Personal Description:
Juan is a rare artist with a great deal of intellect and an in depth understanding of piano, composition and music technology. He has been linked to what he describes as a "marvelous instrument: the piano" since the tender age of three. Eight years later, he made his fist concert appearance in his hometown Estancia Santa Marνa de La Armonνa. Ever since, he has been a regular performer throughout the theater halls of Argentina, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom.

Teaching Experience:

8 years of one to one tutoring.
I have prepared students for all ABRSM and Trinity College exams including GRADES and DIPLOMAS with 100% success rate.
I also train other teachers entering for Masters at RCM and RAM. I believe in a modern approach to music learning that's why I encourage my students to develop a their own taste for music. I also give my students the option of start making their own videos here in my studio where I have all the necessary equipment.

Tutoring Approach:

Juan believes that people connect to music at different times of their lives. As you watch him work, it is stunning to observe how he can be involved in the details and never lose sight of the big picture. His approach to piano pedagogy is very unique, one which simultaneously combines music technology, playing, reading and writing.

As a piano tutor, his greatest challenge is to instigate a hidden and deep rooted spark within each of his protιgιs. He believes that everyone should learn at their own pace, and accommodates this by providing tailored programmes. He has been very successful in preparing students for the ABRSM and Guildhall Trinity Exams.

Personal Description:
My name is Ellen and I have been teaching for fourteen years. I have a vast amount of interests and hobbies. In my spare time, I enjoy going to the cinema, eating out, theatre, walking, reading, eBay and I also work in a shop part-time too.
I have a clean driving license and I am willing to travel to pupil's houses, or they're welcome to be tutored at mine.
I am hard-working, committed and always eager to learn. I rarely have a day off sick, I just keep going!
I am also a member of a local meet up group, which is based in Chester and North Wales. I often participate in these events, I feel it has allowed me to meet more like-minded people. I'm a land lady on rented property, so I have to be professional and organised. This is when my teaching skills come into place!
I strongly believe you have to live life to the full, and grab every opportunity you can. Life's too short.

Teaching Experience:

I have a vast amount of teaching experience. I have taught in the primary sector, ranging from Nursery up to Year Six.
Within my teaching career, I have been a History and PSHE Co-ordinator, where I was responsible for up-dating the school's policy, ordering resources, monitoring other teachers performance in these subjects and organising educational visits too.
I always ensure children's work is marked daily, with constructive or positive comments on their work. I also think praising the children is important, this is done through reward systems. When in permanent teaching positions, I have always ensured that the environment is bright, colourful, fresh and stimulating. Wall displays, illustrating children's work from a varied ability is important.
I always ensure affective discipline is carried out in the classroom and I always accommodate for each child's needs, differentiating if necessary.
During my teaching career I have organised class assemblies in front of the whole school, ensuring that each child has a piece of reading to be read or an acting role to be carried out, the assemblies often link to their theme they've been learning that particular term.
I always follow the Foundation Curriculum and the National Curriculum in a professional way.
I can work as part of a team and communicate with parents on a professional level. I'm hard-working and always ensure that children are happy and stimulated in their learning environment.

Tutoring Approach:

I have been tutoring since 2007, however, in 2012 I did take a break. I always ensure my lessons are appropriate for the child's learning, and after a day at school, I always try to make the lessons as stimulating as possible.
Sometimes the tasks may relate to the child's experience, this is done through reading and writing. I also incorporate celebrations and multi-cultural events in the lessons too, I feel this broadens the child's outlook in life.
My lessons incorporate writing, reading and comprehension.
I always give feedback to the child and parents at the end of each lesson. I ensure my lessons are delivered in a professional manner.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Taylor and I hold a PGCE, an MA, a BA, 2 years experience as a full-time lecturer and over 2 years as a personal tutor, but more of that below!

I'm 28 and work, by day, in film and television distribution. Film is my first love but I am passionate about education and about using mine to help others succeed in building their own.

My particular areas of strength are:
* Film and television studies
* Media theory and production
* English literature
* IT
* Mathematics

Although I am flexible with regards to the subject.

On a more personal level I have a great many interests and these include:
* Sports and fitness - I cycle and run a lot (most recently I ran the Coventry Half Marathon) and frequent the gym around 6 times per week. It is also my intention to enrol onto a BSc Sports Science degree in the near future.
* Music - I play guitar and up until recently had played in an indie rock band for 5 years.
* Travel, arts and culture - I am perpetually fascinated by all things 'Japan' although my appreciation of culture in general extends well beyond this.
* Cooking - I have a particular penchant for baking but take delight in the culinary arts altogether.

I am an open and honest individual with a high degree of motivation, inquisitiveness and enthusiasm and greatly look forward to working with you and/or your child.

Please don't hesitate to drop me a line should you have any specific questions.

Thanks a lot for your time,

Taylor.

Teaching Experience:

Prior to returning to university to complete my masters I spent 2 years as a full-time college lecturer. As a full-time lecturer in Creative Media Production I worked as a member of a small team guiding learners through a large variety of different media disciplines such as short film production, media theory and documentary production. In the last round of observations my teaching practice was graded 'Outstanding'.
In this role my responsibilities included:
• Co-leading the Level 3 in Creative Media Production team and course in achieving 100% success rates
• Producing educational material for use by team members in multiple topics including 'Short Film Production' and 'Advertising Production'
• Delivering 20 hours of lessons per week to 60+ learners across multiple courses for topics including 'Scriptwriting', 'Documentary Production', 'Radio Production' and film and media theory/history
• Examination and analysis of coursework in relation to official grading criteria

Tutoring Approach:

The approach that I have found to be the most rewarding has typically been very Humanist. That is to say that I place an emphasis on the learner's journey to self-actualisation by promoting their own sense of achievement, accomplishment of their set goals and enthusiasm for the given subject. However this approach is not exclusive, just as each learner is individual, and so the most important consideration of my approach to teaching is my understanding that effective learning has no prescribed path. As such my approach to tutoring is adaptive and fluid

Sept 2009 - July 2012 - Christ's Hospital School - Actor In Residence & Drama Teacher

• Lesson Planning
• Solo Lesson Delivery
• Behaviour Management (CH welcomes children from all social and economic backgrounds - I taught several students with severe behaviour difficulties & troubled home lives)

As Actor In Residence I worked as a drama teacher, activity leader, LAMDA/Trinity coach, director, producer and I assisted in the day to day running of the 500 seat theatre. I taught 2nd and 3rd Form (Yr 7 & 8) drama using existing schemes of work alongside those I created. I taught over 150 pupils per week and as their only drama teacher I was responsible for their reports, three-weekly grades and parent's evenings. The school were so pleased with my contributions to teaching they offered me twice my teaching hours in my second year. I also team taught Yr 9 lessons and I assisted with directing etc in GCSE and A-Level lessons. Alongside academic teaching I led Drama 'actives' after lessons where I created and lead a one hour drama workshop several times a week. Working at Christ's Hospital also gave me the chance to work in a busy theatre environment combining set design, prop making, theatre maintenance, stage management and front of house management. I also directed and co-directed several shows including 'Anything Goes', 'The Crucible', 'Grim Tales', 'Ernie' Incredible Illuciantions', 'Easy Virtue' and 'The Jungle Book'. I have also experienced all aspects of Boarding School life and pastoral care as 98% of students are full time boarders.

July 2007 - July 2011 - Pilgrims Language School - Assistant Course Director & Head Of TEFL

• Management (Responsible for a team of staff)
• Lesson Planning & Observations
• Solo Lesson Delivery
• Communication Skills - Working with very young children with no English language

Each Summer I taught English to children aged 7 - 12 from around the world. I lived on site (in a boarding school environment) and I was responsible for teaching, entertaining and caring for the children twenty four hours a day. Having worked for the company for several years I reached the level of Assistant Director and Head of TEFL for the residential course. I was responsible for a team of teaching staff and I ensured they were delivering suitable and stimulating English lessons throughout the course. I also taught a class of my own. As Assistant Director I was a senior part of the management team, ensuring all activity and teaching staff were working happily and correctly. In the absence of the Course Director it was my responsibility alone to ensure the smooth running of our course. I often had to deal with couriers and families and I know how to project a professional, caring, enthusiastic and genuine image. I developed my team work skills, learnt how to thrive under immense pressure and my communication skills were constantly used to their full potential.

Sept 2008 - April 2009 - Kent Youth Theatre - Drama Teacher

• Lesson Planning
• Solo Lesson Delivery
• Team Teaching

I taught children aged from 6 - 16 various theatrical disciplines and dramatic styles. I delivered a three hour workshop weekly. I ensured the children in my care were learning effectively and having a fun and enjoyable time.

March - April 2008 - Point Blank Theatre Company - Drama Facilitator

• Lesson Planning
• Team Teaching
• Behaviour Management
• PR

During a work placement with the Sheffield based theatre company Point Blank I worked with a partner to devise and deliver a cultural drama workshop. I worked as a mentor for two international students who had travelled to the UK to teach school children about their cultures. I taught the two international students how to deliver a successful drama workshop and I helped them shape their own ideas into an educational and enjoyable drama workshop for Primary School children. Alongside this project I also worked with an English partner to create a cultural workshop for deprived children in the city. I contacted The Sheffield Children's Centre and created a relationship with them enabling us to take our workshop to underprivileged children who had never had the chance to express themselves through drama.

June - September 2006 - The Funzone - Playworker

The Fun Zone provided after-school and summer holiday childcare play schemes for children, aged three to twelve. I would lead activities, play group games, prepare and cook the children's meals, clean the rooms, supervise children and be responsible for groups of children on various outings and trips throughout the summer. I learnt how to work with children and how to work effectively to carry out duties such as cooking and cleaning, while making sure the children in my care were both entertained and safe.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly, fun and experienced tutor. I believe a healthy dose of humour and kindness is important when teaching and I am a very professional and hard working person.

Personal Description:
I am different and kind teaching tutor as well as my responsibilities as a tutor will be to find not only what motivates each student to learn but also what motivates them to misbehave. If we can meet them at that point and take away that motivation, we can go a long way towards a more effective classroom and learning experience.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently studying BSC Business Management with Finance in University at London. I am new tutor so hence I feel that student will able to learn from me if I explain it to them in a respectable manner. Students will need to learn in order to achieve good grades so to do that they must have a positive attitude towards their own learning, attend the sessions on time, improve by practising as much times as possible to get it right.

Tutoring Approach:

I have qualification such GCSE's, A levels and will soon join University in London for degree in BSC Business Management with Finance. I feel that I can achieve and help a student to gain improvements within their grades. My teaching is different as I teach slowly so the student could gain the knowledge and understands it, so hence I teach into steps so the student could learn. No point rushing as this will put stress on the student mind which could be a very concerning issue of health.
(Please Note: you must not force anyone to learn quickly or they will struggle with their studies).

Personal Description:
I have been involved in martial arts for over 14 years now and enjoy the process of teaching others how to better protect themselves. In my current main job, I teach and train members of staff and provide workforce development for over 1000 staff members on a variety of topics. My second job is as a Kickboxing and Self Defence Instructor at the University of Sunderland, where I have worked for over 7 years.

My peers and tutors have told me that my mannerisms and personality lend itself well to instructing and teaching. I am patient, understanding and explain subjects in an accessible way. I genuinely get enjoyment out of teaching, especially that moment where a student suddenly 'gets it' and then starts to take leaps and bounds in the training.

I sincerely look forward to hearing from you and training you or your class to better protect themselves.

Weekday's would have to be organised at least 2 weeks in advance so I can secure a leave day to accommodate this training.

Teaching Experience:

- 1st Dan Black belt for ASMAA Freestyle
- 1st Dan Black belt for Kickboxing
- Level 1 Coaching qualification in Kickboxing and Self Defence
- Phase 3 in Jeet Kune Do, Kali and Silat
- Over 14 years in martial arts, 6 years teaching
- Trained Gold, Silver and Bronze winning Kickboxers at a national and local level
- Part of ASMAA (All-Styles Martial Arts Association)

Tutoring Approach:

A personalised, considerate and professional approach. I would speak to you to find out what needs that you have, for example if you encounter situations at work or in your personal life, and then train you in a bespoke, specific way to deal with those issues. If there are no specific issues you are looking to cover, then a general overview would be covered that is useful for all walks of life.

Every step of the way I will explain concepts, reinforce them with real-life examples and ensure that, in your mind, you have confidence in the techniques I will be teaching. You will then have the opportunity to train these techniques at your own pace, with detailed feedback and giving you opportunities to improve and praising good form.

All techniques can be 'pressure tested' to ensure that they will work under stress or imminent attack.

For those students that are younger, I have delivered sessions that gently guide students into the world of martial arts and about respect for one another. Fitness, games and good solid technique would be the backbone of any sessions delivered.

Personal Description:
A qualified maths teacher, DBS checked, with a first class honours degree. I've worked successfully with over 250 students.

Personal Description:
I'm a student heading to The Queens College, Oxford in 2017 to study Classics with an emphasis on Philosophy, my main area of interest. Im the oldest of five children and generally a very patient, bookish person who tends to get on with people well. Throughout my schooling I was told that my goals were unachieveable because of dyslexia, and I have worked hard to prove that to be false, so I am dedicated to helping others when ordinary schooling isn't quite enough - be that to push an A to an A* or pass an exam or just improve skills in any given area.
Outside academics, I play the piano and enjoy spending time with my family and my dogs.

Teaching Experience:

During school I took part in several different tutoring programmes; teaching science master classes to underprivileged 4-8 year olds, tutoring for the 11+ and CE exams, tutoring for GCSE level students in Maths, all three sciences, English, and religious studies, and tutoring fellow AS and A Level students during sixth form. These have ranged from people who want extra revision and marked work before exams to people who are struggling and retaking exams multiple times, to people who are just learning English. In total I have around 150-200 hours of tutoring experience.

I've worked with many people with learning difficulties and disabilities, and am very experienced in finding ways to help people learn and revise. Often people with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and other learning difficulties struggle to learn in conventional ways, and having had to be unconventional myself, I'm committed to helping people learn in ways which work well for them. One of my brothers is Autistic and non verbal, and I work with him using his special interests to make the subject engaging and working with text and images.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is centred around the premise that every person learns in a different way, and every person deserves to fulfill their goals and potential.

When tutoring younger children, I make learning fun through games and grounding the work in their interests; for example, when I was teaching English as a foreign language to 4 year old twins, we played games like hide and seek and football, where they would win if they used the right English words.

Of course, every subject requires a different kind of teaching; English language gcse can be practiced with excerpts from students favourite books or writing about favourite tv shows, whereas psychology A Level is largely about evaluative skills, so critical conversations about theories and studies are key. Each subject cultivates specific skill sets, and I aim to work with students on their own weaknesses and help them perfect their strengths; I will mark work and discuss it with them in depth, create handouts and revision notes with them, and work through papers and questions with them.

Personal Description:
I am a private chemistry tutor based in Chiswick, London. I have a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, and I will be happy to help you with all your chemistry needs. I have extensive experience in tutoring students in chemistry on both sides of the Atlantic, having lived and worked in the US prior to moving to London. In addition to tutoring, I also taught organic chemistry at San Francisco State University on a part-time basis.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching chemistry to undergraduate students while at graduate school at University of California, Santa Cruz about 15 years ago. I taught general and organic chemistry. After receiving my Ph.D., I worked as a research scientist for a startup company in Silicon Valley, California, working on cutting edge research in nanotechnology. I have been a full-time chemistry tutor for the past 4 years, teaching students on both sides of the Atlantic. I have tutored students in GCSE level chemistry, A-level chemistry, and college level chemistry. I am well familiar with the curriculum and stringent requirements of GCSE and A-level examinations.

Tutoring Approach:

I see my job as to provide the missing ingredients from the educational experience. For some students, the lecture or the book simply does not make sense. I will explain the concept in as many different ways as needed until the student gets it. For some students more practice problems are needed and I am happy to provide as many problems as needed and guide the student through a solution. We are all different and learn in different fashions. I see my job as to find the right way and to unlock that potential that I see in every student who comes to me.

Personal Description:
I am a professional writer and my most recent qualification is a first-class BA in English Language and Literature awarded in 2013 from the University of Leeds. I also have an up-to-date DBS certificate.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as a tutor with JK Educate - a large agency who've equipped me with training to meet the needs of my tutees. I've also completed the University of Leeds Peer Mentoring Programme, a role which required me to give academic and pastoral advice to first years in the School of English when I was in my second and third years.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring is, to many people, the cornerstone of a progressive education. In our current educational climate, tutoring offers to children a means to achieve academic success and progress onto the institutions of their dreams. I should know. Having been raised on a council estate in Bow, East London, where the state schools are poor (to put it mildly), I was tutored, firstly by my dad in arithmetic, then by a stream of excellent tutors who added English and more advanced Maths to my home curriculum, and by the time I left primary school I held a scholarship offer to my dream school. the prestigious independent day school City Of London.

Larger class sizes mean that children don't get the attention they deserve. In my school years I fell into that general category of learners that require close attention throughout their education to achieve their goals. I felt that the bulk of secondary school was particularly challenging because I was in large classes, and by this point was not receiving supplementary tutoring. By A-Level, the smaller class sizes enabled me to flourish in my four chosen subjects and graduate to attend the University of Leeds on the Leeds scholarship. While there, the one-to-one tuition I received from my professors, who encouraged my research in healthy directions, helped me leave with a first-class result.

All this is to say that I know exactly how important tutoring is. For me it is a fantastic and rewarding experience, and one which I have a lot of energy and patience for. My approach is fastidious and rooted to the needs of the individual tutee. I also feel that, particularly with younger students, parents should be fully informed with regards to the progress their child is making and the areas which need improvement. Through close and critical observation I believe a tutor can massively turn the tide of a young learner's academic progress.
