I do not drive so rely on public transport to get me to and from tutoring jobs, I have put a 10 mile limit on my details but am willing to consider longer distances, however this may incur further travel costs so must be negotiated at the time of booking.

Teaching Experience:

Over 20 years experience teaching 14 years to adults, teaching CV writing (and all areas of Employability), Basic and Soft Skills (including confidence building), Business Enterprise Levels 1, 2 & 3, NVQ Business Administration Levels 1 an 2 and ESOL pre-entry to Level 2.

Qualified to Cert Ed, City & Guilds, along with certified in Teaching Literacy and Numeracy to Adults (9380 series), D32/33 Assessors Award and V1 Internal Verifier Award. Currently sourcing a college to study for the Literacy Level 4 Specialism and also to gain ESOL qualifications.

Additionally, I have gained diplomas in Aroma Stress Therapy, Flower Essence Therapy, and in Crystal Healing; and can now offer any of the therapies themselves, or teach the basics of them.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is to get to know my students and identify their particular needs, then, working together, devising a programme best suited to them. I am flexible and adaptable according to the student's needs, learning style and learning barriers.

I am more than willing to adapt whatever programme of delivery decided on to best suit the needs of my student, for instance with regard to number of hours per week, number of weeks needed etc. I am also happy to take the ESOL teaching sessions 'outside' - ie go shopping, buy tickets etc for more practical learning (any additional expenses such as extra travel, lunch etc to be negotiated prior to session taking place).

Based very much on what the learner wants to cover. Once we have agreed the initial starting point, I would advise that they purchase a suitable language course book with CD/DVD so that they will be able to consolidate what they learn in the relaxed but structured lesson with me, and also continue to listen, and speak in the chosen target language between lessons.
Although the lessons with me will be structured, I will go at the learners' own pace and ability, consolidating as we go along, and introducing fun exercises and games by way of revision, and also give constructive advice about what other resources can assist them.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English and English Literature for over 25 years in both state and independent schools to a wide range of pupils, from the very high achieving to the less able.

At A level I have taught English Literature, English Language, and English Language/Literature.

I have been Head of English for 18 years in two schools (one of which has been one of most successful comprehensive schools in the country) for a number of years. My departments have always been the most successful or among the most successful departments.

My teaching career has involved teaching and tutoring pupils and students of all ages and abilities from year 3 to degree level.

Over a period of three years three of my pupils - from over 350,000 candidates in each year - were awarded the highest marks in the AQA GCSE English and Literature examinations, .

My department received an award for the highest performing A level girls nationally.

My GCSE results for have been consistently better than predictions by between a half a grade and a grade.

I have had similar success with A level.

My classes' National Curriculum levels are usually a level or more better than predictions.

Tutoring Approach:

Since every student is an individual with their own range of skills and knowledge, I tailor my teaching to their needs. Accordingly, I select from a range of traditional and more informal methods to suit the individual.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to understand the student's position whilst approaching concepts in a logical manner at an appropriate pace. Provided I am informed in advance of the topic for an arranged lesson, I will give my time to prepare fully around it before the sessions. And/Or if there are any questions or past-paper help I will guide through the important facts through the paper.

In any case, more importantly, I believe the tutee him/herself should lead the sessions, if they are going to be effective, and this is why I will encourage you to think more independently but still supporting you. Normally in the sessions I would give explanations along with worked examples discussing with the tutee. In the midst I would make sure the student understands the core of the concept and the chain of thoughts is complete at each stage.

Personal Description:
I am currently taking my PhD in classics at Durham University, having taken my undergraduate degree in classics at Cambridge and my MA at Durham. Also I should mention that I have GCSE and A-level qualifications in Latin and Ancient Greek and am very familiar with the structure and requirements of these exams for any student who may be taking them. My current work focuses heavily on Latin literature, as I am preparing a commentary on Martial's twelfth book of epigrams, although I am equally able to offer assistance to students of classical Greek literature.

Teaching Experience:

During my undergraduate degree I gained experience in private tuition by running a weekly class for two years. The class was based around the works of Homer and catered to a range of abilities. Although the class was primarily geared around making sure the tutees could render an accurate translation of a set passage, assistance was also provided in matters of syntax and style, metrical and literary stylistic considerations, as well as explanations of socio-historical matters.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tuition will of course largely be dependent upon the needs and ability of the respective tutee. For GCSE or A-level students, however, I think it would always be best to begin each lesson with a quick test on a point of grammar and vocabulary (as there is a prescribed list of vocabulary up to AS level), and a literary stylistic feature (e.g. identifying a chiasmus etc.), since these formal aspects essentially underlie the series of unseen exams from GCSE - A-level. After this test, each lesson should focus on a text, ideally alternating each lesson with a text that is prescribed as one of the set texts for the respective exams with an unseen passage. This approach tends to produce the best results since the unseen passages give a true indication of the student's strengths and weaknesses and help the tutor to understand more easily what aspects need to be prioritised.

I am familiar with tutoring face-to-face (6 years) and online (+3 years). I have been part of a research which involves language teaching and technology, and I am right now studying a Masters' Degree in Online Education and Virtual Course Design. I use a wide range of visual tools to make lessons more appealing (virtual whiteboard, Google Drive, etc.) and have a personal platform to connect all my students.

- How do I speak?
I have a language certificate for working in the media, so my diction and elocution skills are very good. In case you wondered, I have a clear standard accent from Spain (and an Occidental accent in Catalan).

- How am I going to make you improve your language skills?
Let me be honest: I am a language learner myself, so I know the key is practice, practice... and practice! But I have good news for you: I'm here to help you with it in the most fun possible way, without forgetting about the cultural aspect of the language. Of course we'll see grammar (it is necessary), but always in a very practical context and according to your needs.

- How about session types?
This is absolutely up to you! From exam preparation, grammar, writing and conversation to the most advanced rules of ortotypography (I am a proofreader). This is the good part of teaching one-to-one, that I can tailor my lessons to your needs and learning style. You set your goal, I design a specific lesson plan!

In my university research (2014) I have proved that it is possible to do so via Skype, and this is actually the field I specialise in. In this course, I will diagnose your speech, prepare individualised exercises tailored to your needs and create a path for you to follow in order to achieve your phonetic goals.

If you're curious about this type of training, I can provide the reference of one of my students, who trained very hard and in around 2 months was able to roll her [r], or another student, who could improve her prosody and expressivity in only two sessions. Teaching Experience:

I am an English Mentor at my 6th form for the lower years, teaching spelling, grammar, synonyms and essay writing. I help them prepare notes and help them study for their upcoming exams. I am also helping out at Homework club for the year sevens and eights, who appreciate my help!

Tutoring Approach:

I will ask what they are struggling with, how they think I should help them and what they need to work on. I will ask them to do a practise essay question and I will check through it, and go through their mistakes and what they need to do to correct it. I will create a list of what they need to focus on the most and the least, and rotate each tutoring session as such. One day spelling, one day sentence structure, one day editing, and so on.

One to One - focussing on parts of the curriculum where the student is having difficulty in understanding
Create a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. The student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. One-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students' personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.

Depending on the student's needs and learning style I encourage students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don't lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. Nor do I do the students' homework for them!

With programming language my approach is first to make the student using various simple approaches like an algorithm or with a flow chart to solve it then once the confidence if built up to go to the syntax of the programming language. This approach not only will help you master any programming language quickly but improve ones analytical skills as well.

Personal Description:
I am 22 years old, fresh out of the education system, having just graduated from the University of Chester. I am newly married and my husband is a primary school teacher in the Wirral. I currently work part-time at All Saints Church, Hoole, as their children and families worker. In addition I am the lead safeguarding officer and children's material developer for a christian discipleship movement called Inspire.
I have three brothers, I play the piano and flute, and I love to be creative, anything from cards, taking photo's to Santa's grotto.
I have dyslexia, which may have held me back at various times, but has given me the ability to see the way people and things work differently. For me there is never just one way of doing things whether it be solving problems or seeing new sides to an argument. I believe that we are all unique, and our individual way of thinking and processing is one of the most important things that we can learn.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout school I worked in various schools and nurseries. I was apart of the guided reading scheme helping to improve the ability and confidence of younger students to read and read aloud.
In university I would proof read peoples essays, spending hours working alongside them editing and correcting.
Through my work in various churches, I have taught various ages and abilities. I work with many different ages all together, helping with reading, writing and social skills. Although my experience is not in front of a class of thirty, but in front of a congregation of 50-200, I often work with children, young people and adults one to one.

University degree as a Russian-English linguist and a teacher. I am fully qualified to teach 'Russian for Work and Life', A-level, Higher Russian. I know firsthand how challenging it can be to study a foreign language. Native Russian speaker, I also speak Bulgarian and Romanian and I used to study German and French.

I have recently moved to Scotland, where my daughter, who also knows more than 4 languages, has become a student doctor. As a mother and a teacher, I strongly believe that the learning process should be enjoyable in order to achieve the best results.

If you are thinking of a New Year Resolution as 'I will learn Russian (or English)' please don't :-) My advice is to set quantitative goals, e.g.2-4 hours/week or to reach the next level- e.g. to reach Pre-Intermediate within 3 months etc. I wish you all the best in 2017!

My 13 years experience working as a Principal Examiner included responsibility for writing your A Level and AS Psychology exam papers for a major exam board; awarding grades to students and writing the all important examiner reports. In this respect I have a true insight into how Psychology exam papers are set and marked having supervised the marking of thousands of exams since 2002. I was also part of the team that wrote and produced the new A Level Psychology specifications for 2008 and 2015.

Whether its simplifying content or more importantly understanding what the examiners want then look no further.
My sessions are always dictated by the needs of the student and we will typically focus on building confidence in understanding and answering exam questions. Getting your written abilities to match your verbal abilities is key as so many students know the answer but just cant write it down in the exam in order to get marks.
Exams have changed significantly so there is less guessing what's going to be on the paper and a heavier focus on applying knowledge to questions. I will challenge you to tackle these and other types of questions so you are fully prepared for them.
I always say 50% of your grade in August will be down to the correct type of revision and the other 50% is down to how you interpret the exam question, together we will successfully tackle both. Career Summary

I worked as an accountant for 30 years, culminating in a role as Chief Financial Officer of Ireland's largest insurance company. I have worked with UK and European regulators, and was responsible for managing a multi-billion pound investment portfolio. I worked as a freelance senior finance manager for two years, in the City of London.

Recently I decided to have a career change, and become a secondary school (GCSE and A-Level) teacher, in the Science Department, specialising in Physics. Before starting my teacher training in September 2017 I am spending a term working as a cover teacher, across all subjects and covering Year 7 (11-year olds) through Year 13 (18-year olds).

Personal Details

I live in rural Northamptonshire, and am very excited about my new career. I have a DBS (criminal records check) allowing me to work unsupervised with children. I enjoy travelling, cultural tourism and cooking. I am a non-smoker.

Teaching Experience:

While working as an accountant, I set up and ran the company's trainee accounting scheme and have always enjoyed teaching and coaching, from basic levels to delivering training for Boards of Directors.

I enjoy teaching and coaching my 14-year old daughter, and have some experience coaching primary school Maths (in preparation for Year 6 SATs). I felt called to teaching and have changed careers to enable this. I have recent experience teaching secondary school classes, but enjoy 1:1 coaching very much. I am easy to get on with and can establish good rapport with my students very quickly.

My formal teacher training starts in September 2017, but my life experience and subject matter knowledge make me well suited to the role of tutor. I am largely skewed towards numerical subjects, but am also fastidious in my use of English grammar and writing, due to having spent thirty years providing high quality reports to senior and junior colleagues.

Tutoring Approach:

I very much prefer to work using the syllabus and textbooks with which the student is already familiar, as it can be very confusing to be taught different approaches by a school and by a tutor. If textbooks are unavailable (many schools do not allow textbooks to be taken home), I can probably source them, but at the student/parent's expense.

My style is very engaging, and I seek to understand how my students view the subject, and work with them to fill in any gaps and increase student confidence. I don't like giving rote lessons, which I think are dry and little better than reading the textbook. I really enjoy bringing a subject alive by relating the topic to the real world, and by including interesting facts and information.

Tutoring has to work both for the tutor and the student, and I will always try to make the lessons fun and stimulating. If I don't think the student is benefitting from my tuition, I will discuss this at an early stage. It makes no sense to press on with continued lessons if my approach or the student response is unsatisfactory.

I don't think that every student can become A* grade in every subject, but tuition can increase confidence, improve performance, reduce anxiety, and give a student the best possible chance of fulfilling their potential.
