Personal Description:
I am a qualified and experienced Primary School teacher. I have been recognised for raising attainment in writing and maths. In addition to this, I am passionate about teaching and raising standards- I do this by thoroughly understanding the childs needs and implementing strategies and the right support to close any gaps in learning. I always encourage the children to challenge their own learning.

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced Primary school teacher with over 9 years of teaching experience. Furthermore, I am an experienced intervention teacher and have over four years of experience of boosting childrens learning in maths and writing. Additionally, I have experience of leading whole school maths curriculum.

Tutoring Approach:

I strongly believe that a child can only succeed once the foundation gaps are closed. So, I do this by assessing the child in writing and maths and identifying gaps that need plugging. I then plan and teach personalised lessons tailored to suit the childs individual learning style. The child's rate of progress is carefully monitored and once ready I move them on to the next stage of learning.

Personal Description:
I am 23 years old and I am in my final year at The University of Manchester where I am studying French and Italian. I have spent 6 months in Bologna in Italy, working in a private language school for those wished to learn either Italian or English. I worked as a copywriter for the school website, working in French, Italian and English. I also worked as a conversation tutor to those who wanted to learn English. I am now waiting on my results for a recognised qualification, a C1 CILS exam. In the same year, I lived in Paris for four months where I worked at ELLE, the well known women's fashion magazine, where I used solely French. I am very down to earth and my biggest passion is football, I enjoy a good movie and love a good comedy. If you feel more comfortable meeting in a neutral place, a coffee place or in the town centre that is fine by me. It is flexible. A clean criminal record and can boast a detention-less education!

Teaching Experience:

I now have teaching experience and I have shadowed those who have done this for a job. I have worked voluntarily in a school teaching beginner's Italian. Having already worked as a conversation tutor in a private school, I feel I would excel in giving private lessons, given the chance.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel every student works at their own pace, however it would not take me long to work out an approach which would realise the full potential of the tutee. I am patient and I can sympathise that learning a new language or topic can be frustrating.

Language teaching can be more effective in groups and the cost for 2-4 students is 25 per hour. Please ask about larger group sizes.

Personal Description:
I am a young actor living in London. I also write and direct poetry, plays and films. As my father was a Diplomat I spent much of my early life abroad: in Cuba, Hungary and the United States.

After studying Maths, English and Russian at Eton College I spent a year studying acting in New York and cooking in an English restaurant, then studied English and Drama at Bristol and have just finished a BA in Acting at LAMDA. When I'm not writing or in the theatre I'm in the kitchen experimenting.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored several students over the past two years in London. I have helped with English A-Level papers for a boy who got an A grade and will start at Bristol this autumn. I also taught essay-writing and exam technique to a girl who will be starting medicine at Cambridge this autumn.

I also have a lot of experience with learning difficulties as I have helped my younger brother all his studying life through his asperger's and dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

My inspiration to work in the arts always came from the books, films, artists and languages I studied at school and at university so I have a great amount of passion and interest in what I teach.

I believe this is very much the most important lesson for any new student to learn: a personal enjoyment and motivation for the subject. Exams are everywhere these days but it is important to remember that an exam is only a method for determining how much you know and if you can find yourself genuinely excited and eager to discuss what you know you are half-way to passing that exam.

My name is Andrea, I'm 31 year old Italian and I live in Brighton.

I'm a qualified Italian tutor offering private lessons at all levels and tailored to your particular needs in Brighton.

I got my qualification at the International House in London where I currently teach Italian.

Teaching Experience:

I have recently attended a Teacher Training Course (CLTA) at the International House in London and obtained a Certificate in the Teaching of Italian to Adults. I passed the course and I have been awarded with Grade A.

Over the past 6 years I have been running my own business as a freelance translator and I have developed a high level of professionalism, accuracy and reliability, as well as good communication skills and a good attention to detail.

Personal Description:
I have been playing guitar for 17 years, ever since my Dad unexpectedly presented me with an acoustic guitar one Christmas. I've never looked back, and in the intervening years I've also picked up bass, drums and piano. In 2002 during my summer holidays from University I attended a 10 week full time course at the Guitar Institute in London.

I have played with a number of bands throughout my musical career. I am currently actively involved in two bands and we have been fortunate enough to play to audiences across the UK and in Europe, with gigs in Germany, Austria, Portugal, Italy and Norway. I have also played in Musical Theatre productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Fame and Footloose.

Teaching Experience:

I am very happy teaching any age and level of student from complete beginners to experienced players.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach acoustic and electric guitar, covering rock, pop, indie, blues, soul, funk, metal and folk. However, more importantly than any specific style, I teach how to approach, practice and learn music in general. These disciplines can be applied to any style.

I ensure my students get a thorough understanding of the technical and theoretical aspects of playing guitar. However, I use real pieces of music to reinforce and practice these elements so that they are fun to play and do not become dry and repetitive.

I can support students working towards grade exams if required. However, this is not obligatory and it is entirely possible to become an excellent guitarist without taking grades. The grade boards I'm most familiar with are Rockschool and Trinity Rock & Pop.

Personal Description:
I am a divorcee with two teenagers and a rather loopy dog (all housetrained!) I discovered the joys of teaching as a parent helper at my children's Infant and Junior schools which inspired me to qualify as a Primary School teacher. Unfortunately I have developed arthritis in my knee which is why I am looking to continue my teaching in a non-school environment. My favourite academic subject is literacy because I love reading books by a wide range of authors, e.g. Austin and Dickens to J K Rowling and Jacqueline Wilson. I love creative crafts e.g. card making, cross stitch, scrapbooking etc. Music plays a big part in my life, including listening and making. I'm a bit of a diva on the recorder and can play the full range from Sopranino to Bass. I love to sing.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Primary School Teacher who has worked in a number of schools in Essex in permanent, temporary and supply posts across both KS1 and KS2 over the last four years. My PGCE was obtained through School Centred Initial Teacher Training (which comprised spending a lot of time working directly with children). Prior to that I was a parent helper and governor for 5 years at my children's Infant and Junior Schools. I was Music Leader at my last school for two years and ran the choir. I enjoy teaching all primary subjects. I am keen to also support adults in improving their maths and literacy skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I am familiar with the Primary Curriculum. Hands on learning is great fun and I enjoy practical activities. I love working on a one to one basis as you can build a rapport and really personalise the learning. I enjoy topic work as it gives the learning a context and shows that subjects do not stand alone without any connections/overlap with each other (just like life). I am keen to support both adults and children in mastering literacy and numeracy skills because they are fundamental life skills. Personalised learning means that any gaps can be filled so that an individual has a firm foundation on which to build.

Living in a foreign country myself I know the demands of learning and speaking a foreign language. I am an experienced secondary school teacher with lots of experience in private tuition. I am a kind, encouraging person and I look forward to helping you learn and improve your German language skills!

Teaching Experience:

5 years of working in tuition schools and giving private tuition
1 year German assistant teacher teaching German as foreign language in two secondary schools in Leicestershire, UK
18 months PGCE with the subjects English and German in Germany
3 years secondary school teacher teaching English and German

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that a key in teaching a foreign language is to establish a trustworthy atmosphere in which the student feels comfortable to learn and use the language and not to feel afraid to make mistakes. Since every student is different I will use different methods and techniques according to each individual person. My aim is for learning the language to be enjoyable, interesting and connect to culture.

Personal Description:
I am very passionate about films, theatre, the media industry. I am currently in my second year of a BA Hons in Film Studies at Edge Hill University, living away from home during the week but always available on weekends. I am hardworking, dedicated to my studies and after my undergraduate degree I am hoping to continue my studies with a Masters degree.

I also love to learn languages, currently able to speak 4 fluently (English, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi) and also learning Spanish in my free time.

Teaching Experience:

I have a younger sister who is following my path into Film Studies, not knowing a thing before starting her A Level in it she is now predicted an A*. I have held short after school lessons for her and other family members in this particular field and the outcome has always been satisfying.

I have also started my TEFL course (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) which helps me gain a qualification in teaching the English language.

Tutoring Approach:

The lessons will be about the student, and not the teacher. Therefore everything will be tailored to areas you wish to improve (spoken communication, written skills, reading, accent, listening)

I have a calm and relaxed approach to tutoring, understanding the problems and weaknesses in people and using those to bring out the best in them. If I can see passion within the student then I will do my personal best to bring out the potential in my students.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Alice. I am a 20 year old, second year Economics undergraduate at the University of Edinburgh. I studied Maths, Politics and French and Further Maths at A-level in which I obtained A*, A*, A and B respectively.

I offer tutoring in Maths, Economics and Politics. I also obtained 10 A* at GCSE in Maths, English Lit, English Lang, French, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Latin, History and Drama.

In University term time I live in Bruntsfield and in the holidays I live in central London. I love working with children and young adults and, in addition to tutoring work, do lots of babysitting.

I am very interested in politics and current affairs, enjoy reading and swimming and love to travel.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored all subjects at 11+ and common entrance. I also have loads of informal tutoring experience, teaching family and friends. This has been mostly Maths and English GCSE work and I have seen some fantastic results from the students I worked with. I also spent some time last year working at a school in India where I taught Maths and English to children between the ages of 7 and 13.

Tutoring Approach:

Given my relatively recent experience of GCSEs/ A-Levels/ University, I am aware of the curriculum and it's demands. I approach tutoring in a fun and accessible way to try and encourage the child to work hard at the subject through his or her own volition rather than through being forced.

I aim not just tutor the child to pass the exam, but to go beyond this and provide a comprehensive knowledge of the subject. I believe that it is first important to identify the areas that the child struggles with most and build up their confidence with these topics. I recognise that every child will have different needs and will establish what these are and create the lessons around them.

Teaching Experience:

I presently work as the Assistant Head of Science responsible for Chemistry at a school in London. I teach sciences at KS3, KS4 and deliver the 'A' Level Chemistry curriculum at KS5. I am now in my fourth year of teaching in a secondary school, having received successful school lesson and OFSTED observations. This has allowed me to progress rapidly and reach the position in which I am now. Whilst at University, I was regularly involved in helping young people with their studies through charities and other voluntary companies.

Tutoring Approach:

As a practising teacher, I am aware that all pupils will have their individual needs. That is why my approach will always vary depending on the needs of the pupil. Personal Description:
My name is Michael and I teach private one to one drum kit lessons to people of all ages, in and around the Yorkshire area. I have been playing the drum kit for over 20 years and started playing at the early age of 11. Since then I have been in many bands and performed in many venues in and around the Yorkshire area.
After studying music at school in Scotland and forming my first band I soon found myself addicted to the drum kit. I decided I wanted to further my skills by getting private drum kit lessons which helped me gain my Standard Grade/GCSE and Higher Grade/A-Level in Music. I then furthered this by studying a BTEC in Popular Music at Huddersfield Technical College and a BA (Hons) in Popular Music at the University of Sheffield. I have also recently completed my PGCE in Life Long Learning at the University of Huddersfield and hold QTLS with IfL.

Teaching Experience:

I had my first teaching experience when I was 16 years old at a music workshop during the summer holidays where I was involved in teaching groups of people how to play the drum kit within a band setting. At the end of the workshops each group that had formed had to perform their songs to the public.

Since then I always had a desire to pursue my teaching and in 2006 I started teaching at Rhythm Inc Music Tuition in Barnsley. Initially, I only had a couple of students that I would teach in my spare time between my job and other commitments. However, more students started coming and having only started with a couple I soon had enough to become self-employed and put my all into my teaching.

In 2007 I started teaching at Take 2 Music Academy in Birdwell, Barnsley and at Rockem Music in Rotherham. I have taught at other private music schools and in local schools in the Yorkshire area. I also have experience delivering group workshops within both private and local schools.

Currently, in 2012 I opened my own teaching studio based in Wakefield, and continue to teach at Rhythm Inc Music Tuition in Barnsley, Take 2 Music Academy in Birdwell, Barnsley and at Rockem Music in Rotherham. I have recently completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Lifelong Learning and hold QTLS with IfL (Institute for Learning)

I am fully CRB and DBS checked and currently have a 100% pass rate for students sitting their graded exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Personal Description:
I am an aspiring finance professional with a BSc Economics degree (2:1) from the University of York. My degree heavily focused on Maths and Statistics but I also have great subject knowledge at GCSE and A level of all the subjects I can provide tuition. I achieved the highest grades possible in my subjects and can provide tuition for all exam boards.

I am a patient person with excellent communication skills allowing me to engage with any type of student. I adapt my teaching style to suit student needs and help achieve an excellent outcome.

In addition to my listed subjects, I can also provide tuition for the UKCAT medical entrance exam.

Teaching Experience:

I have successfully provided tuition to friends at university and younger siblings particularly in GCSE and A level Maths. I have helped students achieve entrance into higher education and secure higher level employment both in the school and university environment.

Tutoring Approach:

My method of delivery depends on the individual, their learning style, their learning objectives and at which level they are studying.

First we work out areas of improvement, the intended timescale and devise a learning plan. Thereafter, I will tutor the individual in line with their learning style and a pace that suits them. I have no doubt the application of knowledge by attempting practice questions and past papers is a great way to identify gaps in knowledge and helps me to know where our lesson should focus as to not waste invaluable time.

I believe the approach and technique a student has to their subject and exam matters as much if not more than actually learning the content, therefore I advise students on exam technique, different learning styles and attempt to build a connection between the student and subject. I think when a student can relate in a meaningful way by highlighting the relevance of the subject to real life, they tend to appreciate and retain information better.

My aim is to always bring enable the student to gain confidence, fulfil their potential and achieve the highest grade possible.
