I am currently a 2nd year undergraduate studying at University College London in Central London in joint honours French and Russian. I have tutored successfully for the last three years. I have got a wide range of GCSEs and 5 Alevels.

Before university I studied at Skipton Girls' and so had to sit the entrance exams. I am approachable and try to make whichever subject I tutor fun and enjoyable as I found my studies! I really enjoy working and also learning with my tutees as everyone has their own ideas to express.

Teaching Experience:
I tutored during sixth form years to year 10s and year 11s. My major successes were to enable students working at a grade D level to finally achieve As in their final literature exams.

When I came to university I again entered into tutoring. I have worked with primary school children teaching maths and english at KS2 level and also basic reading and writing strategies. Further to this I worked in Holland Park School in Notting Hill with a group of Year 11s tutoring English Literature at GCSE level.

I find tutoring exciting and extremely rewarding when I see points have finally been grasped and the student can now communicate what they had locked up in their minds.

As I did very essay based subjects and still continue on this track I can help with basic ideas of essay structuring and approach to exams.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe learning is a very individual thing and I listen to what the student finds the hardest and supply ideas of how to tackle these problems.

I prefer a laid back style to tutoring as I feel learning should be enjoyable. However I always get the work and my plans for the session done.

I like to have some fun and create a healthy relationship with the people I tutor. When the student does not want me there or I do not want to go to work the learning process is heavil impeded and progress cannot be made.

Our aims and goals are the same it is just finding the right path there!

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that learning should be fun and in a relaxed atmosphere but at the same time academic and useful. My approach to teaching is to have the tutor and student both feel that they are getting a lot out of the experience and that the time is being well used. I will break down subjects into easily manageable blocks and make sure that my student understands the unit before moving on. I also like to vary my tutorials by having some in the form of lectures, some in the form of question and answers, some where I will give students feedback on homework they have done and suggestions to improve what they have done, etc.

I also find that on-line tuition is the best method and students can ask questions that they may not ask if they were face-to-face with someone, it is a much more relaxed approach but students get a lot out of it (and can save all the notes from lessons for use later on)

I believe its important to have an individualistic approach and tailor the teaching according to the needs of the child. It is important to identify the weak points and strong points of child and teach accordingly. I would want to make teaching an enjoyable , enriching and stimulating experience for th echild, and make th echild realise that ' Knowledge is Power'.
I would be more than happy to explain more than once/twice, until I am asssure dthat the student understands the concept. I believe it is very important to have good foundations, so making sure that the student understands the basic concepts is imperative.

I am a graduate of the University of Durham in Modern European Languages, having studied French, German and Spanish. I have lived, worked and studied in France, Germany and Latin America and currently work in a Spanish speaking environment in Leicester, where I teach Spanish, French and German to all levels in a private language institution. I provide a student-centered approach to teaching. With the student, I assess their linguistic strengths and weaknesses in light of their goals, be they GCSE, A-Level or University exams. We then focus on the curriculum and what they feel they need to learn. My approach is based on building that all important confidence prior to exams, helping students prepare, and providing structured, focused and effective revision strategies. I am also aware that learning should not just be exam centered - by learning a language students are learning a skill for life.
I work from a range of resources and use classes that I prepare myself. Classes provide whatever the student needs most, be it listening practice, conversation, grammar revision or just all round support.
I aim to support a student's learning in the school or university environment, providing 1 to 1 classes to optimise learning.
