Personal Description:
HIGHLY QUALIFIED AND SUCCESSFUL TUTOR WITH 8 YEARS TEACHING AND TUTORING EXPERIENCE

I have a 1st Class Hons degree in Biology from Imperial College London and a PGCE from Kings College London.
I have extensive assessment experience including as an examiner for OCR, giving me an excellent insight into what students actually get the marks for at GCSE and how to answer questions successfully.

I have wide experience in teaching Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 (ages 11-18) and have been consistently graded either Good or Outstanding in my lessons.

Additionally, I have tutored a number of primary students to raise confidence or prepare them for secondary school.

I am passionate about my subject and am keen to pass this on to my students.

I have a record of excellent results for students in all 3 sciences and a proven track record at getting pupils to their target grade or better.

Teaching Experience:

KS3 Science and maths
KS4 Triple and double science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology, GCSE and BTEC)
KS5 Biology

I have taught for 8 years in London and Bristol, at key stage 3, 4 and 5 for both double award and triple science GCSE and A level for biology which is my main specialist subject.

I have been graded as outstanding in the majority of my lesson observations over my teaching career and have an excellent record of achievement with all of my classes.

I am very experienced in tutoring science and confidently offer maths as an additional subject to GCSE.

I am currently teaching at School in Bristol where I am teaching KS3, KS4 Science (both the triple and the double award) and A level biology.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to tutor according to individuals needs. I am happy to work through homework, coursework and projects and to help students revise, depending on their requirements for that session, although I will not simply give out the answers but will help them work them out.
I am flexible with my tutoring and am happy to do it weekly or more or less regularly depending on what is is desired, as I only accept a few students at a time, in order to fully cater for my students.

I aim to build a relationship with my students where they are happy to ask any and all questions and lead their own learning in this way. I find that the range of methods and resources I have acquired as a qualified teacher help me to tutor to the individual needs of the student. I am more than happy to adapt methods of learning to assist students learning.

I am usually able to bring a good range of resources but request that pupils provide their school work and books so I can make sure I am teaching the right things.

Personal Description:
Hi, everyone,The academic year is now a term old and things are ticking along nicely for almost all my students of 2016-17. Sadly two have had to drop out of school/college studies because of personal issues which is sad, when the time is right, these two very bright individuals will come back to studying, I'm sure.

I am more busy than ever this year but do have perhaps one or two spaces for students keen to just improve or to transform themselves and their fortunes. However bad things seem, I can show you how make the best of your talents.

Craig

TWO EXAM PAPER NOTICES

A couple of examination paper notices.

1. I am now OCR trained for the new AS level source/essay paper. Obviously this has given me a clear insight into how it's marked and how students need to approach it to be successful.
2. Secondly, the ED Excel Y13 A2 sources & essay paper (three secondary sources): I worked with four students on this last year and achieved spectacular results (these pupils can be contacted; some won't be able to put referees up here because I found all 4 of them via word of mouth and the UK's other major tutoring site). I'm very happy to report that I worked hard and thought hard on refining my advice on the paper and it has clearly paid off handsomely. Do contact me for details; I can pass these on to you prior to your making a decision on whether to engage me (or not as the case may be). Naturally anyone re-taking the A2 paper in 2017 can benefit from this. The new EdExcel History exam has a similar paper so this year's cohort of Y13 students should be able to benefit too.

Note. Because I'm away for the next 3 weeks carrying out research in London and Reading for my PhD I will not be able to begin lessons this year until the last week of September.

Plus:

Important policy change! If your young one or you, the student, is/are one who is not prepared to be coached and trained as our Olympic athletes are - and by this I mean that the performer puts themselves in the hands of the coach and doesn't try to tell them how to do the job - then please do not get in touch: simply pass on to another tutor somewhere else on this site.

---

And now, The Pitch!

So, my name is Craig, a very dedicated one-to-one tutor of History, Politics and English. I offer an exceptionally high level of expertise as a history, politics (and English) teacher, teacher of essay writing, exam writing and exam taking. This is based on well over two decades of experience in schools and in homes. Though I have been teaching a long time, I am continually striving to improve the quality of my work, constantly analyzing the effect of my advice on performance and trying to perfect the art and craft of the job.

When not tutoring, most of my time is spent working (hard!) as a student too! I am just about to begin the third year of my PhD, supervised by Professor Tony Collins of De Montfort University, Leicester, undertaking research in 20th century British history. (Rugby fans might like to note at this point that Tony is the number one rugby historian - of all codes - in the world. All his books are very well worth reading.)

I am exceptionally well qualified. I have an MA (2011) in History and am now two years into my doctoral studies. I have written fiction and non-fiction. I have had experience in being an A level marker with an exam board. I have had long experience in teaching and preparing whole History & Govnt. & Politics year groups for A level, producing outstanding results.

I take on all types of students. Some need a lot of training, some need to be dragged away from a collision-course with failure, some need finessing, some need waking up, some need inspiring, some need a boost in confidence; some need more intellectual stimulation; all can and do improve their writing.

My chief strengths are: 1. I know how to teach students to write. 2. I know how to prepare them for exams. 3. My methods are clear, simple and work beautifully. 4. I care very much about the progression of my students. 5. I treat my work with them with the utmost seriousness. 6. But I'm a human being with a sense of humour! 7. I am very, very experienced. 8. As a parent of three children who have gone through the school and university experience, I understand what both the student and the parent is going through.

I am very happy to work with students online. I have found it to work extremely well.

More on my current research project...
I am currently working on doctoral research into the BBC, sport and social class, 1922-64, with Tony Collins at De Montfort University, Leicester. He is the director of DMU's International Centre for Sports History & Culture, a department of world renown, and the leading British powerhouse of sports history. I am very proud to be working with Tony and within the department. Undergrad students should note that I am working under one of the world's best historians, a 3-time winner of the prestigious Aberdare Prize for Sports Books.

Becoming a student again, beginning with the masters degree course at De Montfort University in 2010 has really helped my teaching. As well as keeping on top of developments in academic history. I am much better read! I know more! It has also taken me right back in touch with what it feels like to be a student and all that follows from that. It has also enabled me to extend my tutoring potential to undergraduates and masters students.

I'm happily married with 3 children fully grown (it's only their father who's lagging behind).

Teaching Experience:

I taught for 24 years in secondary schools in Bromley, Kent and Derbyshire where I now live. History was my specialism but I was head of Politics for a number of years in the last part of my school career. I also taught Geography, Economics, English and R.E.

Since beginning to tutor students, I have taught history, Government & Politics and English (including basic literacy skills to a young person with dyslexia). Courses taught have mostly been those at GCSE and A level.

I have taught a wide range of topics within French, German, Russian and British history. The list includes the usual suspects: causes of World Wars 1 and 2, Hitler and the Third Reich, the French Revolution (and its causes) and Napoleon; also Tsarist Russia, the Russian revolution and Stalin as well as the European Reformation, France in the 16th century, Louis XIV and aspects of Irish and Chinese history and 19th century France, plus 20th century USA. politics (Boom and Bust, New Deal and Post-War Boom, and also the Witchcraft Persecution in Europe (1550-1680).

In terms of British history I am very much up to speed with all aspects of its 20th century political history (high politics, parties, electoral history, social history & economic history, right through to the 21st century, in fact); I have also taught most aspects of 19th history, social, economic and political. For the last decade and a half of my school-teaching career I taught the A level course in 16th and 17th century - The Tudors, James I, Charles I, Causes of the English Civil War, Charles II, James II & the Glorious Revolution, the reigns of William & Mary & Queen Anne.

I have recently added 19th century British politics (Reform Bill through Peel, Palmerston, Disraeli and Gladstone to Salisbury) and Witchcraft in Early Modern Europe to my "roster" of topics.

Since becoming a PhD student my expertise level in terms of content knowledge has leaped forward in 20th century British history. However...

...it isn't the historical content of the course that matters so much: technique is the key; know-how; how to write; how to take an exam; how to prepare for the whole exam period; how to approach the whole thing mentally, psychologically; how to be the best you can be; how to be successful - end of story!

I have worked with students on exam preparation and revision, coursework planning and execution and essay writing techniques. It is here that the battle to improve and to reach a fulfillment of potential, often with the reward of high grades, is usually won.

Tutoring Approach:

I don't tinker around the margins of issues. I give students something all those who come for help require: a method to use to dispose of the problems posed by the issue of writing that dreaded thing: the essay! Not a tinkering round the edges of the thing, a tip here, a bit of advice there, but a comprehensive yet simple and absolutely clear set of actions and principles through which the student can fulfill their potential: show the examiner what they know and understand of the topic.

Following on from the above, my approach to tutoring begins and ends with the drive to be successful. If I did not unfailingly improve students, help them to achieve the grades they want and need I would not be writing this.

In between comes what we might describe as philosophy and methods. It's hard to write about methods without immediately mentioning what I suppose might be my strongest "offer" (I don't much like that word but there, I've used it). As a schoolteacher I developed a unique but simple method of essay planning and writing that achieved stunning results. So successful has it been over 20 years that I am astonished that no one else seems to have found it. But in my experience up to February 2013 no teacher has. Essay writing is still something that many, many students find difficult and confusing. It really does not need to be this way.

Obviously content issues are hugely important and here I rely on my communication skills which have yet to let me down! These, naturally, go hand in hand with a knowledge of British and European history across a variety of years which has grown over recent years particularly through my MA studies, my PhD research and through working with students on a range of historical periods, topics and people. I find myself to be adaptable to different types of students. I am able to adapt my language and my technique to fit the situation. I am also somewhat stubborn in that I never give up on solving a problem. If we have to go over time, so be it!

Finally, some more of my personal philosophies of teaching. I believe that students generally do not achieve their potential. With each student I aim to take them to standards (and grades) that they did not think were possible. Without exception I push, push and push until we run out of time as we inevitably do. I also do not believe in lost causes. Much can be achieved in a very short space of time. I have seen this happen over and over again.

There is much more to be said but that, I hope, will do for now.

Craig

Personal Description:
I am a qualified primary school teacher with 23 years experience working in schools in Eastbourne. My main subject is Art (I have a degree in ceramics) so much of my teaching is through creative, visual, practical and kinaesthetic teaching whereby my pupils enjoy their lessons and are enthused into a love of learning. I am also involved in the Eastbourne Art scene and paint at home when I get the chance. I am friendly, fair and holistic in my approach . I have two children (15 and 17) whom I try and fit my work around and feel I could offer a positive tutoring experience to children and their families in this area of teaching. I can also offer English tuition for those who may have English as an additional language.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified in 1993 with a post graduate certificate in education after having been a self employed potter in Bristol exhibiting my ceramics. I have co-ordinated Art, Maths and played an active role in early years play and learning with all the necessary knowledge of the primary curriculum including the Foundation Stage. I have taught many children with E.A.L. and have a sound knowledge of special needs teaching using methods such as Makaton signing and Widgit symbols to enhance children's understanding. I would use the Numicon system to support primary maths and am familiar with Key Stage 1 and 2 age range as this is what I have taught mostly over the last few years. I am familiar with SATS and have been on many courses over the years on all subjects. I particularly enjoy history, art and maths and could teach very basic French too. I have recently trained to be a specialist language teacher and visit schools across the county.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in encouragement, boosting self esteem and making tutoring interesting, as I have seen what boredom, frustration and poor engagement can do to young children. They need to be switched on and confident in what they do in order to achieve. I always start at a level a child can succeed in and am aware that sometimes you have to change your approach depending on the child. I have a bank of subject and topic ideas suitable for this age range and have been able to think on my toes over the years.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher of English with many years of study, research and training in some of the world's top universities. My qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in English Literature and the Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in English, including Media Studies and Drama. My Initial Teacher Training covered all aspects of English and all abilities in the 11-18 age range. My interests, of benefit to many students especially at university level, include Critical Theory, Classical Literature, and African Literature. I have guided many students doing research and proof-read their dissertations. I have also taken the official training for one-to-one tutors rolled out by the government to complement classroom teaching. I also have experience as a GCSE English examiner for Edexcel and gained the status of Senior Examiner serving as Team Leader from the June 2013 exam series.

Teaching Experience:

My first teaching appointment came in 1988 in Cameroon where I taught English and African Literature, becoming an 'A' Level examiner for the Cameroon GCE examination board in 1990. I later took the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) leading to the PGCE, finishing my last year as Education Student of the Year in my university and receiving a national commendation for the quality of my work. I have since taught in different schools in Kent and Medway, preparing students for exams such as Functional Skills, IELTS, GCSE, 'A' Level, IB and AEA. I have also given one-to-one tuition to looked-after teenagers under a government scheme as well as taught in a secure unit for which, in addition to enhanced disclosure CRBs, I was vetted over a six month period. My first long-term (over 3 months) supply position involved teaching GCSE English, 'A' Level English Literature, and the IB. Most of my teaching has been in selective (grammar) schools. I have also given English lessons in my local community as part of an outreach programme organised for speakers of other languages by my church where I teach Bible Studies also.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to establish the needs of the students and carefully review all available assessment records. If the student is preparing for a special exam such as the GCSE, I would start by ensuring that the student is aware of the full requirements of the exam and establish a clear plan to cover these. Alongside any such programme, I believe strongly in incorporating the fundamentals of English grammar which are sometimes overlooked in formal teaching settings. I like to build a good rapport with the student so that they are comfortable revealing possible areas of weakness that we could turn into strengths.

I am a retired scientist. I worked as a senior scientist for a major pharmaceutical company for more than 30 years. I hold a first class hons degree in chemistry, a degree in maths and a post graduate degree in organic chemistry.

Teaching Experience:

I have successfully tutored students at GCSE and AS/A levels for many years. Currently I am coaching AS/A level students from AQA,OCR A / Salters, EDEXEL and IB boards.

Most of my students improve their grades at least by two levels.

Messages from past students:

15th June 2014:

It has been a pleasure to meet John, I was apprehensive about using a tutor from a website, but luckily for my daughter and I, when asking around both at the school and elsewhere no one knew of anyone they could recommend.

My daughters confidence in chemistry, and her faith in getting the grade she needed to achieve her aim, in doing bio chemistry at university, came on in leaps and bounds.

I would be only too happy to recommend John as a tutor, as he follows up on his pupils, rings them in his own time to check how they did in their tests and exams, his pupils and their results are his top priority.

Thank you so much John, carry on the good work, I know you will.

Valerie, Stevenage.

John has been my daughter's Chemistry tutor for the last 6 months. We have found him to be very knowledgeable and helped her to understand concepts better. He also is very good in explaining difficult topics and also navigating through revision papers and explaining what needs to be done to improve grades. He is very patient and kind which sets him apart. My daughter is an AS student and this has reflected in her grades and confidence. He is an outstanding teacher and I have no hesitation recommending him.

Comments: John has been great for the few weeks he has been helping me out, his knowledge of all the main syllabuses is extremely detailed, which comes into play very well when linking knowledge between each of the modules, perfect for the exam questions posed on A level Chemistry. Very professional and approachable, John insists you make use of his guidance and knowledge whenever need be and that he is always available to assist you in your studies. I feel extremely confident thus far that I can achieve the grade I need with John's help.

16th August 2013:

Hope you and your family are well and you are all enjoying India! We had a wonderful time in India and returned on Saturday night. I tried to call you yesterday and my mum reminded me that you must still be in India.

I achieved A*AA! I got the A overall in Chemistry that I wanted. I am now accepted into St George's University of London and will be started from 23rd September.

A HUGE thank you for all your help over the past year in guiding me with my Chemistry A Level and I hope to see you on your return from India.

Many thanks,

John has helped my son with Chemistry A level since October last year in order to get his Grade from a C to a B. Since working with John, my son's grades have improved tremendously - even to a Grade A in one of his exams this January. John tailors his tutorials exactly to the needs of the student, taking time to ensure that each area is fully understood. My son's teachers noticed a difference in my son's classwork within weeks of seeing John, commenting that his confidence and understanding had improved even at that early stage. I have no hesitation recommending this tutor, and hope to continuing working with him leading up to this Summer.

John has been helping my son with his A levels in chemistry and since then my son's confidence has grown and we have better hopes of my son achieving an A or B grade in chemistry. John works well with my son when teaching and he takes time to explain difficult tasks . i am pleased with John's teaching skills so far and i would gladly recommend him to any one looking for a chemistry tutor and i think his price is fare too.

Tayo, Stevenage.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to work on areas where the students need specific attention rather than systematically going through the whole syllabus. I encourage students to work out past papers giving special attention to appropriate mark schemes. So it is very much hands-on, ensuring that the students have fully understood the fundamentals so that they have full confidence in handling the questions.

Personal Description:
I am working as a full time tutor of Corporate Finance, management accounting, financial accounting, financial reporting, taxation and risk management from last 6 years.

I am ACCA qualified and I also did Masters in International Finance from University of Glasgow. I have 8 years experience of working in financial and Non Financial sectors. Currently studying CTA.

I am highly organised and having excellent communication skills.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring from last 6 years to Graduate and A level student and I have very command over Accounting (both management accounting and financial accounting), taxation and corporate finance.

Most of my students are from CASS, Westminster University, Queen Marry University, London School of Economics, Kings College London, University of London, Imperial College, Greenwich College of Management and Nottingham University.

I teach Corporate Finance, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Taxation and Banking to Graduates. I can also teach basic statistics, accounting to A level students.

I was involved in tutoring since 1998 and till 2006 besides working in a bank.

Tutoring Approach:

Most of my students are from CASS, Westminster University, Queen Marry University, London School of Economics, Kings College London, University of London, Empire College, Greenwich College of Management and Nottingham University.

I am highly educated and always prepare myself well ahead to deliver quality services which help students to achieve good grades in their Exam. I strongly believe that the success of a student is my success.

I always put all my efforts to satisfy both ends. I teach the techniques, ideas, and basics that help the students to understand and develops their base for their future success. Most of the time many students learn something from the books, and when examiner change the data, students always get confuse. It's my job to make students technical, so that they can cope with challenges.

I want my student to question me all the time at the end of the session. If a student doesn't ask question, then I always ask questions to make sure that s/he is getting what has been taught.

Getting a good grade is an achievement for a student and for the teacher. However I will be more excited if my student get a strong base.

Being highly educated and practical I do not feel it hard to deliver quality teaching to my students.

Personal Description:
I am a PhD student with a passion for impacting knowledge in children. I have worked with children for the past 10 years on various subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught children aged between 4 and 11 maths/reading and writing in the past. This was mostly voluntary due to the passion I have for children. I equally tutor chemical engineering students at the university.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach with school books and internet materials. Visual aid is a necessity as it give a clearer picture of what is being taught. The children are made to reflect on what has been learnt prior to the start of a new session. I also take time to study the children in order to identify the strengths and areas that need improvements.

Personal Description:
I have a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Creative Arts, comprising Textile Design and Fine Art, from Bath Spa University, and a Masters Degree in Fashion and Textiles Design from the same university. After completing my degree as a mature student in 2006 I worked as a Textile Designer for a year before setting up a luxury lingerie business, which I closed in 2010 due to the financial situation. However, this experience taught me a great deal about setting up a business and manufacturing a product. Since then I have been self employed as a practising artist/designer and sell my work both online and through exhibitions and fairs.

Teaching Experience:

I spent school holidays working with disadvantaged youngsters on playgroups in Salford, Manchester. After leaving school I spent a year as a Community Service Volunteer in a school for blind children in Newcastle upon Tyne. This involved working with children from the age of three to eleven. I have also helped children with their reading skills at my local primary school when my own children were young. During my degree I mentored students, and completed a work placement at a sixth form college in Birmingham where I tutored students in drawing skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I want to support each individual to realise their potential to the best of their abilities. I aim to help students develop their confidence and creativity using sketchbook work, research and critical analysis, and can assist students with portfolio presentation and with report and essay writing. I have an extensive background in fashion, textiles and painting, with specific knowledge of dye processes, surface design, free embroidery, drawing, Adobe Photoshop and painting, and enjoy helping students progress and excel in these areas.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying for a Masters Degree at the University of Bedfordshire in Theatre Research having completed my undergraduate in Theatre and Professional Practice. My area of expertise involves the Representation of Trans in Political Image based theatre, as well as adapting text for stage.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught at a few different places during my undergraduate degree at different age ranges including, Lower School students age 5-8, Secondary school students from 12-16 and also A-level students. Following on from this I have also tutored students who are currently in their final year of their undergraduate course.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is very simple, I guide my students but it is down to you to lead the way and come up with the answers and the creative ideas yourself. With Theatre and Drama there is no right and wrong, so you can't get things wrong, the important thing is to try out different ideas and see which idea works best for the topic you are dealing with.

Personal Description:
I was born in South Yorkshire. I grew up in Rotherham before gaining a English/History degree in Manchester followed by a PGCE at Sheffield Hallam University.
I am married and have a 10 year old stepson. My interests include reading, music, education, sport, keep fit, current affairs and walking.
I moved down to Devon in September 2016 and am loving the lifestyle down here.
I love my job and feel that my enthusiasm stimulates and encourages my students to excel.

Teaching Experience:

Having gained my PGCE I taught for 9 years in medium-sized village school in a picturesque part of Derbyshire. I very much enjoyed my time there and gained some invaluable experience. I then took up a middle-management post at a suburban school in Doncaster. This was a different experience which enabled me to work with children of many different abilities allowing me develop efficient and successful teaching strategies.
I have a wide range of experience in teaching children from year one to year six. Over the last two years I have done supply work in numerous schools in South Yorkshire allowing me to remain up to date with current trends in teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a friendly, encouraging approach to tuition. I aim to put children at their ease, developing confidence, but like to cover as much ground as possible in the time we have. I ensure students (and their parents) receive clear feedback alongside targets for future development and set additional work to complete between lessons where appropriate. I have a flexible approach to tutoring based on the requirements of the student/parent. Lessons focus on building confidence, consolidating and developing concepts or focusing on specific areas requiring support.
Children learn in different ways and I always endeavour to teach in a manner that complements the student's preferred learning style. I monitor progress using formal and informal methods of assessment and encourage children to use self assessment.
Students can learn by either visiting my home, me visiting them or at a distance using Skype.

Personal Description:
An experienced, intelligent, enthusiastic and focused teacher who is committed to safeguarding and promoting the education and well-being of students at all times. I am passionate about giving students the best and easier methods of tackling basic problems in Maths, Physics and Electronics, and enjoys mentoring students to achieve their career goals. I am able to establish a supportive relationship with not only students but also their parents with the aim of enhancing and reinforcing a student's independence and self-worth. I am someone who is fundamentally committed to good practise and giving back to the society through effective teaching and mentoring methods.

Teaching Experience:

Graduate Assistant, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (2016-Date):

As graduate assistant in the department of Electrical Engineering, University of Nigeria, I taught basic electrical/ electronic engineering modules to undergraduate students.

Part-Time Tutor (2008-2013, 2015-2016):

Taught secondary school students preparing for General Certificate Exam (Equivalent of GCSE), Physics, Mathematics, Electronics, and Statistics.
Also taught university students, mathematics and statistics.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and tackling new and unfamiliar problems. I do this by teaching them the basic concepts using analogies and real world examples. I do not teach nor encourage students to memorise things rather I encourage them to write what they know in their own words in order to boost their confidence and to evaluate their level of understanding.

While tutoring, I usually solve a lot of exam-style examples and pose questions repeatedly in order to evaluate and perfect the student's understanding of basic concepts. I do not bark on students when they fail questions rather I politely correct them in order not to dampen their morale.

I believe passionately in the huge benefit that comes with personal tutoring to students and I am always excited seeing my students graduate with high grades and achieve their full potential in life.

Personal Description:
I am a passionate teacher of English who specialises in GCSE and A Level teaching. As 2nd in department at my current school, I have an excellent knowledge of new exam specifications and skills required. I am enthusiastic, caring and understand that no two students learn in the same way - you can rest assured that lessons will be written specifically for the student to address their current needs. I have built excellent relationships with students and I thoroughly enjoy seeing students grow in confidence and ability.

Teaching Experience:

5 years at a secondary school in East Riding of Yorkshire. I have done private tutoring before and will cater to the individual student's needs.

Tutoring Approach:

On the first meeting I like to sit down with the student and get an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses in the subject, outlining how they like to learn and what strategies they have found work for them in the classroom. From here I will plan bespoke lessons to suit the exam board and the student's needs. I understand that some students will be reluctant to learn, so I try to make lessons as engaging as possible (linking topics to their individual interests wherever possible!) Marked work will be returned promptly to both students and guardians, with further opportunities to make improvements. When working towards examinations, I will provide exam practice material, which will be marked and reviewed.
