Tutoring Approach:

The communicative approach centered in developing students' skills and abilities is my preferred tutoring approach, but it depends on the students needs. In the first lesson there is an assessment of competence and a learning style evaluation so I can easily tailor the Spanish course according to the needs of the student.
In all cases, Spanish classes include grammar, written exercises, talking and listening, and the writing practices are carried out through the homework (optional)
Also important the mutual evaluation at the end of each class so that both student and myself can correct/improve something that is not going well in order to fulfill mutual expectations, and have an interesting, funny and efficient Spanish lesson every class.

I am an experienced and fully qualified secondary school teacher in Science with a specialism in Physics. I have vast experience of tutoring from year 7 up to A-level and unlike other tutors I am also a qualified teacher who is currently teaching in the classroom. This allows me to be up-to-date with curriculum changes, coursework requirements and thorough knowledge of areas which students struggle with in all aspects of Science. I am also a six form school tutor which means that I understand the requirements for entry into six form and the UCAS process.

I am originally from Wales and have been living in North London for 14 years. I consider myself to be friendly and conscientious. Education is an important tool and I enjoy working with children and seeing them be the best that they can be.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently a secondary school Physics teacher with 6+ years experience. I am also responsible for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at my school. Both of my parents were teachers and tutors (Head of Department in Science and SENCO) whilst I was growing up. Therefore teaching and education have always been an important part of my life.

Each child is different, so I like to design a plan after first finding out where the problems arise. Every child is different and I find that you cannot treat every child in the same way. I am currently a secondary school Chemistry teacher at an independent all girls' school. I teach ages 11-18. I completed an Msci Chemistry course at Imperial College London gaining a first class honors degree. I have also done a year of teacher training and gained a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) working in two schools along the way. My hobbies and interest includes shotokan karate which I have done for the past nine years and also football. I have been a tutor for 4 years. In this time i have tutored numerous students from the age of 8 up to 18. I have taught maths in particular to years 5-11 recently. In all cases I have improved their exam performances and been thanked by the parents.

I have worked in a primary school as a volunteer running a morning maths class every Tuesday during my A-levels. This helped me learn a lot on how to convey my message to children so they understand how to solve the problem using their own intuition.

Furthermore I have worked with children in the Bloomsbury Kumon centre for the past few years which has been beneficial in many ways. I have learnt how children can progress over time and what is required to help them. At school I have tutored younger children in maths and helped them with their GCSE and A-levels as a mentor.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in going through problems with the children first and showing a clear example, then allowing them to practice until they understand and can do the problems on their own. Furthermore I sometimes guide them in the right direction without actually telling the answer so the child is able to figure it out for themselves. I would follow the syllabus provided and teach every topic in suitable order. Then I had work through past papers and leave them papers and homework on each topic to practice. I would try to create a spark and make the pupils interested in the subject so that they can pursue their further studies with more enthusiasm.

As a result, she achieved a 2:1 Grade. It is pertinent to note that the young student did not have any prior knowledge in Accounting. She took A Level Drama, but changed to do Accounting at the university, which makes her achievement much more remarkable.

In my current role as an Accounts Lecturer, I have adopted a methodical approach to my teaching. The preparation and use of scheme of work, session planning, syllabuses, timetable, lesson notes and handouts helps me in presenting my lessons in an organised and logical manner, and ensuring that the syllabuses are substantially covered. I am confident and positive in my teaching and able to build confidence in the students themselves, which helps in achieving the learning objectives set for each lesson and thereby achieving the overall objectives of the course. I adopt a mixture of pedagogical and andragogical approach to my teaching. Personal Description:
Nice to meet you! I'm Rebecca; I'm 27 years old and graduated from Bangor University with a BSc in Psychology with Clinical and Health Psychology. After university I spent a year as a specialist support worker for adults with autism and autistic traits. With my psychology degree and experience I am more than happy to cater for students that might need a bit of extra help, and have experience teaching students with Aspergers, Personality Disorder, and depression.

Following uni, I spent nearly 2 years teaching English as a foreign language in Japan. Whilst in Japan, I also learnt how to speak conversational Japanese, and can also read and write hiragana, katakana, and first-grade level kanji. I now tutor English and Japanese full time, and have registered my own language services company.

To better understand what is needed for GCSE Japanese, I took my GCSE in 2016 achieving an A*, and plan to take N4 in the Japanese Proficiency test next year. I am happy to help students work towards their GCSE or N5 level Japanese, and I am constantly training to improve my students learning experience.

I welcome any students with special needs; I have vast experience in the Psychological field and work well with anyone who needs that little bit of extra help and attention! I also work great with kids who need help boosting their English and Maths at school- in the last year one of my 5-year-old student's grades have gone from below average to excellent in their school report.

I'm currently teaching in the Northamptonshire area, and have a classroom set up in my home where I do most of my teaching from.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience includes the 2 years I spent teaching English as a foreign language in Japan, where I designed the yearly teaching schedules, lesson plans, and then taught the lessons. My students were from the age of 3 to 65, so I have experience in teaching all ages. Whilst in Japan I also taught beginner's Japanese to foreigners living in my local area.

Since returning to England in 2013 I've been tutoring English and Japanese full time. I took my GCSE Japanese in 2016 achieving an A*, and plan to take N4 of the Japanese proficiency test next year. I have also been teaching one of my younger students English, Math, and other related subjects required for primary school. I currently have more than 20 students learning Japanese 1-to-1 and relish the challenges and individuality between each new student.

At university I volunteered for several groups including an activity group for disadvantaged children, assisting in secondary school classrooms, volunteering at the local mental health unit and volunteering as a charity shop assistant.

Prior to this, I often tutored my younger sister (who has Asperger's Syndrome) and helped her to understand her school work. I have also clocked up countless hours of babysitting for parents around the local area.

Tutoring Approach:

For teaching English as a foreign language, or when teaching Japanese, I believe a fun, active approach is the most effective. A short amount of time is spent drilling sentences and words; but then these new words and phrases should be used in role plays, games, or challenges to make the new vocabulary stick.

When teaching English, debates about the subject material cause important points to be remembered, help students to structure their arguments more clearly, and let students consider what the most important points are and consider counter arguments. Games for younger children and a variety of different activities to help enforce new vocabulary and sentences are also important.

Personal Description:
I have been a secondary school teacher for almost ten years, having experience of teaching from Year 7 all the way through A-Level. I am fully CRB checked (teachers require an enhanced CRB) and this can be provided upon request.

My results consistently outstrip national achievements both in Business Studies and ICT. I have been observed and graded at "Outstanding" by Ofsted on multiple occasions.

I have high standards and expect the same of my students, while maintaining a fun and relaxed approach to learning.

As a married father of a two year old boy who is already getting into IT(!) I know the importance of people having the necessary skills to succeed in the real world. More and more businesses now require "sound computer skills" before they'll even consider you for many posts.

I feel privileged to work in my current profession and am looking to extend that to others. I am a season ticket holder at Colchester United and, when I'm not teaching or being bored to death by the U's, I enjoy gardening, reading, travel and films.

I have high expectations of my students and expect them to work to the best of their ability once they have the skills to succeed. I believe in independent learning and discovery but appreciate that my role as a facilitator and teacher is important to foster and develop theses skills in learners.

My students are used to developing their confidence through supervised tasks in such a way that they can tackle more complex problems later themselves. I will not do work for my students but I will work for my students so they can do it for themselves.

I am aspiring to attend graduate school for mathematics or a mathematically related field.

Having excelled at mathematics in school, achieving several perfect scores in my A-Levels and achieving a Top Gold Award in the British Physics Olympiad, I am confident in my knowledge up to A-Level mathematics and physics and am well equipped to help struggling students.

For students looking to apply to Oxbridge/Imperial/UCL/Warwick (etc.), I am happy to help with STEP/PAT preparation.

Teaching Experience:

I was a mentor for several students during my A-Levels and would also take part in PAT revision classes for Oxford Physics applicants. This involved explaining solutions so that others may learn from them (and also having solutions explained to me).

One of my mentees obtained an A grade in their physics A-level, improving from a C grade, allowing them to pursue a degree in medicine.

Tutoring Approach:

My focus starts with making sure the student has a strong understanding of the underlying theory and how it was discovered/derived. Then we may move onto a variety of problems to solve, gradually moving upwards in complexity and making sure to sample all problem types to ensure we have covered all potential exam questions.

Once the student has covered a topic, we will revisit it and summarise it 2-3 times in the coming months to ensure long term understanding and memorisation. This is in addition to having moved on to the next topic.

I am a kind, patient person who does his best to help others succeed. I am 18 and in my first year which puts me relatively close in age to GSCE students which allows me to connect with them more and therefore teach better.

I have done work experience in a Primary School which taught me a lot about the practicalities of teaching. It was here I learned I had a knack for encouraging others to work and supporting them with their studies. I have been asked throughout my education to help my peers, which has given me the skills to support others with work they do not understand or need support with.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning should be made as fun and applicable as possible - which is where school fails. The best way to engage someone is to put what you are trying to teach them into "their language". Maths for its own sake is easy to take as dull and pointless, but showing someone that you can use it in a way that they find interesting and relevant makes them more likely to engage. This is true for any subject, and is difficult to do with a class of 30 but much easier to do one to one.
