Hello, I am a well qualified, BA, MPhil, PGCE teacher who is looking to branch out into more private tutoring work. I have privately tutored for many years and have experience since 1996. I have taught at all key stages and enjoy my work thoroughly. Last year (2012) my three history tutees all went to their first choice University, UEA, Liverpool and Leicester.
Please note that my rates are based on one to one tuition. Should you wish me to tutor groups of two or more either at home or in school I am happy to do so but rates will need to be discussed prior to my commencing work.
I now have experience of working on the E Bacc and depth studies.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught to A level in History for adult ed from 1998-2006
I have taught Geography to GCSE-level and A level
History in school at KS 3 and 4

Personal Description:
I am 53 years of age, married with 3 children.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Secondary Science School teacher and have 9 years experience as a private tutor

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that one to one tuition can greatly increase both a students confidence and knowledge in a subject. I try to create an informal and relaxing atmosphere by getting to know the student. I have an extensive knowledge of all the syllabuses. I use very effective methods to enable the student to grasp any difficult concepts and eventually concentrate on exam questions and technique. I help the student to take responsibility for their own learning and understand the best methods for learning (such as use of mind maps). The great majority of my students have achieved exam results which have far exceeded their expectations.

Tutoring Approach:

I use to teach one-to-one lessons in which I apply the so called humanistic-afective method, based on teaching a lenguage not through theory and memorising, but making the student got involved in the lessons, listening the country, seeing the country... By motivating the student, his/her will to learn the lenguage will improve if making the lessons interesting. At the same time, the student will learn the base of the level in which he is studying. Personal Description:
I am a first class graduate from the University of Leicester with outstanding academic performance, including many academic awards for the best performance in the exams. This includes prizes for the best academic performance in the Contract Law exam, the International Law exam and the best overall academic performance for the second year exams. I was also awarded high first class marks in the Criminal Law, Intellectual Property Law, Equity & Trusts, EU Law, Land Law, and International Law exams.

Due to my outstanding academic performance, I have been admitted to the Bachelor of Civil Law (master's degree) at Oxford University for the next academic year (2015-2016).

I also have a year work experience in a local firm of solicitors as a Legal Secretary and therefore I can link the theory to practice for better understanding.

I would like to make use of my current knowledge of law and help a student who is going to re-sit exams in September with his/ her preparation. I am willing to offer a wide range of academic literature and academic notes from lectures and other sources.

Teaching Experience:

I have a year experience in mentoring at the University. The project of mentoring has been introduced to improve the students' performance in exams.

Furthermore, I have been actively tutoring in various modules, in particular in Intellectual Property Law, Conflict of Laws, Criminal Law, and Equity & Trusts.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very flexible with students as every individual has different study needs. I want to find out which type of memory the student uses the most, i.e. whether he remembers better by hearing, reading, or talking about it. I would be willing to arrange the sessions at my place as I believe that a change of environment is also important for better concentration of the student. Law seems often difficult to understand and I would divide each session into three slots to ensure that each topic is looked into from different angles and understood well.

Personal Description:
My name is Cathy, I am a part-time student with the Open University (however I did my first year at Cardiff University) studying towards a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics. I've always enjoyed maths but know many students find it a daunting subject, so want to help as many people as I can find it less scary and find some fun in it!

When I'm not studying, I am a huge animal lover; I really enjoy horse riding and have a Labrador who I show and take training whenever I get the chance!

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring since April 2013, and also worked as a GCSE tutor at one of the local colleges.

During my A-levels, I helped tutor some year 9 students in Maths for Brookvale High School for about 8 weeks. I helped them prepare for their SATs exam and the transition to GCSE level.
Also I worked as a manager in retail for 3 years so have experience of training and teaching my team of staff their tasks.

Tutoring Approach:

'You hear and you forget, you see and you remember, you do and you understand'
As the quote above says, students learn best when they do it themselves; I believe a good tutor helps guide a student patiently, giving them all the support they need without rushing them. I want to help students enjoy the subject rather than just doing it because they have to. Maths is such an important part of life, even though most people don't even notice how much they use it!

Personal Description:
I am a 21-year-old BA English student entering my final year at the University of Leicester. My degree course focuses on a balanced variety of both English Literature and Language, and also covers the entire spectrum of English literature from Beowulf to Zadie Smith. Upon completion of my BA I intend to complete an MA degree in Creative Writing, with aspirations to joining the media/journalism industries.

I am a reliable, conscientious young woman. I have previously worked in retail and in an office environment as a data entry processor; in both of these positions I have developed a strong understanding of what it means to provide an excellent service to customers. I wish to tutor in English because I am keen to share my passion for the subject with younger students, and to support myself financially throughout my final undergraduate year.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my second year at Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge, I tutored a lower-sixth student in English twice a week. This involved hour-long study sessions conducted in the college library, focusing on my tutee's desire to develop her analytical skills and exam preparation.

During my first year at the University of Leicester I engaged in a 6-week volunteer scheme named Creative Writing in Primary Schools. With three of my peers, I researched, planned and gave 90-minute sessions to a class of Year 4 pupils at a local primary school once a week. Our role was to develop their knowledge of Creative Writing and to engage them in learning activities that would see them produce their own short stories. Characters and plot were explored, as well as traditional grammar and style activities.
(NB: Because of this activity, I have a DBS/CBR check)

Tutoring Approach:

I am very enthusiastic about the discipline of English Literature and Language, and would enjoy the opportunity to develop the vast array of analytical, reading, writing, communication and creative skills the study of English can offer to students.

I am flexible in my approach and am happy to work with tutees on any aspects of English that may be causing them difficulties, whether that be spelling or basic reading skills, to textual analysis and exam preparation. I would also encourage creativity and originality where appropriate, and guide tutees in both their academic and extracurricular reading.

Finally, I believe in a polite and respectful approach to tutoring. I understand that all children and young people have varying needs and learning styles, and I am happy to accommodate and support them throughout the tutoring process.

Prior to this I worked as a Clinical Educator for 2 1/2 years, teaching Leeds Medical School students mainly in Years 3- 5 of their training. I teach clinical skills (practical, examination and history taking) and a number of clinical medicine topics, from chronic diseases such as respiratory conditions, and diabetes, and acute medicine/approach to the unwell patient.

I trained as a doctor and have a varied background in a number of clinical specialities including Emergency Medicine, General Medicine and General Practice. I now teach full time and always strive to provide teaching sessions that stimulate, challenge and enthuse students.

I'm available to teach medical students at any stage of their training, either those who perhaps would like a little extra support in their studies or those students who may be re-siting components of their course and require some more focused tuition.

I am also confident to teach pupils from GCSE level up to A level in Biology, particularly topics relating to Human Biology.
In addition I would be keen to teach any adult learners who are undertaking college courses relating to Human Biology, physiology or anatomy. Please feel free to contact me if you are studying an Allied Health Sciences course/other course relating to medical subjects/biology, as I may be able to help!

I currently work at Leicester Medical School as a clinical teaching fellow, and prior to this was working full time as a Clinical Educator. I have also worked in medical communications, developing educational materials for a variety of health care professionals on a number of disease types and treatments.

I have a extensive teaching experience, at a number of Medical Schools, first as an Honorary Clinical Demonstrator at Leicester Medical School for a year during my early clinical training, followed by a position as an Academic Clinical Fellow in Medical Education and General Practice at Manchester Medical School. These positions both involved formal teaching responsibilities with medical students, both in their clinical and pre clinical stages of training. In my last role as a Clinical Educator I taught predominantly in areas relating to clinical medicine but I currently teach across the basic medical sciences including anatomy and physiology.

I have completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Tutoring Approach:

Encouraging, enthusiastic and non- intimidating
Delivered at a pace set by the student in whichever format best drives the student's learning
Can include Skype sessions/over the internet
Problem based/scenario based sessions can be delivered if requested, to help integrate medical knowledge with clinical scenarios
Can tutor groups and/or individuals: from GCSE level up to Higher Education/University- and anywhere inbetween!

Please note: an additional fee will be added to cover travel costs if travelling to the tutee: this is to cover fuel costs and time incurred travelling to and from a tutees address.

Personal Description:
I am a Cambridge graduate and a full-time, professional tutor with a friendly approach to tutoring, placing emphasis on confidence-building as well as knowledge attainment.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring at varying levels, from 11+ to University, for nearly three years, and am now a full-time tutor working for agencies, institutions, local authorities and private clients. Most of this work has been preparation for a particular exam, although I have also had students who are studying just for the enjoyment of it. I feel well-suited to being 'on the other end' of the one-to-one style of teaching that I benefited from at university.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is friendly and informal. I prefer to let the tutee dictate the pace of a session by encouraging them to interrupt or ask me to repeat when we hit upon work they are not fully understanding.

I have found that the most efficient use of a tutoring session is for me to first outline the theory of what we are going to study in that session to the student, and then use the remainder of the time to work through questions with the student as they become progressively more comfortable with the content until, ultimately, they feel able to answer the questions alone.

The content of the sessions is always tailored to the particular qualification the student is working towards, and the student has complete autonomy over what we study together.

Personal Description:
I am a BSc Geography graduate currently studying for an MA in Education Practice at De Montfort University. I am due to start my PGCE Teacher Training in September at the University of Leicester. Currently, I work full time as a Teaching Assistant at a special educational needs school in Leicester. In the past I have worked as a personal mentor for young adults. I have a genuine passion for the acquisition of new knowledge and the delivery of my understanding to others.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently a full time Teaching Assistant at a special educational needs school in Leicester. This role affords me the opportunity to teach a mixture of subjects to both groups of children and individuals in one to one sessions. Prior to this, I worked as a Sports Development Officer for Team Ltd, instructing large groups of children in a range of physical education activities. In addition, I have also been employed as a personal mentor and tutor to young adults.
