I am a Ba (Hons) Archaeology graduate from the University of Birmingham. I live in my own house and have a friendly but professional manner. I play the piano and I am a dance teacher.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working at the University of Birmingham as an educational support assistant with disabled students. I am about to start working in a high school as a cover supervisor with the career ambition to do my teacher trainign in high school history.

I have taught dancing for 10 years at a private dance school and also within primary and high schools. I invigilate high school exams and have personal tutored several students through GCSE to obtain A grades.

I am used to working with young children up to teenagers and can adapt my teaching style accordingly. I have worked with many autism spectrum students including aspbergers and downs syndrome.

I have crohn's disease which has also helped me identify with disabled students.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to assess the students learning style and adapt that to my teaching (such as visual). I prefer to tutor in my home to create a relaxed friendly environment. I set realistic goals but like to push every student to achive their best potential.

I feel being young helps students feel more relaxed with me yet I always maintain a professional relationship.

I will cater my lessons to what is required but firmly believe in-

FEEDBACK!

I do believe homework is essential between sessions to practice what we have covered during our time together. I do like to incorporate games where appropriate and work with the student to discuss how they feel they can learn best and get the most from our sessions.

Personal Description:
I'm an ex-IT Lecturer & currently a part-time professional IT Tutor, who is now also trying to make it in the world of acting. I have nearly 3 years acting experience in commercials, TV, short films, corporate work, and theatre. I'm also a boulderer (climbing, but without a harness / rope), and I work out 4/5 times a week in my local Recreation park. I'm an easy going guy, who has lots of bits of knowledge, and is looking to pass on my IT skills to someone who needs them.

I left FE for many reasons, but the main one was to pursue my acting career....

Teaching Experience:

12 straight years of teaching in FE colleges to students aged 16 upwards, on BTEC National Diploma & First Diploma courses (both IT), and have demonstrated / delivered a wide range of subjects including : Basic HTML, creating graphics using Word/Paint, POV-Ray, MS-Office 2007 & MS-Office 2010 (Word, Excel, Access, and Power-Point), and how to use video editing software such as Videopad Video Editor, Microsoft Movie Maker, and I can show you how to use YouTube to post videos and create your own channel.

I have 18 months contract experience (since March 2012) as a professional IT Trainer with a training agency, training professionals to use MS-Access, plus other Office 2010 suite applications, and Internet & IT Security.

I have also several years experience teaching private clients (using this site among others) how to use Word, Excel, Access, Power-Point, POV Ray, Paint, Windows 7, Windows 8, File management, and IT Security / Email, Internet skills from total beginners to experienced IT users / advanced, from 18 years to my eldest student who was 78 years young. The elderly are a joy to teach, as it gives them newly-found confidence.

I use my Windows 8 laptop, with Microsoft Office 2010 Professional installed, as well as having other applications that I use to train learners in the above areas.

I can also teach theoretical / academic subjects, such as BTEC courses / subjects, but I cannot give any promise that you will get the grades you desire, as those results are outside of my control.

Tutoring Approach:

Like learning to drive : I teach the basics, then expect you to get behind the wheel whilst I guide you. You will make mistakes, and discover new methods or skills, but you are doing the work. I don't expect students to be 'spoon fed' or to say "just tell me what to do", as that makes them lazy & ignore the concepts of actual learning. The brain is a muscle, and problem-solving skills are needed for a life in the real world. I also practice what I teach, so I will do what I've asked you to do - after you have tried it. I'm also not one for homework, as I believe that just practical 'playing around' will help them learn better.

Sometimes, IT / Computing can be thought of as being boring, nerdy, and too technical - Forget about all of those words : I use humor, and filter through all the rubbish that you don't need to know! I am CRB cleared/checked, and have lots of happy learners to confirm my abilities & skills.

Testimonies :

"Nick is a great teacher, who makes what can be a boring tech subject seem fun. He injects humor allowing one not to forget certain things taught." - Christina

"Good tutor, sociable & approachable. Nick...Mr Entertainer!" - G Aslong

"I have really enjoyed your lessons. You are a brilliant teacher, funny and engaging. It was a joy to be taught by you!." - Mr Toit

"Thank you Nick for the sessions we had with you in my Restaurant. Both Hugo and I have learned so much about using the Internet and email thanks to your patient guidance." - George.

"Excellent, really helpful, 5/5" - Bokum.

"We hired Nick to work with our 55 year old mother, who brought a laptop and never used it for 2 years due to fear. Since my mum began working with Nick her confidence in her ability to use the laptop and browse the Net etc has increased… dramatically! My mum has commented to me that Nick is an "excellent teacher". On the basis of the above I would recommend Nick." - Samantha.

"Nick has an aptitude for understanding students that makes him stand out from the thousands of freelance graphic, web designers and lecturers out there. He pays close attention to what you say during consultation sessions and tries to capture the essence of your requests. It was an absolute privilege to have been taught by this man. I am where I am today because of him." - Diari Mustafa.

Personal Description:
My name is Adeel, a recent Graduate from Guildford School of Acting where I undertook a MA in Acting
Prior to this I have studied Drama at BA (hons) level and before that I studied performing arts at college.
In short I had confidence issues for which reason I joined a local theater group from which my interest grew in the studies in the subject.

My passion is to teach individuals who would like to either pursue a career in the industry, or for parents who are concerned about their child's confidence issues, so I do cover a great range.

My way of teaching is both practical and theory, depending on the need of each individual. I like to keep record on one's progress and regularly like to review the progress making sure all aspects of teaching and learning meets standards for both me and the student.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst my time at university I worked along side a scheme which provided me with first hand experience in teaching KS3 & KS4. I successfully completed this course.

My MA in Acting equipped me with detailed teaching knowledge aimed for individuals interested in Drama/Acting.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a family history of teaching, with my mother and brother both secondary teachers.

My time at Drama School has provided me with extensive knowledge in acting techniques and individual development plans.

I have a resource of books which are available to students who are interested.

I am still very much in the business of the Arts, so I believe I can implement my knowledge and experience of the field upon my students.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate of Classics at King's College London, holding a good 2.i grade. I am hoping to go on to a Masters' level degree in the next couple of years. My specific interests within my discipline include the Homeric epics, as well as later Latin epic and lyric poetry.
I am also a Diploma-standard French Horn player, with over 13 years of performance experience in various types of ensembles. Friendly, enthusiastic and polite, I love being able to pass on my own knowledge and passion for learning to others!

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience so far has been on a relatively informal basis; I have had one longer-term pupil, whom I helped with beginner's Latin to catch up in a new school, and then later to Ancient Greek as a more casual side interest. I have also introduced several friends to both music theory and Latin grammar in loosely arranged lessons. My orchestral performance experience has provided many similar opportunities as I have often been in a position of responsibility - friendly and informal tutoring and coaching is frequently required of a principal player when other orchestra members are less experienced.

Tutoring Approach:

I maintain that the underlying responsibility of any educator is to give their pupil the skills necessary to assist in their own education. Learning is not something that a student passively has done to them; in order to benefit, and to truly learn, they must participate and engage. This approach of enabling the student includes such vital aspects as kindling and encouraging a real enthusiasm for the subject, which is so important for self-motivation later on in the learning process, and making sure that there is always something for the student to do and accomplish, so that they can see their own progress for themselves.
I place my emphasis so greatly on enabling students because, as a current university student, I have experienced the benefits of this approach myself fairly recently. Learning the 'nuts and bolts' of Ancient Greek grammar, for example, means that I can now apply the same method to a modern language for myself with complete confidence, and learn it much more quickly, and more comprehensively, than I ever could have before. This confidence in a student to apply knowledge to a new situation is, in my opinion, the final aim of any tutor - but in order to achieve it, the student must understand not only the subject, but the learning process itself.

Personal Description:
I lived and worked in France from 1982 to 1985. I have always spent the summer holidays from the age of 12 living with a French family and feel equally at home in France or England. From school age I knew I wanted to travel and find new places learning the language as I went. I love to communicate and enjoy meeting people and getting to know them and want to pass on the enthusiasm I feel for all things French. I enjoy reading, music, films and French food isn't bad either.

Teaching Experience:

My initial teaching experience was with 'Le Club Francais' where I was in charge of a weekly after school club of 5 - 11 year olds. This was great fun as learning was channelled through games.
My friend's son had extra lessons after school to pass his oral French which he did with flying colours and commendation from his teacher.
A teacher from a nearby school wanted to move to France, so asked for help with pronunciation and grammar.
I have also translated a marketing leaflet for a company in Bradford and am the voice at the end of a help line for French speaking residents who wish to move house.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that enjoyment is the motivation for learning. To make sure that a lesson is visually, orally and kinaesthetically appealing to students will ensure maximum attention span and maximise learning and long term memory retention. I have quite an approachable personality and am a good listener, which is important in establishing boundaries (for both learner and teacher) and to iron out any potential problems or misunderstandings that could arise. I have a very flexible approach to tutoring because every student has a unique way of learning and therefore am always open to suggestion to improve my knowledge.

Personal Description:
I am a Spanish Art historian. I am especially experienced in working with children and I can help people who need to have an especific knowledge about Spanish Art or History. So, future Erasmus students are welcome to my classes. I can teach at my place or move to yours.

Teaching Experience:

Currently I am working as a Spanish assistant in a High School, giving classes to teenagers from 14 to 17 years old.

So far, my entire career has been focused on historical and artistic education, especially on working in museums or temporary exhibitions in activities for children and adolescents. Language was always the main source I used to awake in my children the love for our History and our Art, inviting them to enjoy the magic of tales or encouraging them to be creative and to express their feelings through oral communication.

I have an accurate knowledge of my language: its grammar and its literature. I love our great classics and I am an enthusiastic reader of the latest Spanish-language novels. Furthermore, I am a good "low-voice" reader and my vocalization and my intonation are very good.

On the other hand, my studies allow me to speak about any subject related with Spanish history or the art of my country, which would be great way to enhance the students´ knowledge about my culture.

Tutoring Approach:

At this moment, I am giving private lessons to different kind of people with different ages, interests and levels.
I always offer a very specialist program to every student and I usually make a program depending on their needs.

Personal Description:
Hello! I am an intelligent, well-educated young woman studying English Literature at the university of Sussex. I have completed my first year - so far having acheived a 2:1 - and did exceptionally well at A level and GCSEs. I attended one of the highest acheiving schools in the country, King Edward VI Grammar School for Girls, and genuinely enjoy education, both learning and teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored my younger brother for years in all school subjects, and also his classmates. Until now I have been too young to work for a tutoring organisation - I am 19, but assure you that I have all the skills necessary to help your child acheive their goals. I have also been self employed as a babysitter, with experience with children from new-born to 15, and so have plenty of knowledge of how children are best communicated with and urged to do their best. I was a mentor in my secondary school for pupils of GCSE age in English and French, which meant I spent two hours a week with the girls struggling - my tuition led them to acheive A and A* grades respectively.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very relaxed, laid-back person, so my natural tutoring style reflects this. I see no help in pushing a child too hard or fast, which will only make them more resistant to the subject they are already struggling with. Particularly for primary age children, I would try to make the session fun, including games alongside traditional teaching. I am happy, though, to be lead by you in my approach to your child, as you clearly know them best. In all my tutoring experience so far, however, I have seen wonderful results.

Teaching Experience:

Tutoring Approach:

I have a calm and patient approach to tutoring. My aim is to put my students at ease and build confidence in their abilities by planning sessions based around each child's individual needs. Personal Description:
My name is Laura, I am a 31 year old resting professional actress. I have two young daughters who will be attending school full-time in September 2013 and so I am eager to once more put my talents to good use.

I am a published poet, I write plays and screen plays also and am currently one of the Student ambassadors for the Royal Opera House as in my spare time I also study for a degree in English Literature and Language; my other passion apart from acting.

I also enjoy baking and regularly make decorative cakes and homemade treats.

Teaching Experience:

I have coached many people using drama to build confidence, to audition for drama school or even for help with public speaking, including the difficult task of speaking at funerals.

My experience includes extensive workshops and drama sessions with children from the ages of 4-18 on issues such as arson, road safety and bullying, with the support of the relevant county's emergency services. I have worked freelance as an improvisation, voice/speech and script tutor at the much acclaimed drama school, The Actor Works, in Wapping, home to the annual OffCut festival.

Apart from my drama and theatre tutelage, I have helped many young people, including many 16-18 year olds with coursework, exam preparation, text and poetry analysis and building confidence in their ability to use the English language.

Tutoring Approach:

I am easy to get on with, however you will get homework and I expect as much determination and commitment to me and our sessions as I will give to you. We will write a plan together in the first session and regularly review it to make sure we are on track.

Whatever the goal, be it confidence building, exam preparation, full on performance, or just for fun, I will help you achieve it.
