Personal Description:
Hello. My name is Dr. Zara and I tutor students in the age group 13-18. I hold a Ph.D. in medical biochemistry and a PGCHE from the University of Kent. I am currently working at the University of Bristol.

I specialise in teaching Chemistry and Biology at A-level, specifically for OCR and AQA exam boards. I also teach Edexcel Biology (SNAB). I come across as a friendly, patient and enthusiastic tutor. I strive to make learning a creative and enjoyable experience, while always keeping the students goals in mind.

In the academic year ending June 2011, 80% of my students of my students achieved predicted or better-than-predicted grades, and the majority of them were able to go to a University of their choice. Their testimonials are available for you to read on my website.

Apart from regular tutoring, I also offer intensive coaching in preparation for entrance exams, GCSE and A-level exams. I am able to help with homework assignments and proofreading. Additionally, I have previous experience of tutoring students with special needs.

Teaching Experience:

I have six years teaching experience at both undergraduate and post-graduate level, in addition, I have been a part-time tutor for four years. I have marked GCSE and A-level papers and can offer advice on the best way to answer exam questions to maximise marks. Most of my students show rapid increase in confidence levels after 2-3 sessions of tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to motivate young people to achieve the best of their abilities. I believe that all students can do well, turning negative barriers into positive outcomes. My approach is to break down difficult areas into bite size achievable goals. I set goals for my tutees and plan my lessons well in advance. Lesson plans and student progress reports are available to both tutees and parents. For students who work with me for an entire year, I offer additional help with exam paper revision and feedback sessions.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of Oxford University in Engineering and Computing Science. I am fluent in French (as well as English and Polish). From an early age, I had a passion for maths and physics and at school, I imagined how I would envisage teaching those subjects differently. I would often explain things in an alternative way to my friends to help their understanding.
Please note that I also teach engineering topics at university level, usually up to first or second year, depending on the topics.

Teaching Experience:

I have a variety of tutoring experience at both university and high school level (AS and A level). I like to begin teaching with a session to become acquainted with the tutee and their needs.

At Oxford, I studied under the tutorial system which usually meant one professor to one or two students and this taught me to express myself clearly. I often studied one-to-one with a coursemate where learning was achieved through exchanging knowledge by teaching each other.

Tutoring Approach:

I know that every person learns differently and I will be looking to tailor my tutoring style to every student's particular needs. For maths, engineering and physics, I will aim to first establish a thorough understanding of the basics concepts, which is fundamental to making progress in scientific subjects; this will be followed by lots of practice. For French, the key is to be comfortable with the language and I will aim to conduct lessons entirely in French as soon as possible.

Personal Description:
My career was spent in the computer industry and management consulting, mainly with Deloitte and Oracle.

Teaching Experience:

I specialise in 1-1 tutoring of Maths at GCSE and IGCSE Level. In the past year I have been giving 1-1 tuition to 15 students who attend schools in Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge that use Edexcel and OCR Exam Boards. I have also given tuition to students who wish to refresh their "mental maths", gain a teaching qualification or gain entry to officer training in the Armed Services.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach depends partly on how near the Exam date is. If the date is some way away I will focus on teaching the topics the pupil identifies that they have difficulty with. In particular I go through what the pupil has been taught at school since my last tuition session to check that they understand it. As the exam date gets nearer I work through a checklist of every topic in the syllabus, and ensure I cover everything the pupil needs to understand to achieve their target Grade. It's also important for pupils to practise past papers so that they acquire exam technique as well as proficiency in the topics in the syllabus.

Personal Description:
I am a 23 year old former student of the University of Liverpool, studying French and Psychology, graduating in June 2015. I have studied Psychology at A-level and I have been able to speak fluent French from the age of 5, as I was in the French school system up until the age of 15.
I now work as a Lettings Negotiator and have recently qualified with NFoPP, so am able to provide tutoring on this subject and material for up to date legislation and processes of the industry.
I have lived in a number of different countries and have a lot of experience with getting to know new people in new environments. I am told that I am a friendly and approachable person, and I enjoy being able to help others whether this involves academic/school help or just being someone to talk to.
I am the eldest of 3 children and I am very responsible and organised.

Teaching Experience:

I have had some teaching experience, as my mother is a teacher I have been lucky enough to be able to have done some work experience with her in the various schools she has worked at over the years. I also have experience with homework tutoring for people in my own schools, as well as helping my own siblings with their homework/coursework.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very friendly and approachable person, making people feel welcome and that they can ask any questions they like in regards to subjects they do not fully understand. When tutoring, I make sure that every subject is covered thoroughly before moving on to the next level/topic.
I ensure that all tutees feel that they can take as much time and ask me as many questions as they like, as I believe that a friendly, non-pressured approach to tutoring is the approach which will produce much more efficient, beneficial results.

Personal Description:
I am a 22 year old who is currently working at RWS translations group in Chalfont St Peter. I have recently graduated from Durham University with a 2.1 BA in Modern Languages (French and Italian). I also studied Spanish up to 2nd year. I enjoy speaking different languages and try to pass on my enthusiasm for languages to others.

Teaching Experience:

My third year at University was spent abroad. I chose to teach in France for 7 months in two primary schools which I very much enjoyed. I loved to chat to the children and try to get them to see the importance of learning English. I also au-paired for three months in Italy during my Year Abroad, which involved private lessons with a 7 year old. I have also previously tutored French, which included exam preparation, focusing on problematic areas and improving confidence. I understand how difficult languages can be, I believe I can sympathise with the student. The lesson must be fun and the student needs to understand the importance of learning a language, in order to be enthusiastic about it.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe languages are crucial in education. Throughout university I took part in Routes into Languages, a consortium of universities working together with schools and colleges, to enthuse and encourage people to study languages. This role involved planning taster classes for small groups, introducing a new language into their education and broadening their knowledge of the world and different cultures. I particularly enjoyed this role as I was enable to communicate the importance of languages and perhaps inspire some of the children to carry languages on past year 9.

I am a professional and experienced qualified teacher who is passionate about helping students succeed and achieve their potential. I have experience in tutoring on a 1 to 1 basis across all age ranges.

Teaching Experience:

I have over four years experience teaching languages in state secondary schools working with students aged 11-18. I have detailed knowledge of French and Spanish GCSE and NVQ syllabuses and specifications, having taught and examined these courses. I also have experience of teaching A level and primary languages. I have worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds with a variety of special educational needs. I have studied languages to degree level and lived, worked and taught abroad in both France and Spain.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a big believer in personalised learning therefore I like to tailor a programme of study to meet your needs. Each learner is different and so it is important to adapt and use a range of teaching styles and methods to find the ones that work for you. Where my tuition is supporting you in your study of languages at secondary school, I like to ensure that what we do builds on, and links to, what you have been studying in class. Above all I believe learning should be fun and relevant to you and so I put this at the heart of my teaching.

Personal Description:
I work as a Maths Academic Mentor in a local secondary school. I work with students on the borderline of success. My job is to raise their understanding of Maths and to help them raise their attainment along the way to getting a grade 'C' in Maths.
I am very reliable, flexible to your childs learning style with an open mind and a non judgemental attitude.

Teaching Experience:

I spend my time at school in identifying students who are not working at their potential levels in Maths. I work across all the years, but specifically Years 10/11.
Once identified, I work with students in class, one to one, or with small groups and also afterschool. The majority of students in my group will be around the grade D/C borderline and my job is to take them that one step forwards to a secure grade C and then onwards to higher grades. However, I can help your child Improve at any level including A and A*.
This is what I do everyday and over the years I have built a very firm understanding of the aspects of Maths and the specific topics which cause students to lose marks.

Tutoring Approach:

It's important to build relations with students, to promote confidence and encourage independent learning.

This takes time, but once I identify the areas of difficulty for the student. I can target those areas (Fractions, Factorising, Percentages for example) and along with the major 12 topics of Maths which contain the 'must get' marks, I can help your child to make weekly progress by teaching, practising and then testing, to check their learning is progressing. .

Teaching Experience:

My expertise has been developed through 18 years experience of teaching English, Media Communication, Drama and Study Skills to 11-19 year olds, and leading whole-school portfolios in teaching and learning, assessment, staff development and curriculum. Embracing the challenge of leading a school in difficult circumstances, I led a dynamic and vibrant community committed to achieving success for all learners, raising aspirations and learning together in a supportive and orderly environment. My overarching leadership secured sustainable improvements in the quality of teaching which, in turn, led to significantly improved outcomes for students which saw the academy move from 'Special Measures' to a 'good' Ofsted judgement. I have a proven track record of leading students and staff to significantly improved outcomes.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is characterised by the following commitments I make to every learner I have the privilege of working with:

- I will place all learners firmly at the centre of the learning experience
- I will lead all learners towards understanding how they learn best and be mindful that academic success is underpinned by aspiration, healthy levels of self-belief, stress management, courage, organisational ability, resilience, creativity and motivation. And that's to name but a few!
- I will hold the highest expectations of all learners and craft memorable learning activities that will encourage a love of learning
- I understand that behind every set of examination results, irrespective of the scores, must stand a person who is equipped, personally, socially and culturally, to prosper in the 21st Century. For this reason, academic tutoring/coaching will always focus on personal as well as academic development.

The Study Skills coaching I offer can help resolve a wide range of common issues that can be barriers to effective learning. If you answer 'yes' to one or more of the following questions, study skills coaching could well be an investment that brings real value to your child and their future:

- Is your child's effort beginning to slip?
- Do behavioural issues exist in the school setting?
- Is your child frequently getting detentions for forgetting homework or being late?
- Do school reports show a dip in academic attainment?
- Does your child struggle to contribute to classroom activities, for example, answering questions or speaking publicly?
- Does your child give up too easily?
- Would your child benefit from improved social skills?
- Does your child become anxious around examination periods?
- Does your child require increased focus and attention prior to key examinations, e.g. entrance examinations, Year 6 standardised attainment tests and GCSE exams?

Flexible, personalised programmes can commence at any point during the year.

The first session is essential for the success of the programme going forward. In this session, we evaluate current learning strengths and weaknesses in the individual student. In order to get a full picture of the student's learning priorities, we undertake the following activities to determine areas for improvement and the best conditions for success:

- reflections from the student on how they feel about their learning experience
- a learning survey - it's good fun and gives the child/student a really useful exercise in self-reflection
- analysis of recent written reports which contain teacher comments and grades recording attainment, effort, attitude to learning, punctuality, etc. School reports can vary in format so it may be that not all this detail is available
- we ask that a parent/teacher is involved for the duration of this first session to provide their own reflections on the learning profile of the child
- completion of a personalised learning contract whereby the child/student, parent/teacher and coach agree on the required conditions needed for the child/student to be successful during the programme.

Personal Description:
Hello - my name is Dave. I am a qualified Maths Teacher and an experienced A-level Maths Tutor. I specialise in teaching A-level maths and coaching students to attain the top grades at GCSE level. However, I enjoy helping people of all ages and abilities to improve their confidence and understanding of Maths.

I teach Maths at the Redhill Academy, Nottingham, specialising in A-level and GCSE students. I cover all core A-level topics as well as Statistics, Mechanics and Further Pure. I have extensive experience of working with students studying the AQA, Edexcel, OCR and OCR-MEI A-level specifications.

I offer a friendly and effective Maths Tutoring service aimed particularly at A-level maths students and GCSE students who intend to go on to study maths at A-level. In addition I have considerable experience of tutoring adult learners who need help with maths in order to progress their careers.

Tutoring normally takes place at my family home in Gedling, Nottingham.

Lessons usually last 1 hour.

Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss availability etc.

Thank you.

Teaching Experience:

I have considerable experience of teaching maths at all levels especially A-Level and GCSE. Over 10000 hours tutoring experience.

Tutoring Approach:

I have extensive and carefully planned resources for all the A-level maths topics which I teach. The student works at his/her own pace in order to build the depth of understanding that is essential to achieving the top grades. To a great extent the student is allowed to make his/her own mistakes, we can then tackle misconceptions and help to build confidence. Students are encouraged to ask questions to validate their understanding.

Overall my approach to tutoring is based around developing that depth of understanding and confidence in maths. This is broadly achieved by working closely with the student to build a trusting and supportive working relationship.

Personal Description:
Well, hello there! My name is Terianne. I am American. From near New York City. I lived in New York City for a long time. Then I moved to Rome and now here I am in fantastic magical Brighton! Well, in Hove, actually! I ride my bicycle to get around, I do yoga, (Bikram hot yoga and other kinds). I organize comedy nights, I write a blog and nothing makes me happier than meeting new people and this is the right place to do it!

Teaching Experience:

I taught for ten years in Rome, Italy at a school called Wall Street School of English. I loved teaching there. The students were fantastic. In addition to grammar and conversation classes, I started a Drama Club and we did shows for the rest of the school at Christmas. I miss it.

I have also taught at Brighton Language College and I have done a lot of private tutoring. Mostly adults or young adults and some children. I have also taught acting and improvisation so my classes are seriously fun. Both serious AND fun.

Tutoring Approach:

I love the English language and I love teaching! English so weird and wacky and expressive. (Maybe you will need a dictionary to look up those words! :-) ) Unfortunately for you, English can be also a bit difficult. I know. But let's not focus on that. Let's focus on having fun, let's focus on the joy of learning and then what will happen is that the silly mistakes we make will only make us laugh. We will laugh a lot and you will learn a lot. That's the best way to learn.

As for me, I am a trained actress and comedienne so I will always keep you entertained and the lessons will always be lively. And I expect you to do your homework! Just because you hire a teacher, doesn't mean you're going to learn: you have to do the work!

Personal Description:
I am a student currently pursuing my MEng in Civil Engineering at Imperial College London. I finished my A-levels last year at Wellington College, Berkshire, UK, where I achieved 3A*s 1A. I currently live in a student hall in central London (Kensington) and am willing to travel small distances for tutorial classes. I am undoubtedly strongest in teaching science/math-based subjects such as KS3/GCSE/A-levels maths, physics and chemistry as proven from my A-level results.

Having only recently finished my A-Levels, I believe I am very familiar with the current UK education system. Besides, I feel I can relate and communicate with children, teenagers easily due to our narrow age gaps. This definitely helps learning because communication is key in tutorials.

In terms of language, I achieved 8/9 marks in the IELTS exam, which proves my English language proficiency.

Teaching Experience:

I started tutoring back in Hong Kong, where I travelled to kids and teenagers aged from 9-16 for tutorials. When I arrived at England for my sixth-form studies, I volunteered in teaching younger students (GCSE) at my school weekly. I have also been to Eagle House, a prep school which has ties with Wellington College, for tutorials with younger students.

Tutoring Approach:

First things first, tutorials has to be interactive and fruitful at the same time. I have experienced the difference between boring, too-intensive tutorials and interactive, interesting and productive tutorials, so my tutees definitely won't experience boring, harsh and unbearable tutorials.

Every lesson consists of these targets which should be completed:

1) recap of materials learnt in school
2) Q&A session between tutee and myself
3) focus on homework
4) focus on difficult, tricky concepts
5) final recap and a few questions from me for consolidation

Throughout the course of tutorials, I will spot the weakness of particular topics of my tutee, and further focus on it.

During exam periods:

1) exam strategies and techniques
2) past-papers (KEY!!)
3) extra lessons if needed

If my tutees have any questions, I would be able to answer them via Skype, telephone, text or social media.
