Personal Description:
I am enthusiastic, approachable, bubbly professional who lives for teaching. Well articulated and presentable. Teaching is my profession which I really do enjoy doing. I was born in Wales, taught in Swansea and Birmingham. I have also tutored through local authorities and schools. I am well specialized in Mathematics and very much enjoy the subject.

Teaching Experience:

I specialize in Secondary Mathematics 11-18 years, with teacher training from the Birmingham University. I have also tutored via Fleet tutors and the local authority, including family and friends. I have experienced teaching Maths in several comprehensive.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to be direct and highly organised and I put forth the tutees to pick up these skills early on as it makes teaching and learning a lot less difficult. I explain the whys in mathematics rather than work on solving solutions as I believe grasping an intuitive concept will lead to the material staying longer in the memory and utilised in future practical use. My approach to teaching is simply to teach in a way that pupils never forget.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, approachable final year student, studying Medicine at Imperial College London University. I am now completing my degree in Medicine, having spent a year on my intercalated BSc in Reproduction and Development, achieving First Class Honours. I achieved 7A* and 3A grades at GCSE, A grades in Maths, Biology and Chemistry at A level and a B in AS Level English Literature. I take great pride in my academic achievements and I enjoy encouraging people to achieve their full potential.

I am experienced in tutoring Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level Maths and Sciences, and I can also help prospective medical students prepare for UKCAT or BMAT examinations, interview technique, or personal statement applications.

I aim to help students tackle areas of weakness, improve their exam technique and confidence, and reach the best of their ability.

Teaching Experience:

This year I tutored a GCSE student and AS level student and we are waiting for their results. Last year I tutored 2 GCSE students, in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. We worked through topics as they studied them in school, building and improving this knowledge, or focusing on particular areas of concern. They achieved 2A*s and 2As, and 3As and a B respectively.

I previously taught a Year 8 student, teaching her half of the Year 8 maths curriculum which she had missed due to moving from abroad. This was challenging as I was teaching her subjects from scratch rather than building on original knowledge, but it greatly improved my teaching technique.

I have also tutored A Level students preparing for applying to Medical School, in particular with interview skills, UKCAT/BMAT technique, and personal statement preparation.

Review from prospective medical student's mother:
Tanya came out of the room a different person. Gone were the fears surrounding the UKCAT. I am really grateful. Definitely, Tanya will come to you for help with the interviews. From the beginning, you have been encouraging her and that is the trait of a brilliant tutor.

Review from GCSE student, Jade:
"Hannah is the best tutor I've had, she is very attentive, friendly and efficient. If it takes a long time for me to get my head around the topic, Hannah is never intolerant and she is always very patient and will help me understand the topic the best way possible. However, it rarely takes long for me to understand topics because we go through them comprehensively as well as surprisingly quickly. Sometimes she sets a few questions for homework after the lesson to make sure the student completely understands what was covered, which she will mark and go through the answers with me in the next lesson. I find this very useful as she helps me understand where I have gone wrong and I can learn from my mistakes. Hannah is also very good at explaining topics outside of the syllabus to help me understand it better, without overcomplicating things."

Tutoring Approach:

Initially, I will discuss the student's expectations of what they wish to achieve, and the areas which cause them concern. From this we will decide a personal plan of how much work is needed, and a timescale. Using the student's syllabus, we can highlight areas of particular weakness to focus on and improve the student's confidence and ability.

Additionally I will set the student work outside of tutoring sessions which can either be posted or emailed to me prior to the next session. This will highlight problem areas with the next topic we aim to cover, or consolidate what has been learnt in previous sessions. I believe that using past exam questions is very important, as they provide fantastic practice, helping students develop strategies and familiarising themselves with timing and the style of exam questions., which is key to success.

I am patient and confident, and can easily adapt my teaching techniques to suit individual students. I look forward to offering my support.

Personal Description:
I am a Geography graduate from Durham University and after a successful 25 year career as a Chartered Accountant I decided to become a maths tutor. Although my work in corporate finance was very challenging and rewarding, it was ultimately unfulfilling and I now concentrate exclusively on people focused work. I am a keen sportsman and my hobbies include astronomy, photography and mountaineering.

Teaching Experience:

As a former Finance Director, Pension Trustee and one-time head of HR, I have trained people many times, both individually and in groups. This covered many subjects, including accountancy, advanced Excel, IT systems and management skills. I have also helped my sons to achieve A stars in maths GCSE. Recently, I have enjoyed working for a term in a local primary school, one or two days a week, helping to teach 10 and 11 year olds maths and English. I have a detailed knowledge of the National Curriculum and the EdExcel GCSE syllabus. I also have a full suite of GCSE textbooks, for both Foundation and Higher levels, including student books as well as revision guides and associated workbooks. I have an enhanced CRB disclosure.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a friendly and patient approach to tuition and adapt my methods to the student's needs. In particular, I am very
conscious of different learning preferences (auditory/visual/kinaesthetic) and I will modify techniques to fit the student's confidence and personality. I have a good sense of humour and am particularly good with shy or nervous children as I always take the necessary time to establish trust and confidence.

Personal Description:
Born in Yorkshire I was educated in New Zealand up to school certificate. After A levels I attended Durham University before heading to Sandhurst.
12 years of teaching experience is backed by a wealth of real-world experience in the army, arts and educational administration and in business. I have an interest in the outdoors, public speaking, sport (I am an active cricketer and a rugby referee) , the arts, history, science and religion.

Teaching Experience:

Sherborne Prep School (2002-2009 and 2011-14): Originally engaged as a science and class teacher for KS2 and 3, I became Director of Studies in 2006. In 2011 I returned as head of history before becoming head of computing in 2012. In both these roles I was responsible for writing and introducing a new curriculum.
Sherborne Qatar (2009-10): founding Director of Studies responsible for admissions, curriculum and assessment and teacher of a Year 5 class.
On returning to the UK I worked at Knighton House School (2010-11): where I taught science, maths and history. From 2014, I have done some supply teaching in the Tyneside area while working on curriculum projects and freelance writing

Tutoring Approach:

With experience in preparing pupils for exams such as 11+, Common Entrance and scholarships I am academically demanding but believe that learning should be enjoyable and try to include elements which allow children of all learning styles and abilities to make the most of their abilities. As a result I include practical elements and visual materials in most lessons. Context is important in learning, so concepts are taught through media and approaches which are engaging (and often amusing) to the child. In short, children regard learning as fun and worthwhile rather than as something to be endured. The first step is an assessment of needs which is followed by focussed learning to develop areas of weakness and to build confidence, knowledge and analytical skills.

In addition, I really enjoy talking with people. Thereof I'll be there for anyone who wants to get closer to the seemingly-difficult Mandarin, and those who'd like to know more about Chinese culture and cuisine.

Personal Description:
I'm Anna, an italian girl from Rome. I would consider myself open-minded and easy going, I love traveling, I like to discover new places and meet new people.
I have a master degree in Philosophy, gained with an international program between Italy and Germany. Philosophy was my first love, I simply enjoy questions whose answer is an other question, but to match my interest those have to have a practical, real character. Therefore I've discovered my love for the languages and the skill to communicate between people.

Teaching Experience:

About teaching Italian: I've been a teacher until February by the Intercultural Popular School of the ARCI (the most important italian cultural association) of Rome, turned to foreign citizens, mainly immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees, to which it offers an Italian language teaching, on the levels of literacy, A1, A2 and B1. I've also done the DITALS II exam at the end of February.

About teaching German: My german knowledge corresponds to the C1 european level (I've got the Test Daf certification), that's the highest level before to be a mother tongue. At the moment I give private lessons of german for 3 years, since I came back from Germany. Even if I'm not a mother tongue I have a really strong teaching experience and, most important, I know how complicated could be learning german and I've already experienced all the tricks to manage this language and without feeling overwhelmed.

About teaching Philosophy/critical thinking: I have a Bachelor and Master Degree in Philosophy, I'm basically a philosopher. I love philosophical subjects and generally to practice a critical way to think. Since I went to the University, 7 years ago, I've started to give philosophy private lessons and I never stopped.

Tutoring Approach:

About languages: I think that the language is the best medium to act, therefore my teaching approach is strictly focused on the skill to act. I use a communicative way to teaching, which begins with the student and his language needs and problems, and it looks at the solution of these, quickly and with fun.

About Philosophy/Critical thinking: I know that sometimes philosophers and, generally, thinkers could seem unrealistic, simply out of the world and therefore not understandable. Anyway I like this subject so much that I'm able to let look at it with a new point of view, which let discover an other whole world, incredibly interesting.
