Personal Description:
I am married with two young children. I enjoy all sports and travelling.

Teaching Experience:

I am Head of Chemistry at a large 14-18 Leicestershire Upper School. I have taught at this school for 20 years. I teach GCSE and A-Level Chemistry. I have about 18 years tutoring experience with much success. As well as teaching AQA A-level and GCSE Chemistry, I have tutored OCR, Salters and EDEXCEL. Indeed, one of my private students achieved 100% in an A-level Chemistry module last year and this year another student achieved 100% in an AQA GCSE Chemistry module. My students consistently achieve over 90% in examinations.
I do tutor all abilities and all my students reach their potential and beyond.
I am Principal Examiner for IGCSE Chemistry (Foundation) for Cambridge International Examinations. I also set GCSE Chemistry Questions and check question papers before they are sat.
Recently, I have been tutoring students in preparation for the Chemistry component of the GAMSAT Examination - used as a route into medicine by some students.
I also use Skype and email for online tutoring. Recently I have been tutoring a student using Skype. This has proved very successful and means that I can now offer tuition to students without any travelling involved or who live just too far away from me to travel. If you would like to try this as an option please get in touch with me. I can definitely recommend tutoring by Skype - try it if you live too far to travel.

Tutoring Approach:

I think the key to excellent examination results is confidence in being able to tackle the questions set. I, therefore, focus on passed papers alongside the teaching of the theory. I expect the students to ask about parts they do not understand and build on this whilst building up their understanding and knowledge.

Personal Description:
I am a professional, having graduated from the University of Manchester with an MSc in Quantitative Finance and a graduate of BSc Electrical Engineering. I secured straight A's in A-levels as well as my GCSEs. I have an open, friendly personality and I teach out of my passion for it.

Teaching Experience:

I have provided private tuition during both my post and undergraduate studies. I taught GCSE Physics and Chemistry and grade 6 to 8 Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology and English.

Tutoring Approach:

I am flexible to adapt my teaching style to the requirement of the student. Being a student myself, I easily relate to my students and know how to address most of their problems. I am willing to put in extra time in order to clarify concepts and do not hesitate if I myself face a problem that I am not able to solve. I teach out of a passion for it and do not view it as any other 'job'. While maintaining an amicable relation with my student, I do not compromise on discipline and wasting time.

Personal Description:
I am 56 years old, am a qualified teacher with 15 years experience. I am an easy-going reliable person who likes to make my students feel at ease at all times.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching seconday school students since qualifying in 1998. I have had two full-time posts, worked as a supply teacher as well as having private students. I have worked in Inner London, Outer London, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire schools. I have also worked in France at a small private school during the '80's, predominantly teaching adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach French using the native tongue as much as possible. I use my own resources although I use the Internet for ideas whenever it's suitable.
For Maths I follow the syllabus laid down by whichever examining board the student is using and resources come from a wide variety of places usually from where I have recently been teaching. I gather information from colleagues who sometimes have great ideas. I like to be able to go through past papers with students marking work as we go through a course.

Personal Description:
I am a motivated, organised and friendly young woman. I love working with children and I am passionate about sport. I want to become a teacher and I am currently working as a classroom assistant at a high school. I am mainly in maths supporting foundation and higher curriculum at key stage 3 and 4 . I received an A at maths at GCSE and understand the curriculum fully. I studied Sport Science with Coaching at Northumbria University. I have had substantial experience in numerous schools and with a range of departments. I am very capable of working one on one with children and also with groups of children.

Teaching Experience:

I have had work placements at Haydon Bridge High School teaching P.E to ages 13-18 for a period of 6 weeks, then assisting various classes for 75 hours over 4 months. I undertook several roles; teacher, clasroom assistant, organiser of fixtures and one on one tutor. I also returned to Haydon Bridge High school as a volunteer, assisting in P.E lessons.
I am currently emplyed as a classroom assistant at Queen Elizabeth High school. My main role is to work with one or two children with Special Educational Needs within the classroom supporting their learning. I may also have to work with a whole class, supporting all the children. It is vital for my role that I understand and can teach the curriculum, as I may have to work outside the classroom with the child and will need to tutor them in that subject area. The majority of the students I am currently working with have made progress since I have been put with them and other students are asking to be placed with me or for me to put on revision sessions for them.

Tutoring Approach:

Every child is unique. They each have their own way of learning and have different abilities in a variety of areas. This can not always be addressed within a school environment, as it can be difficult to differentiate the topic which is being taught to a large number of pupils. I understand that each child will work at a different rate therefore my rate and style of teaching will alter to suit the student. I believe that tutoring is about guiding a child to find their own way towards an answer and not making them follow your way as they may not understand the process which you have followed. I can also comprehend the amount of work which students are having to complete weekly, thus I would not supply them with a large workload alongside their normal studies.

Personal Description:
I have a degree both in English and Turkish languages. I teach English and Turkish to second language speakers.I have 2 years teaching experience in Turkey and 15 years in the UK.I teach Turkish in Beginners, Intermediate, advanced and proficiency levels. The lessons are specifically prepared according to the learners' abilities as each individual is different and has different learning skills. Unfortunately fun based Turkish language resources are very limited in the market. Therefore I make my own fun resources using the same ideas in English teaching so the learners do activities that are fun and they are familiar with.

Teaching Experience:

Professional Interpreter,Diploma in Public Service Interpreting-British Law (DPSI)
GCSE Maths and English support

I make my own resources and displays to make my teaching as visual and kinaesthetic as possible.

Personal Description:
I'm a friendly, qualified teacher, currently working in a London secondary school teaching RS, Philosophy and English. I studied Theology and Religious Studies at Cambridge (First) and I initially moved to London to do an MA in International Politics and Human Rights at City University. I caught the London bug so I'm still here! I really enjoy the opportunity it offers to teach students from a whole range of backgrounds and abilities. I have always loved learning, and I love helping children develop their understanding of the world through their chosen subjects, so I find tutoring really rewarding.

I am both professional and personable, and have always had good relationships with my tutees and their parents.

Teaching Experience:

I have a lot of experience with children through nannying and youth camps I've helped on over the past 10 years, and also have experience tutoring 1-1 in London on a weekly basis. I did my teacher training in Tower Hamlets 2 years ago, and have been working as a teacher since. I achieved 'Outstanding' or 'Good' standards in all lessons that were observed during my training.

I am passionate about the importance of education, for building both competence and confidence into children and young adults.

The Cambridge supervision system showed me how beneficial individual tutoring can be. I had two 1-1 sessions every week with my subject supervisors, which taught me first hand how to inspire, challenge and build confidence in the tutor-tutee relationship.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to have a preliminary discussion (usually by phone, but in person is also fine) with the student's parent(s) to find out about the student's level of understanding, capability and confidence, as well as their main goals and any relevant exam board they are attached to. I will tailor my approach on this basis, as well as through meeting the student and talking about what s/he finds interesting and how s/he learns best.

The method of teaching will vary between pupils as well as between subjects, most markedly between languages and sciences. However, common methods used will be explaining and clarifying any 'sticking points', going through set questions and reviewing the answers, and using creative means to bring the subject to life for the student. I strongly believe that when a student enjoys the learning process and achieves set goals, however small, his/her learning is much faster and memory is greatly improved.

Personal Description:
I got a bachelor's degree in political sciences and a master's degree in international relations at the University of Cagliari (Italy) with 110/110 as a final grade. My studies, together with the international experience of "Erasmus" in Romania, made me discover many sides of the political mechanisms, the cultures and the economies of different countries and areas of the world.
I reckon myself as a very easygoing and motivated person, always ready to cooperate with the workmates. Enthusiastic about the life and the new experiences, always keen to improve myself specially in the relations with the others.

Teaching Experience:

From 2007, in Italy, I started to provide private lessons of different subjects to young students, then in London I have privately helped foreign people in the study of the Italian language. The teaching training course which I followed at International House has given to me, in three months, the chance to learn, improve and practice important techniques in real classes, five lessons for beginners and six for intermediate students: Both execution and planning of a lesson have been tested with good results and personal satisfaction. I can prepare different levels of lessons for groups, business classes or one-to-one, following at the same time the logic and the variety.

Tutoring Approach:

The first goal of a tutor is to help the student as much as he can. Who is learning does not have to feel under pressure or under examination, so it is important to be relaxed and to prepare a logic lesson with exercises that can help the student step by step to build a knowledge of the language. It is essential also to provide adapt material, following the variety of the activities in order to avoid the repetitions which could be boring for the student. The enthusiasm and the motivation of the tutor are absolutely the first steps to provide a good result.

Personal Description:
Currently in my 2nd year at the University of Warwick , reading Classical Civilization. The course includes Ancient Greek and Latin Modules so am very confident in languages.
Interested in teaching post degree due to my enthusiasm for working with young people

Teaching Experience:

Recently came back from a volunteering programme in India which involved teaching various subjects and skills at a disabled school.
Latin tutor for 3 years to younger students during senior school.
Currently a Classics mentor to 1st year student at Warwick University

Tutoring Approach:

There in no fixed approach to teaching, especially with languages . In my lessons I tailor to the individual, as I have found that every person will learn and respond in a different manner. Latin is constantly being described as a boring "dead subject" and so I would aim to make the classes as enjoyable as possible, thinking of initiative and create ways to teach.
In the first class my priority would be to discover and understand the areas which the tuttee struggles in to ensure I will be effectively helping them.

I am a French national who has lived in England for more than 25 years. I am passionate about languages and how we learn them and the impact this learning has on our ability to study/think better. So many transferable skills!

My other interests are unsurprisingly travelling and reading. My second love is teaching Yoga, relaxation and meditation.

Learning is definitely a life long experience.

Tutoring Approach:

Relaxed but organized and effective. Learning is fun especially when successful. Progress brings success. We all have different ways of learning, different "intelligence" once met there is no real limit to what we can achieve.

As a tutor, I will devise and teach a program that is effective for you and your preferred learning style(s) and your requirement(s) whether learning for pleasure, business, exams etc or a mixture of all of these and more.

Personal Description:
First half hour free - This is an opportunity for you to decide if you are happy with me and my teaching methods and also for me to assess your level and expectations.

I am a friendly native Mandarin Chinese speaker with Chinese Teacher Training Qualification from the Beijing Language and Culture University. I am also a fully qualified Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor. In addition to teaching, I love reading and writing.

BBC reports: "Researchers in Britain have found that people who speak Mandarin Chinese use both sides of their brain to understand the language. This compares to English-language speakers who only need to use one side of their brain." Chinese characters are logograms instead of phonics; I would love to help you explore the fun facts and culture meaning behind the scene. Using both sides of the brain will help in other areas of learning.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching Chinese to Korean students in China in 1992. Before moving to Layer-de-la-Haye, I taught in a Chinese School in Hampshire for one year for children from aged 6 to 10. I have the experience of making the lessons fun and attractive for the children. For Adults, I will tailor lessons to suit your specific purpose: Tourism, Business, Universal and Academic. I have also given Chinese culture lectures in both primary schools and colleges.I am teaching students GCSE mandarin in Chinese School. I have experience to help students to get ready for their GCSE exam.

Tutoring Approach:

Every lesson will be tailor-made to satisfy individual needs, interest and skill level. It is important to me that you not only enjoy the classes but also see your Chinese develop.

Lessons will cover any or all of the scope you require: talking and listening, reading and writing.

I am also very happy to teach Chinese Philosophy and Chinese Medicine if you have big passion in the Chinese Culture. The essence of Chinese Philosophy is helping gain inner strength and peace of mind. The Chinese Medicine is a natural way to keep healthy.

Personal Description:
I consider myself to be articulate, eloquent and competent in the field of literacy. I have a great love of the written word and all forms of creative writing. I am a firm believer that the use of comprehensively impeccable speech and literacy can substantially improve ones progression in any field, be it professional or personal. Mastering the use of the English language and being able to articulate ones thoughts via speech or written correspondence is an invaluable life skill. I have always loved to read, write and study all aspects of literature and media. I have spent time as a critic, a reviewer and a freelance writer, as I revel in any opportunity to write.

Teaching Experience:

I have privately tutored individuals who wished to improve their ability to write. I assisted in all manner of writing; for example, I tutored university students in writing papers, assessments, personal statements, Curriculum Vitae and course work. I taught students at GCSE, A Level and Primary level how to study literature, history and media and produce competent work for educational and personal use.

Tutoring Approach:

I would be forever grateful for the opportunity to share my love of the English language and help those struggling in the field, or wish to enhance their ability.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of the University of York, receiving a BA (Hons) in Linguistics. I possess experience of teaching at a range of levels from KS2 (SATs) to KS5 (A-Level), as well as having worked in an advisory role for UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).

Teaching Experience:

During the past 5 years, I have gained experience of teaching English from KS2 (SATs) to KS5 (A-Level). In this time, I have taught numerous pupils on a one-to-one basis as well as having lectured to much larger groups of students.

Tutoring Approach:

I work full time as a tutor and run my own business - BTC Education. As such, my availability to work comprises the whole week, and I aim to fit in with the respective schedules of my students when my own schedule permits. I also work as an Educational Consultant.

I tutor from my own home and as such I do not travel. I also do not tutor via an online medium because, from my own experience, I do not believe it to be an effective method of teaching.

Personal Description:
Currently, I am a Lecturer at London Metropolitan University in Chemistry (Bachelor level) and Visitor research scientist follow at The Open University. I am a PhD degree (Full-time study) holder in Chemistry from The Open University and Master's and Bachelor degrees in Chemistry from Bordeaux 1 University, France. I have been a tutor in Chemistry, Maths, Physics, French and Arabic with different agencies in London.
I am able to teach Chemistry for all level and Maths, Physics, French and Arabic for GCSE or National 3-5 and Secondary (11 to 14 years) students.

Teaching Experience:

I have taken every opportunity to develop my teaching skills while working at London Metropolitan University and The Open University. These include chemistry laboratory teaching, mentoring and training of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have also participated in various educational projects in other universities. For example, at the University of Bordeaux I, Science and Technology in France,

I strive to vary my teaching style to meet the learning needs of individual students. I have received high performance reviews for my ability to creatively make complex topics manageable. I am patient creative organized and
energetic.
Schools and universities focus on conveying a large amount of information to their students. But for most people that is not enough to create genuine understanding and an ability to answer exam questions. That is why many students, regardless of their ability, seek to get extra help from a private tutor.

My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. My experience has been that one-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students' personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don't lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. Nor do I do the students' homework for them!

I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student's understanding and technique. I also give a lot of emphasis to some of the less obvious but vital skills such as essay structure and technique, logical thought, and the effective use of numbers and graphs.

I believe passionately in the huge value of tutoring to students and take great satisfaction in seeing my students achieve their full potential.

Personal Description:
Hello!
I am from Burgundy in France, I spent five years in an International boarding school (France) and came to London right after my Baccalaureat, I have been here for eight years.
I have a vast knowledge regarding art practice as I have been working in a studio for years as an artist. However, I have chosen to write rather than practice. I have specialised in Contemporary Art Theory because it is for me primordial to consider art within its context. I have studied sociology, philosophy and geopolitics during my Master.
I am highly curious and passionate about Art. My favourite periods are the Renaissance and the 20th century to nowadays. I tend not to be Eurocentric.
My last role was Gallery Manager for an art collector who was hosting private salons and exhibitions. Likewise, I have worked in many galleries in London and Paris.
I aim to work in the education or programming departments of art and cultural institution. I am currently working as a consultant for community centres (from 5 years old to adults) and collaborate with a collective.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in the education department of galleries (Paris and London), and I have been assisting other artists or curating and sometimes facilitating my own participatory projects. In some ways, those projects and workshops are a different type of art classes. I usually work with a maximum of five children and ten adults. I am looking forward to focusing on one single person.

Tutoring Approach:

I would like to meet you a first time (for which the fee would be reduced to £15 because this would not be a teaching session) we would discuss your needs and how I can adapt to them. I am happy to support you in your research or practice, introduce you to art, help you deepen your knowledge or assist you with school projects and exams.
I would create a structure that empowers you, I would not impose anything unless agreed with the parents, and if this the case we will try different approaches until we get an encouraging response.
If preferred, we can skip the first introductory class and jump right into it.
