Personal Description:
I'm Pauline, and I specialise in French and biology. It sounds an odd combination, but read on and I'll tell you more.

For French - I'm half French and am fluent in the language having started with "survival French" at the age of five to stop my cousins from persecuting me, and then studying it at both GCSE (A* grade) and A-level (A grade). I go to France regularly and enjoy reading news articles in French. For lessons, I usually mix in reading, speaking, listening and grammar, as well as some history, geography and French current affairs to bring it to life. I am also available to practice speaking French, to improve your accent. I can teach both students for exam prep and adults if you're going to France and need some help with asking for directions and a coffee/glass of wine!

For biology - I again studied at GCSE and A-level and then did three degrees in the general field of biology! My PhD was in biomechanics so I specialise in biomechanics, anatomy and physiology, muscle and exercise science and cardiovascular; but feel free to contact me and we can discuss what you need. I can even teach plant science! I have worked with GCSE and A-level students for many years and am familiar with most common exam board questions. I am happy to go through past papers for exam practice. I have most experience with AQA exam board questions but can easily adapt to other boards.

I'm patient and friendly and use a flexible approach so you learn at your speed. Having obtained my PhD, I can relate to students and the specific pressures they face. I am DBS checked and can supply references on request.

Lessons are £25 per hour per person and £40 for two hours, including travel in and around Newcastle. There will be a small charge to cover my fuel for a longer drive, but I'm happy to discuss.

I may not be the cheapest but I'm experienced, patient, friendly and flexible - I'd rather be good than cheap!

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring since 2008, working with a variety of ages and in a range of topics from French tuition to sports coaching. I have taught over 30 students, both school students and adults, and have excellent references.

Tutoring Approach:

I will work closely with you to achieve your goals, if that's to improve in the subject for its own sake, to pass an exam or even to be able to order in French at a restaurant. During the first session we'll agree on a timetable and set specific goals. We'll set aside a few minutes during each subsequent session to assess our progress. I am patient, friendly and reliable and above all I love teaching!

Personal Description:
A trilingual professional and qualified teacher with 2 MA's degrees in languages and long tutoring and instructing experience. I will help you to understand your work better and expand your knowledge in the subject. My language lessons are carefully planned and tailored especially for individual students according to their level and needs. My students practice the main 4 language skills - reading, speaking, listening and writing. My main objective is to develop skills in order to improve fluency and confidence in dealing with native colleagues and clients.

Teaching Experience:

My skills are based on solid academic experience. I have got around 6 years of tutoring experience and worked with adults, children and professionals.
- Worked alongside leading academics in the field of methodology as an assistant
- Conducted research and analysis
- Organised conferences and assisted in consecutive and liaison interpreting
- Assisted in translation of articles and legislations eg. Polish Labour Code
- Worked internationally as Russian/English and Polish tutor in Poland, UK and Holland therefore I am culturally sensitive and adaptable
- 2 years' experience in working with students and professionals in China (Fujian International Business & Economic College) as TEFL teacher & Foreign Language Expert

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that one of my best qualities as a teacher is my ability to inspire confidence in my students so that they feel comfortable expressing themselves regardless their level of ability. Central to my philosophy of teaching is to create stimulating yet non-competitive environment in the classroom. I always feel it is my responsibility to inspire my students to want to achieve their maximum potential. I have strong confidence that a learner can utilise his or her ability to the fullest if he or she has the utmost willingness to do so. As for me, I was fortunate to be introduced to my second languages at a very young age. I discovered that there were several factors that contributed to the level of effectiveness of learning the second language back then.
Having a strong intrinsic motivation to learn the language is crucial, you always need to find ways to develop your language vocabulary, practice correct pronunciation, listening speaking, reading and writing skills. You have to be resourceful -find ways to improve yourself. Spend some time reading foreign newspapers during weekends and make foreign language dictionary your new life partner!

Personal Description:
Hi, everyone,The academic year is now a term old and things are ticking along nicely for almost all my students of 2016-17. Sadly two have had to drop out of school/college studies because of personal issues which is sad, when the time is right, these two very bright individuals will come back to studying, I'm sure.

I am more busy than ever this year but do have perhaps one or two spaces for students keen to just improve or to transform themselves and their fortunes. However bad things seem, I can show you how make the best of your talents.

Craig

TWO EXAM PAPER NOTICES

A couple of examination paper notices.

1. I am now OCR trained for the new AS level source/essay paper. Obviously this has given me a clear insight into how it's marked and how students need to approach it to be successful.
2. Secondly, the ED Excel Y13 A2 sources & essay paper (three secondary sources): I worked with four students on this last year and achieved spectacular results (these pupils can be contacted; some won't be able to put referees up here because I found all 4 of them via word of mouth and the UK's other major tutoring site). I'm very happy to report that I worked hard and thought hard on refining my advice on the paper and it has clearly paid off handsomely. Do contact me for details; I can pass these on to you prior to your making a decision on whether to engage me (or not as the case may be). Naturally anyone re-taking the A2 paper in 2017 can benefit from this. The new EdExcel History exam has a similar paper so this year's cohort of Y13 students should be able to benefit too.

Note. Because I'm away for the next 3 weeks carrying out research in London and Reading for my PhD I will not be able to begin lessons this year until the last week of September.

Plus:

Important policy change! If your young one or you, the student, is/are one who is not prepared to be coached and trained as our Olympic athletes are - and by this I mean that the performer puts themselves in the hands of the coach and doesn't try to tell them how to do the job - then please do not get in touch: simply pass on to another tutor somewhere else on this site.

---

And now, The Pitch!

So, my name is Craig, a very dedicated one-to-one tutor of History, Politics and English. I offer an exceptionally high level of expertise as a history, politics (and English) teacher, teacher of essay writing, exam writing and exam taking. This is based on well over two decades of experience in schools and in homes. Though I have been teaching a long time, I am continually striving to improve the quality of my work, constantly analyzing the effect of my advice on performance and trying to perfect the art and craft of the job.

When not tutoring, most of my time is spent working (hard!) as a student too! I am just about to begin the third year of my PhD, supervised by Professor Tony Collins of De Montfort University, Leicester, undertaking research in 20th century British history. (Rugby fans might like to note at this point that Tony is the number one rugby historian - of all codes - in the world. All his books are very well worth reading.)

I am exceptionally well qualified. I have an MA (2011) in History and am now two years into my doctoral studies. I have written fiction and non-fiction. I have had experience in being an A level marker with an exam board. I have had long experience in teaching and preparing whole History & Govnt. & Politics year groups for A level, producing outstanding results.

I take on all types of students. Some need a lot of training, some need to be dragged away from a collision-course with failure, some need finessing, some need waking up, some need inspiring, some need a boost in confidence; some need more intellectual stimulation; all can and do improve their writing.

My chief strengths are: 1. I know how to teach students to write. 2. I know how to prepare them for exams. 3. My methods are clear, simple and work beautifully. 4. I care very much about the progression of my students. 5. I treat my work with them with the utmost seriousness. 6. But I'm a human being with a sense of humour! 7. I am very, very experienced. 8. As a parent of three children who have gone through the school and university experience, I understand what both the student and the parent is going through.

I am very happy to work with students online. I have found it to work extremely well.

More on my current research project...
I am currently working on doctoral research into the BBC, sport and social class, 1922-64, with Tony Collins at De Montfort University, Leicester. He is the director of DMU's International Centre for Sports History & Culture, a department of world renown, and the leading British powerhouse of sports history. I am very proud to be working with Tony and within the department. Undergrad students should note that I am working under one of the world's best historians, a 3-time winner of the prestigious Aberdare Prize for Sports Books.

Becoming a student again, beginning with the masters degree course at De Montfort University in 2010 has really helped my teaching. As well as keeping on top of developments in academic history. I am much better read! I know more! It has also taken me right back in touch with what it feels like to be a student and all that follows from that. It has also enabled me to extend my tutoring potential to undergraduates and masters students.

I'm happily married with 3 children fully grown (it's only their father who's lagging behind).

Teaching Experience:

I taught for 24 years in secondary schools in Bromley, Kent and Derbyshire where I now live. History was my specialism but I was head of Politics for a number of years in the last part of my school career. I also taught Geography, Economics, English and R.E.

Since beginning to tutor students, I have taught history, Government & Politics and English (including basic literacy skills to a young person with dyslexia). Courses taught have mostly been those at GCSE and A level.

I have taught a wide range of topics within French, German, Russian and British history. The list includes the usual suspects: causes of World Wars 1 and 2, Hitler and the Third Reich, the French Revolution (and its causes) and Napoleon; also Tsarist Russia, the Russian revolution and Stalin as well as the European Reformation, France in the 16th century, Louis XIV and aspects of Irish and Chinese history and 19th century France, plus 20th century USA. politics (Boom and Bust, New Deal and Post-War Boom, and also the Witchcraft Persecution in Europe (1550-1680).

In terms of British history I am very much up to speed with all aspects of its 20th century political history (high politics, parties, electoral history, social history & economic history, right through to the 21st century, in fact); I have also taught most aspects of 19th history, social, economic and political. For the last decade and a half of my school-teaching career I taught the A level course in 16th and 17th century - The Tudors, James I, Charles I, Causes of the English Civil War, Charles II, James II & the Glorious Revolution, the reigns of William & Mary & Queen Anne.

I have recently added 19th century British politics (Reform Bill through Peel, Palmerston, Disraeli and Gladstone to Salisbury) and Witchcraft in Early Modern Europe to my "roster" of topics.

Since becoming a PhD student my expertise level in terms of content knowledge has leaped forward in 20th century British history. However...

...it isn't the historical content of the course that matters so much: technique is the key; know-how; how to write; how to take an exam; how to prepare for the whole exam period; how to approach the whole thing mentally, psychologically; how to be the best you can be; how to be successful - end of story!

I have worked with students on exam preparation and revision, coursework planning and execution and essay writing techniques. It is here that the battle to improve and to reach a fulfillment of potential, often with the reward of high grades, is usually won.

Tutoring Approach:

I don't tinker around the margins of issues. I give students something all those who come for help require: a method to use to dispose of the problems posed by the issue of writing that dreaded thing: the essay! Not a tinkering round the edges of the thing, a tip here, a bit of advice there, but a comprehensive yet simple and absolutely clear set of actions and principles through which the student can fulfill their potential: show the examiner what they know and understand of the topic.

Following on from the above, my approach to tutoring begins and ends with the drive to be successful. If I did not unfailingly improve students, help them to achieve the grades they want and need I would not be writing this.

In between comes what we might describe as philosophy and methods. It's hard to write about methods without immediately mentioning what I suppose might be my strongest "offer" (I don't much like that word but there, I've used it). As a schoolteacher I developed a unique but simple method of essay planning and writing that achieved stunning results. So successful has it been over 20 years that I am astonished that no one else seems to have found it. But in my experience up to February 2013 no teacher has. Essay writing is still something that many, many students find difficult and confusing. It really does not need to be this way.

Obviously content issues are hugely important and here I rely on my communication skills which have yet to let me down! These, naturally, go hand in hand with a knowledge of British and European history across a variety of years which has grown over recent years particularly through my MA studies, my PhD research and through working with students on a range of historical periods, topics and people. I find myself to be adaptable to different types of students. I am able to adapt my language and my technique to fit the situation. I am also somewhat stubborn in that I never give up on solving a problem. If we have to go over time, so be it!

Finally, some more of my personal philosophies of teaching. I believe that students generally do not achieve their potential. With each student I aim to take them to standards (and grades) that they did not think were possible. Without exception I push, push and push until we run out of time as we inevitably do. I also do not believe in lost causes. Much can be achieved in a very short space of time. I have seen this happen over and over again.

There is much more to be said but that, I hope, will do for now.

Craig

Personal Description:
I'm a very approachable person who interacts well with students of all ages. Most would say that I have a positive outlook on life and always leave a positive impact on those I meet. I'm friendly, down to earth and honest. My philosophy is that studies don't have to be boring, and I always use my career as a teacher/tutor as testament to this.

I enjoy a variety of different things such as arts, culture and cuisine. My hobbies include drawing comic strips, magna, anime and playing electric bass. I am open minded and welcome students of any age, race, background and culture as an honour for me to teach.

Teaching Experience:

Over 7 years experience teaching and tutoring in and out of classrooms. I have taught both in the UK and abroad. I am one of the few teachers in London who is able to teach Mathematics, English Language, English Literature and the three respective Sciences to A* at GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

Each student is different, and I feel it an insult to my students' integrity to tell them how to revise when first meeting them. Through my experience teaching, there is no right way to study, but there are a variety of 'better' ways to make the best grades for each person's potential.

Many students approach me frustrated that they often don't achieve the same calibre as their peers despite the hours they put in. Often it is due to the fact that they aren't their peers and a different approach to revision and homework is required. I believe in working smart before working hard.

Personal Description:
I am working and living in Salford Quays. Although I am not related to languages from my studies I had a wide experience teaching Spanish in Spain, UK and Singapore. I really enjoy teaching and being useful to people.
Now that I am settled in Salford I would like to teach again, enjoy my time teaching and meeting new people through my lessons.
About my skills... I am a native Spanish speaker with fluency in English language (I work among English native speakers). I am available during evenings after my work and some weekends and I am very flexible in terms of the pattern to follow for the lessons but for the place where to teach I would prefer your house... I am also interested in language exchanges (proper ones like lessons) with French, German or Chinese people/students. I have experience teaching though Skype so we can consider this option too.

Teaching Experience:

I was teaching Spanish in Malaga (South of Spain) for five years during my Bachelor from time to time when my studies allowed me to do so. Afterwards I was teaching in London where I was living (2010). During my masters in Newcastle (2011) I become more professional teaching with my own material (I created it as a mixture of different books & sources according to the necessities of my students) and it was then when I got to know about this site. Consequently, now I have references from that time to continue teaching privately. I taught students to pass their Spanish subject at GCSE and A levels. I taught beginners and I carried out advance lessons as well (conversation and grammar). I also taught in Singapore where I was doing my master thesis in 2013. I was teaching a little girl in this occasion. Before coming to Warrington I was teaching a kid in Edinburgh. Summarizing I had experience with people aged between 5-62 years old. I had a couple of students when I was living around Warrington including GCSE, conversation for advance students and total beginners.

Tutoring Approach:

Because I am working in English at a professional level language and I am still improving my English everyday (to reach profiency level one day) I can understand the troubles with learning a new language (I am also learning German at the moment and I was involved in French and Mandarin lessons before). I am patience and I take care of my students necessities and goals. I like having an interactive class and to use different exercises to digest the new knowledge. I also correct a text per lesson at home if it is needed and the students have level to write something by themselves.
I am up to for trying new ways of teaching/use new material. We just need to meet to discuss your priorities and goals.

*children who struggle at school due to emotional or behavioural issues
*children who have missed school for various reasons
*children who are home educated
*adults who want to `catch up` or improve their English and maths
*college and university students who need support with essay writing, proofreading and exam revision techniques

Over the past 4 years in my role as a tutor, my students have made excellent progress in terms of confidence, catching up with age-related expectations and achieving the desired level or above in 11+ or Year Six SATs. I have a loyal student base and much of my work now comes from existing student recommendations.

Recent successes:

Children who have not responded to tuition in the past have really engaged with the subject and made good progress.

Children who were struggling with Year 6 SATs have achieved at least one level higher than predicted.

Those tutored for 11+ exams have passed and gained entry to their chosen school (Two to Wolverhampton Grammar, one to King Edward`s Birmingham).

Feedback from a Masters level student on completion of her dissertation:

I would like to express my deepest thanks to my support tutor Zoe whose support has been most invaluable, without which I could not have possibly completed this project, and I am forever grateful for her help.
(Taken with permission from the acknowledgements of her dissertation, May 2015).

Personal Description:
After school and university (where I read English literature & philosophy) I worked for a television production company as a researcher, before applying to drama school.

Like many tutors, I am an actor and tutoring is one of the various jobs I do to supplement my acting career, and the one that I find most rewarding.

Teaching Experience:

As well as English, I also tutor elocution & accents, give guitar lessons, and I do one-to-one role-play tuition for medical students preparing for their clinical exams.

Besides individual lessons, I have run public speaking workshops and taught classes for Italian teenagers learning English.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to get straight to the specific needs of each pupil and adapt my lessons as closely as possible to that individual student. I also attempt to cut through the jargon of assessment objectives, technical terms and exam rubric and explain in plain language what is required and ensure that my pupils understand.

Studying English & philosophy taught me to think critically and express myself clearly, which is essential when assessing a pupil's ability and helping them to grasp ideas. I find that my training as an actor, with a concentration on listening and responding has allowed me to be very adaptable and aware of what a pupil needs.

Personal Description:
I am a bilingual and bi-cultural French-American. I first came to Belfast in 2009 to study at Queens University. After obtaining my degree, I realized I wanted to stay in Northern Ireland and devote myself to befriending its lovely people, finding peace through its beautiful landscape and sharing my knowledge of the French and English language with an ever-growing swell of curious students.
I grew up in France, just west of Paris, and attended a very prestigious international school that boasts rigorous bilingual education. As a result, I am well versed in both French and English systems of education.
I am also the proud mother of a young boy who is also being brought up completely bilingual.
My interests include art (more of a passion, really), literature (particularly French novels) and food (growing up in France helped a lot!).

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching a small class of mature students in the Belfast area. They are at an intermediate level and find the material we explore in the classroom to be highly stimulating. Also currently, I am giving personalized French tuition to A-level students. In this manner, I am well familiar with the course syllabus for secondary school and have been smoothing out whatever difficulties pupils may have regarding exams.
My past experience as a French language tutor also includes teaching absolute beginners at the Language Centre in Queens University in Belfast.
I have also given private one to one tuition to students from all different walks of life and different proficiency levels; from post-graduates looking to brush up on their skills before a holiday or work placement in France to married couples wanting to learn the foundations of the language before relocating to the French countryside.
I am a qualified language teacher and have been awarded a TEFL certificate.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is purely student-centred. I believe that the student's needs should lead how the lessons are designed. In other words, I pay very close attention to my students' interests, levels, motivations, difficulties etc. in order to produce a course that will respond to their needs and help them find the meaning, direction and confidence they need to master the language. My lessons are highly personalized to ensure the student can relate to the material and be compelled to participate actively. My main objectives when teaching are to engage my students with stimulating material, challenge and encourage their natural aptitudes and finally, to reward their efforts through positive and constructive feedback.
I believe in everyone's ability to master any language so long as the teacher breathes life into the language and in so doing, sparks the pupil's curiosity, imagination, confidence and critical thought.

Personal Description:
I have recently retired from full-time teaching but remain very active in the field of education. Apart from private tuition, I work as a consultant for schools both locally and nationally; I am a highly rated examiner for AQA and I deliver courses on their behalf to schools and teachers.

Teaching Experience:

I taught both Economics and Business Studies at GCSE and A level with great success in terms of examination success; for most of that time I was head of a large department.

Tutoring Approach:

Students find that I am easy to relate to. I am very calm and friendly by nature, the vast experience I have of working with students aged 14-19 means that I feel very comfortable working with young people. This is something which appears not to diminish with age! The depth of knowledge I have means that I can recognize whether or not a student has full understanding of ideas and if they have not I am able to find alternative ways of explaining until the concept has been grasped. A particular strength lies in my careful and detailed analysis of past examination papers to ensure that I cover the things which are needed and avoid the things which are not.
For students who do not live in the Lincolnshire area I am able to provide on-line tuition.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable person who genuinely enjoys the buzz of helping people achieve their goals. I love reading, writing, film and the English language!

Teaching Experience:

I've been teaching for 17 years; over half of that as a Head of English. I'm nuts about assessment and as a result I'm an examiner for Ks2 SATs, GCSE and A Level. I'm also a moderator for A level so if you need help with coursework then look no further!

Sometimes students want extra help during revision time. I can arrange intensive sessions just before that big exam to give you the confidence you need.

I've also tutored for some years and have my own transport or I am available for Skype training if required.

Now considering tutoring for home schoolers and private clients during the day. From January 2018-contact me for more details.

Tutoring Approach:

When something is made relevant to you, then you're far more likely to remember it. Therefore I always get to know my students and consider how to tailor the learning to them.

My experience with examining makes me a great tutor-I know exactly what the exam board wants...I work for them!

Personal Description:
I am a PhD candidate at the University of St Andrews with 4 years of experience as a tutor.
I hold Masters in Philosophy & Politics and Media & Film at the Stockholm University (Sweden) and University of Bari (Italy). I offer tutoring in a number of different subjects, including Politics, History, Math, Philosophy, Media & Communication, Film, Art History, Science, English and Italian, at primary, secondary and academic levels.
Angela (student in Politics and History at the University of Edinburgh) says of me: "She's the best tutor I've ever had. I received the highest grade I have ever finished with in Politics, all thanks to her" (September 2016).

Teaching Experience:

In 2012 I started tutoring kids in secondary school, teaching subjects spanning from mathematics to religion studies, from design to natural sciences. In January 2014 I begun working as teaching assistant and tutor at the University of St Andrews, conducting seminars, advising students and marking essays and exams in Media & Film. Since September 2015 I have been working for a tutoring agency in Scotland and tutored students in Politics, History, Media & Communication and Film.

Tutoring Approach:

I provide tutoring in a number of different subjects (Politics, History, Math, Sociology, Philosophy, Media & Communication, Film, Art History, Science, English and Italian) at primary, secondary and academic levels.
I help students:
- prepare for classes, presentations, GCSE, tests, language tests (IELS, TOEFL, etc) and exams
- write essays, personal statements and formal letters
- proofread and translate into English
- research databases and library catalogues

My tutorials start by assessing the student's understanding of the subject. I then address the areas that need clarification by breaking them down into more basic questions/tasks. I always provide examples, which help students master the subject and remember it more easily. Finally, I always make sure there is enough time to recap at the end of each tutoring session.
I am at the same time authoritative and friendly, and the students and their parents have so far always trusted and appreciated my work.

Personal Description:
Hola!

I am a native Spanish speaker from Colombia. I have also lived in Barcelona (Spain) for 23 years. I completed a degree in Digital Marketing and Business Management at the University of Medellin, Colombia. I achieved a First.
I moved to England in February, 2010 as I really wanted to improve my English.

I am friendly and hardworking. My personal interests are: salsa, yoga, sports, travelling, nature, meeting new people and listening to music.

Teaching Experience:

In Spain I worked as a private tutor for 12 years. I am familiar with the syllabus at GCSE and A level.

I offer support in all relevant skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. I can support students in improving their intonation and pronunciation in order to reach high standards of accuracy. Alternatively, I can work on improving your knowledge and application of Spanish, as I offer advice on how to use key words and structures (e.g. verb tenses, adverbs, etc.).

Tutoring Approach:

I use a range of resources to support students (worksheets, videos, CDs) together with a variety of methods (from traditional writing and reading exercises to games and role plays). I can adapt my teaching to suit your learning style and priorities (e.g. improving writing skills to prepare coursework).

I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Hasta pronto,

Walter

I am a friendly and enthusiastic 24 year old Mathematics graduate.

In September, I will start my PGCE to teach Secondary Mathematics in Manchester.

Teaching Experience:

I have 3 months' experience teaching Mathematics and English at a private school in central Bangkok.
This was a full-time position which involved planning, classroom teaching and marking. I taught Mathematics to students aged between 8 and 15.

I have also had 2 weeks' experience working in the Mathematics department at Kenton School. In this position I shadowed teachers and took on the role of a classroom assistant, often helping students one-to-one.

I am passionate about my subject and helping students with their work. I strive to make every lesson productive, enjoyable and rewarding. I am happy to tutor students on specific topics they may be struggling with and to help with exam preparation/revision.

Personal Description:
I was born into a family of educators who instilled in me a love of learning.I earned my Bachelor of Engineering degree from Kerala University-India 2014, after that I have worked for 2 years in one of the leading Multi National Company called HCL Technologies Limited, India.

Teaching Experience:

I was a tutor for over 20 students in India.

Tutoring Approach:

I know the subjects concept, ideas and problems inside out. I can introduce the subjects to real life applications from my experience and knowledge that I've gained. I can make learning fun and can help to develop the core basement for the students. I can make learning relevant to student's interests, thus create more students who actually care about what they are learning.
I prefer to build a strong and intense relationship with students because I believe the personal relationship is the key to the student's success. The closer the student feels, the more respect and consideration the teacher earns. I always treat every student same because nobody in this world is lazy or not capable, it's the way that we find out the best in them is the key. I always listen and communicate early and often with parents, that helps me to map a better plan for success.
I always believe that lesson planning is important and this intuitively leads to student's success. For my session following points will be covered about the topic
1. Objective of the course
2. Introduction
3.Body of the course
4. Checks and Home Works
