Personal Description:
Learn Spanish with a multilingual native English speaker who can guide you through the challenges and pitfalls of becoming fluent in a foreign language. I am a modern languages graduate, qualified translator and freelance tutor of Spanish (Nottingham area - early mornings, evenings and weekends).

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching students of a range of abilities and have taught those who want to learn languages for their own enjoyment in their spare time, as well as those who want to learn for business or academic purposes. I have helped students to prepare for qualifications, both during my time as an English teacher in Spain and as a one-on-one tutor of Spanish in the UK.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my approach to each student and encourage them to contribute ideas for future classes, according to their specific needs and areas of interest. I like classes to be an informal open forum for the discussion of the finer points of grammar, usage and the challenges of translating between languages.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, approachable person with many years of language learning experience so I know myself how hard it can feel at times when learning a language!
I hold a BA in Modern Language Studies (French & Spanish) and a Certificate in Italian with the Open University.
I have A levels in both French [B] and Spanish [B] as well as GCSEs.

Teaching Experience:

I have spent 3 months living and voluntarily teaching English in Costa Rica.

I spent close to a year weekly voluntarily teaching local immigrants to communicate in English.

I spent 2 years working in a secondary school as a Learning Support Assistant for children with Special Educational Needs.

Since 2012, I have been working for Lindsay Does Languages, my own language tuition business. I now tutor online.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that rows and rows of vocab are not only monotonous but also repetitive, and dare I say it, boring!
There are many more fun and varied ways to teach and learn a language. It's important to remember that everyone has different learning styles and what works with one brilliantly, may go straight over an other's head! However, a positive and energetic approach is always necessary.

Personal Description:
I am a highly motivated, friendly and professional tutor. I am a Sociology and Psychology Lecturer at an Independent College with extensive experience (over 15 years) of teaching both subjects at A level (AQA specification). I am passionate about my subjects and enjoy working with young people and passing on this passion and motivating them to reach their potential.

My teaching style is very interactive using students' existing knowledge and developing this further. Students are persuaded to stretch themselves and work as hard as possible in order to achieve success.

I have the ability to convey understanding in relation to complex areas of both subjects and I am able to communicate effectively to people at different academic levels and of varying academic ability.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience teaching the AQA specification for both Psychology & Sociology. I have an excellent track record with 70% of Sociology students and 60% of Psychology students achieving grades A-B (June 2016 results).

For the past 15 years, I have also taught private students both subjects at A level on a one-to-one and small group basis. Many of my students have continued to study these subjects at degree level.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is very student-centred, tailored to each student's individual requirements. I tend to use a two-way interactive approach with a focus on problem areas and difficulties that the student may need to work through. I like to use a variety of teaching techniques such as discussions, white board and powerpoint slides.

I believe that in order to achieve success students benefit from learning good exam techniques and also by working through past exam papers and plenty of practice answering exam questions.

Personal Description:
My name is Lauren, I am 18 years old, and I am currently a student at Coventry University studying Spanish BA Single Honours, with TEFL (Teaching English as a foreign language). I am originally from Dorset, where I studied Spanish at GCSE and A Level, acquiring an A* at GCSE and a B at A Level. I believe I am a hard working individual with every intention on making sure I achieve what I set out to do. I enjoy helping others, working, and socialising with my friends, and I get on really well with new people.

Teaching Experience:

In the past I have helped out with some younger classes at my secondary school when they needed some assistance in some of the classes. Also, as my sister is 5 years younger than me, I have always been the one helping her with homework, or helping if there is something she does not understand. This means that I have some experience working with people who are in the age group I intend to teach.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a structured hour of work where the pupil is thoroughly engaged throughout the session. I think that there is a lot of importance in learning 'discovery' which is where the pupil is not spoon-fed information, but rather encouraged to try and work out patterns in the language e.g. grammar. Obviously if the pupil gets stuck I will help them. I also think grammar is an important part of learning Spanish language due to all of the verb conjugations and gender agreements etc. Homework is also important as doing a little each day is definitely one of the best ways to learn.

Personal Description:
My wife and I with our one daughter have recently moved to Chorley from Lancaster. I'm a retired medical physicist from South Africa. I know what it is to have to work hard at one's studies when one's natural ability is limited. I love helping people to break through the things that limit them from achieving.

My passion is to be able to help young people prepare to face the challenges of life.

With Judeo-Christian instruction largely removed from schools in the UK there is a great need to encourage more young people in understanding their Christian heritage on which this country has been built. And, so they can build their own lives on a solid foundation of the principal and ethics found in Scriptures.

Teaching Experience:

I have always enjoyed coming alongside young people and helping them come to understand and to apply this understanding to practical situations. That said, I have had limited formal teaching experience but much more one on one tutoring in different subjects. One of my pupils went on to be a military helicopter pilot which needed a high level of mathematical ability that I believe I helped him to achieve.

Tutoring Approach:

With both Maths and Physics if there is a lack of good foundational understanding then building on weak foundations will lead to problems. So a key to good tutoring is the identification and strengthening of these weak areas. Then the confidence of the pupil can be rebuilt so they can believe they can do what is required. With this approach I believe the pupil will not only do well in these subjects but will also be able to apply them to life in general.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Eva, and I would describe myself as a very warm, friendly, straight forward and patient person, with excellent communication skills. I have an incredibly strong academic record (A-Levels: English Literature-A*, Drama-A*and French-A) and a genuine love for reading, theatre, and music. I feel passionate about bringing success and confidence to those I teach, and I aim to inspire my pupils to have a real interest for the subject!

Teaching Experience:

I have regularly helped younger siblings with English homework, and given them the confidence to become braver and more vocal in the classroom. I am able to clearly explain exam and revision technique - which is often the key to improving grades.
I have previously set up a school drama club, and have led games and prepared lessons for groups of children. I enjoyed the challenge and process of this hugely, and know from verbal feedback that they did too! I hugely value the time I spent with these students and their inquisitive minds. As a result of my commitment to this club I was awarded the school's Eunice Hobbs prize for Initiative.
During my degree I was given the role as music teacher, singing teacher and pianist for one of the productions that was being put on. I enjoyed this hugely, and found the work to be incredibly satisfying. The group was made up of university students who had a huge range of musical abilities, and I feel that I was able to attend to each individual's needs by giving clear explanations and ways to think about music.

Tutoring Approach:

I graduated from Guildhall School of Music & Drama with a First Class Honours Degree, and feel that this is a wonderful foundation for tutoring. I feel passionate about helping pupils with Drama, English, or Music, and believe that I would be able to give excellent tutoring lessons. I feel very confident in one-to-one teaching scenarios, and believe I am sensitive to an individual's needs. I do not believe in "one size fits all", and am a great fan of finding out the right way and approach for everyone. Having rigorously gone through GCSEs, A-Levels and then a degree myself, I know how vital it is to feel confident in your own revision technique. I think it is also important to have a sense of fun when learning - and I believe I can bring this to the lesson!

Personal Description:
I am an experienced and qualified tutor based in London and I am offering One-to-One tuition to students of all ages and levels. I can coach you in preparation of internationally certified exams or simply help you learning a new language or improving your skills (grammar, reading, conversation, speaking...)

Teaching Experience:

I have several years experience as a tutor and private teacher for small groups, and I am confident teaching students of any age.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student's understanding and technique. I also give a lot of emphasis to some of the less obvious but vital skills such as essay structure and technique, logical thought, and the effective use of numbers and graphs.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Charlotte and I am 19 years old. Having just come out of secondary school I understand the level needed to pass exams and that extra something to really get the top marks. I studied French, geography and Spanish at A-level. I studied Spanish, French and Chinese at Univeristy of Warwick but now have decided to move on to International Management with Spanish at University of Bath. I am a fun, friendly person who loves my subjects and would love to help other people enjoy them.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English in a Spanish school, students ranging from 10-19 so I have experience with a wide range of ages.

Tutoring Approach:

Relaxed environment, no reprimanding if student doesn't understand straight away, I will explain in a different way. I am a big believer in practical learning so will have conversations in chosen language or we will talk through the geography together.

Personal Description:
My name is Carolina, my mother language is Spanish and I am 34 years old. I am a qualified Spanish tutor and I cover both Castilian Spanish and Latin American Spanish. I love languages and being able to teach Spanish is an enriching experience for me and I want to carry on learning other languages myself as it is a totally open door to the world and it is what I like to transmit to each of my students.

Teaching Experience:

I have a wide experience teaching and assisting English teachers and other subjects in my hometown so I know how to give a personal value to each of my students as everyone is different and unique and I am completely conscious of the different teaching methods suitable for individual needs. Teaching and learning a language should be enjoyable and fun, with plenty of opportunities to make and correct mistakes without embarrassment and always with a wide-open window for the communication, which is the base of any language.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe learning a new language is a challenge for anyone and for some people could be easy to comprehend certain things and not so easy other type of things, but when learning the language in a context, where the student is able to see the full picture of the form of the language and be able to explore why its the way it is, is what I strongly believe is the best method of learning. A word on its own does not mean anything in any language, but when you put it on a context, then it takes shape, a nice shaped like a puzzle.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy working directly with others, preferably one on one, to help them develop their knowledge about a subject. This applies especially to biological sciences, which I'm passionate about. Combined with my range and depth of knowledge of the subject area, as well as understanding how university work is assessed and what constitutes good exam technique, I am confident to work with someone to help them achieve their full potential in the subject. I am also experienced at working with a range of learning styles and like to work with the student to see what best works for them with regards to getting the most from and improving their study. I am also a very sociable and friendly person who has a great love of science, which I think comes across in my teaching style, approaching the subject as something that can be both interesting and enjoyable to tackle learning.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate from the University of Kent - I graduated with a First Class Honours in German. I live in Sidcup (South East London) and currently have a part time job in London, but am looking to use my German skills a lot more than I do currently. I enjoy reading, watching films and listening to music!

Teaching Experience:

During my university studies, I did a year abroad in Germany where I worked as a Teaching Assistant. I helped teach English to pupils aged 10 to 18 and did private tutoring with two pupils. I successfully tutored each of them in both English and German!

Tutoring Approach:

I listen to what the pupil wants, and plan my lessons accordingly. At first, I will try a variety of different exercises in order to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie, and work both with their textbooks and create my own exercises to help them enhance their skills, focussing on where they most need improvement e.g. pronunciation, different aspects of grammar or missing vocabulary.
