Personal Description:
I am 23 years old and I am in my final year at The University of Manchester where I am studying French and Italian. I have spent 6 months in Bologna in Italy, working in a private language school for those wished to learn either Italian or English. I worked as a copywriter for the school website, working in French, Italian and English. I also worked as a conversation tutor to those who wanted to learn English. I am now waiting on my results for a recognised qualification, a C1 CILS exam. In the same year, I lived in Paris for four months where I worked at ELLE, the well known women's fashion magazine, where I used solely French. I am very down to earth and my biggest passion is football, I enjoy a good movie and love a good comedy. If you feel more comfortable meeting in a neutral place, a coffee place or in the town centre that is fine by me. It is flexible. A clean criminal record and can boast a detention-less education!

Teaching Experience:

I now have teaching experience and I have shadowed those who have done this for a job. I have worked voluntarily in a school teaching beginner's Italian. Having already worked as a conversation tutor in a private school, I feel I would excel in giving private lessons, given the chance.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel every student works at their own pace, however it would not take me long to work out an approach which would realise the full potential of the tutee. I am patient and I can sympathise that learning a new language or topic can be frustrating.

Personal Description:
I am a young actor living in London. I also write and direct poetry, plays and films. As my father was a Diplomat I spent much of my early life abroad: in Cuba, Hungary and the United States.

After studying Maths, English and Russian at Eton College I spent a year studying acting in New York and cooking in an English restaurant, then studied English and Drama at Bristol and have just finished a BA in Acting at LAMDA. When I'm not writing or in the theatre I'm in the kitchen experimenting.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored several students over the past two years in London. I have helped with English A-Level papers for a boy who got an A grade and will start at Bristol this autumn. I also taught essay-writing and exam technique to a girl who will be starting medicine at Cambridge this autumn.

I also have a lot of experience with learning difficulties as I have helped my younger brother all his studying life through his asperger's and dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

My inspiration to work in the arts always came from the books, films, artists and languages I studied at school and at university so I have a great amount of passion and interest in what I teach.

I believe this is very much the most important lesson for any new student to learn: a personal enjoyment and motivation for the subject. Exams are everywhere these days but it is important to remember that an exam is only a method for determining how much you know and if you can find yourself genuinely excited and eager to discuss what you know you are half-way to passing that exam.

Personal Description:
For the last five years I have been have been teaching geography at KS3, GCSE and A level in North London. I regard myself as having the skills and personality to form excellent professional relationships with students and I have the enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to make a positive contribution to the achievements of my students.

My personal strengths include excellent lesson planning and creation of resources and vast subject knowledge. This is supported by my 'outstanding' review in my most recent lesson observations. Under my school's independent learning initiative I have been at the forefront of adapting various strategies to use in my lessons. I have used these skills to help students achieve outstanding grades for their controlled assessments and help students become more self-motivated and prepared for later life.

Teaching Experience:

Secondary Head of Geography (Sept 2009 - present)
I am currently employed as a Head of Geography in a comprehensive school in North London.

Private Tutor (2009-2011)
I have tutored a number of students in both Geography and Maths and helped them to achieve results that exceeded their expectations.

EFL Teacher (2007-2008)
After completing my undergraduate I took a CELTA course to teach English as a foreign language. I lived in Vietnam for a year where I was employed as a full-time EFL teacher. I taught young learners between the ages of 6 and 18. These were further broken up into 3 different age groups and 7 different ability levels. I have also taught English to adults at a number of summer schools.

Tutoring Approach:

I think that it is really important to plan the tuition sessions to fit the needs of my individual student and I am committed the achievement of every student that I tutor. Working as a teacher in a 11-18 Secondary School means that I have access to a wealth of teaching resources and I am constantly learning new techniques to bring the best out of my students. I also work as an examiner for the Edexcel exam board with gives me a valuable insight into the exam expectation. I have been particularly successful when using past papers to help identify areas for improvement and I use a range of strategies to improve exam technique so that students are able to achieve to their full potential. My most recent student has just achieved a grade B in is GCSE geography which was a significant boost from his school's predicted target grade of a D grade. He has also chosen to continue his studies to A level after developing a love for the subject.

Personal Description:
I am an English, Maths, History and Science tutor who specialises in teaching children at both Primary School and GCSE level. I am currently an Undergraduate Student studying Sociology at the University of Nottingham and I believe that my age, adaptability and having undertaken GCSEs and A-levels not too long ago helps me relate to younger students and understand where they may be having difficulties.

Studied at The Latymer School, Haselbury Road, Edmonton, London N9 9TN from 2005 to present.

From 2007 to 2010, I studied nine GCSE subjects and I achieved six A-star Grades in Business Studies, Core Science, English Language, English Literature, History and Mathematics and three A Grades in Additional Science, Drama and French respectively.

My specialist subjects include English Literature (achieved an A* at GCSE and B at A-level), English Language (achieved an A* at GCSE), Mathematics (achieved an A* at GCSE), History (achieved an A* at GCSE and A at A-level) and Science (A* in Additional Science GCSE and A in Core Science GCSE).

I am currently studying Sociology at the University of Nottingham.

Teaching Experience:

- Work Placement as a Classroom Assistant for two weeks at Garfield Primary School, Arnos Grove
- Regularly tutor two younger brothers
- Been a private tutor since February 2012

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is student-centred. I believe that each student has a unique way of learning and understanding. As a tutor, I try to relate to the student and see through their eyes what they might find complicated. I cover the individual topic with the student, placing emphasis on the problem areas and then ask them to explain back to me what I taught them. I then use exercises, essays and past papers are then necessary to test the student's knowledge and to familiarise them with the format of each exam. The whole process is very interactive and I encourage students to stop me if clarification is needed and try to get them talking about the subject more comfortably.

Personal Description:
I am an 18 year old Geography BA student at UCL. I find both Geography and Psychology fascinating! I have really enjoyed studying these subjects at A level and love reading for a degree. I have a broad range of knowledge in both of these subjects, as I have read extensively around the syllabus when studying them.

Teaching Experience:

I have training as a mentor, working with members of sixth form in a volunteering programme. I have also worked in study groups with members of my year both at GCSE and sixth form, where I helped tutor others in areas they found difficult. I have informally helped mentor a student in the year below me when at sixth form college (we still keep in contact). This was not subject-specific, but related more to forming the skills to cope with moving to a new sixth form college.

Tutoring Approach:

From my own experience, Geography teachers at my sixth form college showed me how academic work is not rooted in a textbook, but in exploring and analysing our surroundings. This inspired me to learn, and I would love to share this motivating perspective with other students. I think home tutoring is a great way to get to understand a subject, because it gives you the freedom to be curious and ask questions as well as spend time on more difficult areas. From this, I would approach tutoring by finding the most interesting and effective way that the student learns, such as using mind maps or memory techniques (which is where my A-level Psychology can be really useful), and pooling ideas together to come up with solutions.

Personal Description:
I am a primary school teacher who lives in Brighton. I love living in Sussex and exploring the countryside and the amazing opportunities that there are within the county.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching in Primary Schools for 7 years now. I have taught years 4,5 and 6 so have an enhanced understanding of the curriculum requirements for this age as well as the expectations for the end of Key Stage 2 SATs tests.
I am still in the teaching profession and have an up to date understanding of current educational change.
I have just completed a maths specialism course at Brighton university which has really developed my understanding of misconceptions children have in mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer in identifying what it is that is acting as a barrier to children's learning, each child is an individual so I therefore believe that they will require highly personalised learning experiences in order to help them make progress. So the tutoring experience your child will receive will be highly tailored to their needs.

I also feel strongly that learning should be meaningful and multi-sensory so I ensure that my teaching style allows the children to recognise the applications of their learning in the real world and is represented in as many different styles as possible to ensure that the learning is embedded and meaningful.

Personal Description:
I am currently at one of the UK's leading Universities for Modern Languages: the University of Southampton and studying French and Spanish (Linguistic Studies).

I am passionate about foreign language learning and am a strong believer that through hard work and determination a solid grasp of a language can be obtained without having to live in a place where it is spoken.

I devise individual tutoring sessions as well as intensive courses upon request.

The introductory fee will be discounted from your tenth lesson.

Teaching Experience:

I have completed the UAS as a teaching assistant in A-level French classes at Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh.

I tutored both 1-1 and in class atmospheres during GCSE lessons of French and Spanish while studying towards my A-levels.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching methods must be adjusted to each individual, depending on the student's interlanguage and the level that they wish to achieve in the target language.

This can also be achieved via activities that are relevant to the individual's interests in order to maintain motivation. For example, if the student is interested in football, we will work through an article together about their favourite football player. Other activities may include: short news clips, songs and conversation in target language.

I believe that knowledge of a language entails proficiency in both productive (oral, writing) and receptive (reading, listening) areas.

Of course when appropriate, current syllabi for GCSE and A-Level students will be followed.

Personal Description:
I am young, enthusiastic and looking to motivate others to get the most out of their years in education. My personal interests/specialties are: Philosophy (particularly: Ethics, The Philosophy of Religion and Classical Philosophy); Politics (particularly: Political theory and thought, comparative government and international relations); Economics- including microeconomic and macroeconomic levels of analysis; and, English literature- particularly Shakespeare, Blake and Larkin.
When I'm not reading or thinking I like to pursue my other passion in life, Rugby.

Teaching Experience:

My strongest areas are Politics and Philosophy, in which I have tutored students from GCSE to undergraduate level with a proven record of improvement following my intervention. I have taught English, Politics, Economics and Philosophy to A-level standard. My experience of High School teaching (SATS, GCSEs) extends to a good share of the subjects available (please inquire about specific subjects, i might surprise you!).

As an admissions consultant I personally interviewed and prepared over 30 Oxbridge candidates, with a significantly higher proportion gaining entrance compared to the national average.
In addition, I have worked extensively with children aged 6-14 in my role as a summer camp coordinator for Active Nation UK.

Tutoring Approach:

Whilst learning cannot always be enthralling, it should never be dull.
Whether its learning basic Maths and English, passing the Year 9 SATS or getting the right grades for university, I can help.
Students will learn all the essential knowledge to reach their goals at whatever level, as well as extra work on the fundamental underlying principles that extend beyond the syllabus (and into the real world!). This is all made relevant and memorable with interesting examples and additional information that make the core material go down smoothly whilst helping students understand why their subjects matter in the wider world. This approach ensures students become engaged and willing to learn, leading to higher retention rates and ultimately higher marks. Perhaps more importantly, my approach teaches students how to think clearly and creatively, the end result being excellent exam results and transferable thinking skills that will last a lifetime.

I can offer tailored tutoring for all ages, schools admissions advice and University application/ admittance assistance, particularly in entrance to prestigious universities (including actual Oxbridge interview material).

Personal Description:
I am patient and motivated teacher with a valid TEFL/TESOL certification and have experience teaching in Italy, on-line and privately in London.

In March 2012 I returned from a trip which took me through nine countries and different cultures, this experience is what drove me to teach English and learn about other cultures.

My other passions include music, film-making and travelling.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English since February 2013. I taught in Rome, Italy for five months.

Freelance EFL Tutor - Anna Springs Language School/Private, London: October 2013 - Present
I teach students from varied backgrounds, levels and ages. I tailor lessons depending on their needs and interests. I often use media such as film or music as a creative source for my lessons.

EFL Teacher - New British Centres, Rome, Italy: May - July 2013
For the last part of my time in Italy I was employed by two schools, I had to adapt and learn quickly as this school had a specific teaching method. I also applied skills that I had learnt previously.

EFL Teacher - Europe Language School, Rome, Italy: February - July 2013
I taught one to one and groups including preparation for Trinity and Cambridge exams, also grammar and conversation classes. I have gained experience in using skills and techniques acquired during my TEFL course whilst also developing my understanding of learning styles by teaching a variety of people.

On line EFL Teacher: March 2013 - Present
Whilst in Rome I set up an on line teaching website where I taught students from many different countries via Skype. Now I only teach two students this way but they are very satisfied and loyal to the service. I have also taught using other Skype teaching platforms.

Tutoring Approach:

I love the reward of teaching English and the cultural exchange really inspires me, I am a creative teacher and I tailor lessons to suit the students needs and interests. I often use media as a learning source for my lessons.

Other resources include Oxford Headway textbooks and English Grammar in Use. I have experience using books from Trinity, Cambridge, Oxford and English First.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified teacher with a Master's degree in Education and over ten years' experience in South Bucks. My focus has always been to encourage my pupils to improve core skills and build confidence, ensuring that they are well prepared for the next stage of their education.

I continue to teach in local independent and state schools both to keep up-to-date with educational trends and to ensure that my tuition courses prepare children fully for the 11 Plus. I particularly enjoy creating a caring environment for my pupils to realise their full potential.

My lessons encourage children to take an active part in their learning; they thoroughly enjoy participating in educational games and activities, which are constructed to meet their individual targets.

I know that every child has different learning needs and so they are given their own personal goals when attending my courses. The small group sizes ensure that they receive individual attention to help them achieve the best results.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for over ten years, namely at The Beacon School in Chesham Bois and Maltman's Green School in Gerrards Cross.

Tutoring Approach:

This year, over ninety percent of my pupils passed the new Bucks CEM 11 Plus and achieved a place at grammar school.

Along with my team of first class local teachers, I provide specialist tuition for pupils taking the exam. My unique, structured courses are designed to give children the confidence they need to sit and pass exams, in a friendly, stress-free environment.

With us, your child will gain effective learning techniques in verbal, non-verbal and numerical reasoning. The courses are carefully created to reflect the changes set by Bucks County Council and provided by the CEM (Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring), for grammar school entry in 2014 onwards.

The 11 Plus Courses take place in Stoke Poges on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Group sizes are limited, to ensure that every child enjoys individual attention during the lesson.

Before enrolling on the course, your child will complete an assessment, in order to ascertain their specific learning needs. They will then receive a Tuition Plan detailing their specific targets in verbal, non-verbal and numerical reasoning.

Lessons are planned according to your child's individual needs. Targets are reviewed every term in order to monitor progress; this ensures that your child is being challenged appropriately and that skills gaps are being addressed.

A variety of specially prepared resources are used to teach the course, including educational games that are related to each of your child's targets. Lessons include a range of activities to ensure that they are fun and your child is engaged throughout.

With us, your child will acquire the effective learning techniques and study skills that are essential for exam success.
