Personal Description:
I am 23 years old and I am in my final year at The University of Manchester where I am studying French and Italian. I have spent 6 months in Bologna in Italy, working in a private language school for those wished to learn either Italian or English. I worked as a copywriter for the school website, working in French, Italian and English. I also worked as a conversation tutor to those who wanted to learn English. I am now waiting on my results for a recognised qualification, a C1 CILS exam. In the same year, I lived in Paris for four months where I worked at ELLE, the well known women's fashion magazine, where I used solely French. I am very down to earth and my biggest passion is football, I enjoy a good movie and love a good comedy. If you feel more comfortable meeting in a neutral place, a coffee place or in the town centre that is fine by me. It is flexible. A clean criminal record and can boast a detention-less education!

Teaching Experience:

I now have teaching experience and I have shadowed those who have done this for a job. I have worked voluntarily in a school teaching beginner's Italian. Having already worked as a conversation tutor in a private school, I feel I would excel in giving private lessons, given the chance.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel every student works at their own pace, however it would not take me long to work out an approach which would realise the full potential of the tutee. I am patient and I can sympathise that learning a new language or topic can be frustrating.

I have a particular interest in languages and Literacy, and enjoy a rewarding job as a classroom teacher.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching in the classroom for seven years. I have had a variety of posts, teaching many children from different backgrounds and with different learning styles.
I have experience teaching children from five to eleven, and I also work with children up to Year eight in my current post.
I am the Learning Support Co-ordinator at my place of work as well as Year One class teacher, which enables me to have a greater insight into different learning and teaching styles, and support the learning of a diverse range of children.

Tutoring Approach:

I will direct each session towards a clear learning objective, and plan various activities to support and consolidate this. Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable tutor with a huge amount of enthusiasm in the subjects I teach. I was awarded a Scholarship to a competitive independent before working towards a Masters in Biochemistry at Oxford University.

I have since worked as a Pharmaceuticals Business Analyst, as a High Yield Chemicals Industry Analyst in Investment Banking and as an Air Traffic Controller. In each case the knowledge and skills from my education have been critical. I would now like to gain the satisfaction of helping others do well in these subjects and attain their potential.

Teaching Experience:

In my industries it is critical to continue learning and passing exams, and in every role, I have always had to pass on my knowledge and understanding to others, which has been incredibly gratifying. More recently, I have enjoyed tutoring maths and other subjects to pupils locally, often to help them gain entrance to competitive schools. I also enjoy spending time teaching my son and my nieces.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning should always be interesting to the pupil - inspirational even - and that the onus is on the teacher to make this the case. Learning is about being curious and asking questions; in fact I believe pupils should not be scared to ask any question, which means that learning should feel relaxed rather than formal.

Subjects should not be seen as complex but rather layers of straight forward principals that build on what the pupil already knows in an intuitive fashion. In this way, a good teacher allows understanding to grow naturally and not feel like a challenge.

Personal Description:
My name is Marco, during the past twelve years, I have taught the Italian language in England and abroad.
My professional experience has regarded various subjects, among which:
- pedagogic investigation about the foreign language teaching;
- foreign language teaching coordination;
- writing of didactic syllabi and curricula;
- assessment principles and criteria;
- organization of workshops, conferences, public lectures and roundtables with teachers, heads of schools, deans of universities to enhance the presence of the Italian language teaching in Guatemala among schools and private and State funded Universities;
- implementations in the MFL Italian language syllabus in order to improve the didactic offer;
- organisation of training courses for the CELI exam of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia;
- training of English students to take the GCSE and A-Level in Italian;
- creation of strategic networks among various educational partners both locally and internationally for the provision of scholarships for students and teachers in need;

I am graduate in Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University Ca' Foscari of Venice and I possess the ITALS Master's Degree in Teaching and promotion of the Italian language and culture to foreigners.

At December 2007 I graduated with success from the ITALS M. A. Degree in Teaching and Promotion of Italian Language and Culture of the University Ca' Foscari of Venice. The topic of my dissertation was linked to how organize an MFL interactive teaching unit in a class composed of students with different abilities.
At the end of May 2008 I published Mosaico Italia, a book on Italian Language and Culture that can be used with students with an Intermediate level of Italian (level B1 of the Common European Reference for Languages). This book aims to provide a didactic instrument to investigateItalian reality.

I added to my knowledge gained 'in the field' by taking the Master's Degree in Education at Birkbeck, University of London, graduating in November 2011 with Distinction. Success on this program entailed my being able to integrate effectively concrete work experience with theoretical knowledge in such a way that I deepened my analytical skills, overall.

Teaching Experience:

My professional experience has regarded various subjects, among which:

Tutoring Approach:

think I am able to enhance the skills of low performing students by individualizing teaching methods and processes. My teaching style focuses very much on the outcomes my students wish to achieve by improving their Italian, be they grammatical, written or conversational. I am dedicated to helping my students learn and improve their Italian in an atmosphere that encourages interaction, listening, feedback and empathy. Above all, I like to make the process of learning Italian a fun experience that enriches my students' personal and professional lives through a sense of achievement.
The teaching techniques, which could be useful in a Foreign Language Tuition, are those in which communication between the tutor and the student is always is promoted. In this regard, mutual interaction and collaboration lead to a more natural learning of the language. This process follows a teaching method where the humanist-affective approach is used to practice the basic and integrated linguistic abilities while learning a foreign language.

Personal Description:
I graduated from Oxford in July 2011. Since graduating I have worked as an actor; however, like most actors it is unusual to find oneself in full time acting work for the whole year so along with this I offer personal tutoring (which I often continue to offer when involved in acting projects).

Unlike most actors who tutor English, I am much more knowledgeable in the sciences. At A-Level I studied Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Drama & General Studies and obtained 5 A grades (prior to A* grades were brought in). Prior to training in Oxford I began a Medical Degree but decided acting was where my heart. I still however, have a massive passion for science and particularly loved teaching this whilst living in Ghana on my gap year. I've now been tutoring SCIENCE, ENGLISH and DRAMA for over a year with tutees ranging from GCSE students to adults.

I am confident, possess common sense and am able to communicate extremely well. I look at things as challenges rather than problems. I pick things up quickly and like to be pushed in at the deep end.
I also live by the moral, 'that if a job is worth doing, it's worth doing right'. Which is why I take pride in being patient, reliant, mature and having excellent organisational skills. In short I'm a people person.

Teaching Experience:

- Personal Tutor (since 2011)
- 5-month voluntary teaching experience in Ghana (large classes and 1 to 1)
- Wealth of childcare/creche experience
- Drama based workshop experience
- Mentoring to Lower 6th
- Workshop experience with disabled youngsters
- LAC trained
- 200+ hours of accredited voluntary work

Feedback

Tracey: "William is a great tutor! He is very patient, and extremely well prepared for each lesson. He has an easy, fun and interesting approach to learning. After two lessons, I feel very confident I can achieve success in my exams with his tuition."

Tutoring Approach:

- Why tutor? Getting to know the tutee

- Initial assessment of needs and requirements. Identifying personal needs

- Particular areas of work needed (in line with syllabus) i.e. homework, particular topics, confidence in class etc.

- Regular tutoring/Needs must basis agreement. Regular papers and homework supplied dependant on tutee

Personal Description:
I am French, having grown up and attended school and University in Paris. In 2008 I moved to England to work at the University of Nottingham as a lectrice; I then obtained the PGCE and have been teaching French, Spanish and History in a local secondary school for 3 years until I decided to start studying again. I also obtained the CAPES to teach English as a foreign language in 2011. I am currently studying for a PhD in modern history at the University of Nottingham, but am keen to keep teaching during my research. I am married to an English man, and enjoy reading, music and films as well as sharing the wonders of French cuisine with my husband!

Teaching Experience:

I have taught French and Spanish up to A-Level for the past 3 years at Toot Hill School, and have also taught French at the University of Nottingham for a year, concentrating on speaking skills.
I have also tutored students for A-Level in history, as well as teaching the Ancient History GCSE course at Toot Hill School for two years.
I have a wealth of experience working with children, teenagers and adults alike (my husband is English and I am doing my best to drum French into him!), I have tutored privately in France for three years before moving to England, teaching English as a foreign language and have also worked as a translator.

Tutoring Approach:

I adopt a friendly, enjoyable approach to teaching, with the belief that promoting a love for learning is the key to the success of my students. Whenever possible, I use examples from the culture (songs, films, cartoons) and history of the countries where the language is spoken to give more relevance to the learning process.
I feel that my wide-ranging academic interests encourage students to locate particular subjects within a wider context, which I find often fosters a renewed enthusiasm for the subject itself.
Regarding teaching languages, I believe in providing a strong and clear grammatical background, but i also encourage students to be more confident and spontaneous in their use of the language, be it orally or in the written form, a system which I found worked very well with my pupils while I was teaching full time.

Personal Description:
I began my combat training at thirteen at a local boxing club in Llanelli, learning the vital skills and discipline that have kept me working in the fitness and self-defence field for over ten years.

At the age of fifteen I joined the Cobra-Kai Freestyle Kickboxing Federation, and trained religiously under the regime of instructor Lee Martin (4th degree black belt). In 1997 I went on to win the European martial arts title (WUMA Federation), held at Cheltenham. On my return, and after numerous local newspaper photos and write-ups, I received the greatest honour any keen young martial artist dreams of: becoming a fully-fledged black belt.

Teaching Experience:

At the young age of 18, I opened my very own kickboxing club at Llanelli Leisure Centre, for all levels and ages. After showcasing my skills, not only as a martial artist but also a teacher, I received my 2nd degree black belt. Starting with just one weekly ninety-minute class, I now run four classes per week. Over the years I have helped created more than ten black belt students, two welsh champions and one British champion.

In 1997, I ran my first all women's self-defence class, training women of all ages and physical abilities. I continued my classes, eventually including mixed gender and young persons training.

After undergoing a series of courses from Securicare, Frontline, Venue security and BIIAB City and Guilds, I have become a Level 7 Conflict Management Trainer. I have worked alongside various organisations such as the NHS, covering the majority of hospitals and clinics throughout Carmarthenshire.

As well as training, I have since achieved my 4th degree black belt, opened my own one-to-one gym, and become an advanced level 3 personal trainer through Fitness Wales (REPs certified), teaching private lessons of fitness, weight training, martial arts, self-defence, Pilates, and much more.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching has been a big part of my life from a very young age. It has given me great pleasure and accomplishment. At times I have found it difficult, but at the same time rewarding. I have always given it 100% and believe that to be a good teacher you must be able to learn from the positives and even the negatives.

Personal Description:
I am a 28 year old mum and I have a Master's Degree in English Studies/ English Linguistics, History and Economic Sciences. I graduated in 2010 in Germany. Born in Poland and growing up in Germany I am bilingual in Polish and German and also fluent in English since I have lived in Northern Ireland since 2007. I am very interested in languages and linguistics and would like to use this knowledge to help others, especially children.

Teaching Experience:

I used to give private English lessons to a student aged 11-12 in Germany when I was a student myself. Within weeks his grades started to improve and thus after a few months he did not need any more tutoring.
Apart from this one I do not have any teaching experience, however, I was an assistant manager in a restaurant in my previous job through which I gained a lot of confidence being in a leading/ teaching position.

Tutoring Approach:

Because of my own interest in languages and linguistics I would like to work as a language teacher and fascinate and inspire others to learn different languages or simply help them to improve their language skills. My personal background as well as my degree provide an excellent basis for this.

Personal Description:
I have an inquiring mind which I have used to attain proficient levels in such disciplines as Engineering and Electronics, Maths, Music and Guitar, and most importantly in my opinion Physics. I enjoy to discover different facets of nature and love to experiment, hypothesise for anything I am unsure about; for fun and for work. Hopefully I can pass this spirit to a few other people when teaching Maths and/ or Physics.
I am a member of the institute of Physics (IOP) and the institute of Mathematics (IMA) and member of the two Astronomical societies.
Other interests of mine are: drawing; usually portrait or cartoon sketching, Mountain bike riding and long distance road races. I'm sure there are others as I like anything that is a challenge whether physically or mentally.

Teaching Experience:

I have 6 years teaching experience, teaching in various Schools in England, teaching for 2 years at Cotham High School. I give after school classes in Mathematics at two local schools. I have tutored many students successfully for SATs, GCSE, A level and other examinations including Btec engineering. In 2013-2014 academic year I was appointed lead teacher for KS3 and GCSE Maths, where I was made responsible for a new better scheme of work at an independent school in Bristol. Since l relocating to Stoke-on-Trent I have continued one-one teaching privately. I I have references and a good track record.

Tutoring Approach:

A strong belief in the student is very important. I aim to provide the highest standard of teaching for all students, which I thoroughly believe is very much a student centred tuition session. To make progress the student has to feel that he has earned and worked for the resolution of a problem. As a teacher it is my role to pick the right questions (grading) for the student and to mainly elicit an answer from him/ her by suggesting and providing general and specialised questioning to help the student exploit the facts and analogies he/ she knows.
As Maths is a very active discipline many questions will be given but again with the aim to provide the student with a natural and intuitive understanding. This is often not addressed in maths education stifling a students creative capacity, narrowing their vision of how a problem is to be approached.

I provide homework and feedback for all students and will help via email communication during the week.

Students will learn how to use the right mode of questioning in tackling all problems on their specific syllabus. This will prove extremely valuable as he/she progresses to more advanced studies as he/she will have prepared with a more intuitive approach. Further to this is that such problem solving skills are required for the new GCSE syllabus from 2015.
