apologies for awful hair in profile picture). I am currently a Oxford University reading mathematics (after studying at Dr Challoners, meaning that I am only available for tutoring outside of term times (although keep in mind Oxford vacations are very long! Feel free to contact me through the site and I can give you more specific information for when I am available). After trying to teach my family bits of maths for a while they have eventually tired of it so hopefully I might have more joy sharing my enthusiasm with a willing student!

Teaching Experience:

Aside from helping my younger sibling and kids I babysit with their homework, I also volunteered in a school run scheme where older students tutor struggling KS3 students once a week, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also have some experience tutoring other students through this site.

Tutoring Approach:

When studying maths, I have often found that a sound understanding of the basic underlying principles to be key, so this is what I would hope to instill in a any students. I would also focus on developing passion and enthusiasm for the subject as this is also incredibly useful, as it encourages students to spend more time to engage with material, in a more rigorous fashion.

Personal Description:
I am currently in the final year of an Astrophysics PhD at UCL, which I began in 2010. Prior to this I obtained a first class MSci in Physics with Astrophysics at the University of Bristol. I hope to continue in an academic career when I complete my PhD, since I enjoy both teaching and research.

Teaching Experience:

I have two years of experience tutoring students ranging from year 9 up to university level. In addition, I have spent four semesters demonstrating in undergraduate Physics labs at UCL for one afternoon per week. I also have experience marking undergraduate problem sheets and exam papers, which helps me to advise students as to how they should approach their own exam preparation.

Tutoring Approach:

The ultimate goal of my previous students has been to achieve a certain exam grade or to pass an entrance exam. I think the key to preparing for exams in mathematical subjects is practice and so I aim to give students the confidence to answer questions on thier own. My approach to tutoring has therefore been to cover subject matter that the student is perhaps less confident with, before tackling exam-style questions in order to apply what they have learnt.

Personal Description:
I am a reliable and enthusiastic person, passionate about teaching and working with young people, although I would be happy to work with adults as well.
I am open minded, motivated and have a wide range of interests. I like travelling and discovering new countries as well as different cultures and traditions.
I love auteur cinema and always try to pass on my passion to the students in order to help them broaden their horizons.
I am fond of contemporary and modern art, which I can really appreciate in London thanks to the great cultural resources available.
I obtained a Bachelor and a Master of Art in History from University of Padua (Italy) respectively in September 2008 and in March 2012 and I have attended several courses related to Italian ancient, modern and contemporary Art, Literature and History. In 2008-2009 I spent ten months of my studies in Granada (Spain), during which time I perfected my Spanish and the knowledge of Spanish and Latin American culture and history.
After completing my Master's degree, I moved to Ireland where I worked as a students' tutor. I am currently employed in Barnet (London) as a Learning Support Assistant.

Teaching Experience:

Learning Support Assistant, 2013
Students' tutor, 2012-2013
Special needs student tutor, 2007-2008

I am currently working as a Learning Support Assistant in Barnet (London) where I support students with learning difficulties like dyspraxia, dyslexia, ADHD, speech and language problems (KS 3/4/5).

After completing my Master's in 2012, I worked as a student tutor in West Cork (Ireland) where I provided educational support to teenage students (KS 3/4/5, GSCE). I helped them in different subjects and in the preparation of their final exams providing individual as well as collective based educational support. During school hours I have also taught Spanish grammar and conversation.

I used to work as a special needs student tutor at the University of Padua (Italy) where I assisted University students with learning disabilities through the courses helping them taking notes and staying focused on the content of the class for example, as well as giving them extra educational support. I also helped them organizing their studying time and University courses schedules.

During my student exchange in Granada in 2008-2009, I acted as an English and Italian tutor for two Spanish children.

Tutoring Approach:

The areas of my competence are Special Educational Needs, Italian and Spanish languages.
My tutoring approach is communicative and effective, focused on reinforcing the students' learning abilities and self confidence.

When I teach languages I work with the 4 core skills: Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing, in order to achieve a high standard preparation. I teach grammar, communications skills, literature, history and culture using a multimedia based approach to give the pupils a full and rounded experience of the foreign language.

I believe that every student has unique potential and abilities; I have always worked hard to discover and improve them using different approaches and teaching methods suitable for each pupil's needs and interests. I prepare well-paced lessons to identify and strengthen the student“s weak areas quickly and provide them with straightforward solutions.

The relationship I develop with my students and their parents is essential; I build strong
connections with each student using fun and enjoyable methods as the basis for all my tutorials. I am confident that I can use my advanced teaching and motivational skills to benefit my future students.

Personal Description:
I'm a 23 year old Dentistry graduate of the University of Manchester. During my 5 years in Manchester I have built a strong understanding and knowledge base for the sciences and would enjoy helping young students gain the same understanding. The sciences are an exciting subject but in my experience many young students feel under pressure to memorise the information instead of fully understanding the topics. I would describe myself as enthusiastic, friendly and likeable.

I am currently pursuing a career in elite sport hence why I do not practice Dentistry on a full time basis.

Teaching Experience:

I have spent the last 5 years working with a range of young adults and children whilst training to be a dentist. Whilst completing treatment was important it was essential to educate my patients and make changes to their daily routines.

During the last 2 years of my degree I was involved in helping younger students complete a variety of different clinical scenarios. I also spent over 5 years teaching and guiding young adults whilst involved with the air cadets.

Tutoring Approach:

Ideally I'd like to meet prior to our first tutoring session (either in person or online) for 10mins so that we can decide on key topics and also for me to put together a learning plan. I aim to work through each topic and break it down into small relatable chunks of information that can be applied to different situations. We'll measure this by utilising past papers and other past questions.

My aim is to help students understand and work out the answers and not to just memorise them!
