Personal Description:
I am a young, female primary school teacher in the Doncaster/Wakefield area. Aside from my enthusiasm for teaching and helping children to achieve, I am interested in academic areas including sociology and languages. I enjoy travel and reading. I have worked voluntarily as a teaching assistant and completed a degree in Sociology before training to be a teacher. I now work as a supply teacher at primary level and as a personal tutor to primary and secondary level children. I hold an enhanced DBS check dated September 2015.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified primary school teacher who has taught classes of all ages at primary level. As a supply teacher, I have worked in many different schools and, as such, I develop positive relationships very quickly with both children and adults. I enjoy working with individuals and small groups in academic tasks and find that children are very responsive to this lower teacher-pupil ratio. I have found that working in these situations really helps to boost children's concentration and confidence in their work. They also feel more comfortable to ask questions in areas they find difficult. When tutoring, I am to create a positive, friendly and professional relationship where children feel comfortable with what they are learning, but also feel they can ask for help when required.

Tutoring Approach:

I recognise that children learn in many different ways - some by seeing and visualising, some by talking and discussing, and some by doing a physical or mental activity. I aim to tutor children using the learning style that best suits them. In a classroom, it is often difficult to meet the needs of every child. Personal tuition provides children with valuable one-to-one time, where the focus is on them and them alone. I believe that personal tuition does much to increase achievement in those weaker areas, but also serves to challenge and develop knowledge in stronger areas. Following a free initial consultation, I provide personalised programmes of study tailored exactly to meet the needs of the child involved. I am passionate about helping children to reach their full potential and will do all I can to make this happen. Sessions take place in the child's own home and are arranged on a flexible basis with parent or guardian. I can provide tuition from 30 minutes per week to more intensive programmes consisting of several hours per week in the school holidays.

I currently have slots available on weekday evenings and am available most Saturday mornings and early afternoon. I am not available on Sundays.

Personal Description:
Love all sports - particularly football, rugby, athletics.
Love Theatre & Drama
Devoted Family Man

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching undergraduates in Psychology & statistics at Sunderland University but then became a full time teacher of Psychology in 1994 after completing my PGCE. By 1997 I was Head of Psychology at a large Sixth Form College & I became a Senior Tutor in 2000. In 2005 I was promoted to lead Pastoral Care in one of the largest sixth form colleges in the country. In 2001 I took up the role of Psychology Examiner for the OCR board and served for 6 years before leaving formal teaching in 2007. Since then I have set up a training company delivering courses to teachers in one-to-one guidance. In 2014, I re-visited the role of Psychology Examiner for OCR & I am currently expanding my commitment to assessment and have recently completed an additional qualification for OCR.

Tutoring Approach:

Every learner is different & it follows that the reasons for struggling with a subject are different. Therefore it is crucial for a tutor to understand the students' approach to study in order to design appropriate sessions to enable progress in that subject. For me, knowing the student is just as important as knowing the subject.
Exam Focus. To achieve the higher grades at Psychology, you have to be confident with independent critical analysis. By focusing our sessions on the higher skills involved in psychology - research methods, ethics, issues, etc - you will develop your confidence in this area.

Personal Description:
I am a 49-year-old female, I completed my degree in Applied Computing & Business. I have a Fento Teaching Qualification that allows me to teach children as well as adults, and a Bilingual Assistant & Interpreter Qualification. Previously I have worked in schools as a Bilingual Assistant / Interpreter.

I am very motivated & hardworking as tutoring is my passion. I make learning fun, whilst providing an appropriate, balanced and challenging curriculum to my student. I am well known for achieving great results with all my students as well as having a High Pass Rate on 11+ & Entrance Exams.

Teaching Experience:

I have 16 years of experience in tutoring for Entrance Exams and 11+. I also have over 2 years experience of supporting special needs children as a Bilingual Assistant at a primary school in Stockport. I have worked voluntarily at MGS Boys Junior School in Classes 3 - 6.

I specialise in CEM - MATH'S - VERBAL - NON-VERBAL & ENGLISH, all School Entrance Exams in Greater Manchester and surrounding Areas. Subjects also covered are Preparation and exams for KS1 KS2 and SATs. I am confident in my subjects and in using my skills as I have helped several children achieve great pass results and achieve full scholarship for Grammar Schools & 11+ entrance exams.

My Prices can be seen below.
I do offer a discount for 2-hour sessions and also bulk bookings.
Earlier starting times in holidays are available 9.00am - 7.00pm

Tutoring Approach:

I try to be a role model for my students and help them by building trusting relationships between the student, myself and their Parents. By providing regular feedback, and information in which the student can achieve their goals, and ensuring we work together to help the children achieve their targets.

Greater results are achieved when there is a strong bonding between the tutor, child & Parents. I also appreciate that all children have different needs and learning styles and I tailor my sessions to each child's individuals needs.

Every child understands and works at a different pace & Level, so I explain a topic in a way that makes sense to them rather then the way a teacher would explain. If the child feels relaxed with me, they are more likely to learn something. I do use Digital Media or a Whiteboard if and when needed.

Personal Description:
I am a doctor in Social Anthropology with an interest in education, philosophy, politics, religion, science, culture, health and illness. I gained my PhD in Medical Anthropology about three years ago from the University of Edinburgh, where I have also taught undergraduate students. I have since then worked as a researcher, firstly as a consultant for international organisations on projects on chronic malnutrition in developing countries and most recently as a post-doctoral researcher and also academic teacher for the University of Oxford. I worked in both department of Primary Health Care and Social Anthropology. I currently live in Wokingham and I am planning to move to Guernsey with my husband at the beginning of December.

Teaching Experience:

I always used to help my school classmates with their homework and exams, especially those with learning difficulties. During my final year at university I started giving Italian private lessons to help me financially and I really enjoyed the experience. During my doctorate degree I had the opportunity to teach undergraduate students and also attend teaching training courses to improve my teaching skills. During the final year I started tutoring A level students in Spanish, Psychology and Sociology and they all passed their exams with very high marks. I also supported MSc and PhD students with their thesis both in Psychology and Marketing. During my last post at the University of Oxford I had the opportunity again to teach undergraduate students and attended a 'Developing Learning and Teaching programme' in order to qualify as an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is very much based on bringing forth the full potential of the student. In essence is based on finding the right balance between structure and meeting the personal needs of the student. Thus, giving the right importance to knowledge but, at the same time, also to raising the student's confidence and interest on the subject.

Personal Description:
I am a relaxed and easy-going person but very enthusiastic about my subjects: Drama, English and R.E. I have a Master's Degree in Drama education from Warwick University and am now a professional actor. My Bachelor's degree is in Drama and Theology from Surrey University.

I can teach all levels in these subjects but specialise in teaching over-18s

If you live in West/Southwest/Central London then I am happy to travel to tutor at your home. I am willing to consider travelling further if required.

Teaching Experience:

Since 1990 I have been teaching English, Drama and R.E to a wide range of age groups from 7 to 18, with excellent results in public examinations. I have also tutored adults in these subjects at GCSE and A Level, and for university/O.U./higher education assignments.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very aware that an adult's educational needs differ from those of the child's, and my approach is directed towards making the adult learner and the university student comfortable in the learning environment. Whether providing in-depth teaching from the basics onwards, or support for existing course assignments and projects I provide sensitive and thorough support. I am a trustworthy, hard-working and conscientious person. I am a quick learner with an exemplary timekeeping and attendance record. I take satisfaction in achieving high standards in any task I undertake, and possess a methodical and organised working approach. Equally capable of working both within a team and on an individual basis, my communication, interpersonal skills and knowledge enable me to interact with colleagues at all levels within the workplace. I love work with children from nursery, preschool and primary school up to stage 1.

Teaching Experience:

One very special working experience achievement was with children y3-4 and y5-6 in a primary school. I was not only teaching Italian Language but I was involved as producer and director of Goldilocks and the three bears in the Italian spoken language which has never been done before as a movie.
Date: from March to April 2005.
Actors were primary school children, which have been selected from the Head Teacher and me. I have trained them every week from March to April 2005 to play on different set. (Drama lessons included). The movie has been filmed in July 2005.
My experience was not only as an Italian Teacher but director and producer and composer for the editing of background music and special audio effects. This is the first time I have made my first movie. (17 minutes footage).
Sponsor for the project and investor was the Italian Consulate of Manchester (U.K.). Very good reward and payment + bonus for the hard work I have done in those months.

Personal Description:
I am a 29 year old female. I have worked with children for a number of years now in the mainstream high school setting. I'm always studying myself, I recently completed a basic counselling skills course and I'm currently in the middle of an art-it's place in therapy course.

I'm currently working within a mainstream high school as a communication support worker, for students on the autism spectrum. I am enthusiastic and passionate about education. I want to support my students to achieve their full potential.

I am available during school holidays for tutoring during the day, or it's evenings and weekends.

Teaching Experience:

I started working with inclusion doing art projects with students who have behaviour difficulties; then went on to be a teaching assistant supporting all academic areas on the curriculum with children aged 10-17. I can differentiate work down to very low levels and am aware of the current curriculum. I have worked with students of many abilities and was a key worker for a child who's Downs Syndrome.
I still work in mainstream but I'm now a specialist in autism, working with children on the autistic spectrum daily. I am aware of the challenges my students face with accessing work on the curriculum as well as the social side of things.

I have also supported my school by covering art lessons and helping students with coursework and homework.

I offer tutoring in the following areas:
-Reading & Writing Skills: reading feedback and writing for coursework (essay, report, article for publication, research)
-Study skills: how to read critically and how to write, making presentations, etc.

-Craft & Design: design process, presentation/rendering, Design and Technology, paper craft

-Art: Acrylic painting, Drawings and Rendering, Making Physical and 3D Models and crafts, Sketch book, Design Portfolio ( to help developing your portfolio for college or university interviews)

-Special needs: Differentiation for any subject up to GCSE/A'level and within the arts at university level working with students on homework, coursework and presentations who have learning difficulties.

Tutoring Approach:

I always wanted to be an art teacher, that's why I went to university, but over the years working in a school I realised what I could achieve by remaining at the support level. I can give more of my time to small groups and 1:1, a lot more than a teacher can as I don't have all the paperwork and other commitments to many students that they have.

My aim as a tutor is to make art accessible and give my students confidence. Over the years I've seen lots of students feel like their work isn't good enough; I can support them by teaching the basic skills and building on their existing knowledge.

I am a very patient & positive tutor who can explain concepts in a way which can be understood by my students.

Personal Description:
I'm 49 years old and I've worked with children and young people in various settings since I was a teenager myself. This includes youth camps/expeditions for children from deprived backgrounds and musical evenings in half-way houses for young people with emotional problems. I've also worked full-time for 17 years with children with learning difficulties, Autism, and challenging behaviour in both special schools and in a community outreach role.

I have recently graduated with first class honours in Geoscience, and I'm very interested in science in general, ever keen to learn more about the world/universe from a rational perspective. I love to travel, combining meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures, along with new environments, different animals and different rocks! I also love music and to play the piano, guitar and ukulele.

I am positive, calm, patient, adaptable and responsive to individual needs and enjoy supporting people to overcome their challenges.

Teaching Experience:

In addition to my youth work experience, I lived in Seville for nearly 3 years, teaching English as a foreign language, mainly to young adults in a language school and in 1:1 private tutoring. Within my experience in special schools I have taught pupils on a one to one basis and taken small groups.

Tutoring Approach:

In my experience both as a teacher and from my varied learning experiences, self-esteem and confidence is the most important basis for successful learning, combined with actually enjoying the experience. I endeavour to enhance both. I adapt my approach and strategies to meet the needs of each individual.

Personal Description:
I am 21 years old, calm, confident and friendly. I am very passionate about mathematics. I am very patient, especially because I know how much is expected of students nowadays.

Teaching Experience:

I studied GCSEs at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School for 5 years, and then I studied A Levels at Clitheroe Royal Grammar Sixth Form for 2 years.
I have tutored some of my relatives before, mostly for Maths at GCSE level, but I have also tutored them for Biology, Chemistry and Physics GCSEs on multiple occasions.
For Maths, I am familiar with the OCR specification for GCSE, and the Edexcel specification for A Level.
For Chemistry and Biology I am familiar with the AQA specification, both at GCSE and A Level.

Tutoring Approach:

Everyone is different and learns in their own way; my aim is to find a style of learning that best suits each student, and also to identify any topics they may be struggling with and work on them.
I aim to develop good relationships with my students in order to make them feel comfortable. From my personal experience, I know that anyone's ability to learn is improved when they are more relaxed. I want to ensure that the learning environment is suitable for the student to maximise their potential.
I like to ensure that the student has a fundamental understanding of a topic before moving on to exam technique, exam style questions and revision.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Modern Foreign Languages teacher with experience of teaching Key Stage 3, GCSE, AS and A Level at secondary school and tutoring English, French and Spanish privately.

I am a hard-working and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about teaching and modern foreign languages. Therefore, in addition to teaching French and Spanish in secondary schools, I have also started a language tuition business so that I can support people with their language learning and development of their linguistic skills.

Teaching Experience:

- During my teacher training, I worked at two secondary schools where I taught French and Spanish to Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and I also spent a few days working in a primary school observing and assisting teachers.

- During my NQT year, I worked at a secondary school in Trowbridge where I taught Spanish to Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and French to Key Stage 3.

- As part of my Spanish degree, I worked as an English Language Assistant in a school in Madrid for an academic year.

- I have worked part time as a tutor from the age of 16 teaching French, Spanish and English.

- I have also recently become an External Examiner for Edexcel (one of the main British exam boards) which has given me more insight into what examiners look for in successful candidates.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly and enthusiastic teacher as I believe that it is important to have a fun and positive atmosphere where my students can feel comfortable, gain confidence and also have a bit of fun.

Personal Description:
The social sciences are my expertise. In particular, cinema and art history with critical theory. I have extensive research experience in continental philosophy (Kant, Hegel, Marx, Althusser, Deleuze, Adorno, Badiou, etc.) and am well-versed in a wide-range of media and art theory topics (e.g. modernity, medium specificity, globalisation, avant-gardes, etc.).

I have a decade of experience as a media producer for various web and radio enterprises, and have written professionally for a range of digital publications.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 5 years of experience tutoring across the subjects listed in my profile. And I have also advised successfully on essays, coursework, dissertations and exam preparation from A-level to postgraduate level.

Coursework, essays and dissertation topics I have recently supervised:

- The semiotics of Barthes and Jakobsen
- Base, superstructure and ideological state apparatuses between Marx and Althusser
- The 'wilderness cosmology' of Daoism in classical Chinese Poetry
- Social unrest and China's modernisation project in the cinema of Jia Zhangke
- A comparative political analysis of Halklarin Demokratik Partisi and Ciudadanos
- Jean Baudrillard's concept of Hyperreality and 'The Truman Show'
- Phenomenology and Bad Faith between Edmund Husserl and Jean-Paul Sartre
- Postmodern urbanism and the cinema of Neill Blomkamp
- The Fauvist revolution in modern painting
- The Printing Press and media theory since Elizabeth Eisenstein
- Consumerism, and the media spectacle in urban Chengdu
- The fashion film and the "bad bitch": post-feminist representation in contemporary Hollywood cinema

Do contact me to discuss your specific essay, presentation or dissertation needs.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer two types of tuition: online (text-based) and in-person (verbal).

Online tuition is the most efficient method for written assignment preparation; superior in my experience than in-person tuition since the student is naturally obliged to articulate concepts, issues and questions directly in the written form that they are required to submit their essays, dissertations, and coursework in. This avoids the extra labour of translating verbal communication to written communication and vice-versa, which slows progress. I conduct online tuition via Skype, which is free to download and use.

In-person tuition is, however, better suited and encouraged for verbal assignments, like presentations and language-speaking practice.

Regardless of type, I always apply a needs-based approach to tuition; allowing my students' needs to dictate pace and intensity. I can, therefore, work closely on particular syllabus material in relation to coursework and exams, or take a broader approach to adult and casual learning.

I offer a full range of help on written work, from "brainstorming", essay or dissertation plans, literature reviews, primary-source gathering, all the way to polishing up the final draft before submission. All written work that I proof-read and supervise will be returned with in-line annotations (using MS Word or LibreOffice's comments and tracked-changes) offering detailed criticisms and suggestions on how to improve anything from grammar, structure, analysis, tone, argument and so forth. I also work fast: written work received before noon can be expected back the same day.

Personal Description:
I have a Bachelor of Science with majors in Geography and Geology. After working in the field of geoscience for several years I wanted a new challenge and have a new passion for education.

Teaching Experience:

For the past year I have been working as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a secondary school. In this role I primarily teach maths. I also teach geography, science and English.

There is a wide variety in the learning needs of my individual students. This has given me an understanding of how to tailor learning to the needs of an individual student.

The mid-level GCSE Mathematics class that I assist attained a 97% pass-rate in GCSE Higher Mathematics. Two year 10 SEN students that I have worked closely with both received a C mark in GCSE statistics, after showing vast improvement over the academic year.

During the previous school year I tutored an A Level geography student. She received an A grade in her final exam. I also tutored two year 11 mathematics students who received a B and C grade respectively.

During my time in third and fourth year at university I tutored several first year geology students.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that each student has the potential to achieve the grade that they are aiming for. In a lot cases though their learning needs to be supported and nurtured in the right way to help them achieve this.

I aim to identify strengths and weaknesses that each individual student possesses. By helping a student consolidate their strengths and by tackling their weaknesses head on I believe that I can help them improve markedly in a short period of time. I also aim to help a student put into place new skills that will help them improve their level of independence while learning. These skills are important to learn and are relevant in many aspects of life.

Personal Description:
I am freelance Tutor, Traner and Consultant for GCSE O & A level economics, business and maths for all exam boards. I also provider students assignment support in BA projects and dissertation for undergragrauates and postgraduate students in business and health management and social care including nursing. I also help students with data analysis using SPSS

Teaching Experience:

My background is medicine and moved to business specialising in services marketing. I have years of experience as a clinical bedside instructor for medical and nursing students then later spent years as training consultant for health care professionals. I have also worked as senior lecturer for Glyndwr university London campus teaching BA and MBA programme and project and dissertation supervision in business and health care management related subjects. I have been a private tutor since 1999.

Tutoring Approach:

I use student problem identified approach which means I encourage students to identify and communicate to me what they are experiencing as a problem and then based either on one to one or small group, I focus on these specified identified problems. The benefits of this approach is that it encourages the student to study and also provides me the basis for my own assessment to whether my tutorial has made a difference.
