I am an Open University graduate with a 2.1 Honours degree in Computing, Science, and Mathematics. I have taught Computer Aided Design and Engineering Mathematics at my local college. Hello! My name is Gemma and I am a 32 year old doctor, chartered accountant, strategy consultant and successful start up founder. I graduated in medicine from Nottingham University in 2016, switched to finance, became a qualified chartered accountant, and now work for one of the 'Big4' in health advisory and strategic consulting. However, my heart will always lie with the sciences, and somehow in amongst all of my wide ranging career, my favourite job has always been teaching.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified and experienced teacher and tutor of Biology and Chemistry with over 30 years teaching experience.
I have a B.Sc. in Developmental Biology and Biochemistry from Aberdeen University and a PhD.D. in medical science from Glasgow University.
I very much enjoy helping students understand and enjoy learning the concepts in Biology and chemistry needed to succeed in passing GCSE and A-level courses.( also Higher and Nat 5 courses in Scotland).

Teaching Experience:
I taught for 18 years as Assistant Curriculum Leader in Science at Clydebank College in Glasgow. I also taught a second year and third year university course in Biology with the Open University from 1998 to.2003. Following retirement from full-time teaching, I worked part-time as a Lab Leader with the first year B.Sc.Biology students for 5 years.

Tutoring Approach:
I can make use of a variety of resources, including written course materials, videos and animations available online and use of a whiteboard to explain calculation methods, to help students understand and learn course work. I feel it is important to adapt my teaching approach to meet the needs of each individual student.
