I am a 31 year-old prize-winning Masters graduate in Mathematics from Oxford University, and I also hold Top Candidate Notifications for my performances in A-level maths and further maths, and another such notification for my performance in GCSE Statistics. Teaching Experience:

I have seven full years experience as a full-time private tutor. My role addresses the pitfalls of a mainstream education by truly individualising it, and is perfected through thousands of hours of experience of striving to achieve precisely that. My thirst for knowledge has allowed me to develop a true understanding of mathematical concepts: I have frequently played the role of the consultant throughout my mathematical career, have been able to help my peers and students avoid the pitfalls usually associated with difficult ideas and am able to explain things from numerous angles.

Tutoring Approach:

Traversing the mathematical landscape is an art; it can be a very uncomfortable environment for some. I find it so important to make my students feel at ease and to find confidence in their maths and so important to be friendly and patient. I am not a suited, booted assessor, nor old-school, to be frank! The feedback I've received indicates that I am very successful in creating a supportive atmosphere that encourages discussion, openness and good effort.

As well as engaging with students in this manner, my aim as a maths tutor is to get my students to 'think mathematically'; to uncover the inherent simplicity in methods and concepts and to truly understand what is being worked with. It is my business to focus thought, prevent confusion and stimulate the development of good ideas. I employ illuminating explanations and navigate sticking points, and as a result maths should be considerably easier to handle under my guidance.

As well as offering support for those with difficulties or specific grade aspirations at standard levels, I can also challenge the very able as intensely as they could hope for, introducing them to the mindset, rigour and practise required for the more challenging AEA and STEP papers. At university I was lucky enough to find myself one to whom others turned with maths troubles: I have been depended on to explain advanced maths effectively for years. I am sure this accounts for two more areas of particularly positive feedback I've received as a tutor: in explaining concepts and in effectively dealing with problems as they arise.

I provide tuition either at my home in central Cheltenham, or at the homes of students within a 30-mile radius of it (dependent on particular location).

I am here to provide a complete teaching experience that in addition to ironing out difficulties and providing excellent exam preparation as matter of course, at no extra effort on the part of the student introduces them to the thought processes and insights of the professional mathematician. I have the STRONGEST sense of duty of care to my students and want every one who I work with to exceed their own expectations and the expectations of others and to walk away feeling truly proud of their achievements.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed my Ph.D, which was about the philosophy of folly in Shakespeare's plays.

Whereas English Literature, Language and Philosophy are my primary disciplines, I have also taught German and History up to A-Level standard. I graduated with a First Class degree in English Literature and received a high distinction for my Master's degree, which were both from London University. I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, which means that I am qualified to teach at university-level.

My ultimate objective is to teach and research at university level. I am a keen individual, who values the arts and humanities. I believe education is not simply a means to an end; rather, it offers exciting and new ways of thinking about ourselves and the world around us.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience is fairly extensive and I have taught both in this country and abroad.

For the last two years, I have lectured and led seminars at Royal Holloway, University of London; I have also continued to teach A-Level and GCSE students English, Philosophy and History as I have done since 2009.

In 2010, I designed and taught a course for American university students, which was called "British Culture". This course was, in essence, an history of ideas in this country from the Roman invasion to the present.

My work has been published in major academic journals and my thesis is currently under consideration by publishers. At the other end of the spectrum, as an undergraduate, I worked as a teaching assistant in primary and secondary schools.

Tutoring Approach:

I realise that at Key Stages 1,2, and 3 the emphasis needs to be on passing exams. At this level, I aim to provide an entertaining and relaxed session, which remains focused on providing and reinforcing the information required to pass an exam.

I hesitate, however, to say that my style is informal. I believe that when instructing younger children a certain amount of structure is required. This does not mean that the session needs be short-sighted; rather that we focus on a structured approach to attaining goals in an interesting and fulfilling way. At the higher levels and for mature students my approach is more relaxed.

Personal Description:
As a faculty head of English and modern languages I have a broad knowledge of texts, and am well qualified to meet the curricular needs of any pupil. I have marked Standard Grade folio and Higher Critical essay for the SQA for many years, and Higher Folio for the last 8 years, so am well versed in expected pupil standards.
I would also like to say, at this point, that the reason I prefer pupils to come to my home is because I do not drive and I have lots of materials at home.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English at all levels, from 1st-6th years, for 24 years.
I have also been tutoring for 12/13 years and in this years (2016) exams I saw all my tutees pass Higher despite some of them only coming to me after having failed their Prelim. All were ecstatic with their result and phoned to inform,and thank,me. This years results have been astounding as of my 8 tutees, 7 got A passes and one got a B. All came for the majority of the year and none were certainties for an A. Indeed 3 were struggling but worked extremely hard and got well deserved A's.

As well as new pupils for Higher last session I also had several returning pupils,or siblings, from last year as my services as a tutor have been retained to now take them through the transition from N5 to Higher. This has been a trend for me as tutees have always been happy with the lessons and my efforts in making them feel comfortable.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a well experienced tutor on a 1 to 1 and group basis. I have tutored at all Secondary levels and will support, and supplement, the teaching materials already provided by the pupils' schools. I will look over, and grade, work done by pupils in school and that set by me. In general, I will identify a pupils weakest areas and we will work hard on improving on that whilst "fine tuning" other areas.
From the Academic year 2014/15 National 5 and N6 Higher students were catered for and I, myself, teach it to my 4th and 5th year students. This will be a very challenging year for S4 as a lot has to be done in a shorter time as year 4, generally have 1 or 2 less teaching periods than year 5/6 yet they have the same work to cover. In addition they have more exams and work experience to cope with. An early start at this would be advised in order to get into folio as soon as possible.

Andreas Papapetrou was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1984. He began his music studies at an early age at the ARTE Music Academy (formerly Hellenic College of Music) from where he graduated in 2001 with a Degree in Piano with distinction. He continued his studies in Greece, at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, from where he got his Diploma in Piano with distinction in 2008, and at the Department of Music Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, from where he graduated with a Degree in Composition with distinction in 2009. After this he moved to London where he studied composition at Trinity College of Music, acquiring his MMus in Composition with distinction in 2011. He is now a PhD candidate at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

He has studied composition with Michalis Lapidakis, Panayiotis Kokoras, Errolyn Wallen and Stephen Montague, piano with Elena Sophocleous, Emilia Tzima and Douglas Finch, accordion with Irinoula Constantinidou, and jazz song with with Yula Michail.

He has composed music for various ensembles, as well as works of electroacoustic and electronic music. His music has been performed in Cyprus, Greece, the United Kingdom and France. Works of his have been performed by the Trinity College of Music Student's Symphony Orchestra, the DissonArt Ensemble (Thessaloniki), the Contemporary Music Ensemble (Athens), the COMA Voices London choir, the TCM Harp Trio, the Solstice String Quartet, violinist Darragh Morgan a.o.

Teaching Experience:

I work as a freelance composer, performer and music teacher. As a music teacher I teach piano, accordion, music theory and
music composition, both for beginners and advanced students. I have been teaching music for the last 5 years. I have taught
people of all ages, from children to adults. I am currently a PhD candidate specialising in composition at Trinity College of Music.

Hello! I am Rossella, I am Italian and I moved to London 8 years ago. Italian is my mother-tongue but am perfectly fluent in English. I have a Diploma in languages (Liceo Linguistico, Mantova, Italy) and a degree in Economics and Tourism (University of Bologna, Italy). Now I am a full-time mum of two boys who are growing up speaking both Italian and English.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a tutor since moving to London, mainly one to one and also small groups (max 3 people).
I have been registered with UKtutors for almost 2 years now. Through UKtutors I have been teaching Italian to adults only, most of them beginners. I am very proud of what my students have achieved and are still achieving. Most of them only knew few words and are now able to hold a proper conversation in Italian.

Tutoring Approach:

Since each student has their individual way of learning, I think it's important to discuss it at the very beginning in order to make sure that the tutoring is efficient and enjoyable. For example, there are some students that learn better by listening and repeating and others that need to write and read to learn the language; therefore each lesson is organised around the student's needs and learning skills. Both grammar and conversation are essential to learn and improve the language.
I also offer lessons purely based on travel, focusing on all aspects that tourists traveling to Italy are interested in, such as booking hotels and restaurants, asking for directions, being able to use public transports.

Personal Description:
I am a recent graduate (2012) of the University of Bristol where I studied Biology and obtained a high 2.1. In addition to my degree, I have studied a wide range of subjects during my time in education, within the humanities and the sciences. The inspirational teaching that I have received is one the mains reasons for my achievement of high grades, as well as enthusiasm for my subjects. I believe I can share this enthusiasm and my knowledge and offer your child the help they require.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst at school I was part of a reading scheme where a group of 10 students visited a nearby primary school. We read to individuals on a 1 on 1 basis and helped them to develop their own reading skills. I have been recently accepted onto the TeachFirst scheme, a two-year teaching placement, which will commence in 2013. To gain the experience I will need for this and the present tutoring I am doing, I have spent a lot of time in my old secondary school shadowing teachers and siting in on classes. I have also been coaching hockey at my local club since I was 16, which has allowed me to develop my communication skills.

Tutoring Approach:

In my opinion, a great tutor is not only one that can engage and animate their pupils, but can also adapt their teaching style to meet the needs of the individual. I hope that not only will I give your child the support they require, but he/she will also enjoy the teaching process.

My name is Chris. With a good academic background, and now with excellent feedback, my approach is to not only impart knowledge, but also attempt to generate a passion for a subject that will remain long after any examination success. Educated at King's Collage School, Wimbledon and a subsequent degree course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at King's College, London, I joined the BBC as a television recording engineer in 1976. I became a successful editor with the BBC and continue to enjoy the same role now on a freelance basis.
I am a good communicator, and seem to have the knack of explaining sometimes difficult concepts with clear and concise explanations. I have kept in touch with my core subjects (maths, physics and science) throughout my life and retain a keen interest in all of them. I'm not just a book-based dry academic but someone who knows how to fire enthusiasm for learning that will last long after any examination paper. My work has never been Mon-Fri 9-5, so I am available during the working day both in term time and school holidays.

Teaching Experience:

I have now been tutoring Maths for over two years which has generated good feedback and positive results from parents and students alike.
I think that is all that counts.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to impart my enthusiasm for the subject to my students. This is so much easier on a one to one basis compared with the classroom. A tutor will often cause the 'penny to drop', not by simply repeating a classroom lesson, but by offering a different explanation of a problem. Working in close contact with the syllabus, I quickly identify areas of weakness in the understanding of a subject, and repair that damage as quickly as possible. This is essential, especially in maths, as new concepts can rely so heavily on previous knowledge, which, if absent, will make comprehension of new material even more difficult. This is presumably why you are looking for a tutor in the first place. Homework, mock exam questions are essential, not only as feedback for me to know how successful any lesson has been, but also for you as a parent to see if any improvement has been achieved. I am an enthusiastic, professional, patient and successful private tutor. I have a BA in History (1st Class) and a Masters in Medieval Studies (Distinction); a course jointly run by the History and English departments at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Aside from Higher Education I have 10 GCSE's A-C (including English Language (A), English Literature (A), History (B), Latin, Science and Maths). I obtained 4 A Levels in English Language, History, Psychology and General Studies as well as an AS Level in Law.

Tutoring Approach:

I practice what I preach - and I believe that this comes across in my tutoring. I absolutely love learning and studying. I am an enthusiastic person who genuinely wants to help people achieve their potential in their desired field and take great pride in the successes my clients have achieved after sessions with me.

Sessions are relaxed and informal; I create a friendly environment where people want to learn and feel comfortable doing so. I try to be as flexible as possible; I am happy to ramp up the sessions in the run up to exams, but also to scale back during quieter periods and also change days/times on an ad hoc basis. I encourage my tutees to contact me outside of sessions if they ever need any help - you don't have to wait a whole week to speak to me again!

There is, however, a formal element to learning and I do expect commitment and homework will be set on a regular basis (as long as there is capacity alongside school/college/university commitments).

It's not a case of 'one size fits all' and I enjoy working with my clients to help them to understand their best style of learning and to adapt my teaching style as required. Sessions with me can often mean going through past papers and helping with homework to fun quizzes and games!

On the whole, my aim would be not only to teach, but to inspire my tutees and instill a sense of confidence in their own abilities.

Nursery school teacher at Romanos English Nursery School in Nicosia, Cyprus. Amongst others, my responsibilities included:

Educational support for children in Preschool and Primary Education
Preparation and organization of weekly programming based on the different needs and abilities of the children of the preschool class. This programme was then sent to the parents to keep them informed on the weekly activities.
Application of multiple specific activities based on the nursery's timetable in the context of the programme issued by the Ministry of Education (e.g. silent activities as well as multiple subject activities such as language education, mathematics and natural sciences). Through these activities the learning and development of children is documented in different ways such as evaluation forms, contact book and progress meetings with the parents.
When needed, extra activities were carried out in smaller groups of children (micro-level).
Leading role in enhancing children's Greek language knowledge. Amongst others, created additional learning material to aid towards the Greek alphabet learning
Leading role in the creation of the School's Yearbook which included photos from all activities, school trips and experiences the children had.
Finally, over the last three years actively contributed to the structure and organization of the School's graduation ceremony by helping in poems writing and dance teaching.
