Teaching Experience:

I started teaching whilst living in Asia. I taught English for over 5 years and predominantly through tutoring. I then began teaching I.B Biology at British International school in Shanghai for two years. I have now been teaching in the UK for 4 years and have taught OCR, AQA and Edexcel GCSE science as well as OCR AS/A2 Biology.

Tutoring Approach:

I consider myself to be extremely friendly and personable and think its very important to make sessions fun and enjoyable whilst really pushing students to achieve above and beyond their expected grades. Developing a strong bond with the students so that they are comfortable is extremely important to me. However, I also feel that students must be able to feel that they are making progress at school. As such I like to make sure that I am teaching on top of what they are learning at school. I proactively teach materials before they are taught at school so they are more able to engage and excel in the classroom. I also like to help prep students for exams by going over past papers together and building exam techniques/strategies. Teaching Experience:

I have taught TEFL in language schools for two years, and have given private tuition in English and in Music for 9 years for all levels of learners. I have taught English at all levels from Beginner to Advanced, plus Business English and conversation classes. I am a creative artist, actor and educator, inspired by performance art in all its forms. I am fortunate to work doing what I love. I attended a Grammar School, RGS Worcester, a top school with high expectations. I excelled in this environment, always achieving the best academic results. I am now, as I was then, a high achiever.

I am a keen writer and maker of puppets, I find nothing more relaxing than long immersive forays into the imagination.

I am a keen martial artist, stage fighter, and fencer. I'm a big lover of all things outdoors, the wilder, the better.

As an avid reader I am particularly drawn to heroic fantasy and sprawling worlds, beguiling first person narratives, comparative religious and spiritual studies, psychology, and history.

Teaching Experience:

My first degree from The University of Bristol nudged me in the direction of teaching. I worked for 6 years as a secondary school teacher, delivering Drama and English lessons, including GCSE and A level, from year 7- year 13. I offered extra-curricular tutorials to students to help them achieve their desired results. This included university entrance master classes.

During my tenure at the second school I worked at my lessons were recorded by Edexcel Examination Board as an exemplar of excellent practice.

As a teacher my services were sought by 'feeder' primary schools and I started leading workshops at primary level. While doing this I became aware of the need for more educational provision in non-formal settings. I eventually went part-time at schools, and began working with, and for, local councils to provide literacy workshops for young people who felt disenfranchised by traditional educational settings. My work with Redditch Borough Council as Outreach officer earned me an 'Outstanding personal Achievement Award'.

Since turning my attention to acting I have maintained strong links with my educational roots, I still work in schools, community centres, universities, as tutor, facilitator and lecturer. I will always think of myself as an educator, my most satisfying professional moments involve inspiring others, and these moments always occur when teaching and tutoring.

I am in my ninth year as a qualified teacher and have worked within education of young people, particularly those with special needs, since I was 16.
I worked within a nursery over a 3year period, covering sickness and holiday relief, caring for children from all ages between 6months-5 years.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning should be enjoyable, interesting and applicable to real-life. Education lacking these elements will not, in my mind, endear itself to young people.

I will not accept laziness but I will accept honesty - if a student finds something difficult, they know to tell me in order that I may assist them and overcome that particular hurdle.
When I am tutoring at GCSE and adult level, I also endeavour to make the sessions motivating, but ensure they are more student-lead and will scaffold the sessions but find tutees have more success when they are able to be guided rather than dictated to.

Personal Description:
Thank you for reading my profile. I currently lecture at the University of Salford. I am a visiting lecturer at the University of Cambridge and an external examiner at the University of Liverpool .I am also an assessor for OCR Biology GCSE/A Level and for academics undergoing their teaching qualifications. In 2015 I was nominated by my students for best teacher and best postgraduate supervisor and in 2016 I was nominated again for best teacher. I offer tuition at my home and some on line support. I have twenty years of experience of teaching. I began working as a private tutor seven years ago. This role gives me the freedom to get to know students on an individual basis and adapt to suit their needs and offers an incredible amount of job satisfaction. Please note however that if you are a student at the University of Salford I will be unable to offer private tuition due to a conflict of interest.
In 2015 I was invited to guest lecture and take on the role of medical director of studies at Cambridge, lecturing to medical students at Corpus Christi College. A post to which I shall return in 2016 I completed my PhD in rheumatology in 2009 at the University of Central Lancashire. Privately I mainly teach Biology, science, PE and study skills.I am also able to assist with other health related topics.
Prior to working within education I was a Chartered Physiotherapist within the NHS for 13 years at hospitals in my local area, achieving Senior I grade. During this time I assumed the role of Clinical Educator for students of Physiotherapy thus beginning my teaching career. While working within the NHS I was also the Physiotherapist to the England Women's football team for three years. This was a unique and memorable experience and I was immensely proud to represent my country, working with such talented individuals both at home and during tours of countries including France, Denmark, Italy, Iceland, Bulgaria, and the Soviet Union. I am an internationally published author, having written and edited eight textbooks which have been translated into eleven languages, covering subjects as diverse as anatomy, assignment writing, study skills and health studies. I have been an external examiner at the Universities of East London, and Bradford for postgraduate study and currently the University of Liverpool on their undergraduate physiotherapy programme . This role includes monitoring marking quality, exam board actions ,modifications to syllabus and teaching and learning consultancy.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring privately for several years now. I began teaching in a professional capacity whilst working in a hospital environment where I became a Clinical Educator for undergraduate Physiotherapy students from Universities in the region. This role involved teaching and training undergraduate students within hospitals. Eventually my enthusiasm for teaching overtook that of my day job and I began teaching at Salford University on a part time basis, becoming a full time member of staff within the School of Health Sciences in 1996. I am the longest serving member of staff in the department and enjoy my job, and the interaction with students, as much now as when I first began teaching. Please note that if you are a student at the University of Salford I will be unable to offer private tuition due to a conflict of interest.

Teaching at a university entails a range of teaching methods including lecturing to hundreds of students, small and large group seminar-based sessions and a mix of theory and practical skills. Since 1998 I have been the Year One tutor which involves a pastoral element as many students are having their first experience of independence away from friends and family.

As a private tutor both in my own home and in the tutees home I mainly focus on one to one tuition which I find hugely rewarding as I am able to dedicate unwavering attention to the tutee and their chosen subjects. I have experience of teaching students from diverse backgrounds and ranging in age from 14 years to 50 years.

In 2009 I won the first ever Teaching Excellence Award at Salford University, and the following year was nominated for the Times Educational Innovative Teacher Award - both nominated by my students, a fact of which I am extremely proud.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a friendly and informal approach to teaching as I believe a relaxed environment is most conducive to learning regardless of subject or age, however i am aware that privvate tuition is a serious commitment and it is very important that there is a clear structure to the sessions. I am familiar with the syllabus for OCR, AQA and EDEXCEL for G.C.S.E., A level and degree. The first session will include an informal discussion with parents/tutee to gain an understanding of the tutees requirements and to explain my role and how I can aid learning.
The structure of the sessions are largely dictated by the tutee, the subjects they wish to focus on and their preferred learning style and this can be discussed at the first session. As the student develops, the structure can be adapted in line with this.


Additional Information

While I prefer to teach in my own home under certain circumstances I may be able to travel to the student. This will be subject to the inclusion of travelling costs in addition to the tuition fee. This will be undertaken by prior arrangement; please indicate your requirements on initial contact.

I am a 30 year old female graduate from the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow. I have a joint Honours degree in French and Italian (language and studies) for which I gained a 2:1. I am currently working in the Modern Languages department of St Ninian's High School in East arendreeshire. I spent a year abroad in Lyon, France, during my fourth year of university, where I worked as an English Language Assistant in two high schools. Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified French & Italian teacher in secondary education and have acquired a great amount of experience throughout my different posts and have gained great confidence in teaching the new National 4 and 5 qualifications. I also have experience teaching the Higher Course in both languages. During my fourth year of University, I worked in two high schools in Lyon, France as an English language assistant, teaching children, teenagers and young adults, from the age of nine to twenty three. I was responsible for helping them with all aspects of the language, and developing their reading, writing, listening and verbal skills by preparing and working on a number of different activities. I also taught them about British culture, history and lifestyles so as to help develop their knowledge of Britain, particularly Scotland, in general. I ensured that I worked differently with different individuals, depending on their style of learning and I took a different approach accordingly. I aimed to make my style of teaching both informative and fun so that they enjoyed learning and I believe this is something I am always successful in as many tutees I have worked with have commented on my positive and helpful way of teaching.

In my final year of high school I was involved in the 'Peer Education' programme whereby I went into five different French and Italian classes and helped those who were experiencing difficulties with the subjects. I helped particularly with grammar issues as these seemed to pose the most problems for pupils and I also helped them prepare for upcoming speaking and writing tests. I also helped pupils to understand easier ways of making the most of their French or Italian dictionary and taught them creative and simple of ways of tackling listening and reading tests. Moreover, I worked on a one to one basis with a Higher grade pupil who was experiencing problems with French and we explored different ways of making difficult areas that much easier. I was also part of the 'Paired Reading' programme where I worked with pupils aged eleven to fifteen who experienced reading difficulties. I met with three pupils for one hour each week, on an individual basis, and we would work on techniques for improving their reading ability and they would read to me. These two programmes were very gratifying, especially when I witnessed a pupil's confidence grow as their reading skills improved.

I have also tutored two family friends, both in French and Italian, with a great focus on exam preparation and the skills that they needed to do well on class tests. I also help my niece and nephew with their French, focusing greatly on the areas they find the most difficult.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a different approach to my tutoring depending on the individual I am working with. On my first session with my tutee I will find out the areas that they are experiencing the most difficulty in, and what their strengths and weaknesses are, as this will help me to develop an effective and helpful way of teaching. I prepare various worksheets, practice tests and activities which are interactive and will allow for valuable learning. I will ask the tutee what their preferred way of learning is and look at ways in which they successfully learn in other subjects and try to incorporate this in to my way of teaching. I encourage tutees to ask questions wherever necessary and to state if they wish me to try a different approach. I believe communication is the key to successful learning and I pride myself on my friendly and approachable nature and my ability to achieve results in my tuition. On the whole, I am aware that my way of teaching has to be of benefit to the tutee so I will tailor my approach to suit their wants and needs.

I am a graduate of chemistry with business management from Queen Mary: University of London. I also hold the AAT professional accountancy qualification and CIMA Management Accountant. Personal Description:
In all these years, I have tried to transfer my knowledge to everybody I had sat down to help with his/her economics and business exams (especially accounting and finance). I have provided, and still do when necessary, tuition to members of the family and friends.
Even in College, I have assisted friends in their maths and accounting courses, aiming at helping them understand the methodology that is behind numbers.
I have high confidence in myself that I can succeed in a private teaching/tutoring role. I have always admired young people's minds, and I believe that a teacher's responsibility is to help them both shape them and enrich them within the frame of each individual's personality.

Teaching Experience:

My current position is Lecturer in Finance in one of the leading private business schools in the UK. I am focusing in those areas that I have had a 17 year working experience. Working in the real business world for all these years is an asset for me, which will definitely help me transfer the knowledge I have gained, to younger people.
I have also been recently appointed by a secondary school, as Accounting tutor for a group of students to assist and prepare them for their A2 Accounting exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I have always believed that the best approach to tutoring is the pen and paper approach. That is, I find necessary for a student to practice as much as possible through exercises and problem solving. And as ancient Greeks once said: "Reviewing is the mother of knowledge".

Personal Description:
Nice to meet you! I'm Rebecca; I'm 27 years old and graduated from Bangor University with a BSc in Psychology with Clinical and Health Psychology. After university I spent a year as a specialist support worker for adults with autism and autistic traits. With my psychology degree and experience I am more than happy to cater for students that might need a bit of extra help, and have experience teaching students with Aspergers, Personality Disorder, and depression.

Following uni, I spent nearly 2 years teaching English as a foreign language in Japan. Whilst in Japan, I also learnt how to speak conversational Japanese, and can also read and write hiragana, katakana, and first-grade level kanji. I now tutor English and Japanese full time, and have registered my own language services company.

To better understand what is needed for GCSE Japanese, I took my GCSE in 2016 achieving an A*, and plan to take N4 in the Japanese Proficiency test next year. I am happy to help students work towards their GCSE or N5 level Japanese, and I am constantly training to improve my students learning experience.

I welcome any students with special needs; I have vast experience in the Psychological field and work well with anyone who needs that little bit of extra help and attention! I also work great with kids who need help boosting their English and Maths at school- in the last year one of my 5-year-old student's grades have gone from below average to excellent in their school report.

I'm currently teaching in the Northamptonshire area, and have a classroom set up in my home where I do most of my teaching from.

Please note: I am currently fully booked every evening, so I can only offer morning/ early afternoon lessons at the moment.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience includes the 2 years I spent teaching English as a foreign language in Japan, where I designed the yearly teaching schedules, lesson plans, and then taught the lessons. My students were from the age of 3 to 65, so I have experience in teaching all ages. Whilst in Japan I also taught beginner's Japanese to foreigners living in my local area.

Since returning to England in 2013 I've been tutoring English and Japanese full time. I took my GCSE Japanese in 2016 achieving an A*, and plan to take N4 of the Japanese proficiency test next year. I have also been teaching one of my younger students English, Math, and other related subjects required for primary school. I currently have more than 20 students learning Japanese 1-to-1 and relish the challenges and individuality between each new student.

At university I volunteered for several groups including an activity group for disadvantaged children, assisting in secondary school classrooms, volunteering at the local mental health unit and volunteering as a charity shop assistant.

Prior to this, I often tutored my younger sister (who has Asperger's Syndrome) and helped her to understand her school work. I have also clocked up countless hours of babysitting for parents around the local area.

Tutoring Approach:

For teaching English as a foreign language, or when teaching Japanese, I believe a fun, active approach is the most effective. A short amount of time is spent drilling sentences and words; but then these new words and phrases should be used in role plays, games, or challenges to make the new vocabulary stick.

When teaching English, debates about the subject material cause important points to be remembered, help students to structure their arguments more clearly, and let students consider what the most important points are and consider counter arguments. Games for younger children and a variety of different activities to help enforce new vocabulary and sentences are also important.
