| Personal Description: I am 19 years old. I am friendly, lively, outgoing but also listen carefully and I'm very hard working. I am currently a 2nd year undergraduate studying at University College London in Central London in joint honours French and Russian. I have tutored successfully for the last three years. I have got a wide range of GCSEs and 5 Alevels. Before university I studied at Skipton Girls' and so had to sit the entrance exams. I am approachable and try to make whichever subject I tutor fun and enjoyable as I found my studies! I really enjoy working and also learning with my tutees as everyone has their own ideas to express. |
Teaching Experience: I tutored during sixth form years to year 10s and year 11s. My major successes were to enable students working at a grade D level to finally achieve As in their final literature exams. When I came to university I again entered into tutoring. I have worked with primary school children teaching maths and english at KS2 level and also basic reading and writing strategies. Further to this I worked in Holland Park School in Notting Hill with a group of Year 11s tutoring English Literature at GCSE level. I find tutoring exciting and extremely rewarding when I see points have finally been grasped and the student can now communicate what they had locked up in their minds. As I did very essay based subjects and still continue on this track I can help with basic ideas of essay structuring and approach to exams. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe learning is a very individual thing and I listen to what the student finds the hardest and supply ideas of how to tackle these problems. I prefer a laid back style to tutoring as I feel learning should be enjoyable. However I always get the work and my plans for the session done. I like to have some fun and create a healthy relationship with the people I tutor. When the student does not want me there or I do not want to go to work the learning process is heavil impeded and progress cannot be made. Our aims and goals are the same it is just finding the right path there! |

| Personal Description: I am 33 years old and currently nearing the end of my studies for a PhD in French literature, at King's College in London. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught English for three years in France, including in the capacity of private tuition, mainly for English as a foreign language as well as at university. I taught professional adults in both group and individual sessions. At the University of Val de Marne (Paris 12) I taught English to first and second year undergraduates in the Sciences faculty. |
Tutoring Approach: I first ask students to outline what they consider their strengths and weaknesses to be and then to focus on building a consistent set of skills. I organise sessions by establishing a timetable and plan of study, which is not pressured and which allows for flexibility. I aim to provide a relaxed yet studious atmosphere. I try to teach in a way that is as much about building confidence as it is about achieving excellence. |

| Personal Description: I have a strong academic background including a first class degree in English gained in 2005 and am passionately committed to helping children achieve their learning potential. |
Teaching Experience: I am a Teaching Assistant at a primary school in Exeter and will be starting a teacher training programme in September. My current position includes supporting children's learning in all subjects but I particularly excel at helping children meet literacy targets. Because of this I am currently running a year 6 SATs booster group to ensure children achieve the marks they are capable of in the tests next month. |
Tutoring Approach: My experience thus far is with primary age children but, having studied English to degree level, I feel I could offer valuable support for children studying for GCSE exams. I have a positive and supportive attitude towards tutoring. I communicate the subject with passion, breaking down concepts in ways that the individual student can understand, and this environment helps children to thrive and achieve. |

| Personal Description: I am currently a doctoral researcher undertaking my PhD at The University of Glasgow, a personal tutor, a proof reader, a note taker and a support worker for various universities and agencies. I also hold a BA (Hons) undergraduate degree and an MLitt (Master of Letters) postgraduate degree. I am a qualified personal tutor in 15 subject areas and am rated a 10/10 tutor by Alpha Tutors. I also do some freelance writing and have contributed numerous articles to the website Helium, most of which are voted number one in their category, I have also had several articles published in society newsletters and publications, including The International Crosby Circle and The Sinatra Music Society. I have organised an international conference, a departmental postgraduate symposium and presented papers at both events. |
Teaching Experience: I work as a Top-Up Tutor for the University of Glasgow where I go to different schools and prepare S5 and S6 students for university; as a Proof Reader, Note Taker and Support Worker for disabled students at the University of the West of Scotland and am a freelance personal on-line and off-line tutor qualified in 15 subject areas including English Language, English Literature, Media Studies, Film Studies, and General Writing Skills. I work via Alpha Tutors, UK Tutors, Tutors4Kids and Fleet Tutors and teach from pre-exam age to Standard Grade, Higher, GCSE, A-Level, University level and Adult Learners. I have been tutoring since August 2007 and have chalked up around 400 tutoring hours in these subjects. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that learning should be fun and in a relaxed atmosphere but at the same time academic and useful. My approach to teaching is to have the tutor and student both feel that they are getting a lot out of the experience and that the time is being well used. I will break down subjects into easily manageable blocks and make sure that my student understands the unit before moving on. I also like to vary my tutorials by having some in the form of lectures, some in the form of question and answers, some where I will give students feedback on homework they have done and suggestions to improve what they have done, etc. I also find that on-line tuition is the best method and students can ask questions that they may not ask if they were face-to-face with someone, it is a much more relaxed approach but students get a lot out of it (and can save all the notes from lessons for use later on) |

Teaching Experience: I have successfully tutored primary children while in College. My mother is a qualified teacher and has been tutoring school children for many years(In India). |
Tutoring Approach: I believe its important to have an individualistic approach and tailor the teaching according to the needs of the child. It is important to identify the weak points and strong points of child and teach accordingly. I would want to make teaching an enjoyable , enriching and stimulating experience for th echild, and make th echild realise that ' Knowledge is Power'. I would be more than happy to explain more than once/twice, until I am asssure dthat the student understands the concept. I believe it is very important to have good foundations, so making sure that the student understands the basic concepts is imperative. It is important to make things and concepts interesting by giving logical examples from everyday life for science subjects. |

| Personal Description: Currently a History student at London Metropolitan University, studying mainly 20th Century history within the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe and America. I also have personal interests in film and political history. Whilst History is my specialism I also offer tutoring in English, Media Studies, Politics and Business. I can offer both London and Southampton tutoring depending on the time of year |
Teaching Experience: I have no direct one on one tutoring experience but I've worked as an invigilator so familiar with what is asked in exams. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that learning should be fun and experienced with the least stress. I prefer to use the skills the tutee already has to develop new ones rather than force new words/terms/ideas that may struggle with. I'm also aware that people learn in different ways so I will have revision styles that will suit the individual, whether that be audio/visual. |

| Personal Description: I was born and educated within a bilingual culture, Spanish and French. I have always been immersed in a multi-cultural environment. My professional background was first established in the trilingual administration, having to deal with all the relevant support and follow up of the Export/Import department, liaising with importers, secretaries and managers. I then decided to move into a different but all the same very interesting and rewarding field: Teaching. From 1992 until 2008 I sat various Certificates in English Language (Cambridge Proficiency, (UK NQ Framework level 3), Trinity College London, University of London Examinations and Assessment Council) and passed them all. My last two training courses attended in Paris and the completion of the CELTA certificate and the D.B.E (Diploma in Business English) delivered by the FBCCI, are a perfect illustration of my commitment to continuous professional development. |
Teaching Experience: Was a Business and MFL Teacher, Trainer and Coach from 2008 to date, in Paris. Delivering General and Business English courses to Adults. Training and Coaching Learners to fast track their general/executive English skills over a certain period of time and maximise their potential. Striving to help them become more efficient and confident when conducting business in English. Enhancing their knowledge of cross-cultural communication. * TAUGHT SPANISH AND FRENCH classes of children and teenagers at all levels at HABLEMOS, language private school, Broadstairs-Kent. HELPED to train teachers and also TAUGHT the GCSE certificate in Spanish and French at HABLEMOS, Broadstairs-Kent. PREPARED Learners for KET, PET, FCE, CAE, TOEIC Intensive Training Programmes. Focused on essential exam strategies, developed learner autonomy, and completed structured exam practice and homework tasks to be corrected daily. Held tutorials to assess progress and report on learner attainment at ENGLISHWISE, private language school in Spain. DESIGNED AND RAN a number of English Business Programmes for Professionals, in the work place and at training centres. DELIVERED Spanish and French courses for British business people. One to one or group lessons at HABLEMOS, school of Spanish, Broadstairs - Kent. DELIVERED General Spanish courses, and was responsible for the preparation, assessment, marking of internal course work, tests and examinations and completion of registers in the department of Language Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University. |
Tutoring Approach: Throughout my teaching life I have put an emphasis on the importance of self-evaluation and reflection in nurturing professional growth. One way of doing so is through keeping up with theoretical knowledge coupled with effective classroom teaching, classroom management, classroom climate and motivation, lesson design and so forth. I am an open-minded, positive by nature, self-motivated and hard-working individual and I firmly believe that the combination of my extensive experience in teaching and my cross cultural skills is a prime asset to perform efficiently and effectively as a professional Personal Tutor. |

| Personal Description: A reliable, adaptable and confident person, who is able to communicate effectively. I completed a BA German degree at the University of London in 2007. During my four year degree I was required to spend a year in Germany teaching English to students at a chosen school. I found the experience extremely rewarding and inspiring. Since leaving university I have been working in the City and I am currently working part time for a charity. |
Teaching Experience: One year teaching experience - Teaching English to pupils at a German school. Three months voluntary placement teaching children aged 4-11 how to read. |
Tutoring Approach: For me teaching is both rewarding and challenging. I believe that learning should be fun and not a chore. I have been a student for many years and I realise the importance of using a variety of learning media and materials to aid learning. I gauge the learning style of the individual - visual, auditory, etc, which helps me to teach in such a way that the individual will learn and benefit to the full. |

| Personal Description: I am a graduate of the University of Durham in Modern European Languages, having studied French, German and Spanish. I have lived, worked and studied in France, Germany and Latin America and currently work in a Spanish speaking environment in Leicester, where I teach Spanish, French and German to all levels in a private language institution. I enjoy teaching my languages and giving confidence to my students. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught Spanish, French and German in a private Language Institution in Leicester for over two years. During this time I have worked with learners of all ages, everything from providing GCSE support to help with Distance Learning Degrees. Most of my classes are on a 1 to 1 basis, although I also teach some groups of up to 8 students. I have taught Corporate classes for staff at the Alliance and Leicester and Santander Bank, teaching groups of up to 8 beginner's Spanish and Spanish in a business environment. In 2007 I gained experience working with young people in France, being an 'Animatrice' (providing entertainment and activities) in a VALVVF Holiday centre. In 2004 I worked with English learners of French (aged 10 - 14) in Normandy, where I taught basic French and worked in a French speaking environment. |
Tutoring Approach: I provide a student-centered approach to teaching. With the student, I assess their linguistic strengths and weaknesses in light of their goals, be they GCSE, A-Level or University exams. We then focus on the curriculum and what they feel they need to learn. My approach is based on building that all important confidence prior to exams, helping students prepare, and providing structured, focused and effective revision strategies. I am also aware that learning should not just be exam centered - by learning a language students are learning a skill for life. I work from a range of resources and use classes that I prepare myself. Classes provide whatever the student needs most, be it listening practice, conversation, grammar revision or just all round support. I aim to support a student's learning in the school or university environment, providing 1 to 1 classes to optimise learning. |
