Personal Description:
Recently returned to the UK to live near my family after teaching abroad for many years. I have 2 teenagers who no longer need my constant attention. I enjoy speaking other languages and love teaching, especially one to one teaching, where I can focus all my attention on the individual.

Teaching Experience:

1976-1987 EFL teaching in the UK and abroad. 6th form, secondary and adult. Also some ESL and home teaching.

1988- 2008. Primary teaching 3-12 year olds. I am trained in Early Years teaching. For 9 years I was the English Language Support coordinator in a large international school. My responsibilities included assessing children's needs, planning and teaching English as an additional language throughout the Infant and Junior school, improving reading skills and helping train other staff in the above. I have regularly tutored individuals and small groups of children after school.
I have recently completed a course in "Big Writing" with Ros Wilson of Andrell Education, focusing on improving writing skills from KS1 to KS3

2009- present. Nursery teacher and part time Modern languages/ Supply teacher in KS2

Tutoring Approach:

Each person's needs are different and my first job is to develop a trusting relationship so that I can quickly assess the priorities. Building confidence in prior knowledge comes next. It's important to pace the lesson so that there is just enough pressure but no stress. I like to work on all 4 skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) whatever the goal of the class, and to that end use a variety of resources; books, cards, games, music, computer. I am a very good listener and have unlimited patience. I constantly make students aware of the progress they are making which builds confidence and speeds up learning. I set very high but reachable standards.

Personal Description:
Recently made the decision to take voluntary redundancy from Volvo Truck and Bus where I had been employed both in accounts and as P A to the MD for 26 years. I wish to concentrate on teaching languages which I enjoy so much.

I have a 21 year-old daughter living at home with me while studying medicine at Glasgow University.

Teaching Experience:

I have a degree in French and German and have been tutoring both children and adults for many years, although my enthusiasm has never waned.
I attended a TEFL course two years ago and am still improving those skills through an on-line course. I find this very easy and enjoyable as I come from the generation who were thoroughly taught correct English grammar and spelling.

All my pupils who take exams achieve excellent grades and I can supply references to testify to this.
Languages are fun!

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a thorough method of learning languages - not the 'phrase-book style' fashionable for some years. As much speaking practice as possible is essential.

Having so many years' experience, I have many practice papers and CD's for school exams and excellent courses for adults.

Any parents considering additional help in the lead-up to exams should try to start this as early as possible. I may be expert and dedicated but I don't have a magic wand to work miracles over the last couple of weeks before an exam!

Personal Description:
Qualified and experienced German tutor for 13 years working mainly with adults who need German for business and personal reasons.

Teaching Experience:

Have been teaching German as foreign language for 5 years in South Africa as part of a naval project in collaboration with the Bundeswehr. Furthermore have been tutoring individuals for the past 13 years (from child carers to tour operators). Have upgraded my skills with the Goethe Institute in Cape Town and also attended some teaching seminars of which one was with the German Defense Force at their language school in Cologne. Have a degree in languages as well as a national diploma in German teaching didactic.

Tutoring Approach:

I think that communication is a priority and that a course should be customized according to the specific client's need. I believe that learning a language should be fun and that even adults learn easier with games and topics that they are interested in. The grammar and writing skills should be integrated in the learning process without boring the learner. The other important aspect is to introduce German culture and and Germany to the client in order to get bigger picture of language and its context.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate from the University of Dundee and have an MA degree in Politics and Public Policy. Alongside my degree, I have several years' experience of tutoring and have achieved excellent results for all my students.

I aspire to get into classroom teaching, specialising in History and hope to begin my PGCE training course in September. As such, I am eager to build on my previous tutoring experience (see further details below) and gain further experience with students of all ages and abilities. I relish a challenge and really enjoy working with students one-on-one.

Teaching Experience:

I began tutoring in summer 2012 by tutoring my friend's sister for her English Language, English Literature and History GCSEs; she went on to attain 'A' grades in all subjects. She then recommended my services to several of her classmates and, under my tutoring, three of her classmates who I was tutoring for the same subjects also went on to attain 'A' grades.

I am confident in teaching Politics at A Level, as it is what my undergraduate degree focused on and also having had experience of working in politics during the last general election, I feel I have a comprehensive knowledge of current affairs that is an asset in the classroom.

I also have three younger siblings, aged two, 13 and 17 and regularly assist the older two with their school work.

Tutoring Approach:

Having been tutoring for nearly four years now, I feel very confident in my ability to get the best out of any given student in my subjects and I know what each student is different and has different educational needs.

What I specialise in is exam technique; preparing the student for the type of question which they are likely to be asked in an examination and working closely with them to ensure that they can comfortably deal with anything that the exam throws at them; so there are no surprises on the day.

Having sat exactly the same exams myself (and being young enough to remember sitting the exams myself), I know exactly what is required of the student in order to get the very top grades, having been taught exam technique myself by my own teachers at school.

It is fair to say that my tutoring style is based, at least in part, on the style of the teachers who taught me all the way through my academic career, but particularly those who taught me at GCSE and A Level. I am now very keen to pass on the knowledge I was lucky enough to gain onto the next generation.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Kevin, a friendly and approachable full time Maths tutor with a patient and empathetic attitude.

I studied Maths at Uni after gaining 11 A grades at GCSE and 4 A grades at A level (Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry) and since then I`ve worked as both an Accountant and an Actuary.

I`m an intelligent guy with the ability to break things down to their simplest forms, but am also patient and a good listener with the ability to understand the way someone else thinks about a problem. I think its these qualities that combine to make me a natural tutor and time after time I`ve experienced that when people have a problem understanding something, its been me they`ve come to.

One of my recent reviews:

"My son was struggling with his AS level maths course having failed to keep up with the pace of new topics
in the Autumn term of 2012. Relatively late in the day before the exams in May 2013 we were fortunate
enough to get Kevin to help him and there was a complete transformation of his confidence and approach
to maths. Before Kevin's intervention my son had achieved U, D and E grades in various mock exams but
in test papers before the actual exams he was getting results right at the top of the grade spectrum. I cannot
recommend Kevin too highly for his technical expertise in the subject or for his organised and sympathetic
teaching approach which was essential in my son's case. Kevin brought my son order and confidence out of
confusion and despair"

Teaching Experience:

I`m experienced and happy to tutor at any level KS3, GCSE, AS and A-level, QTS Numeracy exam (in fact, adult learners in any field needing a maths/numeracy refresher).

I also tutor for business school and foundation year maths exams eg GMAT, NCUK IFY etc. (Please ask for rates for these exams).

Tutoring Approach:

Let me know what your aim is - whether it be to understand that topic/module you 'just cant get!', or to go through past papers, or to learn a whole course from start to finish, and between us we can agree the best approach for you, and prepare a plan of action to ensure you achieve your goals.

Personal Description:
I enjoy all aspects of English Literature, the research process and critical analysis. My most recent teaching has concentrated on sixteenth century texts, including Shakespeare's 'King Lear', 'Hamlet', 'Romeo and Juliet' and Webster's 'The White Devil.' I have also recently taught Oscar Wilde's novel 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' and Scott Fitzgerald's 'The Great Gatsby.'

Currently, I work as a note-taker for university undergraduates who have sight or hearing impairment or a specific learning disability. I enjoy this work immensely as I go along to support students in lectures and seminars in a diverse range of subjects including Philosophy, Psychology, Law and Sports Development which I find very interesting and rewarding.

Teaching Experience:

At a Sixth Form College, I have taught GCSE English (AQA Board); English Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2 (OCR Board); a Government unit on Public Services Level 3 (Edexcel) and Public Service Skills Level 2 (Edexcel).
I have also been a Personal Tutor for 16-19 age group at a Sixth Form College.

Tutoring Approach:

I set objectives, plan targets and evaluate progress and achievement. Reflection plays a key part in the teaching and learning experience. I am flexible and can adapt the learning programme to suit the learners' needs. I will also bring a great deal of enthusiasm to make the learning experience interesting and enjoyable.

Last year, tutees achieved excellent results; this was a result of the high standards adopted and expected of the student matched with lots of hard work.

Personal Description:
I am a twenty-seven year old student living in Tooting, London. I am an actor having completed a three-year diploma in professional acting from The Oxford School of Drama. Before this I gained a First Class BA (Hons) in English Literature and Drama from the University of Sheffield.

I have a real passion for education and feel I am perfectly placed to help students having just completed my actor training I know what constitutes good teaching.

Having a degree in English Literature and Drama means I would be confident to tutor in English Literature, English Language, Theatre Studies and Drama at A Level or below.

I can also direct speeches for drama school entry and advise on applications.

Teaching Experience:

I am experienced in teaching ages 7-19.

I have also run large group workshops with secondary and primary school children.

I have also studied teaching techniques used in museums and devised theatre projects to communicate exhibits to varying age ranges.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer that the best way to learn is by interaction. I am myself a creative learner, and thus my teaching takes a creative slant.

I am passionate about theatre and the power that human interaction has on learning so I embark on lively lessons designed to create enthusiasm for subjects - so students will not just see them as perfunctory nuisances. I am also incredibly logical and a rigorous planner, who can create realistic targets and see them come to fruition.

Personal Description:
I am a native Italian speaker, confident, enthusiastic and passionate about teaching. I have attended the TT 4 in Preparing to Teach in Lifelong Sector (PTTLS) and the diploma 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce. I also graduated in Arts (Italian Modern Studies) and completed my MA in Italian Language and Literature in 2008 at Pisa University.
By teaching in different countries, environments and working with people of all ages, I have acquired a board experience, which allows me to identify and address learners' needs and plan in order to get the best outcomes for them. Through the way I teach, I hope to show and motivate the students to learn and understand the history and the culture of my country because learning a foreign language is not just imparting rules of grammar.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experiences include working as key worker in the nursery and teaching Italian language for foreign adults and children in London. In Italy, for two years, I worked for an organisation which specialized in helping migrants (aged 17 to 50) to learn the language and as a personal tutor for a secondary school girl with dyslexia. I have also taught a variety of subjects (including Italian language, literature, history and Maths) to Primary, GCSE and A-level students for about 10 years.

Tutoring Approach:

Through my studies and experiences, I acquired a widen knowledge of contemporary teaching methods and approaches which contribute to plan, organise and deliver high standard lessons according to learner's level.
At the beginning, I usually carry out an assessment (oral and written) for ascertaining student's knowledge of the language and learning style. Then, I plan each lesson in advance and according to the student's needs. I always prepare handouts, worksheets or quizzes that help student to memorise the concepts and me to check her/his progress. I like to use different kinds of resources in order to create a more interactive and motivating lesson every time.

Personal Description:
My name is Michael and I teach private one to one drum kit lessons to people of all ages, in and around the Yorkshire area. I have been playing the drum kit for over 20 years and started playing at the early age of 11. Since then I have been in many bands and performed in many venues in and around the Yorkshire area.
After studying music at school in Scotland and forming my first band I soon found myself addicted to the drum kit. I decided I wanted to further my skills by getting private drum kit lessons which helped me gain my Standard Grade/GCSE and Higher Grade/A-Level in Music. I then furthered this by studying a BTEC in Popular Music at Huddersfield Technical College and a BA (Hons) in Popular Music at the University of Sheffield. I have also recently completed my PGCE in Life Long Learning at the University of Huddersfield and hold QTLS with IfL.

Teaching Experience:

I had my first teaching experience when I was 16 years old at a music workshop during the summer holidays where I was involved in teaching groups of people how to play the drum kit within a band setting. At the end of the workshops each group that had formed had to perform their songs to the public.

Since then I always had a desire to pursue my teaching and in 2006 I started teaching at Rhythm Inc Music Tuition in Barnsley. Initially, I only had a couple of students that I would teach in my spare time between my job and other commitments. However, more students started coming and having only started with a couple I soon had enough to become self-employed and put my all into my teaching.

In 2007 I started teaching at Take 2 Music Academy in Birdwell, Barnsley and at Rockem Music in Rotherham. I have taught at other private music schools and in local schools in the Yorkshire area. I also have experience delivering group workshops within both private and local schools.

Currently, in 2012 I opened my own teaching studio based in Wakefield, and continue to teach at Rhythm Inc Music Tuition in Barnsley, Take 2 Music Academy in Birdwell, Barnsley and at Rockem Music in Rotherham. I have recently completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Lifelong Learning and hold QTLS with IfL (Institute for Learning)

I am fully CRB and DBS checked and currently have a 100% pass rate for students sitting their graded exams.

Personal Description:
I have been a teacher for over ten years and have gained excellent results with students achieving 100% A*-C at GCSE and 88% A*-B. I have also attained 100% A*-C in my A-Level, teaching both Edexcel Philosophy of Religion and the AQA Philosophy Course.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in top Grammar schools for both boys and girls and in good comprehensive schools with students of a range of abilities. I have also taught special needs students who struggle to comprehend difficult concepts and have pushed high flying academics to attain the highest marks.

For the past seven years I have also taught adults at the Institute of Education 'How to teach Philosophy'.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to first identify what needs to be learned and to agree this with the student. Once this is agreed I will then form a flexible timetable for the student and to identify what we can work on lesson by lesson. I think it is important for a tutor to be open to any needs that arise during the lessons and although I think smart targets are vital, I also feel the tutor should adapt their lessons to suit the pupil.

Personal Description:
My name is Leon and I provide tuition in maths at all levels up to GCSE. My specialism is focusing on people who struggle with maths, including people with dyslexia, and getting them from grade predications of E and below to within reach of grade C in as little as 12 lessons.

In addition to meeting the requirements set by the national curriculum for Key Stage 1 to 3, the tuition I provide can be tailored for the following exams:

- SATs
- 11-plus school entry exams
- GCSE

Teaching Experience:

I have been involved in providing courses over the past 7 years for many individuals and organisations, which have included the NHS and Dundee City Council. My maths teaching is primarily focused on those who struggle with the subject, where I make use of the learning method I have created over 20 years to simplify the understanding of maths for visual and hands on learners.

My tuition is provided inline with the requirements of the national curriculum Key Stage 1,2 and 3, as well as to match the criteria of all major examination boards for GCSE including:

- AQA
- CEA
- Edexcel
- OCR
- WJEC

My achievements related to the teaching services I provide include:

- Regularly taking students from predicted GCSE maths grade of E and below to within reach of grade C in just 12 lessons.

- The maths learning resources I have developed contributing to winning an award, which was featured on BBC Radio Merseyside and in the Liverpool Echo.

Tutoring Approach:

The learning method I have developed for maths is highly suited to people who struggle with the subject, especially those who are affected by learning barriers such as dyslexia. Students make significant progress with my learning method because it is designed to match the thinking processes of people who are more hands on and visually oriented in their learning, allowing them to understand maths in a way that they can make sense of with minimal effort.

My revolutionary learning approach has been designed around each of the following criteria to make learning maths easier, efficient and relevant:

- Avoiding the introduction of new language.
- Allowing concepts to be learnt from pre-existing knowledge.
- Avoiding the need to remember specific maths formulas.

These criteria are supported by exclusive learning content that I have developed for my courses to match the thinking processes of people affected by difficulties in learning maths. This learning content is provided in the form of:

- Visual learning content for understand maths concepts without reading.
- Interactive tools to learn through experimentation and enquiry.

The learning method allows students to recall maths formulas and names used in maths using memory techniques that require minimal effort to learn - and most importantly remain in memory for future recall. My students using these memory techniques only need to be shown maths formulas and concepts once using my learning tools and content - they are then able to recall this information weeks later with minimal effort.

My learning tools can also be used to track progress made throughout the duration of my tuition, which you as a parent can also access via your computer, smartphone (including iPhone) or tablet such as iPad.

Personal Description:
I am a multilingual qualified teacher of Modern Greek language. I earned my Undergraduate degree from the Department of Greek at the University of Thrace with a specialization in Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology. My native languages are Greek and Russian and I speak English fluently. Feeling the need to take the next step in my life, I decided to continue my studies at the University of Glasgow so now I tutor on a part-time basis. Regarding my attributes, I would consider myself as a responsible, patient and driven person. I strongly believe that it is important to give your best and pay attention to detail. This is the reason why, I think, I have developed such a respectful relationship with my previous students - the deep and sincere commitment to my duties.

Teaching Experience:

For the past nine years, I have been tutoring students in their preparation for high school and entrance exams in modern and ancient Greek, Latin, writing and composition skills, literature and history. This experience has been extremely rewarding to me. I particularly enjoy the process of gradually building knowledge and skills in the mind of my students, but most of all the interaction and emotional contact with them. The most interesting and challenging experience I have had professionally was teaching Greek as a foreign language to Russian immigrants, course I taught in Russian. In this way, not only was I working as a teacher but also as a ''translator'' trying to convey all the meanings, the grammatical system and the syntactic structure from Russian to Greek, which was our ''target language''.

Tutoring Approach:

In order to go further with my tutoring approach, I successfully attended the Annual Training Program on Psychology of the Greek Public Academy, studying among other things Developmental and Child Psychology, Special Treatment, Psychology of Language, Thematic Blocs for Parents and Social Psychology. I have faith in the fact that every person is unique and special. This is the reason why I always try to adapt my teaching methods and communication to meet different needs and interests. Therefore, I emphasize student-centred and active teaching approaches to engage students in their learning, which should be a continuous and personalized process. Besides, building trusting and effective professional relationships with children, young people and adults is an essential part of my role.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying BSc Medical Biochemistry at university. I have just finished my second year and I am about to enter my third year. I am married. I have a very logical mind and capable of finding the solution to any problem that needs solving.

Teaching Experience:

I did tutor a fellow class student in A-level maths for a short period of time to improve his understanding of maths, especially pure maths. I also taught chemistry to university students in a university in Poland and was able to help about 70% to 80% of the whole year of first year medical students pass this subject. I provided them out of hours classes to help with certain difficult provided and even provided my own version of written revision notes to help prepare for the exam.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to help the student understand the topic by giving examples and showing solutions with in-depth explanations in simple terms so that the student can understand. I even give the student example questions to try out to make sure they understand the methods or factual knowledge.

Personal Description:
I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language now for some time. I am a fully qualified TEFL teacher with a Merit result.

My students tell me that I am patient, kind and I give lessons on a 1:1 basis to help ensure a focused time is spent.

I have an MSc with Merit and BSc (Hons) degrees so I am fully aware of how studying can be challenging.

Another set of lessons I give are those of homework support, revision planning, exam preparation and assignment writing.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for many many years and over the past year, I have been focussing especially on TEFL.

My students are mostly adults, some are already in work, some are medics (I am one myself) and some are new to this country.

As a practicing medic I am naturally CRB checked and I take safety very seriously.

Tutoring Approach:

My first approach is to listen to my students' needs and establish where their strong and weak points are.

I then create a lesson plan.

We arrange to meet either at my home or at my students' home - whichever is best.

Personal Description:
I am Cambridge graduate and A level and GCSE biology teacher who is looking to take on a few tutees. I have over 15 years teaching experience and was head of biology at my previous school.

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced A level biology tutor who has taught all of the examining board specifications. I have tutored students at all levels of ability and many of these have scored A s and gone on to Oxbridge or Russel group universities . Before becoming a teacher, I worked full time as a private tutor for 7 years which I enjoyed immensely. I have missed both the challenges and the emotional rewards of private tutoring and am now looking for students with whom I can work to help achieve their aspired grades in biology. Over the course of my teaching and tutoring I have build up a large resource of past papers, challenging and informative questions and many approaches to teaching difficult subjects. I also regularly work as an examiner on A level papers and so can offer extensive advice on exam technique and the best approaches to answering questions.

Tutoring Approach:

I am enthusiastic and patient and have been told that I offer a friendly and safe learning environment where students feel supported but also motivated and challenged to improve both their understanding and grades
