Personal Description:
I moved to Warwickshire from Kent in 2013 and I have chosen to settle in Stratford-upon-Avon. I have worked with children in schools; as well as helping to run a Brownies unit. Unfortunately I had to leave the Brownies when I began counselling training. I find that the listening skills I have developed are valuable when teaching; and especially when meeting parents or carers to discuss the requirements for tuition. I enjoy baking and playing board games as pass-times. I am also currently working as a Local Organiser, placing French students with host families for a visit in summer 2016.

Teaching Experience:

I have seven years experience of working in primary schools. My roles have included: teaching whole classes; supporting small groups of pupils with basic skills; and one-to-one phonics and spellings lessons.

I have been a private tutor since 2010. Parents and carers of children of all ages across the primary phase have employed me as a tutor. My experience includes preparing children for SATs and eleven plus tests, and entrance exams. Many of my tutees have had successful outcomes from these. I have excellent references, which highlight children's significant progress and increased confidence since working with me.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a calm and gentle approach, and I have a proven ability to make children feel at ease when working with me. I tailor tutoring to the individual child, taking into account their strengths and preferred learning styles. I use games where appropriate to reinforce concepts; and to make learning enjoyable. I praise children regularly to motivate them; and to recognise their achievements.

Personal Description:
I am friendly and cheerful, I want each individual to achieve their personal best in their chosen subject. I believe that one to one tutoring can be an enormous help to students, particularly where good personal relationships are formed. I enjoy seeing students grapple with difficulties and then move forward - with support and determination, goals can be reached.

Teaching Experience:

I trained to teach in 1980, since then I have taught individuals, classes and groups in the UK and abroad.
I have worked in full time and part time posts in further education, in schools and in individual hourly sessions.
My most recent experience has been as a full time primary school teacher, working in a Warwickshire primary school for the last 15 years with experience of both Key Stage 1 and 2 curriculum.
I am used to teaching both those who expect to succeed and those who are more used to failure,

I am currently available and welcome enquiries from individuals seeking to extend their learning.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in working with each individual and if relevant their parents or guardians.
I aim to tailor an individual porgramme to the needs of each person.
What interests me is finding out what your child needs and how you want me to support him/her then working steadily towards an agreed outcome.
Establishing good communication between your child and me is of paramount importance to success.
I look forward to meeting you.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer rigorous editing services for university and postgraduate students. My hourly rate is high, relative to other tutors, but I make no apology for my rate. When you contract with me, you get a thorough, professional job from a working academic. You will be apprised of the work I am doing at every step - and you can opt for me to work fewer hours on a project.

Many students regard my editing as an education that helps them mature as academic writers, so that they can take the next step to successful MA and PhD work.

Please * do not * contact me if you need someone to do your writing for you. I accept only accomplished students who want to make substantial advances in their writing. I take my responsibility to the academy very seriously and I will reject any student who tries to use my service to engage in plagiarism.

* I offer a free 30 minute interview via online video chat so that you can determine if my work will meet your needs.

Personal Description:
I'm an experienced stage and television actor with a degree in English (2.i) from Trinity Hall, Cambridge and a 2-year post-grad qualification from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. I live in central London (Westminster) and enjoy balancing out the right brain activities of acting with the rather more left brain activities of teaching - especially Latin, which I studied through A-Level to degree, taking a Latin translation and literary criticism paper in Part 1 of my Cambridge Tripos.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught both privately and at a range of different schools and colleges for many years. My private client base has principally been in teaching Latin for Common Entrance and GCSE. In terms of classroom experience, I have worked as a supply Latin teacher at Eaton House Schools and as an A-Level English Tutor at Collingham Tutors. The majority of my work is as a private tutor travelling to people's homes and offering additional support to 10-16 year olds who are struggling with their Latin. I have a huge success rate in terms of results, regularly turning C-grade students into A-graders.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is both pragmatic and personal. Every child is different and therefore every child requires a subtly different approach. In terms of teaching English Literature my principle objective is to inspire. In terms of teaching Latin my key concerns are rigour and attention to detail. With the right approach it is often very easy to turn a child who hates Latin at school into one that (even if it is secretly) both loves it and does very well.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced industrial chemist, having postdoctoral experience with Avecia and GSK. I then retrained as a teacher and have taught at all levels from school to University. My experience covers A-levels and Advanced Higher. I have six years teaching experience, which includes 3 years at FE colleges, 1 year at University and 2 years at secondary school. As a home tutor and online tutor I have two years experience. Some of my students needed A's to enter Medicine or veterinary medicine. With my help they pulled their grades up to get this. Other students just wanted to pass and sometimes they surprised themselves by getting B's. I have taught dyslexic students as they were struggling with traditional teaching at school or college. My visual and imaginative teaching style has helped many of these students. In fact this approach helps all my students. Based in France I am limited to online tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching in schools, colleges and University. My experience covers A-Levels, HND, HNC and University. I also specialize in private tuition which I enjoy very much. Many tutors are students or graduates who do not have teacher training. I am a professional educator who provides quality tutoring at very reasonable rates.

Tutoring Approach:

All my students get a tailored learning approach and regular feedback at the end of each tutoring session. Underpinning my tutoring is exam preparation. Students are coached to understand the marking process. During the tutorial session students work hard by solving problems and formulating their own conclusions. In fact I work on the principle "don't tell teach". In first tuition I will provide proof of qualifications. With advances in technology online tuition provides an excellent alternative to home tutoring. I can talk to students face to face via skype. We can also communicate via an online white board (its online so you have nothing to install on your computer). All you need is a computer, internet, skype and a micro. I will give a short free trial tutorial before paid tutorials. If you are not satisfied we part company no obligation.

Personal Description:
I am a highly experienced Maths tutor, geared toward ensuring you get the best exam grades possible in your field. I will increase your understanding of maths, and my explanations are simple and straightforward. Alongside tutoring, I will guide you through exam techniques, and common pitfalls.

Teaching Experience:

6 years private tutor. 4 years private tutor in Maths 1, Maths 2, and Mechanics of Materials of University's courses.
2 years experiences in GCSE and A Level Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching strategy usually involves engaging the student in critical thinking early on, as I believe this is the key to understanding, and I will never "tell" a student what he should do, or why this is like that, but to direct his thinking so that he/she understands why this is the way it is, and why should he/she act that way. I do not believe in memorisation being the main way of teaching in some countries, as this usually does not prepare people for university and life in general, specially in science and maths. Of course, there's always a degree of memorisation in every subject, but I try to keep it to a minimum. This also depends on every student, and I ultimately asses my strategy individually for each student.

Tutoring Approach:

Personal Description:
I am an inspiring, self-motivating and dynamic teacher with extensive experience in teaching at the UK academies, selective schools and a number of top boarding schools. As a result, I have acquired specialized knowledge of UK and Chinese educational systems and a flexible approach to teaching which is most relevant to the demands of the post.

Similarly, my strong academic record indicates that I am well-qualified for the job. In particular, I am currently studying Mandarin Chinese PGCE course at Institute of Education, which leads the UK for education training. The course has provided me with in-depth methodology skills, highly suited to the UK framework for teaching Mandarin Chinese. As part of this training, I have undergone intense observations across a wide range of school placements. This has provided me with practical experience of developing schemes of work in line with the National Curriculum of Mandarin Chinese.

Furthermore, during my school placements training, I have found this experience immensely rewarding and have developed an approach to teaching which aims to challenge and engage young minds. I have developed skills in teaching critical thinking and learnt how to nurture innovation and original thought. I instill high expectations in pupils and encourage self-efficacy as a tool for enabling achievement. Similarly, given the academic criteria of my school placements, I am expected to teach from basic to Oxbridge level. I have also developed insight into the value of inspiring pupils' intrinsic motivation and meta-knowledge. This involves emphasizing the importance of knowing individual strengths in order to capitalize on them and individual difficulties so as to identify enabling strategies. In addition, by fostering these facets of self-awareness, I find that pupils are often able to self-regulate aspects of their learning to excellent effect.

I will bring energy and enthusiasm to the school's extra-curricular activities. For example, I could offer Movie Clubs screening Chinese movies and Culture Clubs sharing Chinese Calligraphy and Tea Ceremonies. I am particularly skilled at cooking traditional Chinese food, which could be integrated into the school's Mandarin days and Festival celebrations. I am interested in Chinese music, singing and drama. I believe that integrating singing and drama into the Mandarin department would be a motivating tool for developing oral skills in the target language.

Finally, I believe teaching is one of the few vocations in life that can make a significant difference to people's lives, enabling children and young people to build a promising future. I also find teaching to be a very rewarding career, I am particularly happy and proud each time my students make progress in their study or advocate positive behavior. I also enjoy the challenge of teaching and developing new ways to make my lessons interesting and stimulating to a wide range of students.

Teaching Experience:

I have intensive teaching English and Mandarin Chinese experience in both top China secondary schools and UK academies and selective schools.

Tutoring Approach:

I will be teaching according to the students' age and different learning styles accordingly.

Personal Description:
My name is Heyka, 44 years old and I'm from Germany. I spent half of my life in Southamerica and Germany what made it easy for me to be fluent in three languages. I'm a certified correspondent and have been working for different companies doing contract translations. I changed office work to self-employment and started giving lessons for students and also in companies. Individual- and group lessons. In addition to this i continued with translation of contracts and manuals.
As a mother of two grown up boys, I know how much work and patience is requested to 'fight' the school time ;)

Teaching Experience:

Beginners Level - Advanced Level for:

Tuition for school students
Exam preparation (A-levels, university, TOEFL, LCCI)
Individual- and group tuition
Telephone training
Application training - Interview training
Preparation for stays abroad (Intercultural Training)
Pronunciation courses for deaf people (Development of individual phonetic transcription)

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to enable people to learn a new language or to improve the existing skills.
I always individually adjust my lessons to the required needs. It is important for me to see that the learners make progress and enjoy the learning time.
To be successful it is important to identify the strengths and needs of the learners and to dispose of good communication skills, patience and to like working with people.

Personal Description:
Being academically focused myself, I am confident in being able to motivate and teach through a variety of methods that hopefully excite my tu-tee. Through secondary, I thrived generally in most, if not all subjects. Maths, however, will remain my favourite. I am enthusiastic about teaching and I hope to prove my ability to engage students and guide them on their educational paths.
I am particularly flexible in that I am open to on-line tutoring through Skype if need be.

Currently I am studying Maths, Physics, Latin and Art at ALEVEL.

Teaching Experience:

I've voluntarily taught temporarily at Southfields Primary school, where I taught English.
I volunteer at Sidney Stringer Academy at the Maths GCSE re-take classes for students who are struggling to pass their Maths GCSE at a grade C or above.

Tutoring Approach:

Having recently undergone the exams myself, I feel I'm in the most suitable position to advise current students on how to cope with the content of the constantly changing exam syllabus and exam format. My teaching methods will vary depending on how I assess the student is coping with the subject. If the student learns visually, for example, I can direct them to a range of videos, or even create some myself to suit their learning.
good organisation is key to organising the content both on paper and in your head. As an extremely organised person, I can properly advise students on how to manage their workload to maximise the efficiency of their working.
Different people take different amounts of time to grasp certain concepts and I am open to facilitating their needs.

Personal Description:
I grew up in south-west London, in Twickenham, before attending Tiffin School (Kingston-Upon-Thames) and Cambridge University, where I was awarded my BA (Hons) degree in History of Art. I have always engaged with extracurricular activities with enthusiasm, something which my educational institutions have given me ample opportunity to do.

My main passion has been acting. It has provided many opportunities to meet and get to know a huge range of different people, all in a challenging, intense environment. Fundamentally, it is the opportunity to engage with the perspective of another person and to attempt to embody this in actions and speech. It requires a performer to listen to and work with others on stage, and to work within a flexible, productive relationship - this is essential for any student-teacher relationship, as a dialogue begins to emerge.

My other interests have similarly complemented my academic pursuits: I have played rugby union for 14 years, up to and including university level, and used to play the french horn in the school orchestra. Both activities gave me an opportunity to voice my individual contribution to the group whilst working within a team, invaluable experience for academic discussion as well as confidence in many other areas of life. They offer different approaches to problem solving and develop some of the broader skills essential for academic success, such as self-expression, articulation, flexibility and confidence.

Teaching Experience:

My experience includes working with primary school students (age 4-6), through a voluntary program at secondary school. This involved helping children to learn to read. The weekly session required empathy and flexibility on my part, demanding an understanding that each child`s ability was completely unique, and that my approach needed to be modified to fit each person. In particular, I had to cultivate patience and a desire to listen and to understand everything the child was saying.

Whilst at university I also participated in a student run mentoring scheme, which gave unprivileged children the opportunity to understand life and work at Cambridge. It was a fascinating opportunity to understand some of the social and personal blocks to academic confidence, as well as offering ways in which these problems might be developed and overcome. Most importantly, it was a joyful experience to be able to help a younger person, and to understand that they were a unique person with their own approach to problems and solutions. By listening to him, I gradually learnt the ways in which they best communicated and how I could use those situations to our advantage as a student-teacher pair.

More recently, I have participated in a student-run university theatre tour which also comprised educational workshops. These workshops were a much bigger part of the tour than we had originally thought, and proved to be challenging at times. This was partly from the language barrier (many classes spoke little to no English, and were often too embarrassed to speak at all), but also from the unpredictable nature of the students. We had to work on our feet, employing what resources we had in a way which was meaningful, cumulative and ultimately led to an end. Our exercises required an overall structure and an ultimate purpose, but we also wanted to adjust this according to their reactions. Though I initially found this challenging, towards the end of the tour I could take charge of workshops and lead them with ease.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching and intellectual discussion have always been an important part of my family life, and it is an activity which I enjoy on a personal as well as professional level. My time at university has developed my ability to think in this way, as well as providing an environment in which I was surrounded by these kinds of discussion, with both professors and students. The emphasis on close-contact supervision periods at Cambridge taught me the importance of helping each student understand their individual form of expression.

I would avoid didactic repetition and seek to challenge the student and invite them to contribute. As well as work done outside the tutoring time period, I would encourage tasks such as presentations and prepared discussions as much as possible. I believe this work lays an essential base for passionate intellectual discussion, and it is something which certainly helped me in my university interview.

Coupled with this development of interest in particular subject areas, I would try to help the student's method of arguing and offer sustained, constructive advice on how that might be more effective. A university candidate is only as successful as their ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, something which may require exercises as different as confidence building or syntax and grammar. But as well as this self-belief and self expression, the student would need to acknowledge that academic (and educational) progress can be achieved by listening to others and attempting to understand their point of view. This dialogic aspect is essential to my tutoring approach.
