Personal Description:
I am a 28 year old qualified teacher, who is enthusiatic about all areas of the curriculum and supporting children in their learning journey.
I have a particular interest in languages and Literacy, and enjoy a rewarding job as a classroom teacher.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching in the classroom for seven years. I have had a variety of posts, teaching many children from different backgrounds and with different learning styles.
I have experience teaching children from five to eleven, and I also work with children up to Year eight in my current post.
I am the Learning Support Co-ordinator at my place of work as well as Year One class teacher, which enables me to have a greater insight into different learning and teaching styles, and support the learning of a diverse range of children.

Tutoring Approach:

I will direct each session towards a clear learning objective, and plan various activities to support and consolidate this. I believe that every child has uniques learning styles, and I will endeavour to plan sessions to appeal to these. Children learn best when they are fully enaged, and I will plan sessions to appeal to any strengths or particular interests of each child.
I will build a good working relationship with each student, as children work best when they are comfortable in a situation.
I hope that the pupils I support will have great enjoyment and success as a result of receiving tuition from me.

Personal Description:
I studied a BSc in Genetics at the University of Liverpool after which I worked in a microbiology laboratory. In 2008, I moved to Brighton, my home town, and completed a PGCE in secondary science with the University of Brighton. My teaching practice was in two West Sussex schools and I then worked a maternity contract as a Teacher of Biology in an all-girls school in central Brighton. Following this role, I worked as an Editor for a science publishing company based in London.

My most recent teaching position was as Teacher of Science at Bellerbys College, Brighton, an international school which prepares students for a university education in the UK. Since 2008, I have tutored many students from GCSE to University level providing guidance for exams and subject-specific support. I thoroughly enjoy imparting my understanding and love of science to others.

I have recently returned to England after living in Scotland undertaking an MSc in Psychology at the University of Abertay, Dundee, whilst also working as an Independent Advocate. Alongside this, having trained as a Yoga teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga, I teach private and group Yoga classes.

Teaching Experience:

I hold a PGCE in secondary science from the University of Brighton and whilst on this course I taught 11-18 year olds at two West Sussex schools. I then worked for a year, on a maternity contract, as a Teacher of Biology at an all-girls school in central Brighton. For three years I worked a full-time position as a Teacher of Science at Bellerbys College, Brighton.

I have eight years tutoring experience, having tutored Undergraduate-Level, A-Level, AS-level, GCSE and mature students in both Biology and Chemistry. I have a very successful track record.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very friendly and approachable, and highly dedicated to my students -- I put in a lot of time and effort to ensure they are achieving their full potential. Within the sessions, I provide solid structure and tailor my approach to their individual needs. I suggest work for completion outside of sessions and provide the students with direction to develop their private approach to learning and revision.

I am able to explain difficult concepts in an easily digested way, making learning for them enjoyable and confidence-boosting. I have a clear, patient manner, and an excellent grasp of my subject specialisms.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching students at GCSE, AS Advanced Level for the last five years achieving very high results for my students. I hope continue my current achievement though dedicated individual coaching.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of the University of Liverpool and of the Open University, and in addition hold a Post Graduate Certificate of Education.

Although English is my principal focus, I have a wide range of interest, including among other things history, fell-walking, football, tennis and Latin.

Publications:
3 sets of GCSE materials
The Medieval Boy Bishops
Richard III: The King in the Car Park
The "Twins" series of children's novels
The "Kit" series of children's novels

I am happy to tutor in your home.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English and English Literature for over 25 years in both state and independent schools to a wide range of pupils, from the very high achieving to the less able.

At A level I have taught English Literature, English Language, and English Language/Literature.

I have been Head of English for 18 years in two schools (one of which has been one of most successful comprehensive schools in the country) for a number of years. My departments have always been the most successful or among the most successful departments.

My teaching career has involved teaching and tutoring pupils and students of all ages and abilities from year 3 to degree level.

Over a period of three years three of my pupils - from over 350,000 candidates in each year - were awarded the highest marks in the AQA GCSE English and Literature examinations, .

My department received an award for the highest performing A level girls nationally.

My GCSE results for have been consistently better than predictions by between a half a grade and a grade.

I have had similar success with A level.

My classes' National Curriculum levels are usually a level or more better than predictions.

I have successfully coached primary age pupils for entry to public schools and selective state schools, including Eton, Oundle, Magdalen College School, King`s Peterborough and Bourne Grammar. I have many years of tutoring experience.

Tutoring Approach:

Since every student is an individual with their own range of skills and knowledge, I tailor my teaching to their needs. Accordingly, I select from a range of traditional and more informal methods to suit the individual.

The following are some of the areas where different students often require help, although the list is by no means exhaustive:

At Key Stages 2 and 3:

spelling, punctuation, grammar
comprehension, including answering written questions
creativity, including writing descriptions, narratives and poetry
writing skills, including sustaining a coherent, interesting style.

At GCSE:

responding to more complex comprehension questions
writing detailed essays developing use of evidence and discussion
understanding and responding to set texts, including essay responses
techniques for oral work.

At A Level:

Understanding and responding to texts
Analysing spoken and written English
Writing polished, detailed, fluent essays

Working in Groups:

Although I usually work with individuals, it can be more cost-effective if you are able to put together two or more students to work side-by-side.

Personal Description:
My name is Dave, and I live in the Inverness area. I have a degree in History (Hons), and my area of expertise is UK and European social history from 1700. I have also studied US history, Scottish history, and European political history.

I also have a Masters Degree in Employment Law and Practice through the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.

In my spare time I coach school football, and have done so for 8 years.

Teaching Experience:

While I have no formal teaching experience, I have home tutored several children of friends. I have also coached hundreds of children up to age 16, in football lessons. As head coach for the local school, I have taught not only technical skills to children, but just as importantly, instilled a sense of self belief, and confidence, in their abilities. The confidence to express an opinion is vitally important and I do believe that, when it comes to history, belief in ability in expressing one's own viewpoint is crucial.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to encourage self belief, and achieve this through a relaxed, proactive approach to the subject matter. I can critically analyse a students written work, and suggest ways of making those all important changes in order to achieve higher grades.

Personal Description:
I have a BA Honours Degree in English Studies from Aleppo University in Syria in 2000. I embarked on two Postgraduate Diplomas at Aleppo University one in Linguistics (2002); the other in Education and Qualification in 2003. In both of these Diplomas I was awarded a Distinction. In 2002, I was fortunate in gaining a scholarship to study in the UK and was nominated to study in the department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex. I found this course to be immensely useful to me as a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) professional as I was able to observe a range of different EAP (English for Academic Purposes)classrooms; make academic presentations and really developed my love of scholarship which fired me with the enthusiasm to read for a PhD degree. I finished my doctorate in TESOL at the University of Ulster entitled "EAP Teachers Approaches to Giving Written Feedback on Academic Writing in British and Syrian ELT Centres". . I am extremely interested in teaching the language skills (as my recent doctorate shows). I am extremely hard working and sociable. I have good comparative knowledge of Western and Islamic societies which I could share with students where pertinent. I also have two qualifications from Ulster University in Peer Mentoring and Counselling.

I have strong interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills and self-motivator. Apart from being an interesting experience in itself, tutoring is an ideal opportunity for me at this stage of my career as the area of this job is interesting to me and I have got the enthusiasm and motivation and energy to do it well and to develop things.I would like consider offering online tutorials (email writing tutorials for students who can not attend some classes).

Teaching Experience:

In the Diploma of Education and Qualification, I have been trained how to teach and how to deliver lectures in Arabic and English and also how to prepare lesson plan. I have experience of teaching university students in Syria as I was a lecturer at Aleppo University from 2002 to 2013. I enjoy teaching and lecturing and love my profession as I am particularly interested in communicating with individuals and groups. My colleagues and supervisors all say that I am a natural communicator and this, coupled with my knowledge of the field, leads me to think that I would make a good teacher. My mother tongue language is Arabic, yet my knowledge of written and spoken English is very good as well. I am also interested in materials design and curriculum development in ELT and could make useful contributions in these areas. I have also specialized in ESP, Materials and Methods in ELT, Language Teachers in Classrooms and Vocabulary and would be interested in teaching international students. My job in Syria was delivering pre-sessional programmes in academic English language to Syrian postgraduate students. Those students have to attend some EAP and ESP courses and pass the final exam which will enable them to pursue their high studies in Syria or in some English speaking countries like UK, USA and Canada. My teaching experience gives me a deeper insight and understanding of actual teaching/learning contexts. When I did my MA degree at Essex University, I taught some international students as part of the "Teaching Practice" module. I have been trained how to write a lesson plan for international students and how to use the PowerPoint for delivering lectures. Furthermore, I am very au fait with technology in the classroom.

Tutoring Approach:

It is the application of an integrating approach for the development of communicative skills in the lesson, in which the four skills in the acquisition of knowledge of a foreign language can be taught in a coherent way, and practiced together, with a distinction of the importance of one upon the other. One image for teaching English as a second or foreign language (ESL/EFL) is that of a tapestry. The tapestry is woven from many strands, such as the characteristics of the teacher, the learner, the setting, and the relevant languages (i.e., English and the native languages of the learners and the teacher). For the instructional loom to produce a large, strong, beautiful, colorful tapestry, all of these strands must be interwoven in positive ways. For example, the instructor's teaching style must address the learning style of the learner, the learner must be motivated, and the setting must provide resources and values that strongly support the teaching of the language. However, if the strands are not woven together effectively, the instructional loom is likely to produce something small, weak, ragged, and pale--not recognizable as a tapestry at all.

Personal Description:
I am in my second year studying Medicine at the Imperial College London after finishing my A levels at a South London school. I have an excellent academic record with 7 A-stars and 3 As in my IGCSE's. I have also achieve the highest score on IGCSE mathematics.

I gained 7 As at AS level. I received an average of 97.8% across the 5 science subjects (math, further math, biology, chemistry and physics). I have also achieved Gold awards at the British Biology Olympiad , Senior Math Challenge and the International Chemistry Olympiad. I self taught myself Further Math modules during AS year; I learned FP1 and D1 last year and achieve 98% on both modules. I enjoy the challenge of maths so I self taught two more A2 modules namely FP2 and S3 and I got 100% and 93% respectively. My A level results were 4A* and 1A. I gained 600/600 in A level Maths, 97% in A level Further Maths, 96.7% in Chemistry, 96% in Physics and 92.7% in Biology overall.

I am originally from Malaysia and I am fluent in both Chinese and English, and I can tailor the lessons to focus on whatever students want to learn about. I am keen to tutor students on sciences, math and mandarin. My main academic interests are medical statistics and applied biotechnology. In addition, I play two instruments and enjoy playing tennis and travelling.

Teaching Experience:

I began tutoring secondary students English and Maths during my time in China. When I first moved to London, I started tutoring students on GCSE sciences. I volunteer to teach English students Mandarin during my time in school. Having been through the stress of exams, I have also held numerous study groups and sessions in order to aid pupils further. I also received an opportunity to tutor two girls on As level Maths and Chemistry for two months or so before the summer 2015 exams.

During the summer, I successfully received a full time job teaching A level Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Toefl English in a tutorial institution in Zhuhai, China for 3 weeks. It was a challenge for me teaching full time and preparing lessons every day to meet the demand of the students. In the end, it was a rewarding experience for me.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning should be enjoyed, I believe the best way to learn is by finding what you are learning interesting so I will aim to make whatever I teach interesting for the student. My approach is tailored to the needs and preferences of the student. Lessons can include:
- Recapping material covered in class
- Going through homework
- Focussing on difficult concepts
- Past exam questions & exam technique
I am willing to answer any questions they have as long as they send me an-email so that I can reply.

I'm a 25 Canadian teacher, now in my third year teaching in London. In addition to teaching, I take part in screenwriting, filmmaking, and online blogging.

Personal Description:
I'm currently a student studying Economics at the University of Birmingham, averaging a first level qualification. I am interested in sharing some of the things I have learnt over my years in education with others, which is why I'm keen to tutor. I have previously mentored students throughout secondary school and really enjoyed it. Apart from university my other interests include; playing sport with the University Korfball team, coaching the Economics netball team, wining and dining as I'm a huge fan of food and I also play in the University Symphony orchestra. This summer I was an intern for PwC in their audit team.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously mentored students through their GCSEs and Alevels at secondary school and really enjoyed it. I am the coach of a netball team so this also gives me skills which help to make me a better tutor such as patience, organisation and effective communication skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe tutoring is the responsibility of both the tutor and the tutee. I would like to plan sessions which are stimulating, engaging and involve ideas bouncing between the two of us, whether that is through debate, discussions or question and answer sessions. I am also open minded so would be prepared to experiment a lot with teaching style. I would be happy to take suggestions about how you'd like me to tutor you so we can establish an approach that works for both parties.

Personal Description:
Associate Chartered Accountant with the ICAEW and first class mathematics graduate from the University of Warwick. Have enjoyed studying mathematics and finance academically and for pleasure for over a decade, including helping others to advance their understanding and enthusiasm for the subjects along the way. I'm also a proud educational volunteer as a Non-Executive Director and School Governor of a Secondary Academy. Mathematics and education aside, I'm a book lover, piano player and keen (but not quite pro) skier.

Teaching Experience:

Non-Executive Director and School Governor of a Secondary Academy, serving on the Finance and Teaching/Learning committees and as a Governor in charge of the Mathematics department. I've also helped others to advance their understanding and enthusiasm for mathematics for over a decade.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to prepare and inspire each student to want to understand the questions and to ultimately explain the answers to me. I constantly ask questions that encourage them to strip each question back to its mathematical basics, enabling them to build upon their knowledge to reach the answer, having fully understood how they arrived at it. Studying mathematics (and finance) for over a decade, and helping others to excel in the subject along the way, has taught me that confidence and enjoyment are key; and confidence and enjoyment are exactly what I instill in each of my students.

Personal Description:
As a friendly and very patient maths educator who spends most of my working time tutoring at home, I would love to be of help to anyone who perhaps needs a confidence boost, guidance on a particular topic or even intensive revision sessions for an upcoming exam.

I also visit schools throughout the UK to deliver fun maths workshops, therefore I am DBS-registered, and have obtained a PGCE as well as a Masters degree in Education Management. I also help out with the media when asked for my views on topical mathematical news stories in Wales, mostly appearing on the radio.

Teaching Experience:

Having taught maths to all ages and abilities for 30 years (from KS1 children to adult education in the FE sector), I am an experienced and qualified maths specialist available to tutor students up to GCSE standard.

As well as GCSE itself, tuition is offered in many mathematical areas, including confidence-building in arithmetic techniques, college and university entrance tests, numeracy support for adult learners and maths/stats revision for non-mathematicians at university.

Tutoring Approach:

Please feel free to get in touch should you need any help or support, even with things you may think are too basic. This can often make all the difference.

As well as using my own materials, resources from other educators and past papers like many other tutors, I utilise a range of board games, card games & puzzles at times to help with the learning process, which children absolutely love. It takes the pressure off at times and they learn processes without realising it, building confidence at the same time.

Personal Description:
I am a first year Medical Engineering Masters student and have a passion for sharing my knowledge. My university course requires knowledge of mathematics, physics, electronics and biology. However I fear that any knowledge I have obtained in the past in other subjects (such as chemistry, my favourite subject at college) would fade away. I am also very enthusiastic about teaching and believe I can bring out the best in students. Therefore I am offering my tutoring services to any student that requires that extra push in any of the subjects listed. This is the first real approach I have taken in tutoring professionally, although I have had some tutoring experience (see below). My availability for tutoring is open at the moment as I am on break from University, however after that my time may be limited weekends and weekday evenings so please bear that in mind. I am also willing to do online tutoring through Skype. A mix of online and in-person tutoring is also available. I would prefer to hold a first session in a library/other location and then move on to in-home tuition although I do realise this is not always possible (especially with younger students).

Teaching Experience:

- Tutored Mathematics to a GCSE student after school in my free time.
- Tutored fellow peers in A-Level Psychology during lunch breaks and provided my quality revision notes as requested by teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

I have studied A-levels and GCSEs quite recently so I completely understand the pressures of not being able to understand a concept and not getting questions right. I believe that a student can find their passion for a subject if they are taught it the correct way.

My approach to tutoring involves covering topics that the student does not understand and may not be comfortable with. With the first session or before it, I would like to establish areas like this and then move on from there. As each session takes place, the student and I will be building up knowledge so that the concepts of the subject are well understood. From there we will practice exam questions, complete worksheets and create revision material. I will also be providing work to be done outside the sessions if it is deemed necessary.

I am willing to also teach subjects from scratch if that is the approach you would like me to take as I am familiar with the necessary concepts.

I understand some students may be shy or afraid to ask questions, so my goal if that is the case is to be patient and build an environment where this can be done both with myself and in the classroom.

Personal Description:
Education PhD student - can capably and confidently meet the educational needs of any potential student. Previous students have jumped several grade boundaries, obtained A*'s and attended their first choice university.

I work enthusiastically and effectively with students at all stages of their educational journey across a wide range of subjects. I have tutored students at primary, secondary schools, and sixth forms as well as lecturing on MA programmes and mentoring at a high security youth prison. I also help with university admissions and personal statements.

Teaching Experience:

Guest Lecturer, Durham University March 2016
Invited to deliver workshops to MA students on the Research Methods in Education module at Durham University. Workshops were focused on the use of experimental and quasi-experimental design in Educational research.

Responsibilities included:
Working in partnership with colleagues including administrative staff, lecturers, and the module convener to generate targets to direct student learning.
Selecting session content and setting objectives for learning, designing lecture slides and producing resources to be used within workshops.
Responding to student queries, providing feedback on assignments and suggesting reading materials.
Facilitating discussion groups and encouraging participation and engagement through role play and team problem-solving tasks.

One-to-One Tutor October 2014 - Present
Volunteer tutor preparing sixth-form students to undertake final exams and transition into higher education or the work place.

Responsibilities included:
Liaising with parents, schools, and individual students to generate targets to direct learning.
Formulating schemes of work to support students' specific needs - this includes timetabling sessions, outlining session content and objectives, and producing any resources to be used within the session. This results in a highly personalised curriculum for each individual student.
Regular evaluation and assessment of both student progress and satisfaction to further streamline curricula to suit student needs and improve quality of delivery.
Marking assignments and grading exam papers, providing extensive written feedback and reports to parents and students.
Creating interactive presentations, charts, graphs and infographics to illustrate and aid understanding of difficult concepts.

After-School Club Programme Co-ordinator October 2011 - July 2016
Programme co-ordinator for after-school Nature and Gardening Club at All Saints Primary School in Gilesgate and Arts & Crafts Club at St. Patrick's School, Langley Moor.

Responsibilities included:
Devising own teaching methods, style and approach whilst independently delivering lessons to children in both Infant and Junior year groups.
Designing detailed lesson plans for every session over entirety of academic year.
Allocating volunteers to classes in need of Teaching Assistants. This required matching volunteers and teachers through interviews and a rigorous application process alongside timetabling and organising transport.

This is an abbreviated list of positions held over the last twelve months.

In addition to these, I have learnt how to find new, interesting ways of presenting information whilst working alongside the Education Department at the Welsh National Museum. These techniques were put to good use advising staff at Butetown History and Art Centre how to make exhibitions more accessible to the public.

Furthermore, I also worked alongside adults and young people with a range of special needs as a volunteer with the 'Durham Otters' swimming club, mentored at Hassockfield Youth Prison and delivered sex education lessons in secondary schools and sixth forms with Sexpression:UK. This has helped me to mature in my ability to talk, and more importantly relate to, young people from all backgrounds.

Tutoring Approach:

Above all I strive for lessons to be interesting and engaging.

I try to quickly understand students' needs to put them at ease and make sure they are not over or underworked. I'm friendly, always have a smile on my face and as a student myself, I empathise with the struggles of studentship.

My objective as an educator is to harness students' existing knowledge of popular culture to bridge the gap between the complex abstractions they encounter within academia and how these manifest in everyday life. I make classes interactive by drawing on student experience and selecting content considering the interconnection between the subject matter discussed in lessons and current news or debates on social issues.
