Personal Description:
I am a current first year student at the University of Bath, studying for a Masters in Aerospace Engineering. I have achieved great academic results at A-Level from Wallingford Sixth Form.

I`m available from 14th of December to the 4th January, so if you need to go over more challenging areas of the course, I`m happy to help.

Teaching Experience:

I have limited experience in tutoring but i have helped course mates frequently when they do not understand the curriculum or haven`t understood the method that the lecturer uses. I tend to find that changing the technique of teaching a subject allows you to understand it better.

I also helped friends and family who are studying A-levels in maths, further maths and physics.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm very patient with tutees and take the time to make sure they learn the topic subject thoroughly. As I said before, I tend to vary my methods of teaching if the tutee doesn't understand how i'm teaching it. I also think it is a better learning environment if the session has a specific plan in mind but is informal enough to allow the tutee to query anything that they don't fully understand.

Personal Description:
I'm a freelance translator with an MA in Literary Translation from Exeter University. I originally graduated in Spanish and German from Kent University in 2002, after which I travelled around Europe and worked for some time in London as a PA at the Chartered Institute of Linguists. I love anything to do with languages and would like to continue to my involvement in education.

Teaching Experience:

After graduating, I spent a year teaching English in Spain and London (all levels to both children and adults), and for three years I worked as a Saturday morning Spanish teacher for children aged 5-11. I've also done some voluntary work in primary schools working with children with difficulties in Literacy, and am currently doing some private tuition in GCSE Spanish and GCSE German. In the past, I have also tutored GSCE English Literature and beginners' Spanish for adults.

Tutoring Approach:

After the tutee lets me know what areas he/she would prefer to work on, I can prepare some relevant material and build on that: I have plenty of books, CDs, sheets and Internet material! I am keen to let the tutee work at his/her own pace and not feel overloaded with information, although it is also important to feel challenged. Particularly for children's lessons, I would be using games and pictures. I aim for the lessons to be relaxed and enjoyable and would hope that the tutee feels comfortable and encouraged, and not awkward about making mistakes.

Personal Description:
I am a 27 year-old prize-winning Masters graduate in Mathematics from Oxford University, and I also hold Top Candidate Notifications from AQA for my performances in A-level maths and further maths, and another such notification from AQA for my performance in GCSE Statistics. I am in my fifth year of tutoring full-time.

I offer tuition in mathematics at each of the following levels: KS3/GCSE/AS/A2/AEA/Oxford Entrance Exam/Oxbridge Interview Practice/STEP. I have a recent CRB Enhanced Disclosure.

Teaching Experience:

I have four full years experience as a full-time private tutor. My role addresses the pitfalls of a mainstream education by truly individualising it, and is perfected through thousands of hours of experience of striving to achieve precisely that. My thirst for knowledge has allowed me to develop a true understanding of mathematical concepts: I have frequently played the role of the consultant throughout my mathematical career, have been able to help my peers and students avoid the pitfalls usually associated with difficult ideas and am able to explain things from numerous angles.

Tutoring Approach:

Traversing the mathematical landscape is an art; it can be a very uncomfortable environment for some. I find it so important to make my students feel at ease and to find confidence in their maths and so important to be friendly and patient. I am not a suited, booted assessor, nor old-school, to be frank! The feedback I've received indicates that I am very successful in creating a supportive atmosphere that encourages discussion, openness and good effort.

As well as engaging with students in this manner, my aim as a maths tutor is to get my students to 'think mathematically'; to uncover the inherent simplicity in methods and concepts and to truly understand what is being worked with. It is my business to focus thought, prevent confusion and stimulate the development of good ideas. I employ illuminating explanations and navigate sticking points, and as a result maths should be considerably easier to handle under my guidance.

As well as offering support for those with difficulties or specific grade aspirations at standard levels, I can also challenge the very able as intensely as they could hope for, introducing them to the mindset, rigour and practise required for the more challenging AEA and STEP papers. At university I was lucky enough to find myself one to whom others turned with maths troubles: I have been depended on to explain advanced maths effectively for years. I am sure this accounts for two more areas of particularly positive feedback I've received as a tutor: in explaining concepts and in effectively dealing with problems as they arise.

I provide tuition either at my home in central Cheltenham, or at the homes of students within a 30-mile radius of it (dependent on particular location).

I am here to provide a complete teaching experience that in addition to ironing out difficulties and providing excellent exam preparation as matter of course, at no extra effort on the part of the student introduces them to the thought processes and insights of the professional mathematician. I have the STRONGEST sense of duty of care to my students and want every one who I work with to exceed their own expectations and the expectations of others and to walk away feeling truly proud of their achievements.

Personal Description:
Not everyone can reach their potential in a class of perhaps thirty students, especially if peer pressure, noise and poor behaviour work against their best efforts; even at university nowadays, seminar groups are often crazily over-large. I began teaching as a genuine vocation, after many successful years as a marketing manager in the pharmaceutical industry. It is this background that makes me different; it has given me an approach to teaching that has changed the outlook and results of many young students similar to your own son and daughter, inspiring them with renewed confidence and enthusiasm. The large number of genuine four and five star references on this site and elsewhere are evidence of this. As well as teach, I also write for several publishers including the BBC; also I have been the "BBC Bitesize English teacher" for some years, responding to educational queries sent in to their website.

I have taught English Language and Literature (as well as Media and Film Studies) to KS3, GCSE, A-level and under-graduate level for several years; I also tutor primary (KS2) students, helping them with their KS2 and entrance exam preparation. My speciality, apart from a natural love of English Literature. is linguistics and I suppose, through my teaching materials, I have become quite well known even nationally for my work in this area.

I taught for many years at the county's leading comprehensive school, The Beauchamp College in Oadby, where year-on-year my classes achieved amongst the highest results in the school, and therefore amongst the highest in the county of Leicestershire.

As well as a teacher of English, thanks to my business background, qualifications and interests, over the years I have been able to help many students studying Sociology, Business Studies and History, right through to undergraduate level.

As a naturally shy individual despite a confident-seeming exterior, I am especially keen on building confidence in my students, and I try hard to improve public speaking skills as these are so important not just for interviews and the like, but for a general feeling of well-being and inner-confidence. Schools seem unable to help quiet or shy students and this is an area in which I think I can say I excel.

I am nationally known and respected for my teaching materials and run a very popular English GCSE and A-level revision website. My teaching materials and guides are used throughout the country and even overseas. As the BBC's "Bitesize" English teacher, I have even been on the Greg James's Radio 1 show, answering students' revision 'Tweets' and discussing with him his favourite book, To Kill a Mockingbird!

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach part-time at a local A-level college but for many years taught at the leading school in the area, the Beauchamp College in Oadby, Leicester; whilst there I regularly achieved among the top pass rates in the school and, therefore, in the whole county. I write educational materials for national publishers including the BBC; I am also the BBC Bitesize English teacher and have appeared on national radio (Radio 1); my teaching materials are used by other teachers across the country. I run a popular my own well-known and very popular English GCSE and A-level revision website.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a no-nonsense and straightforward approach to my teaching - one that provides excellent value for money and exam results. Lessons and homework are supported with the highest quality teaching and learning materials available. My personal approach is to treat youngsters as equals, something they tell me is rare in teaching and which boosts their self-confidence greatly.

Personal Description:
I am a 43 year old living in Poole. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Archaeology and I have worked in education for eleven years as a Science Technician and I am now currently an FE Lecturer at Bournemouth and Poole College. I moved into part-time teaching and tutoring while at Oakmead and after working as a contract lecturer over the years I am now teaching full-time at Bournemouth and Poole College. I have been tutoring for the last seven years and I have been teaching for the last five years

Teaching Experience:

I am at present a BTEC Chemistry Lecturer at Bournemouth and Poole College. I have taught BTEC Forensics at Oakmead, Access to HE Forensics and Regulation of Physiology and BTEC Level 3 Science in Health & Beauty at Bournemouth & Poole College. I have also taught GCSE Human Health & Physiology for 2 years at Oakmead and at Wiltshire College and GCSE History during my placement.
I have experience in tutoring KS2 Maths, KS2 & KS3 Science, GCSE and A Level Biology, GCSE and A Level Chemistry, GCSE and A Level Physics, GCSE Science, GCSE History, AS and A2 History, A2 Archaeology and A Level Politics
I am also an Team Leader examiner and moderator for Edexcel in GCSE History and an examiner in GCSE Chemistry for AQA.

Tutoring Approach:

I always try to gain an initial assessment on where the student is. This will guide me on where the student has to improve. While I prepare well for any tutoring session I believe in stretching and challenging the student and I will always ask questions to reinforce the knowledge. My approach is not just giving the student past papers and worksheets but to talk, engage and discuss any problems through in depth questioning so that are there as this will prevent misconceptions and allow full understanding.

Personal Description:
From an early age I have been extremely enthusiastic about mathematics and since leaving education, and before I chose to pursue a career in education, I have been fascinated by learning and problem solving. I am currently a teacher in a new school in Hackney, East London. The college is for 14-18 year olds so I specialise in GCSE and A-Level maths teaching. We cater for a range of different backgrounds and abilities which requires the staff to have a wide ranging skill-set. I have previously taught for 5 full years, including 2 years at a 4-18 international school, and have 3 years teaching experience in the UK. My previous school was an independent international school. In all my years as a teacher I have taught GCSE classes and have come to have a sound knowledge of both AQA and Edexcel curriculums. I am also aware that GCSEs serve 2 purposes - one to gain a specific skill set and acquire subject knowledge, the other to achieve a prestigious and important qualification. I have worked in business for several years since completing a maths masters degree at Leeds University. As a relatively new teacher I have a fresh perspective on current barriers to learning and misconceptions within my chosen subject.

Teaching Experience:

1 year working in East London, 2 years overseas in the Dominican Republic (students are 95% native Spanish speakers), 3 years in England, 1 year PGCE training incorporating placements at 2 schools in Louth (North East Lincolnshire), trained at Lincoln BGUC. I am currently curriculum leader for maths at my college and have been acting head of department at my previous school.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the key to learning is presenting a new topic in a way that the learner can engage with best. I would aim to break a complex problem down into smaller more manageable parts. Maths is a subject where each new concept is just a collection of previously learnt skills or techniques used in a specific way. I would visit the house of the tutee under the supervision of a parent. Also, if acceptable, I would try to involve a parent in the tuition process so that they can work with the tutee at a later date, if they thought it would help. I am happy to set additional work to be finished between tuition sessions, if the parent and tutee consent to this. I aim to not only help the tutee in acquiring the grade they want but also to improve their confidence in maths and help inspire them to enjoy the subject more.

Personal Description:
I have a first class honours degree in mathematics as well as university prizes as top maths student in both part I and part II finals. I went into software engineering and built up two multimillion pound companies that I sold in 2001. I have three daughters, two of whom now also have firsts in maths., all have A*s at GCSE and A Level maths. Since 2001 I have tutored on more regular basis as I feel maths should be available to students of all abilities and where possible students should become empowered and self reliant in maths.

Teaching Experience:

I originally tutored other undergrads while still at university. Since then I have tutored at all levels from 11+ entrance to PhD students. I am currently tutoring GCSE, A level and IB students with some forays into university maths. I have enabled students with limited maths ability to achieve A*s at both GCSE and A level as well ensuring gifted students maintain their A* standards.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is flexible as it totally depends on the student. Not only their innate ability, their current situation but the time and effort they are able/willing to give.
At the end of the day its all about breaking down school maths into a collection of simple processes and rules. Then ensuring the student can identify which rules to use, how to apply them and has been provided with the basic algebraic and numeracy skills to process the rules..
I prefer the 'by example' approach using external analogies where possible. For example at A level module with 16+ past papers allows the classic 'by example' technique to be a recommended exam weapon.

Personal Description:
My background is in Medical Biochemistry - BSc (Hons) 2:1 and Cancer Biochemistry - PhD. My passion from teaching came during my PhD years at the University of Leeds where I began tutoring undergraduates and was part of the high school liaison team where we would meet and greet prospective new undergraduates.
I then went on to complete a PGCE at Newcastle and am now currently an active teacher in a local high school.

Teaching Experience:

Currently a teacher in a local high school.
I have experience in teaching GCSE core science, additional science and additional applied science.
As a high school teacher I also have experience at teaching AS and A2 level Chemistry.
Whilst studying for my PhD in cancer biochemistry I was a practical demonstrator/tutor to a group of between 16 and 20 undergraduate biochemistry students.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching and learning has to revolve around the style of the learner. There is no one correct style and as an educator it is our responsibility to meet the needs of our student. As a result my teaching style should hopefully reflect this and as a result form an effective working relationship; ultimately leading to academic success and an increased confidence in one's own abilities and skills.

Personal Description:
I am a Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) teacher at a mixed grammar school in North Kent. I am very passionate about French, Spanish and Italian, which I studied at university and thoroughly enjoy my job teaching these languages! Whilst at university, I spent an academic year living in the South-East of Spain, totally immersed in the language and culture of the amazing country, and giving me the opportunity to travel around it at weekends and during the holidays. I have since been to Cuba and Mexico, providing me with a greater insight, first-hand, into the Hispanic world. I have also enjoyed an academic year on the French speaking Caribbean island of Guadeloupe and spells in Chambery, France and Rome, Italy. In my free time I enjoy film, theatre, reading, running and socialising.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach in a grammar school where I also have a position as Specialism Leader, meaning that I organise language-orientated events and opportunities for our students and students from other schools in the borough as well as training for teachers. My training whilst studying to be a teacher was in a mixed state school and an all boys state school in Oxfordshire. I have been involved in teaching and assisting in the MFL classroom since my university years; teaching English in a secondary school in Spain and in a primary school in Guadeloupe. During my second year at university, I worked voluntarily as an MFL classroom assistant in a school in Surrey, for which I won a borough-wide award. I have also taught English to adults, and so, as you can see, have experience working with learners of all ages. In school, I teach my languages to all three Key Stages. My teaching at Key Stage 5 includes preparing students for the International Baccalaureate (IB)); I am therefore familiar with the present examination requirements in MFLs. As well as being an MFL teacher, I am TESOL qualified to teach English as a second/additional language and enjoyed working a number of summers and during other holidays at a private school in Berkshire for students from overseas.

Tutoring Approach:

Whether teaching a whole class or tutoring one-to-one, my approach to teaching and learning is enthusiastic, thorough and varied as well as professional. I really aim to support students in their learning and in how they go about learning as well as in their confidence in and enjoyment of the subject. I have worked with a number of students of different ages, in different languages and at different stages of their learning one-to-one and adapt my teaching styles, materials and exercises accordingly.

Personal Description:
Hello, I am Heather, I am 18. I am currently a Fine Art student at Nottingham Trent University. Although I was born in England and English is my mother-tongue, I have lived in Spain since I was 5 and therefore I am fluent in both languages.
I also studied in Hong Kong for the last two years of my life, therefore I feel extremely interested and passionate about languages and culture. That is why I love teaching them!

I have experience in private tuition in English, Spanish and Art.

Teaching Experience:

Tutoring Approach:

I am very patient and good with children and I like to make classes as entertaining as possible. I always tend to speak in the language I am teaching, whether the student is a beginner or an advanced, that way they can totally summerge themselves in the language and slowly pick up words. Whether I am teaching adults or children, I always prepare games for the classes. I try to make lessons as conversational as possible unless I am asked to do otherwise.

Teaching Experience:

The one thing that irritated me most throughout education was the heavy work loads and pressure you're given - at a young age this can be a very stressful time. I believe that the key to a students learning is to take things step by step, working on smaller pieces of work at a time and working slowly up to bigger loads of work. I aim to provide a fun teaching experience and aim to assist with students learning development.

In addition to tutoring sessions I can provide help and assistance via email and can also provide online tutoring (at a fee) via Skype messaging service. Parents or guardians of pupils at a younger age can contact me at any time and I will keep in close contact to ensure the parent(s)/guardian(s) and student feels happy and positive with the development.

Tutoring Approach:

I find the most import aspect of tutoring is to work out what the student needs help with most. It's about working in steps and ensuring the pupil learns more and more from each step. There is no pressure and due to not long having left education I understand most how frustrating education can be at a young age. I apply a fun and calm style to tutoring and ensure the pupil is happy at all times.
