Personal Description:
I am married with two young children. I enjoy all sports and travelling.

Teaching Experience:

I am Head of Chemistry at a large 14-18 Leicestershire Upper School. I have taught at this school for 24 years. I teach GCSE and A-Level Chemistry. I have about 18 years tutoring experience with much success. As well as teaching AQA A-level and GCSE Chemistry, I have tutored OCR, Salters and EDEXCEL. Indeed, one of my private students achieved 100% in an A-level Chemistry module last year and this year another student achieved 100% in an AQA GCSE Chemistry module. My students consistently achieve over 90% in examinations.
I do tutor all abilities and all my students reach their potential and beyond.
I am Principal Examiner for IGCSE Chemistry for Cambridge International Examinations. I also set GCSE Chemistry Questions and check question papers before they are sat.
Recently, I have been tutoring students in preparation for the Chemistry component of the GAMSAT Examination - used as a route into medicine by some students.
I also use Skype and email for online tutoring. I am tutoring many students by Skype from all over the country. It is very successful and means that I can now offer tuition to students without any travelling involved or who live just too far away from me to travel. If you would like to try this as an option please get in touch with me. I can definitely recommend tutoring by Skype - try it if you live too far to travel.

Tutoring Approach:

I think the key to excellent examination results is confidence in being able to tackle the questions set. I, therefore, focus on passed papers alongside the teaching of the theory. I expect the students to ask about parts they do not understand and build on this whilst building up their understanding and knowledge.

Personal Description:
I hold a PGCE in Modern Languages and English, a PGCE in Dyslexia/ SpLD and a Master 's Degree in Special and Inclusive Education. I am of French and Italian origin, therefore speak both languages at native speaker level, and I also speak English fluently. My Spanish is excellent and I can, and have done so, teach German too.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching French and Spanish to GCSE level, and tutoring privately several students for French A'level, as well as dyslexia / reading and writing difficulties (both primary and secondary age). I taught Italian to adults, up to GCSE level, at the local college, for several years, and English as a Second Language for many years when I worked abroad, preparing students for the TOEFL qualification. I am also the Regional Primary Languages Trainer, teaching primary school pupils and training teachers.

Tutoring Approach:

I value one-to-one or small groups lessons as I can give individual attention to the students. I make them feel that they can achieve and use games and various techniques to make the lessons interesting and relevant. I have a wide range of resources at hand and I am constantly writing new ones. I prepare my lessons thoroughly in advance and deliver them with enthusiasm and care.

Personal Description:
I work with my students to increase their confidence and help them improve their communication skills, in speaking and writing.

I have an English Degree from Bristol University, and I speak fluent French. I have a Trinity TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification.

I have worked as a writer, journalist and editor in this country and abroad, for magazines, newspapers and the BBC World Service.
I have worked for the UN and the EU, as well as many private clients and international aid agencies.

I came to tutoring in Africa, where it was clear that my services and experience could be very useful to students at all levels: I have taught one to one and in small groups, privately and most recently for a comprehensive school in Surrey.

I have also edited an MA thesis in History of Art for the Courtauld and some theses for Sotheby's History of Art students (we normally do very well!).

I have an Assessor's and Verifier's Award for CITY and Guilds NVQ courses. I am also teaching English and other subjects in Prisons in London, Kent and Sussex.

I am a mother of two boys, both now at university. My husband works in conservation which is why the family has travelled extensively. We are now back in England for the foreseeable future.

Teaching Experience:

Private students (A level and GCSE) and also teach GCSE English on a 1:1 basis to the lower sets of students at Jubilee International High School in Surrey. They have all raised their grades significantly and are much more confident with their work.
EFL at Guildford College to young Spanish students - Summer 2013.
I speak fluent French; I was a governor at Cranbrook School in Kent, and stood in for a term for the French assistante when she had to go home early. My A level students did well, and two continued their classes with me privately.
Tutor at Make the Grade tuition in Tunbridge Wells and also at summer English revision courses at Tonbridge School.
I devised and delivered a course for women journalists in Sierra Leone and taught creative writing and English at Foura Bay University.
Creative writing privately to groups, and at the University of Kent. I have helped students with presentation and interview skills, their CVs and Drama and Performing Arts GCSE.
Assessed NVQ Level 2 students in Customer Service with a 100% pass record.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand communication at all levels - verbal, written and on the web - and I am passionate about making people understand each other. I care very much about the basics - grammar, punctuation, spelling, and I have devised effective study skills tools which make a real difference.

My sessions are fun and inspiring. I am patient, and approachable, and work hard with my pupils to help them reach their full potential. I cannot do magic, but even the least able have contacted me after their exams to tell me they felt more confident about them. Some even told me they enjoyed them!

Personal Description:
I am a career scientist working in research in the field of Child Health at the University of Manchester. My first degree was in Physiology and Zoology and my doctorate is in molecular biology and membrane transport

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience of teaching both small groups and 1:1, including ESL students. Throughout my university career I have taught at undergraduate and postgraduate level and have had pastoral responsibility for students in the department. Since having my own children I have actively engaged in outreach activities to both junior and secondary schools. Recently, prior to becoming a tutor I spent 1 year working with KS2, KS3 and GCSE students

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that in order for my students to achieve their best my role as a tutor is to build confidence, stimulate interest and consolidate knowledge. I recognize the difference in learning styles between individuals and employ a range of teaching approaches to address these, always tailored to the individual student

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified secondary school art teacher, and university lecturer in History of Art. I completed my PhD in History of Art at University College London (UCL) in 2013. I have published my research in a number of academic journals and edited book collections, and I am currently a Research Fellow at Cornell University Society for the Humanities, USA.

I'm currently based in the United States until August 2017, and I'm presently offering Skype tutorials only until this time. As of August/September I will be based in Hulme, Manchester and can travel up to 20 miles from the city centre, or meet students at my central Manchester art studio. I'm available for Skype appointments at any time, taking into account the time difference (-5 hours EST).

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully trained secondary school teacher, specialising in Art & Design and Photography at KS3, KS4 & KS5. I have 10 years teaching experience, including working as a specialist Learning Support Teacher, and in Special Needs schools catering for children and young adults with a range of special educational needs, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple disabilities.

I have particular expertise in studio practice (art and design), digital and darkroom photography (theory, history and practice), literacy, social and vocational skills, as well as History of Art, Anthropology and History of Medicine at undergraduate level.

I am also experienced in teaching at undergraduate level, having taught gallery-based first year History of Art courses, for University College London's History of Art Department, and on the History of Art degree programme at the University of Manchester.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a one-to-one, flexible approach to learning and teaching, which first establishes the needs and goals of the student, and then sets out clearly structured strategies for achieving these goals. These may be results-focused when preparing for exams, or aimed at developing a broader understanding of a subject area, depending upon the student's own priorities. I am happy to work with any course materials the student may provide, and I am familiar with all current GCSE and A Level syllabuses. I am able to guide both GCSE and A Level students through their studies, offering consistent, dedicated 1-2-1 tuition for the full term of the course. I can also provide practical tuition for students who are preparing their art portfolios for University submission, and can offer assistance with UCAS forms and references for students who undertake long-term A Level tuition with me.

Tutoring may take place at the student's home, or at my art studio in central Manchester, where I can provide a range of art materials and resources by prior arrangement, for more intensive practical art sessions. Please note that I can travel within 20 miles of central Manchester based on the fee structure quoted below, travelling further will incur a small additional fuel fee.

I have had recent successes with my private students, one of whom attended one-to-one sessions at my Manchester studio for 8 weeks and improved her predicted GCSE Art result of a B by two grades, achieving an A* in her final art exam. My most recent undergraduate students have also attained First class results in their undergraduate degrees. One student achieved a high score of 78 on her History of Art dissertation project with intensive tutorial support conducted via Skype; and another progressed from a fail during the first year of his Visual Communication degree, to a First class final result in his third year, following 2 years of regular commitment to one-to-one tutoring.

*Please note that due to the time-intensive nature of undergraduate level tutoring, I am only able to take on a maximum of three undergraduate tutees at any given time. Please see below for my current availability for tutoring at this level.*

I am currently tutoring TWO undergraduate students.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

GCSE Level:

University Undergraduate Level:

"I wanted a tutor to give me help and advice on my undergraduate history of art dissertation. I needed reassurance that what I was writing was okay and some one to proof read and give me their opinion on my arguments. Gemma was brilliant, she gave me the confidence that I needed to keep going with my dissertation by reassuring me that I was on the right track. She discussed my ideas with me in detail, proof read all of my work and suggested and sourced articles that I might want to have a look at. I have recently graduated from Newcastle University with a First in History of Art and Media and I know that I owe Gemma a huge thank you for the support she gave me on the way to achieving this."

- Celandine, Newcastle.

Personal Description:
There are plenty of "tutors" who offer many different subjects over a wide age range. However, I only offer A-level or I.B. Diploma (or equivalent)in maths, physics and chemistry to students who are still at school. I keep to just this because (so I'm told) I'm very good at teaching these subjects at this level, and it's what I enjoy doing.

As well as teaching I have published four maths books, available in hard-copy and kindle versions. One at GCSE level, two at A-level, and one that can be used by both age groups. These have sold worldwide.

It should also be noted that I only tutor from my home. With the number of students I tutor travelling would not be practical. There are plenty of tutors that are cheaper than me and prepared to travel, but a look at their qualifications and experience might make you think twice about using them.

Teaching Experience:

I have qualifications from excellent UK universities in all the subjects that I offer, and I am a UK qualified teacher. However, I'm very proud of the fact that most of my classroom teaching has been done outside the UK. This means that I have taught in good, well resourced, schools, which are not afflicted by the malaise from which so many UK schools suffer, and where the academic expectations of the school, parents and students are high. In such schools one is able to concentrate on ones teaching, which is seldom the case in UK schools. This is why I am now a full-time tutor. I can devote my energies completely to teaching the subjects I enjoy. In this capacity I teach many more hours A-level than the vast majority of classroom teachers. In fact, I probably teach more A-level in each of my subjects than most school based teachers do.

As already mentioned, as well as teaching in England I`ve also taught in New Zealand, Germany and Italy. I`ve taught across the entire 11 to 18 age range and at all abilities from struggling 11 year old students to top set 18 year old students. I`ve taught in all-boys schools, all-girls schools, mixed schools, FE and sixth form colleges. This has been at schools that get good results!

As well as A-Level, I`ve taught IB Diploma: at both Standard and Higher Levels (also Mathematical Studies). This has been mainly maths, but also some physics and chemistry. I`ve given intensive revision courses in Standard Level Mathematics, and Higher Level Mathematics, which were very well received. I should also mention that IB Diploma is more demanding than A-level - on both the student and the teacher.

So, whether you need help with your chemistry, physics, or ANY area of maths, I`ve got recent experience teaching all of these. This has been across several exam boards: Edexcel, AQA and OCR.

Among the schools whose students I have recently tutored are: Dame Alice Owen`s School, Enfield County School, Enfield Grammar School, Highlands School, Hockerill Anglo-European College, Princess Helena College, Southgate School, St. Michael`s Catholic Grammar School, The Latymer School, The Royal Masonic School for Girls, and Woodhouse College.

Tutoring Approach:

I`m typically very informal and relaxed, which most students seem to appreciate.

When you come to me, you get to choose what you want help with. Unlike far too many tutors I won`t try to tell you what the lesson should be about, unless this is something you want me to do. In fact, some of my students have been known to ask for (and receive) help in maths, physics and chemistry, all in one session.

Personal Description:
Hello! I am Maria. I am a Spanish who has been living in Bedford for two years. I have got plenty of experience in teaching one to one and other education methods. I just love teaching as I think that what you teach someone remains there forever, it is like a gift for live. I reckon that learning is the best human ability and I like being part of that.

Teaching Experience:

I have a great background teaching both children and adults. I started tutoring children when I was a student at the university and then I carried on doing it for a few years. I worked also for many years in a science company where I provided science classes in schools as well as activities, shows and workshops.
I also have a broad experience teaching Spanish and helping my students either to pass their language test or to be able to communicate while living or going on holiday to Spain and South America.

Tutoring Approach:

Language are the key to communicate, and that is always in my mind when I teach spanish. The lessons are always dynamic and guided to make students speak and understand quickly and successfully. It's a different method designed to enjoy learning from the beginning and really focused on pronunciation.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, approachable, fifth year medical student currently studying at Imperial College London. I am very passionate about education and I find great satisfaction in helping people achieve.

I have GCSEs in Maths, German, French, Geography, Graphics, English Literature, English Language, Religious Studies, IT, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, A2 levels in Maths, Chemistry and Biology and an AS level in Geography. Before commencing my medical studies I read Biochemistry for 4 years at Warwick University and achieved a 2:1.

Due to my experience in applying to medical school I am happy to help with personal statements, UKCAT and interview technique. Having sat in on the interview panels for 2 years at Imperial I can give first hand advice on exactly what medical schools are looking for at interview, and what they want to read on a personal statement.

Teaching Experience:

At Warwick University I was employed as a Biostatistics tutors for the first years for 1 academic year. I also have an abundance of experience working with younger children through various volunteering schemes and therefore I am experienced in helping children of all ages reach their full potential in many aspects of their lives, not just academically.
I have taken 3 students through their GCSEs over the last couple of years and have relished watching their grades and confidence improve

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in tailoring tutoring to each individual's learning style to get the best out of our time together. I do this whilst also trying to create an enjoyable working environment to encourage maximum learning potential. This is especially important with younger students; I want them to enjoy our sessions so that they look forward to them and get the most out of them.
I am also happy to set work to be done outside of the sessions, which can then be worked on together in future meetings.

Personal Description:
I am a part time lecturer at Gray's working on the short courses programme. I teach on the Portfolio Building, Drawing and Mixed Media courses. I am shortly to have an exhibition at the Howden Park Centre in Livingston as part of a six month residency. I am Recent graduate of the Slade MFA program and I have been consistently exhibiting since, such as the Creekside open selected by Richard Deacon/Lisa Milroy, the BFA Futures at the Mall gallery, York College and the Zetta Hotel in London. I have also been establishing a drawing and painting workshop at Marymount International school and have given talks on my work and the benefits of doing an MA.

I came to Art in my 30's as a mature student via short courses. This form of education is a great way of developing artists through a different route than more traditional means while opening up opportunities to a diverse field of practitioners. I feel very passionate about education and how it has transformed my own life which has given me fantastic opportunities that I could never have thought of. I believe that art should be for all and that everyone has the potential to be a great artist.

My own work involves drawing from life through strict observation through the genre of still life in. I work in oil, watercolour and acrylic which continues into both portraits and landscapes. With these I explore the relationship between the hand and the eye, nature and culture, the raw and the cooked and how this dichotomy exists in the historical and contemporary art. For example I am interested in the Gesture of the hand in Velazquez, Titian and Tintoretto as apposed to established Renaissance painting which where drawn and then filled with colour. I see a mirror to this in more conceptual art such as Art and Language or Sol Le Witt compared to a gestural painters such as Philip Guston, Morandi or Joan Mitchell.

Teaching Experience:

Present- Gray's School of Art 'Foundation Portfolio Building/Plus'. Mixed Media and Drawing (Short Courses)

2016- Marymount International School, 'Drawing from a Personal Object' workshop, ongoing.

2015- Kingston University, MA presentation

Awards
2016 Aberdeen City Council Creative Funding
2016 BFA Futures Award- Finding the Future of Figurative Art
2015 The Desiree Prize for Painting
2015 Nominated for the Land Securities Studio Award
2015 The Bergman Residency, Taroudant, Morocco
2012 The AP Fitzpatrick Prize for Painting

Tutoring Approach:

I believe drawing to be at the basis of all work. I see having a firm grasp of drawing from life as a key skill behind any artistic endeavour.

My own skills include:

Drawing and painting. (Accurate measuring and proportion, perspective, colour and tone.)
Oil, acrylic and watercolour techniques, uses and preparation.
Extensive knowledge of grounds, substrates and supports.
Working with clay, wood and metal
Photography and documentation of work by with Photoshop and a DSLR
Bronze Casting
Current issues and developments in contemporary art
Developing ideas through practice and research into finished work.
Application and interview techniques including portfolio preparation.

Personal Description:
I have a Diploma in Fine Art and a Degree in Art. I am also a qualified teacher and manage a very successful full time art education business, which takes me across Hertfordshire and into London to teach children, teens and adults. My own work explores the fine arts and has been shown in galleries across Australia. When I am not teaching or coordinating arts education programmes for public spaces I spend time working on my own artworks. I love to teach art, its highly rewarding and meaningful to give students the skills to be creative.

Teaching Experience:

I have 8 years teaching experience with children aged 4-19 years old and 2 years experience teaching adults. I have taught for schools, galleries, courses and privately. I am currently teaching art classes for 5 schools and have several regular private students. I can teach pencil, pen, charcoal, chalk pastel, watercolour, oil and acrylic paint. I have coached many students through their GCSEs, A Levels and university portfolios. Students can either come to my studio or I can visit you!

Feedback from customers:

"Thank you so much for helping my daughter get her portfolio ready, she couldn't have done it without your guidance and its been a pleasure having you in our home. Thank you!" - Terry, mum of Tara (16 years)

"I never knew there was so much to learn about art! My 2 children loving having their very own art tutor, its developed their ability and they can now do artwork with confidence" - Maya, mum of Nicola & Jake (10 & 12 years)

"Amber was recommended to me to help my son put a portfolio together in order to apply for graphic design BA courses. The catch was, there were only two weeks to do so. Amber introduced him to new techniques and media with which he was able to create great pieces of work, she advised him on the structure and the visual layout of his portfolio and how to make it look fit for university interviews. She was amazingly accommodating and flexible at all times. With her work, she not only inspired my son but the rest of us as well - She is an amazing artist indeed! most importantly, my son got offered and accepted a place in Falmouth Universtity (his first choice). He continues to explore the techniques Amber taught him and has got confidence to venture further afield with his art. I hope to have some tutoring from Amber for myself and my daughter in the future too. A truly inspirational, calm and relaxing art adventure. Thank you Amber! We were very lucky to find you." - Renata, mum of Lucas (18 years)

Tutoring Approach:

As a qualified teacher I have a very calm approach to teaching because the journey and the end result are as important as each other. I have creative problem solving skills and I am able to encourage and support students to push past their personal creative barriers. I always bring a smile and a sense of humour to classes because its important for students to feel comfortable around me.

To every private class I teach I bring an easel or board and a range of materials to save you time and money. I spend a lot of time planning and preparing so that the student gets the best from the time spent with me.

Personal Description:
I am a third year student studying International Business with German at the University of Birmingham. I am a good communicator who can speak four languages fluently: English, German, Ukrainian and Russian. Although originally I come from Ukraine, Russian is my native language as I was born and lived in Odessa (Russian speaking part of Ukraine) for most of my life. I have also completed full secondary education in Russian back in Ukraine and at the age of 17, I moved from Ukraine to further my studies in England. I enjoy meeting new people, understanding their background and where they're from as well as exploring new places and cultures.

I am also a motivated individual, who loves helping people to learn something new and seeing them progress.

Teaching Experience:

In Ukraine I used teach children aged from 10-15 English language, helping them with their school homework and constantly taking a step further with their language knowledge. Also back in boarding school in England I used to help English pupils, who were studying Russian for their A-levels to prepare for their wiring and oral exams.

Tutoring Approach:

As a fluent speaker of four languages, I really do understand all the challenges learners of the new language might face. I believe that vocabulary and grammar are basis for any language studies. It provides fundamentals, which with practice will improve the language skills itself. However, knowing grammar rules isn't helpful until you can actually use it in real world. Thus, I believe that combining both grammar and speaking exercises in classes can bring the best results, trying to use grammar rules, while speaking.

I would divide sessions in two parts trying to cover both grammar and speaking on different topics. This should improve both the use of grammar and vocabulary skills. I am also happy to support any current academic material and answer any questions a learner might have. By following such teaching strategy, step by step, a learner will improve the knowledge of the language.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly maths tutor local to Camborne, Falmouth and the surrounding area offering one-to-one tutoring to give extra support not often given in the classroom. I work full time as an design engineer, so I am available in the evenings and weekends. I teach up to GCSE level maths I have a 1st class masters degree in engineering. Whether you just need the occasional session to go over problem areas within the curriculum, or if you need regular study time, or even just help with homework, I am flexible depending on what the student needs. I can tutor at your home if you require, but I also offer tutoring from my own home, in a relaxed environment.

Teaching Experience:

I have 2 years experience working as a design engineer, applying my maths skills everyday. I have tutored on and off for 4 years teaching both maths and also offering guitar lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to try and understand what the student requires, and address these requirements specifically to give the best results. Should you need help on one aspect of the curriculum (people often shudder at the thought of algebra!), we can overcome the fear the y's and x's and master the topic. Should you need help keeping up in the classroom, or not understanding before the teacher moves on, we can take our time in the evening to make sure nothing has been missed. Should you need to get through an exam, we can make a study plan together to make sure you get the grade you want! I believe there is no 'one size fits all' to learning maths, and we can discuss all the details at your leisure.

Personal Description:
CIAO A TUTTI!

My name is Stefano, a Ph.D. student in Italian Studies at the University of Reading, where I have been teaching since 2014.

There is no age limit for learning ITALIAN!

Grazie e a presto,
Stefano

Teaching Experience:

I have been a part-time teacher at the University of Reading since 2014.

I have a good level of experience in teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

In Italy, I have taught on XIX and XX century Italian literature at the Universitą di Chieti and on Dante and Italian Philology at Salerno. Since moving to Reading, I have taught on literature and theatre as well as contemporary and modern European history. At Reading, I am also the leader of study sessions on feminism and fascism.

Here I am also a Study Skills Adviser.

You may also visit my academic profile (conferences, publications, translation, theatre at Reading) on academia.edu.

Tutoring Approach:

Interactivity and students' involvement are at the core of my teaching. My focus is on the creation of original learning activities.

I have always believed in teaching Italian language and culture in a more dynamic and informal way.

In Italy, I taught elocution classes and theatre for students of all ages. At Reading, I founded the 'Italian Theatrical Group' within the Department of Modern Languages to improve students' linguistic fluency and knowledge. I find extremely useful recording scripts and rehearsals to give students feedback as well as to encourage their creativity and self-correction.

My lessons are specifically tailored on students' needs, individual or groups, children or adults.

Thanks to my theatrical experience, my lessons for CHILDREN will include the use of 'puppets' and other activities to be decided time by time, according to the topic and tutees' needs.

For ADULTS: As well as standard lessons, I also offer to translate/proof-read Cv, COVER LETTERS, AND ANY OTHER DOCUMENT, CERTIFICATE OR CREATIVE WORK.

FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT PRICE AND OFFERS, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic Spanish Tutor with a passion for teaching at all levels and I am committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. As a native Spanish speaker, I am oriented to cultural diversity, world history, high professional standards and good planning.

Teaching Experience:

Currently, I am working part-time at Scarborough Sixth Form College as a Spanish Language Assistant (AS/A2) and Spanish Tutor (Lifelong Learning/Beginners) since 2015. Through this, I have gained valuable experience of working with young people and adults by employing strategies for differentiation in teaching and learning, as well as by adopting a creative and imaginative approach to developing resources.

In addition, during this period of time, I have been building up my experience in Private Spanish Tuition since 2014 by working with students towards basic, intermediate and advanced proficiency in the Spanish Language, including the use of the GCSE framework.

Tutoring Approach:

During lessons and conversation sessions I employ strategies that help to improve students confidence in communication by encouraging them to speak naturally and using body language (facial gestures) as well as tone of voice properly, as this is an important part of the culture in Spanish speaking countries; Also I always motivate them to continue studying languages by remarking the advantages of this for their professional and personal future. I do believe that the key to being successful in this is to reinforce the strengths of students rather than just focus on their weaknesses and the fact that every student deserves attention as well as a fair treatment according to their needs.
