Teaching Experience:

I have been teacher of English and German languages in Ukraine. I was a private tutor of Russian language to foreign children/adults in Ukraine and UK.
I am working in the educational environment about 12 years. Being a teacher of MFL I had fulfilled different tasks and responsibilities: I was a course tutor, worked in the afterschool club and organised different out of school activities as well. My name is Leonor. I am from Spain and 38 years old.

I am a teacher of Spanish and teach standard, Castilian Spanish, the official language of modern Spain. I love my profession and find teaching more a pleasure than a job. I have discovered that teaching is a two way experience where the teacher often learns as much from the students as the students learn from the teacher. For me, teaching languages is a very rewarding experience. I am especially passionate about my native language, Spanish. I love not only the expressive beauty of the written Spanish, but the enchanting, musical sound and rhythm of spoken Spanish. Based on the Direct Method, I use a technique of teaching a foreign languages without reference to the students native language. This method of total immersion has been proven to be the most effective means of rapidly developing real language skills. This approach is both easy and satisfying. Student progress is quite rapid. Students progress at their own pace in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. Personal Description:
I am a mature lady (50yo) with a 1st Class Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree (B.Sc) from Birmingham University and a Postgraduate Management qualification from Cambridge University.

My own 'A' Levels were Biology, Maths and Physics with a particular focus on electronics. At University I studied Maths at degree level.

I am also trained in other areas such as photo-reading (speed reading), hypnotherapy and craniosacral therapy. I have worked with young people utilising various modalities to help them gain confidence and choose careers/subjects that bring out the best in them. I studied for a time in a Rudolph Steiner environment so I appreciate the value of alternative approaches to educating young people. I was also a member of the Academy Appeals panel for some time in Hereford (for the Steiner Academy there).

From 2009 to 2012 I worked in an Admin capacity for OFSTED travelling around Schools and Colleges up and down the SW of England. My particular area of responsibility was the safeguarding and protection of children.

In 2011 I attended an Introduction to Autism training with the HANDLE organisation as I increasingly meet young people struggling on the Autism spectrum so this topic is of particular interest to me. I would be able to help refer any child who needed more specialised care. Related to this I have also been studying Human Design which is an invaluable tool for understanding how unique we all are.

I am friendly, empathic and good with younger people. I endeavour to help bring out the best in them on all levels.

I have successfully tutored Maths and Physics to High School students whilst living abroad in Canada and back here in the UK where I have been based more lately.

I am a Cambridge graduate with over 25 years experience of teaching IT/Computing at secondary level. I am now semi-retired (since 2009), but was secondary school Head of Department in Information Technology with a reputation for commitment and dedication which has seen several of my pupils achieve the very top results in the country. I am married and have three grown-up children.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 25 years experience teaching ICT/Computing very successfully at secondary level. I have had three pupils achieve "top five" status (ie top five individual pupils, not merely top 5%) in the country at GCSE level - two for ICT and one for BCS. A very large majority of my pupils at GCSE level - in ICT and Business Communication Systems - have achieved grade A or A* - this from pupils of mixed abilities. Similarly a very large majority of my pupils at A-level Computing have gained grade A or B. Of my A-level pupils who have gone on to study Computing and related subjects at university, many have gained first class honours and some have been awarded "best in year" and "best overall" prizes at UCL and Imperial College.

Tutoring Approach:

I have the ability to communicate effectively to pupils of all abilities. I make a point of ensuring that pupils always have the understanding they need, and will keep working at a problem, tackling it in different ways as necessary, until I know that they have grasped it. Having worked in the IT industry before coming to teaching I am a very capable programmer, and so am able to teach this skill from a background of experience which many teachers - at least when I first set out in teaching - did not have. I also have many years of experience of different exam systems, and have been responsible for choosing which examining board's specification to follow for GCSE and A-level, and for choosing teaching and computing resources for use in school. I have greatly enjoyed encouraging the less able pupils, as well as challenging the more able ones, to achieve more than they perhaps felt possible.

I am a fully qualified Maths Teacher and have been teaching maths privately and in comprehensive schools fo over 25 years. I am a maths teacher at an 11 - 16 comprehensive school where I teach KS3, KS4 maths classes.
Part of my responsibility is to direct teaching and learning within my department, and to do this I monitor the constant changes and developments to do with the teaching and assessment of maths. This keeps me aware of all the changes to the format and style of the exam papers (the specifications have changed and there has been a major shift in the style and difficulty of the questions making them more functional and requiring additional skills in answering them, a fact that some non-qualified, non-up-to-date teachers may not be aware of!)
I have successfully tutored students through GCSEs at both higher and foundation levels and within both modular and linear settings and have experience with all the major exam boards (AQA, OCR, and Edexcel)

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in comprehensive schools for over 25 years and at all key stages. I am currently a maths teacher and a private maths tutor. I have over 25 years experience teaching privately and have an excellent, proven track record having always made improvements to my students' grades, sometimes from 'D' to A*.

Tutoring Approach:

I visit the student at their home for the lesson, which is usually one hour per week (but this arrangement can be flexible). I will perform an analysis to tailor the individual needs of the student. Once the student has a good understanding of the concepts, I teach methods of answering exam style questions, then move on to past exam papers giving them the skills and confidence to do well in the exam.
Following each lesson I like to have an informal chat with the student and family to give feedback on progress made.
I can also offer short booster lessons in order to bring the student 'up to speed' or to prepare for exams that may require only one or two hours.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach French in a prep school to children from Year 1 - Year 8 (Common Entrance Level) and greatly enjoy teaching this variety of age groups.

Before doing my PGCE, I taught English as a Foreign Language in Austria, Germany and France. During my time in France, I worked as a 'lectrice' teaching English as a foreign language to classes of university students in France (Poitiers and Lyon). I also gave private tuition at the same time, including working with children from 5 years old up to teenagers and adults.

On my Erasmus year, I was an au pair for two French children (5 and 8), I also babysat for 3 bilingual children (French and English) and organised an 'English club' for 5-8 year olds so I have lots of experience working with children and helping them learn a second language.

Tutoring Approach:

Knowing myself what it is like to learn a language and having been greatly inspired by teachers with a good sense of humour, I too am always positive, patient and creative when teaching. IMPORTANT NOTES

★ Tuition is carried out at Annabel's own venue. People learn more effectively outside of their home environment and also this enables Annabel to keep session costs down. All tutees are entitled to an introductory session (normally priced) before paying for a block of five or ten sessions. Online tuition is offered for those who cannot travel to the venue.

★ Hourly rates for secondary students increase if Annabel has to do extra preparation, or buy additional materials, and all KS3, GCSE and EFL students will be given an induction before a set price is given (this is never over 23 per hour for KS3 and 25 per hour for GCSE/EFL). EFL lessons cover those who are working to at least a 'Lower Elementary Level' and, unfortunately, Annabel is unable to offer English tuition to those who speak only single words, or no English. ​

During the weekends I work in retail which enables me to gain outstanding communication skills with people of all ages. For GCSES I achieved outstanding grades for all my 11 subjects. Furthermore at A-level I studied 5 subjects; English Lit, History, Law, Spanish and Sociology. I feel education is one of the most important and essential things in life therefore everyone ought to take advantage and increase their knowledge! Teaching Experience:

I enjoy teaching, so in 2010 I did voluntary work abroad in a third world country where I taught under privileged youngsters. It was an amazing experience and the satisfaction of knowing you've actually taught them something is beyond describable!

Hello! My name is Eva, and I would describe myself as a very warm, friendly, straight forward and patient person, with excellent communication skills. I have an incredibly strong academic record (A-Levels: English Literature-A*, Drama-A*and French-A) and a genuine love for reading, theatre, and music. I feel passionate about bringing success and confidence to those I teach, and I aim to inspire my pupils to have a real interest for the subject!

Teaching Experience:

I have regularly helped younger siblings with English homework, and given them the confidence to become braver and more vocal in the classroom. I am able to clearly explain exam and revision technique - which is often the key to improving grades.
I have previously set up a school drama club, and have led games and prepared lessons for groups of children. I enjoyed the challenge and process of this hugely, and know from verbal feedback that they did too! I hugely value the time I spent with these students and their inquisitive minds. As a result of my commitment to this club I was awarded the school's Eunice Hobbs prize for Initiative.
During my degree I was given the role as music teacher, singing teacher and pianist for one of the productions that was being put on. I enjoyed this hugely, and found the work to be incredibly satisfying. The group was made up of university students who had a huge range of musical abilities, and I feel that I was able to attend to each individual's needs by giving clear explanations and ways to think about music.

I graduated from Guildhall School of Music & Drama with a First Class Honours Degree, and feel that this is a wonderful foundation for tutoring. I feel passionate about helping pupils with Drama, English, or Music, and believe that I would be able to give excellent tutoring lessons. I feel very confident in one-to-one teaching scenarios, and believe I am sensitive to an individual's needs. I do not believe in "one size fits all", and am a great fan of finding out the right way and approach for everyone. Teaching Experience:

I have worked (and mostly taught) in many different countries so far, which has been very profitable for my teaching practice.
I began as a French language assistant in 2006-2007 in a secondary school in South London.
Two years later, during my MA in Montpellier, I became a tutor at the department of English of my home university.
I went to the US in late 2009 to be a French language instructor at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. I taught a class of 20 beginners (aged 18 to 25) on a daily basis, which was extremely motivating. A few months later, I crossed the border and offered one-to-one tuition in Montreal, Canada.
In London since 2010, I achieved the status of Associate Practitioner delivered by the Higher Education Academy in February 2014. This qualification is in line with the UKPSF standards for teaching and supporting learning in higher education.
I am now teaching at Goldsmiths on the seminar 'Approaches to Text' (Department of English).

Tutoring Approach:

The teaching I offer is tailored to your specific needs. I try to relate to your own interest to facilitate the learning process. My teaching method is fundamentally active: we will work towards the goal that you will have determined beforehand through a constant engagement with the language on your part. Teaching Experience:

Taught lower secondary school students in relief classes when teachers were away on leave as a senior prefect. Also mentored fellow peers before A-Level examinations and conducted group study sessions to create a sense of equal level while leading the group study session with topics they did not understand.

Tutoring Approach:

In my GCSE Equivalent examinations (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia), I have been tutored over Skype for my personal tutor left for a different state. Among peers, relatives and friends, this was a new thing and wondered how it would have worked. I had the experience of learning Physics and Additional Mathematics through voice and video call conducted twice a week where my tutor shared questions and solutions while intently listening to my thought processes as I attempted to carry out solving the problems. Before finally seeking tutoring, I was averaging a C for Additional Maths and a B for Physics. I found this method very helpful and managed to score As in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and Physics in the final paper. This is a way I hope to implement when teaching over the internet.

I am a native Arabic language tutor with over 20 years' experience teaching Arabic from absolute beginners to GCSE level in UK Colleges. I teach adults and children in person and through Skype.

I teach Arabic (Modern / Classical) from complete beginners level, all the way to an advanced level, for both adults and children. Students learn all aspects of the language: reading, writing and speaking (general communication). I apply modern teaching techniques, which make the learning process appealing and enjoyable at each lesson.

Teaching Experience:

I have a huge wealth of experience in teaching Arabic to Adults and Children in the UK over a period of nearly 25 years. I started teaching Arabic to children privately (individually and in small groups) in the UK since 1992. I then extended my offering, by teaching adults in one of the Adult Community Colleges in the North of England. I then moved to London, and taught two courses of Arabic at Brent Adult Education Services from 1999 to 2001. During that period, I also completed my basic teaching training at Stanmore College in1999.
I then moved to Sussex and restarted in 2008 my Arabic teaching at Sussex Adult Education Services. I continue to teach there until now, as I am the only Arabic Language Tutor at college. Besides that, I kept my private teaching to adults and children, either in person or through Skype.
My wealth of experience in teaching Arabic is manifested by the following:
1) I use a wide range and varied teaching materials: books; dialogues; MP3 sound files; card games; CDs; computer games; videos; and worksheets. All of these are at different levels - from absolute beginners to advanced learners. I have created and developed some of these materials, while I have carefully selected the others to suit my teaching at different levels.
2) I plan and develop suitable materials to teach individual students, according to their abilities and understanding. I don't just follow one or two text books, or a computer program to teach the language. I create a session plan for each individual lesson, and when I teach a small group of students, I use suitable differentiation methods to cover the different needs of the students. For example, I currently teach two young children (brothers) at different ages and one of them has a disability, so my teaching materials are different to suit each of them, in order to keep both of them enjoy and benefit from the lessons.
3) Teaching students with different abilities and backgrounds, as well as disabled students. For example, I taught a partially blind adult student, as part of a large group, and then individually. She enjoyed the lessons and continued learning Arabic. My students are at different ages; different professions; different backgrounds; and with different objectives to learn Arabic. I currently teach young children under 10 years old; a teenager at GCSE level; several male and female adults (different professions); and a retired lady. This is in addition to my teaching at college.
4) I also teach at different levels. For beginners, I teach them the Arabic letters (pronunciation and writing) and communication skills in different day-to-day topics such as buying food and asking for directions. For the more advanced adult learners, I prepare them to be able to read, listen and understand the news in Arabic as well as reading stories, and debating topics. This gives them a good foundation if they want to work in Arabic speaking countries; work with NGOs where Arabic is required; and conducting business in the Arab world.
5) As a College Tutor, I have gone through several inspections / observations of my teaching. I used the feedback from these inspections to improve my teaching methods, style and materials. The feedback from my last observation session (in October 2016) was excellent, and I got the highest grade for a teaching session. The inspection report was full of positive feedback statements, such as:

"The tutor has a very high level of subject knowledge and communicated this in a calm and reassuring manner throughout. There was good rapport between the tutor and students which created a very supportive environment";

"Delivery methods were varied and included tutor presentation, use of sound files, handouts, speaking practice with the tutor, pair-work and some students using ICT resources. Tutor spoke clearly and utilised facial expression to good effect to demonstrate subtle differences in long and short vowel sounds. The pace appeared to be appropriate to all and differentiated learning activities enabled students to progress at their own pace. There were frequent opportunities for repetition. Handouts were either dual language (English / Arabic) or dual script (Arabic script / Latin alphabet script)";

"A range of assessment methods were in evidence including Q&A, quiz sheets and individual conversation between student and tutor in target language. Positive verbal feedback was given by the tutor throughout the session.
The tutor was well aware of the differing starting points of the students and the tutor had devised an excellent range of individual activities concerning Arabic to meet the needs of each learner. (One had matching cards, 2 played snakes and ladders, one had activity on iPad and one an activity on the computer.)";

"All learners were confident to speak in target language during Q and A sessions";

"Very clear differentiation was evident as the range of students was quite wide including absolute beginners alongside at least one student who had some previous knowledge to the extent that he could read/recognise written Arabic".

Tutoring Approach:

I teach at my home in Haywards heath but can also travel to the student's home in Sussex and London (travel expenses to be discussed). I also teach via Skype, and have a good experience with this method (I taught last year an IGCSE student in the Middle East, and currently teach GCSE to two young persons, all via Skype). I usually offer a free initial 10 to 15 minute trial session for assessment purposes and to make sure the student is happy with teaching via Skype.

Thanks for viewing my profile. I'm Jade, a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. I have language and teaching qualifications from China and the UK; and have more than 12 years experience of language teaching in both countries. Teaching Experience:

I have provided tuition in Mandarin Chinese to many native English speakers since I moved to the UK in 2014. My learners have been mostly adults and from various backgrounds, but also children and teenagers. They have included those learning for professional or academic reasons, and those simply interested in Chinese language and culture. Several have been having regular weekly or twice-weekly lessons with me for more than a year.
I have gained experience of the British educational system and teaching methods through acting as a volunteer teaching assistant in a college with modern language expertise. I have also studied for an Education and Training Award. Insights gained from this inform the approaches to teaching that I adopt.
In China, I worked at two language training schools in Harbin over a three-year period, and then I moved to Beijing. Here I taught children and teenagers for a year, and then for the next five years worked in a company that provided language training and IESOL tests to adults. I am now able to draw from my teaching experience in both countries when providing tuition in Mandarin.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my teaching to satisfy the individual needs of learners. This involves taking account of their reasons for learning Mandarin and their aspirations, and the learning styles that work best for them. Rather than stick rigidly to a standard course, I will vary the approaches to maintain interest and help with the learning process. Techniques can include question and answer sessions, use of flashcards, role-play, games, presentations, audio-visual materials and handouts.

Personal Description:
I am currently an engineering undergraduate at Warwick University (entering second year on October). Having completed A Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Economics and achieving 4 As in these testing subjects, I believe I am equipped to teach these subjects at A level and maths and physics at GCSE, after achieving A* in both subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I tutored my niece for the January 2017 iGCSE maths exam, mainly because she did not have a good teacher. With my help, she obtained an A*. I also tutored her for her additional maths and physics iGCSE, which she took in July 2017

Tutoring Approach:

I like to go through the whole course so the students are completely prepared for the exam. In addition, if there is time, I like to explain some concepts by going beyond the course (especially maths) so that the student is able to fully grasp these concepts. I inform them of mistakes that may be common with my peers when doing the exams, and as a result they are prepared for their exams. I also tend to focus on any topics that the student feels that they particularly struggle on, and provide them with plenty of practice questions thus ensuring the exam technique is correct.

Highly skilled Lead Guitarist with extensive experience as a performer, teacher and composer.

Teaching Experience:

One years experience, teaching 13 different students, with great success. Currently two of my students have joined bands and are proficiently good lead guitarists.

Tutoring Approach:

My philosophy is to make learning fun, music is a joy to the heart and soul and is a creative subject.
I'ts easy to get bogged down by the technicalities and theoretical knowledge,
however music should first and foremost, always be fun.
Learn the songs you love, while also retaining theory and building technical skills effortlessly.
I bring a teaching style that is:
Patient, understanding as well as caring, bringing a teaching style that is friendly and warm, and can adapt to suit student needs.
