I have been volunteering at Young Carers helping with homework and extra tuition for the previous year. I also work privately helping those of all ages and abilities, including adult learners as well as children of a very young age. Over the years I have acquired a lot of tricks and techniques to make arithmetic easier to learn.

Although I claim to help up to an Advanced Higher Maths standard, I have the ability and experience to help those at university struggling with foundation maths courses.

I love history! I have been 'doing' history since I was 14, and it is something that encapsulates me into a whole different world. I have worked as a history teacher at a secondary school for 10 years, and have loved delving back into the past with the older and younger students alike. I studied and worked in archaeology before becoming a history teacher, and found working with real objects from the past was an amazing experience.

I have been teaching History at KS3, GCSE, AS and A-Level for 10 years. For four of those ten years I was Head of Department, responsible for issues such as curriculum, exams and monitoring student progress, so I am experienced in identifying areas of need for students and helping them to progress. I have been very successful with exam results, and have enjoyed guiding tutee's through their exam subjects.
I have taught AQA in the main, but have knowledge of OCR and Edexcel. I am also part of the teams of markers for AQA at GCSE, and am a moderator for the Unit 4 coursework with Edexcel. I have knowledge and understanding what exam boards are looking for in response to exam questions and coursework objectives.

I am also working as teaching GCSE English and Functional Skills in English to adults, which I enjoy.

I have been tutoring since Dec 2011, and really enjoy the change from class teaching. I have tutored a wide range of students with a wide range of needs, and have taught to all the exam boards. It is really rewarding to set up individual lessons and focus on exactly what is needed, knowing I can offer help and support to students. I believe that what really helps students to progress is an understanding of exam technique. Having knowledge of the subject is important, but knowing how to handle it and use it in an exam situation if key to gaining top grades. Personal Description:
I come from a mixed Spanish/Argentinian family, which has provided me with an insight into both cultures and language varieties. Besides enjoying the teaching of the beautiful Spanish language, I love traveling and experiencing different cultures: in the last 10 years, through my studies and job opportunities, I have had the chance to live in Portugal, Slovenia, Argentina, the U.K. and Algeria, besides 4 different Spanish cities. Even though I am moving less in the last years because I now have a kid, I still enjoy very much the cultural richness breathed in music and movies, as well as personal development activities, such as Biodanza. I started teaching Spanish in 2005 while living in Slovenia. I did not imagine the rich universe behind this task. Since then I have done many teacher training courses, the last one a Master Teacher Training for Teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language in University of Barcelona, finished in July 2011. In the last 7 years I worked at Instituto Cervantes, Kings College London, Merton Adult Education College, among others. I also started teaching online in 2008, working as a freelancer for Telelangue and Learship, the top European e-learning providers. The online methodology is the one I use now. I also work in the organization of language learning and cultural trips to Spain.

Tutoring Approach:

Student needs defines a different course for each individual, so during our first meeting we will discuss this. From there, according to the goals, background and personality of each learner, I create a course to address your needs. Classes are dynamic, fun, as well as following the learners pace. The great thing about this system is that we can stop at any point to clarify and explain further and again any challenging topic. We can work in mini projects to help you produce you own language from the first day. I believe in the independence on the learner and provide you with tools for building your own skills. I use a very user-friendly web based virtual classroom where we meet and speak live one-to-one during the whole class, seeing each other through our webcams, while working collaboratively on graphic materials.

Teaching Experience:

My initial teaching experience was with 'Le Club Francais' where I was in charge of a weekly after school club of 5 - 11 year olds. This was great fun as learning was channelled through games.
My friend's son had extra lessons after school to pass his oral French which he did with flying colours and commendation from his teacher.
A teacher from a nearby school wanted to move to France, so asked for help with pronunciation and grammar.
I have also translated a marketing leaflet for a company in Bradford and am the voice at the end of a help line for French speaking residents who wish to move house.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that enjoyment is the motivation for learning. To make sure that a lesson is visually, orally and kinaesthetically appealing to students will ensure maximum attention span and maximise learning and long term memory retention. I have quite an approachable personality and am a good listener, which is important in establishing boundaries (for both learner and teacher) and to iron out any potential problems or misunderstandings that could arise. I hold a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), a PGCE English and a 2:1 BA (Honours) degree in English. I hold current CRB/police check and I am eligible to work in the UK.

Personal Description:
A Master of Mathematics graduate from UEA in Norwich, with a year studying in Melbourne Australia. I have great experience tutoring with various age groups and personalities.

I have enjoyed tutoring part time and full time for the past few years whilst learning a Postgraduate Diploma course since University. I was subsequently contracted in by a local college to provide individual and group tutoring sessions to underachieving students, during and after school.

Teaching Experience:

I started tutoring GCSE maths in Year 13, providing a very structured learning by my school. The students engaged well and it helped to have people of a similar age that the students could relate to, enabling a more relaxed learning atmosphere. I also informally helped peers of various levels whilst at university, maths students but also engineering and foundation levels. When my services were required in a particular area, then they asked for help on short notice.

On top of this I've been tutoring over the past 4 years, usually working 7 days a week from the new year onward. Peak hours ranged in excess of 40hrs of tutoring for several months. I've therefore assessed the likely weaknesses of a student and have already provided and perfected methods of explanation.

Tutoring Approach:

Can look at casual tutoring of areas of difficulty, or can do more structured learning of a curriculum, either intense learning or weekly troubleshooting. I've established good quality material for any level. Plenty of students just require good material and direction for their efforts.

The first meeting will be free with the aim of getting to know one another and the strengths and weaknesses of the tutee, and at what pace the student requires. At which point a structured plan of action can be drawn up. In some cases the tutee may lack the confidence in areas, but can in fact do what's required. Even a casual troubleshooting session every now and then can set their worries at rest.

Should extracurricular material be required or wanted then I'll be happy to provide. This material might not be hard for the tutee, but will help link in various areas of mathematics and will require a little thought about the patterns seen.

I am a fully qualified secondary school art teacher, and university lecturer in History of Art. I completed my PhD in History of Art at University College London (UCL) in 2013. I have published my research in a number of academic journals and edited book collections, and I am currently a Research Fellow at Cornell University Society for the Humanities, USA.

I'm currently based in the United States until December 12th 2016, and I'm presently offering Skype tutorials only until this time. As of December 12th - January 13th I will be based in Hulme, Manchester and can travel up to 20 miles from the city centre, or meet students at my central Manchester art studio. I'm available for Skype appointments at any time, taking into account the time difference.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully trained secondary school teacher, specialising in Art & Design and Photography at KS3, KS4 & KS5. I have 10 years teaching experience, including working as a specialist Learning Support Teacher, and in Special Needs schools catering for children and young adults with a range of special educational needs, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple disabilities.

I have particular expertise in studio practice (art and design), digital and darkroom photography (theory, history and practice), literacy, social and vocational skills, as well as History of Art, Anthropology and History of Medicine at undergraduate level.

I am also experienced in teaching at undergraduate level, having taught gallery-based first year History of Art courses, for University College London's History of Art Department, and on the History of Art degree programme at the University of Manchester.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a one-to-one, flexible approach to learning and teaching, which first establishes the needs and goals of the student, and then sets out clearly structured strategies for achieving these goals. These may be results-focused when preparing for exams, or aimed at developing a broader understanding of a subject area, depending upon the student's own priorities. I am happy to work with any course materials the student may provide, and I am familiar with all current GCSE and A Level syllabuses. I am able to guide both GCSE and A Level students through their studies, offering consistent, dedicated 1-2-1 tuition for the full term of the course. I can also provide practical tuition for students who are preparing their art portfolios for University submission, and can offer assistance with UCAS forms and references for students who undertake long-term A Level tuition with me.

Tutoring may take place at the student's home, or at my art studio in central Manchester, where I can provide a range of art materials and resources by prior arrangement, for more intensive practical art sessions. Please note that I can travel within 20 miles of central Manchester based on the fee structure quoted below, travelling further will incur a small additional fuel fee.

I have had recent successes with my private students, one of whom attended one-to-one sessions at my Manchester studio for 8 weeks and improved her predicted GCSE Art result of a B by two grades, achieving an A* in her final art exam. My most recent undergraduate students have also attained First class results in their undergraduate degrees. One student achieved a high score of 78 on her History of Art dissertation project with intensive tutorial support conducted via Skype; and another progressed from a fail during the first year of his Visual Communication degree, to a First class final result in his third year, following 2 years of regular commitment to one-to-one tutoring.

I have had much help from tutors throughout my academic life so I can understand the value that is offered to a tutee by receiving extra tuition in this way. I am currently studying a Ph.D in Medical Science at Aberdeen University and studied my undergraduate degree here also gaining a 2.1 in my honours degree in Biomedical Science (physiology). The hours spent doing work towards my doctorate is fairly flexible and I have a car meaning my ability to fit around the schedule of others is very good. Teaching Experience:

I was Biology prefect in my final year at school which involved helping to teach classes up until fourth year. I also carried out some work experience teaching primary school children PE and as part of my Ph.D I will be demonstrating for and tutoring first and second year undergraduates at the university. I have also had vast one on one tutoring experience from 13+ maths and science to standard grade/intermediate physics to advanced higher/A-level Biology and Chemistry.

I have worked in both primary and secondary schools as a teaching assistant. This was primarily in art in the secondary school, teaching children how to draw and use various materials to create great artwork. N.B. for all learners: Depending on your language goals, objectives and choices, some lessons may vary in difficulty because of their specific objectives, and therefore fall into different level categories (see below for pricing categories). I base the levels upon the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the international standard for describing language abilities. Overall, lessons will tend to fall within a single level category, but it is also common that the context focus is switched to different, more challenging, levels due to the progress made. If you are unsure which specific level will be applicable to you, or want to check in advance how pricing may vary with particular lessons, please do not hesitate to contact me for further information where I will be happy to advise.

Upon finding out what your languages goals are, I offer a personalised learning programme to suit your style, with lessons adapted to focus on specific areas. I ensure learning is not only active and engaging, but also relevant and progress-focused to help you understand the bigger picture and in-depth components of your language learning, and to stretch your abilities with proven results. As well as listening, reading, writing and grammar, I build in a lot of conversational practice to enable you to move from strength to strength with confidence.

To ensure continuous progress, consistency is essential and I recommend 2 hours of tuition per week, with 2 hours of homework. I find that tutoring over a longer period is a much more successful way to engage learners and keep, rather than exhaust, their attention.

I arrange to meet learners in a location that suits us both. The initial meeting is free and I start by giving you further information and assessing your current language level.
I teach everyday from 9am-8pm, so I can work around your schedule.
