Personal Description:
I'm amazing!!!
And I help other people be amazing too!!!
My aim is to increase everyone's understanding of everything!!!

I've been tutoring Maths, Science and English since 2007, for ages 5 to 50. However, I mostly help teenagers with their SATs, GCSEs and A Levels.

Maths, Science and English are the three main subjects that people tend to want tutoring in. (Actually it's five subjects if you break the Science down into Biology, Chemistry and Physics.)

Anyway, as I tutor all of these subjects, my students find it very useful that I can potentially cover a different subject each week, or I can do two hours a week and cover a different subject in each hour.

This obviously makes it much easier for the parents too, because they don't have to find a separate tutor for each subject, or leave their child without the valuable one-to-one support in any of the core subjects.

I've also helped my students with pretty much every major school subject; from History and Religious Studies, to French and Spanish, and even Psychology and Health and Social Care. In fact, experience has shown me that I can help anyone to better understand anything - even something that I didn't even know myself a minute earlier!

Teaching Experience:

Educational Employment

Private Home Tutor
The Right Line
2007 - present
Tutoring GCSE and AS Level Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Tutoring GCSE English Language and English Literature.
Tutoring Numeracy and Literacy (including Phonics) for ages 7 and up.

Life Improvement Course Director
COSRECI
2001 - 2012
(A community education and counselling organisation.)
Assisting students on courseroom-based life improvement courses.
Marking and returning lessons for home-study life improvement courses

Tutoring Approach:

Initially:
I find out the student's strengths and weaknesses.
I find out what they want to achieve from the tutoring.
Together we draw up a rough plan of action to achieve this.

While tutoring:
I ensure the student understands every word of the subject as it comes up.
I aim for a full, conceptual understanding of each point to the best of their ability.
I keep motivation high with reward stickers! (IT WORKS!!!)

Personal Description:
I am a very positive individual that likes to carry out tasks efficiently. I feel that I am a motivator that can relate to a diverse range of people from my experiences from travelling and working in a variety of environments also I have worked with children from different backgrounds and educational levels and with my specific tailored programme of study I can help your child excel beyond your expectations.

Teaching Experience:

I have relevant experience with GCSE and A-level students from one to one tutoring to small group teaching of up to 4. I also have taught English previously when travelling in Asia.

Tutoring Approach:

From my years of experience of tutoring I find that confidence is vital towards success, which I instill in all my tutees.

My style of tutoring is very interactive with visual aids and diagrams with clear concise logical explanations of concepts and theories of the topics to be taught.

My strategy involves building a solid foundation in topics with a step-by-step approach where the basics are covered to ensure that at advanced stages, the tutee can excel.

If the tutee is unclear with a certain problem, breakdown of the problem into individual steps and working though each step with the tutee until the answer is derived to ensure clear understanding in approaching and conquering problems.

Personal Description:
Hello! I'm Nicole. I'm a bit of a history and literature geek (and I hope to convert you!!)

I studied History and English at the University of Oxford (Wadham College). I graduated with Double First Class Honours in 2010, and came top in my academic year: no mean feat!

I believe that my excellent grades reflect several important characteristics: my exceptional academic ability, my high academic standards, my mastery of study-skills, and my dedicated and conscientious work ethic. I look to encourage all of these qualities in my students.

More importantly though, my outstanding results are a result of my absolute love for, knowledge of, and commitment to, my subjects. I absolutely love to learn, and aim to help my students to find a similar excitement and passion for their studies!

Teaching Experience:

Over the past few years, I have privately tutored a number of students. My students have come from a diverse age range - spanning from the very young to the much older - and I feel comfortable working with children, teenagers and adults.

I have tutored students in History; English Literature; English Language; reading comprehension; speaking, listening, reading and writing skills; primary level Maths.

I have also tutored 11+ applicants, for which I have a 100% success rate.

I also have experience in mentoring potential Oxbridge applicants, and advising university peers and younger students on study and revision skills.

After graduating, I worked full-time as a Cover Supervisor in a secondary school. That means that I took classes in all subjects across the secondary curriculum, for students ranging from 11 - 16 years of age, and I also supported teaching in A-Level English classes. Seeing up to 150 students in a day was a challenging and rewarding experience in which I was constantly thinking on my feet, and successfully applying my teaching skills to brand new material (in familiar and unfamiliar subjects). This job also gave me the opportunity to observe and work with students of all abilities and learning styles, and to learn how to adapt my teaching style accordingly.

I have worked on a number of projects which involved education, support, or leadership of young people. These have included:

- Working with and supervising over 120 foreign children and teenagers whilst employed by a Cambridge-based language summer school as a programme coordinator and social leader.

- Peer support leader within the APAUSE programme ('Added Power and Understanding in Sex Education') which offered sex education and empowerment lessons for younger teenagers.

- Co-director role in secondary level production of 'Les Miserables' with responsibility for over 100 children and teenagers aged between 11 and 18.

- Co-director role in community theatre production of 'West Side Story' with responsibility for working with approximately 50 children and teenagers.

- Assistant role for GCSE-level 'Speaking and Listening Days' which involved aiding teachers in helping students improve the quality of their English language GCSE assessed work.

Tutoring Approach:

I am passionate about learning - and look to encourage a similar excitement in my students. In History this might be through some particularly fascinating or gruesome details, or in English, through exploring a beautiful line of poetry.

I am very individual-student orientated, so I seek always to establish each individual's aims for tutoring, and then we will work together toward these. For one student, this might be to know how to deconstruct a poem; for another, how to write a good essay.

With some students, I will plan structured lessons, whereas others prefer simply to earmark time with a dedicated tutor, before deciding what to do themselves at the time. Perhaps they will bring their homework, a study-book, or something they are stuck with - whatever the case, I aim always to listen and respond to the needs of each individual student.

With all my students (but especially the younger ones) I am a big believer in making learning FUN! I therefore often design lessons which use a variety of practical learning activities to keep them stimulated, rather than just relying on book-learning. In the past, I've mummified a teddy, conducted a press conference, and taught times-tables via Grandmother's footsteps! I find this to be particularly effective for students who struggle with concentration.

I believe that when offered education through the right methods, everyone is able to maximise their own ability to learn. Having completed a full-time degree and worked in secondary education, I am equipped with plenty of different learning methods. With my students, I therefore look to discover which approaches work well for them, and then to use these to help them master the subject material. This in turn helps students to gain in confidence and self-motivation as they discover their own capacity to learn well.

If students are working toward exams, I first seek to establish what a student feels his or her weaknesses are, and then focus tuition on areas or skills which will help them to plug the gaps or grow in strength and confidence. If more general support is needed, I will combine working with core material with a focus on ensuring that they have a solid grasp of the assessment objectives, question-types, and what the exam will look like, so that they can go into the exam confident and well-prepared. I also find that practice, practice, practice is essential, so we'll often work with past papers.

I seek always to establish clear lesson goals, and to review material learnt several times within each lesson, ensuring that the student feels comfortable with using the material learnt, rather than swamped by facts and lists!

Personal Description:
I've loved Mathematics from as long as I can remember and I enjoy teaching it and tutoring others. I have studied Maths up to PhD level and so am comfortable teaching all levels of Maths. I am friendly and spend time to help my tutees understand the fundamental concepts which they need for problem solving so that they can be successful in applying this knowledge in their exams.

Teaching Experience:

I was a teaching assistant at Strathclyde University for 4 years. In that time, I lectured Mathematics to first and second year University students, organised and supervised tutorial sessions, set and marked assignments/exams and tutored students on a one-to-one basis. I have also tutored my friend's kids who were home schooled and marked work which their parents didn't have the knowledge to mark.
Also have a PGDE(S) in Mathematics and currently teaching within the new curriculum

Tutoring Approach:

I find that the most effective way of mastering concepts/tricks is the hands-on approach. So I work with my tutees particularly in areas where they are weak until they have mastered the underlying concept/approach and are able to apply it on their own to similar problems. I am patient and work with you to help you use the knowledge you already have by approaching material from a different angle to what you've maybe been shown.

Personal Description:
I am a MFL teacher (Spanish and French specialist) living in North West London. Since I was a child, I love languages and social relationships. Besides, I enjoy a lot helping and developing the understanding and skills in my pupils in these languages to get always the best.

Teaching Experience:

From October 2008 to April 2009 I have worked as a language assistant in a high school in Angoulme (France). My main duties were teaching conversational Spanish twelve hours per week to different classes and levels (from primary to secondary), supporting the teachers in the Spanish language department, coordinating small group discussions during regular class time under the guidance of a full-time teacher, and collaborating with extra curricular activities organized in the high school along the academic year.
Appart from that, I have worked several times in Spain as Spanish & French private teacher, and nowadays I have 3 years of teaching experience in the UK (both comprehensive and grammar schools).

Tutoring Approach:

Foremost, I consider myself a person with a strong aptitude for tutoring, combined with self-confidence and the ability to take critic of my work, constructively.
My greatest strength is to inspire and motivate learners. I am able to engage their minds by incorporating a variety of enjoyable activities and learning projects. In addition, I tailor lesson plans to meet their diverse interests, as well as demonstrate direct connections between the tutor time and everyday life.
Discipline is also a characteristic to which I pay close attention during my tutoring, because I consider it is one of the fundamental pillars of the educational process.
As well, I have a great deal of patience and know that little steps in learning go a long way. This quality, I believe is especially important in dealing with learners. In the same line, I am flexible, open minded and empathic when approaching them. I enjoy creating new ways of learning and using all the tools to hand, to use traditional and innovative approaches to learning. Lastly, I believe, to listen to other point of views within the lesson is very essential, because it is important for the good tutor-student interaction and contributes to the student's learning success.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic, outgoing and committed person with a positive outlook on life. I am very passionate about Physical Education and Sport and am very adaptable to suit the needs of the individual and understand that everyone learns in a different way. I give everything my all and believe that it is vital to build a positive relationship with those you are teaching to help each individual reach their full potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have been private tutoring since Sept 2011 and find it very enjoyable and an extremely rewarding experience. I have been tutoring alongside working in Education and have tutored four pupils over the past year. In July 2010 I completed a PGCE in Secondary Physical Education. In 2009 I graduated with a 2:1 honours degree in Coach and Physical Education at The University College Plymouth St Mark and St John. Completing my PGCE and Undergraduate degree has enabled me to work with a wide variety of people and personalities. Both University courses and working in Education have given me the opportunity to develop and gain experience and knowledge in both theoretical and practical aspects of Physical Education. I relate very well to young people and feel that I can help pupils develop a better understanding of the subject through private tutoring. I have taught many areas of PE as well as the practical side I have also taught BTEC sport, GCSE theory, AS and A-level (all areas and both OCR and AQA)

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that understanding the individual in which you are teaching and the way in which they learn is vital. It is important to develop different acitivities to ensure that they are learning the best they can, this may be visually, auditory or kinaesthetically. A complete spectrum of teaching styles, strategies and approaches is needed to create a positive, effective learning environment and I believe that my experience so far has allowed me to develop this approach.

2013 freelance tutor in Bristol for 14 students
2013/2014 freelance tutor in Bristol for 6 students and I'm teaching in private school "ISLE"

Tutoring Approach:

I am an Italian national who has been living in Bristol since September 2012 and having had a long time experience as an Italian teacher for students who have participated in the AFS Intercultural Program, it has not been difficult to insert myself here as a private Italian teacher.
I have a deep understanding of the GCSE program since I am tutoring three English secondary school students who are having difficulties with the Italian language. They lack interest and enthusiasm thus each lesson becomes more difficult but a challenge for me. I am looking for lessons that give them the enthusiasm they are missing and I must say that I am succeeding; sometime I see that the textbook is very dry and for this reason, my personal teaching materials often replaces the book.
My method is based a lot on grammar induction, stimulating conversations with the student, based on body movements for understand the action of the various stages of the exploration of the basic construction of the verb tense. A few years ago I enrolled in a workshop offered at the university about the use and choice of scene Italian films for understand better the Italian style-life and that has been quite useful to my teaching of Italian culture.
In Italy I have had own bookshop where I held my Italian lesson, therefore I know very well many documentaries and lectures mostly (or particularly) on Ancient Rome. Furthermore, I have been a guide in the city of Rome and I'm perfectly capable of organizing a cultural trips.
I look forward to being given an opportunity to work with your school: it is the type of environment I thrive in and to transmit my passion and love for my country and for my mother tongue is my main goal. This position will allow me to utilize my many skills and knowledge to support the language teacher's teaching and improve together the student's knowledge.
I would appreciate the opportunity to meet and discuss my qualifications as well as to answer any questions you may have.

Personal Description:
My name is Haidee, I'm a 19 year old from Liverpool studying French at The University of Liverpool. (I often go to Kirkby and Fazackerly to work and see family so would often be available to tutor in that area too). I have thoroughly enjoyed learning French for 8 years and would love to pass on my knowledge so that you can enjoy learning French too! This is my first time tutoring but I have a genuine love and flair for languages and have enjoyed teaching friends in my own time, so please don't let this put you off as I would love to help!

In school I sat my GCSE early at the age of 14 (year 9), passing with a B. I then continued to study French for the final two years of school and passed again with an A*. I also started studying Spanish in the last two years and passed with an A. During college I studied French to A2 level, passing with a B. In my time in college I spent a week each year in Montpellier living with a French family and attending a French language school, which I really enjoyed and feel helped me with my learning.

In my free time I love to cook (although I'm not very good at it!), go out for meals (when my cooking goes wrong!), read and watch films. I also love to practise Tae Kwon Do, which I started at the age of 15, although I don't do this since I moved away to university.

Teaching Experience:

This is my first time trying tutoring, but I often helped my sister with her French to GCSE level. I also helped a friend of mine who struggled in school to pass her English and Maths GCSE by using imaginative teaching and memory techniques, to which she was very grateful. Due to having friends that also study languages I am used to being able to help others in areas in which they struggle. I have worked with children and young adults from age 2-18 part-time for the past 3 years and so would be comfortable teaching from all ages.

Tutoring Approach:

Throughout my learning experience I have found that it is best to learn the basic rules and grammar of a language from the start, as this has made it easier to build on this. I have lots of quirky ways of remembering things myself and would urge you to figure out how best you learn in order to develop your own style. I also enjoy to watch films/news, listen to music and read genuine French articles to enhance my own learning and would be using these to make your learning more interesting. As not every individual is the same I will adapt my teaching to suit your style and meet your individual needs and if there's something different you want to do please let me know so I can change!

I am a 23-year old Spanish teacher wishing to improve your Spanish! I am smiley, open minded, responsible and, above all, a very good professional when it comes to doing what I like the most in my life, teaching!

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as a Spanish private tutor since I went to Prague as an Erasmus student (in 2010). I loved sharing my language and culture with others so much there that I decided to continue doing it, even though I started as an English tutor in 2008.

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons are fun, practical, and goal-oriented. I am flexible when it comes to tutoring, since every learner is different (i.e. age, level, personality, pace of learning, strenghts and weaknesses, interests) so I will adjust my teaching and the contents to your personal interests and purposes, so you can achieve your objectives as soon as possible!

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic and patient teacher with a passion for Mathematics. I believe that life is a constant learning experience and get much satisfaction in helping students in achieving their goals. I am extremely flexible and am always happy to go the extra mile for my pupils. For many pupils I understand Maths can be a very boring subject to some pupils however I choose to engage them with real life application of Mathematics, in order so they can truly appreciate the importance and satisfaction Mathematics can bring.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience in teaching people from a wide variety of backgrounds to include very young children, some with learning difficulties, to high achieving GCSE students. I have even spent some time tutoring prisoners, helping them to learn functional Mathematical skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the key to teaching success lies in the ability to tailor learning styles to the individual. My style of teaching therefore changes from pupil to pupil, and I like to encourage a general curiosity in my students to enable them to learn more from the world around them. I teach not just what to learn but HOW to learn it, as this is an essential skill for future years of studying ( at University etc)

Personal Description:
Hello my name is Clare, I am 26 and I am hugely passionate about learning and teaching foreign languages. I studied MBA in French and Spanish at the University of Glasgow graduating with a 2.1. Learning languages have brought me so many fantastic experiences and opportunities and I want to help others have similar opportunities. Language learning brings you confidence, self belief and opens your mind to a whole new way of looking at the world and I hope that my tutoring will aid people with this.

I was lucky to live in Peru for a year teaching primary school children and in Brussels for 3 months studying translation and so I am very confident writing and speaking French and Spanish. I have used my languages working for the United Nations in Germany, volunteering for a charity based in Mexico and working for a research company in Edinburgh.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught various subjects in various capacities over the past 7 years. I have been a clarinet tutor for pupils up to grade 5, taught a class of primary school children in Peru (basic maths, literacy and science) in Spanish and I have tutored French up to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing for me is making sure the learner is relaxed, comfortable and feels able to lead the direction of the sessions. I adapt my approach to each learner's needs, abilities and expectations. I start by setting some goals with the pupil (and their parents if appropriate) and we work towards those specifically. I try to speak in French and Spanish as much as possible - it is amazing how much you can understand without realising it!

I use a variety of listening, reading and speaking exercises to ensure a rounded approach to learning and use contemporary material from newspapers, novels, films, music, tv as appropriate for the learners age and ability.

I am also comfortable helping more advanced learners with history, politics, literature and other modules they may be taking at school or university.
