Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Shaun. I am 22 year old PhD student at De Montfort University and I have a passion for teaching. Having completed exams and gone through the English academic pathway, I know how tough it can be to get your head around exams. Although I am young, I have good experience teaching adults and children, as you will see below. I am a balanced, understanding individual, and I have had tutoring myself in the past, so I feel that I know what it takes to build a successful student-teacher relationship. I am very outgoing, and I am sure that I will be able to assist people to get the best out of their courses.

Teaching Experience:

Part-time Lecturer De Montfort University
Teaching A-Level (a few sessions) St John Fisher Catholic College

Tutoring Approach:

Relaxed. I use a lot of IT and try to make classes as fun as possible. When I tutor I normally find that sessions never drag, and I hope this remains the case.

Please note that I am more than happy to arrange a personal meeting or phone call free of charge before I give a class. I believe that it is crucial that the student selects a tutor they are comfortable with, and I am more than happy to try ad ensure that this is the case.

Personal Description:
I am a student currently studying Biological Sciences BSc at the University of Leicester, and have already achieved a first in my first year. The nature of my degree has given me a great deal of self-motivation, time-management and organisation skills. I was a debating captain at school, and so have brilliant communication skills. I was also a Citizenship and Environment Prefect, and so had to raise local and international issues to students through a variety of teaching events.

I have good leadership skills developed through a range of experiences, and I can adapt well to different situations. I am a hard-worker with an eye for detail, and am enthusiastic and dedicated to teaching well. Adaptability is a core strength for me, as I realise that students require imaginative and original ways to learn and absorb information, so they can process and apply what they learn.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored a student in A-level Biology, boosting her grade from an A to A* by working heavily on her ability to apply knowledge and by going through biological processes with her.

I have tutored a GCSE Chemistry student, making her more confident in her work by reviewing what she had learnt in school, re-teaching her what she was weak on and then testing her regularly. This boosted her grade from a B to an A.

I have also tutored a year 9 maths student in algebra and shapes/area and by using practical methods to highlight the uses of maths and help put the curriculum in context of real-life, helping her apply the principles. This boosted her D grade to a strong C.

Tutoring Approach:

On the first meeting, I hope to find out what the tutee is weak on or would like to work on. From this, I hope to test their basic knowledge of the subject material to find the depth of understanding that the tutee has. This will help both the tutee and I understand where we should focus and what topics we should target.

Throughout the course of the lessons, I will use a range of methods (oral, visual and physical) to help the tutee learn and the knowledge will be reiterated through help sheets and homework. Once a subject or module is covered, mini-tests will be done to test progress and then eventually a full exam. My main aim is to build confidence and make the student feel comfortable in what they are learning, if I achieve this much then their progress is inevitable.

Personal Description:
¡Buenas! Me llamo Patricia y... ¡soy la profesora que estás buscando! Understood that? No? Then you really need my classes! :)

I am a bilingual Spanish and English teacher from Madrid, Spain, confident in my ability and passion to teach.

I am a sociable, dynamic, cheerful, self-confident and highly motivated with a responsible commitment to everything I carry out, especially when duties as an educator are concerned. I am a hard-working professional, enthusiastic about teaching but learning at the same time. I believe I am skilled in the design of challenging and innovative activities that address the diverse interests and needs of students. My goal is to motivate them by ascertaining their inner strengths, abilities and the activities that truly inspire them.

Teaching Experience:

With over 7 years' teaching experience, I have been successfully teaching English and Spanish at all levels (from 1 year old babies to adults), exams preparations, business classes, etc. My experience has provided me with an excellent background in the field of teaching, which is my passion, and has enabled me with the skills and methodology required to be a great teacher in every sense.
Regarding private tuition, I started working as a private teacher in Madrid where I gained the skills and experience to create my own methodology. I had the privilege of being Head of the English Department at SLG Institute of Education and International Euro-American University for more than 5 years, in charge of all the English-related subjects, teaching the language to adults at all levels required (on-site and on-line classes).

After being in several schools devoted to pre-school and primary education, I decided to create something of my own by request of my private students who were increasing very fast. Thus, I created my own company of private teachers, that way I could reach more students as the feedback I had already received was extraordinary. It was an amazing experience in which I was responsible for a team of 40 teachers working according to my method and materials (hired after a recruitment and training process led by myself).

Last year I had the pleasure of becoming part of the academic team in Kids & Us, a very special international school meant for children from 1 to 13 years old. Its methodology is rooted firmly in natural language acquisition. Thanks to this great year being immersed in a "kids world", I could learn a lot from them, such as techniques used in order to encourage student learning within this method, ways to establish good rapport and always making certain the kids receive sufficient praise and positive reinforcement which fosters confidence for them to reach their full potential.
Both this job and interest for the language acquisition in the early stages led me to my previous job in Leicester as a preschool teacher for the Bush Babies Preschool Holly Bush.

When I moved to Birmingham in February I managed to secure a permanent position as a Spanish teacher in St Francis Catholic School, where I currently teach the subject to years 2-6.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a sociable, dynamic, cheerful, self-confident and highly motivated with a responsible commitment to everything I carry out, especially when duties as an educator are concerned. I am a hard-working professional, enthusiastic about teaching but learning at the same time. I believe I am skilled in the design of challenging and innovative activities that address the diverse interests and needs of students. My goal is to motivate them by ascertaining their inner strengths, abilities and the activities that truly inspire them.
Through teaching, I get to live my passion, I love working with kids, teenagers or adults, regardless of the kind of student, there is no better feeling than to stimulate a person's social, emotional, physical and academic growth. I love the result of my job. Every day I am determined to help people realise how easy and fulfilling learning can be.

So, it doesn't matter whether you are 10 or 50, if you are looking for business Spanish classes, passing an exam, or just learning in order to go to our wonderful beaches and be able to order a paella at a restaurant! Whatever your needs are I will make sure our classes suit them perfectly!
