Personal Description:
I am currently offering tuition services in Mathematics at high school level - (National 4, 5, Higher and Advanced Higher).
I am born and bred in Glasgow.
I am based in Bishopbriggs, however, I am willing to travel further to other parts of Glasgow to tutor others.
I am a 24 year old Scottish individual who has a strong passion in Mathematics which led me into studying the subject at university as well as leading me into private tuition.
I am a patient and thorough tutor with over 2 years tutoring experience, eager to help students succeed in their academic careers and make the best of their experience. Studied Mathematics for 3 years at Heriot-Watt University.
I have been tutoring students for over 2 years; tutoring many students in both high school and university.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring students for over 2 years; tutoring many students in both high school and university.
The majority of my students achieved at a B or higher in their exams.
I studied Mathematics for 3 years at Heriot-Watt University, allowing me to have a diverse knowledge and skills in dealing problem solving and equations.
In the past, I have tutored students all over glasgow. In addition, I have also volunteered to help students in Strathclyde University with their resits over the summer. I volunteered to help students with standard grade mathematics in an after school tutoring facility in Lenize/ Kirkintilloch.

Tutoring Approach:

Generally, my tutoring techniques are quite structured and detailed.I ensure that whatever topic I am teaching is explained in the simplest way possible to understand.
My main goal is to identify pupils' weaknesses, focus on those areas and look and see how to improve. I also make sure my students understand the subject fully before moving. Understanding Mathematics is important to passing exams and achieving good grades and I am able to do this by providing detailed examples and solutions. I make sure to go over each topic in detail and provide examples for my students to do. Each person learns differently so I either give them notes I have written beforehand or I let them write up notes in bullets points and formulas which can be good for muscle memory. My main focus is past paper revision. As I believe if you can complete the past papers easily, you can past the exam easily.

Personal Description:
I have retired to this area where I enjoy living near the sea, and walking. I volunteer at our local theatre/cinema and sing in the choir at our Church in Southbourne. I have three grandchildren, two in London and one in USA and spend what time I can with them, using skype to talk to my family in USA. My husband and I both enjoy gardening.

Teaching Experience:

I am an Oxford graduate with more than 20 years of teaching experience in schools including A level maths and further maths (pure, statistics, and with a particular interest in mechanics). I have also given private tutoring to a large number of pupils from SATs to A levels. Many of those I have taught have returned for help with further exams, or have sent their friends to me, so most of my pupils have come through personal recommendation.

Tutoring Approach:

It gives me great pleasure to help those who struggle with maths to gain confidence and even come to enjoy the subject as well as helping the high fliers get their A grades. I expect pupils to work hard, but think it important to give work that is within their capability so the pupil can feel the achievement of getting things right.

Personal Description:
I grew up in the UK and then worked in Indonesia for 10 years, teaching Indonesian scholars on pre-departure academic programs. I also taught cross-cultural and study skills courses. After Indonesia, I moved to Australia, where I worked at two universities in Brisbane, the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. More recently I have worked on Exeter and Bath University's pre-sessional program. I'm a friendly, kind and patient person with a good sense of humour and I love teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 20 years, mainly in the UK, Australia and Indonesia. I have experience working with English language learners at all levels and particularly at the university level. I can prepare students before their academic study or can assist them when they have already started university.
I am also very experienced in exam preparation. Most of my work has been on IELTS preparation courses (I used to be an IELTS examiner) but also on FCE preparation programs. I currently teach students in groups and one-to-one and I am available for Skype classes.

Tutoring Approach:

I think it's important to listen to students and identify their individual needs. I try and see them as they are, without judgment and I also encourage them to see the facts about their language learning, rather than their opinions. Many students say they are 'bad students' and this does not help their learning. So I show them a different path where they can look at the specifics of what they are doing and how they can improve their skills step by step. This makes them feel better about themselves and their studies. It also gives them responsibility for their own learning.
I also bring humour into the classroom as I feel laughter is very important to the learning process. Some students have said that my classes are 'like being in a family' and I think that's a lovely compliment.

Personal Description:
My name is Simon and I am a graduate from the University of Leeds with a strong 1st class degree in Japanese, Russian and Ukrainian languages. I have completed my MA in Japanese cultural studies and now I have recently finished a PhD in Japanese focussing on the international reception of modern Japanese popular culture.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught all three languages, Japanese, Russian and Ukrainian to all levels to various age groups in preparation for exams and or general study for the students own pleasure. I am able to advise on proper essay style for assignments for all levels ranging from primary to university education.

Whilst studying abroad in Japan and Russia as part of my formal studies I taught English as a foreign language in Konan University situated in Kobe, Japan and in Moscow state university in Moscow, thus I am more than prepared and understand the requirements of language learning both from a native speaker level and as a student.

Having lived in both Japan and Russia I am also very aware of, and competent with, colloquial Japanese and Russian language and am prepared to teach both formal language and once a grasp of the language has been achieved I can move onto more colloquial language skills to speak like a true native speaker

Tutoring Approach:

I tutor in a relaxed environment tailored to each individual student's needs and wishes.I will then help the tutee create a work plan, and work through all areas that need attention.

I feel it is important to target the areas in which a student needs and or wishes to improve in so as to boost confidence. Regarding language study, I firmly believe that self confidence is one of the most important aspects to understand so that steps towards fluency can be achieved.

I am friendly, patient and understanding, and appreciate that everyone works at a different pace.

Having completed A levels in Biology, Chemistry (and Politics) to A* standard, I have a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the current curriculum along with excellent organisational and interactional skills plus past tutoring experience. Whilst i'm pursuing my passion for music at the moment, I have a real affinity to science; holding a place at Kings College London to study Biochemistry in 2016.

Teaching Experience:

In terms of tutoring experience, mine is extensive! Since 2012, I've taught many students of varying abilities, all of which have achieved or surpassed their target grade.

My aim is to engage pupils and, working with each specific syllabus in mind, find imaginative and accessible ways of explaining unfamiliar concepts. I encourage my tutees to go through practice exams etc with me after covering a section. This way we can translate knowledge into actual results.

Tutoring Approach:

I am an approachable down-to-earth tutor to whom students can, whilst keeping focused and on track, relate. I am patient and understand the importance of asking questions - that's what tutors are for. Personal Description:
I'm a native Polish speaker, Southampton graduate and a student of the University of Amsterdam. I'm talkative and approachable, passionate about languages and society.

Teaching Experience:

Over 3 years of steady tutoring experience. I've conducted both long term language courses as well as short ones for weddings and holidays. I've taught adults, university students and GCSE-level pupils. My main focus is on individual tutoring but I also have classroom experience and I'm happy to engage with groups.

Methods I've used span from conventional book-style approach, flexible course formed in co-operation with a student (choice of topics, methods, material, focus) to theme-specific conversation.

Tutoring Approach:

My priority is to make personalised lessons, focus them around interests, preferences and needs of each student. I use variety of materials (books, newspapers, songs, films, photographs, games, additional grammatical and vocabulary exercises). I adjust pace and method of introducing new information and skills to fit individual needs.

Language is a practical skill and I aim to give you the ability to communicate with your Polish friends, partners and co-workers. I also see language as a gateway to culture and I'm happy to complement lessons with insight to interesting and unique parts of Polish life.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, I respond quickly :)

Reference:

'Ewa has taught me Polish for over a year now. She's made a lot of effort to ensure that the lessons are well-tailored to my needs. She's very conscientious and always well-organised, but also flexible and has a good balance between being professional and teaching in a relaxed manner. I feel like I've made a lot of progress under her tutelage and always enjoy my lessons, so would happily recommend her to others.' Sam, 29

I have taught a whole collection of students at different levels and achieved a 100% pass rate with my students at KS4 & 5.

I have marked for the exam board OCR since 2014 and marked a mixture of OCR GCSE Computer Science and OCR Cambridge Nationals in ICT exam papers allowing me to provide useful insight into the exam marking systems used by exam boards.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach at a secondary school in Leeds and teach from Key Stages 3 to 5. I currently have classes studying ICT, Computer Science and Business Studies. As part of my role I lead the Computer Science courses which include OCR Computing and the new OCR 9-1 Computer Science course. I have been private tutoring for the past 2 years which has included a wide variety of clients of different ages and abilities.

Before working in Leeds I have taught at two secondary schools in Sunderland and taught in Further Education at Gateshead College.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in using a variety of teaching methods to suit the needs of the student to ensure each individual person can succeed. I believe that all students deserve to achieve and that is accomplished through a variety of styles alongside regular monitoring and assessment but also through a positive, professional manner.

Personal Description:
I am an avid musician and educationalist, with a passion for sharing my interests in music and learning with children and young adults. As a parent and trained Teacher, I can see from different perspectives the different aspects of learning in life, and am keen to foster a love of learning whenever I am involved with a child or young person.

Teaching Experience:

I have 7 years experience working in a Special Needs school working across the 11-19 age range primarily, with much crossover into Primary and Early Years. When my children were at nursery I worked closely with the team to develop their behaviour management and early communication skills, giving me a different range of experiences to call upon. I have also taught private music lessons with great client satisfaction for over 10 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I am experienced in adapting my approach to delivery depending on context, having worked in classrooms, with learner orchestras, and in 1:1 settings. Fun and enjoyment should be central to a successful learning experience, and I try to ensure a relaxed approach in sessions facilitates this.

Personal Description:
I am a passionate, patient and friendly psychology Assistant Psychologist looking to support students in their GCSE, A-Level and degree level psychology. I appreciate that finding the right tutor, motivation and support can be difficult and therefore will offer the first lesson free as a taster! Having been a student myself, I understand how stressful the period can be - the not knowing which exam questions will arise in the exam, having to retain a host of studies and worrying that you will go blank in the exam. Totally normal worries! However, together we can identify key areas you feel you need support in whether that be exam technique, looking at past mock and/or specimen papers, understanding the assessment objectives in relation to specific questions or simply quizzing if you need a "study partner". There are many forms of support that can be tailored to your needs.

Teaching Experience:

Although I am not a qualified teacher, I have completed degree level poster conferences, internal presentations to peers and lecturers, led mindfulness and relaxation sessions for adults experiencing chronic conditions in an outpatient service and currently co-facilitate an anxiety management group with young people that have eating disorders and self-harming behaviours as an Assistant Psychologist. Essentially, I really enjoy working with people and believe that my clinical and research experiences will enable me to better understand your needs and support you during this period.

I am aware that since completing my GCSEs in 2008 and A-Levels in 2010, the exam specs have changed. For this reason, I wish to tutor GCSE/A-Level students on the AQA syllabus only given the time frame. Please do not hesitate to contact me via email or phone for further details.

Tutoring Approach:

Simply put, I adopt a person-centrerd approach when working with individuals. It is all about what you want to achieve and understanding the information in a way that suits your learning style. For example, I am a visual learner - anything that has colour/structure in the form of a spider diagram suits me very well. We all learn differently and hopefully we can gauge which method suits you best so that you can 1. Retain the information, 2. Enjoy the revision time 3. Achieve the best possible marks 4. Learn in a way that accommodates your skills - REAL! It is time to get "real" you can and will do it!

My aim is to enable students to have the confidence to learn the course content and have the self-belief that they can do this! I would prefer to do tutoring in a public library (if possible) but not in my own home.
