Personal Description:
I currently run an independent IT & Business consultancy with offices in London, Hertfordshire, and Brighton. We employ 26 members of staff and as the head of the organisation, I have been privileged enough to work with organisations of every shape and size from one man bands right up to multi-national corporations.

Prior to doing this, I spent a considerable amount of my spare time teaching visually impaired students how to use their computers, and empowering disadvantaged teenager and young adults to start up and run their own businesses.

I thrive on giving back to the community and helping others to help themselves. I have recently been awarded professional membership to the Chartered Institute to IT, and regular give talks on topics ranging from website development to workforce management.

Teaching Experience:

As a tutor I have been able to teach all sectors of society from the most deprived to the most comfortable people across the UK. This has allowed me to gain a level of experience unmatched in the business sector. I have personally delivered tuition and given talks for over 1,300 hours.

With the extensive experience I have been able to gain in the education sector, as well as the wealth of experience and knowledge I can now share with you as my student.

I specialise in providing support to existing businesses or newly formed businesses. In addition to this, I also provide help and guidance to students who are studying for their degree or masters to help improve their education and chances of getting a job at the end of the process.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very simple yet ultimately flexible approach to working with senior level members of staff, I work in partnership with you to achieve your goal instead of "tutoring" you.

We start off at our first "meeting" by writing a list of your goals and what you would like to achieve using the time I will be spending with you. I encourage you to be realistic, but also to think outside of the box.

After this I'll ask you to think about how you'd like to achieve those goals, and how much time you can put into achieving them. Quite simply put, the more time you can spend working on your goals, the better the outcome will be.

This forms the basis of the action plan that I will normally then draw up. We use this action plan to tick off each point as it is achieved.

NDA's are always available on request and in most cases clients take this up as it allows you to work safe in the knowledge that no one else will know you have sought my services.

I have a PhD in laser beam shaping and a first class BSc in Physics. I am a published scientist and I have teaching experience ranging from lecturing at undergraduate level to tutoring A-level and GCSE students.

I am 32 years old, married with a 16 month old son. As well as tutoring I also work for a leading firm of patent attorneys in central London, helping inventors to protect their ideas.

I am approachable, patient and friendly, and an ideal tutor for anyone needing extra help in Maths or Physics.
Whether you sitting your GSCEs or preparing for university exams, I can help you gain the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to gain your full potential.

I have been teaching Maths and Physics in the UK since 2006.

From 2006 to 2012, I tutored an average of nine students per year, mainly for Maths GCSE and Physics A-levels across the OCR, EdExcel and AQA exam boards.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an enthusiastic approach to tutoring and always try to ensure a real sense of progress and satisfaction by the end of each lesson by working on high priority problem areas first. Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic mathematician with an ability to communicate well. I have a first class degree in Maths and Chemistry. I would like to help students by either guiding and supporting them in their exam preparation or by developing their confidence and increasing their skillbase in maths.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in a large comprehensive school in Leeds teaching 11-18yrs for the past seven years. I have experience of taking students through SATs, GCSEs, and A-Levels both in school and in private tuition with excellent results. In addition to this, I am an examiner for AQA and Edexcel exam boards, marking Alevel papers. As such, I am very well qualified to help students develop a more effective exam technique that maximises their marks.

Personal Description:
I began tutoring during my Philosophy of Science MSc at the London School of Economics. Subsequently I decided to pursue a career in science and began to train as a geologist at Birkbeck College, University of London in a 4-year degree program while continuing to work as a tutor. Over the course of the last 3 years my teaching career gained momentum and I made the decision to pause my second degree to focus on teaching.

Teaching Experience:

Since graduating I have gained thousands of hours of tutoring experience over a period of 4 years. While I specialise in teaching maths at 11+, 13+ and GCSE level, I also have a wealth of experience in teaching sciences (13+, GCSE), maths (A-level), English (11+, 13+, GCSE, A-level) and philosophy (A-level and degree level). Alongside my independent work I am a senior tutor at three high end London tuition agencies.*

I have successfully prepared students for entry into a wide range of schools including Bancroft, Channing, City of London, Eton, Forest, Francis Holland, Godolphin and Latymer School, Haberdashers', Highgate, North London Collegiate School, Queen's College, Sevenoaks, South Hampstead, St. Paul's and UCS.

I have worked as an assessor for a London tuition agency since 2010. I conduct assessments which potential tutors must pass before they are allowed to work for the agency. Assessing other tutors has given me excellent insights as to how to improve my own teaching.

*I am not permitted to name these here, but I can provide references once contact details are exchanged.

Tutoring Approach:

The key to my approach is keeping the student's mind as active as possible. My lessons are extremely questions-based and seek to guide a student to explore concepts rather than merely deposit information. Since this approach requires more engagement from the pupil, the material is better retained and more thoroughly understood.

I find the science of memory fascinating and have carefully researched and tested various memory techniques that I now find invaluable during my lessons. The luxury of one-to-one tuition is that each lesson can be perfectly tailored to the individual student. Over the first few sessions, I determine how the pupil best absorbs information and what teaching style they find the most engaging. The result is highly efficient learning which generally manages to be good fun as well.

Outside of classes I am happy to answer emailed questions and to mark small amounts of homework free of charge. Detailed proof reading and feedback for coursework assignments for those I do not regularly teach is charged at my hourly rate. Group sessions are available the charge is 50% of the normal fee for each additional student.

Personal Description:
I am a PhD student at the University of Bristol in the area of tumour and stem cell research. Prior to my PhD, I have obtained a summer studentship from Barts and the London, school of medicine and dentistry and worked in the cutaneous research centre there.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked as an academic tutor at a 6th form college in London, where I tutored A-level Biology and Chemistry as well as giving advice on general essay writing and university applications. The age of my tutees have ranged from 17 to 23 years old. I also cooperated with the college to establish group learning sessions and promote students' confidence and interest towards scientific research.

I have over 5 years experience working with parents and young children from newborn to 15 years old through my volunteering in the national association of child contact centres (NACCC).

Tutoring Approach:

The most ideal teaching and learning method will be assessed individually with each of my tutees. This may be followed by a series of semi self-directed learning to 1) allow the students to explore their areas of interest and 2) to boost their confidence in understanding a topic by themselves. I believe the materials learnt ought to be consolidated, so depending on the purpose of the tutoring session, practice exam papers will be used to improve the students' confidence in tackling questions.

Personal Description:
Although I now have a PGCE in mathematics I have been lucky enough to get the chance to apply my skills in maths and physics whilst working as an engineer in the automotive and white goods industries. It gave me the opportunity to travel abroad and to get involved with companies such as Dyson, Jaguar, Austin Martin and then even allowed me to watch rockets being built in Russia.
I trained engineers and factory workers in the use of mathematical and physics based subjects. Some of those I taught had jobs which involved predominantly manual skills and so they were a little rusty when applying mathematical techniques. This makes me appreciate the nervousness some adults have when presented with a subject they may not have touched since leaving school.
After leaving the engineering world I had a brief spell working as a trainer in the insurance arena and then finally ended up teaching mathematics in secondary schools.

Teaching Experience:

I worked as a manufacturing engineer for 8 years and then I taught engineers and factory workers for 10 years in the use of techniques involving mathematics and physics. After leaving the engineering world I trained adults to use a mainframe software program and then I went on to become a secondary school mathematics teacher. Finally I started tutoring from home working with various types of pupils. Some pupils have special needs, whilst others are working towards an A grade in their A levels.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to know why the tutee wishes to study. It may be to improve their confidence or to pass an exam. This will then shape the nature of the tutoring sessions. My focus is to provide people with the knowledge that is most useful to them and their aspirations.

Hola, I am a University Educated Native Spanish Speaker residing permanently in the UK. I am a professional translator with years of experience in translating documents from English into Spanish and I have experience as a Spanish teacher as well.
I find it very rewarding and I enjoy helping others to learn a new language or improve their knowledge and skills they have already got.

Teaching Experience:

Before coming to England I worked as an English Teacher at a Secondary School in my native country for 1 year and taught the Spanish Language to English speaking adults who visited the country as tourists. I have good rapport with my students and I encourage them to review at home what they have already learned in my lessons for them to be able to reach their goals quicker and move a step forward. I also use a good and useful activity book which helps the students to do practical exercises during the lessons and for homework if they wish.

Personal Description:
I have loved maths from a very early age and I genuinely enjoy helping others to understand and do maths. I am an experienced private tutor, willing to teach all ages and abilities up to and including A-level, or higher upon request.

I am very friendly, patient and understanding as a teacher. I never criticise or make the student feel bad; if they are struggling with something instead I try to think of other ways that they can approach it so that they have a strong understanding for the next time they tackle a problem.

I am a Cambridge graduate and have recently joined the Actuarial profession, working as an Analyst for JLT Reinsurance Brokers in London. I passed my first Actuarial exam with just over 2 months of preparation.

Since I now work full time and am studying myself, I can only take on a certain number of students at any one time. My preferred day to tutor is Saturdays, from morning to around 4PM. In special cases Sundays can be arranged.

Teaching Experience:

I have privately tutored all ages and levels in Maths, with great results. Including helping a boy who needed help with his maths who then went on to achieve a scholarship from Eton.

I have also done work experience at GCSE level in a private school for girls where I helped pupils with Maths, Chemistry and Physics when they needed help understanding the work in class, and also had a couple of opportunities to teach the whole class.

I am registered with and certified by Kensington & Chelsea Tutors, although I now usually only tutor students who live close enough to come to my house.

I have been a member of the Institute of Physics since my first year of Cambridge. I like solving unusual problems and giving students gems of information to inspire them, in physics and maths particularly.

My joy of helping others to learn began when I was around 7 years old when I taught my 3 year old brother the basics of mathematics. Later on I was known for helping friends at school with homework, and in lessons for being able to explain things to them.

Tutoring Approach:

My strengths are helping students with particular areas of difficulty to improve confidence, and helping tackle exam questions step-by-step.

I believe the most important thing is to listen to the student, help them with any key issues they are struggling with, give them new ways to approach problems that they might not have encountered from other sources. Then they can tackle the subject matter with greater confidence.

I also believe the best way to learn is to go through problems with student, and note areas where they might be making mistakes. Then I can think of examples on the spot, to improve on the areas they are struggling with, before moving on.

Personal Description:
I am a UK Law Graduate and TEFL certified tutor with more than 6 years experience teaching English to individuals of all language level proficiencies. I am also a freelance English-Swahili interpreter & translator as well as a proofreader of academic materials like dissertations, coursework, essays etc. Furthermore, I have higher basic level knowledge of French and Korean.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching on and off since 2004 then seriously took up part time teaching in 2007 and full time teaching after 2009. I have taught individuals of all proficiency levels and with different needs ranging from improving conversation skills or grammar skills to full on learning for absolute beginners.

Tutoring Approach:

First of all I like to determine the level of my students' proficiency by having a simple conversation with them and also having them read a short article/written piece so as to create my lessons to suit their individual needs and their particular level of proficiency. Consequently my approach and material changes to suit each individual student.

I usually create lesson plans according to the students' needs and their level of proficiency. I use different text books as well as online materials and come up with effective lessons. I also use lots of flash cards as they are a very effective way to remember new things. News articles, simple song lyrics etc are also ways I use to make lessons fun but very easy to remember at the same time. I use these especially for conversational purposes to get my students to learn new vocabulary and expressions as well as be more confident speaking/reading English.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified secondary English teacher, based in the Bradford area. I am currently in my third year of teaching.

I am interested in tutoring, as I find it a very enjoyable and gratifying role. I have experience in teaching both English and Maths.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in secondary schools for two years as a classroom teacher, and I am currently in an intervention role in English in a school. This involves removing small groups of pupils from lessons and providing more one-to-one support. I have experience in teaching Key Stage 3 English, up to GCSE level, with more able and less able pupils. My curriculum knowledge is up to date, since I still am working in a school environment.

Additionally, I teach at a Kip McGrath centre, tutoring pupils in English and Maths and for the 11+ and grammar school tests. The pupils I tutor here range in level from Key Stage 1 to GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

I personalise my tutoring methods to the individual needs of the tutees. I hope to develop the confidence of my pupils, as well as develop their skills. My main resources involve the use of worksheets, CGP books and exam resources.

I can tutor from my home, travel to your home or tutor online. Sessions are 1 hour long.
