Personal Description:
I am only taking on a small number of students this year. My skill set is best suited to students who are not reaching their optimal potential because of emotional stresses at home or school, or because the teaching is inadequate at school

My background in counselling helps me build rapport and bring out the best in students who have had emotional problems at school.

I am concerned with education of the whole person, rather than cramming in knowledge just to get through that exam.

I have experience of teaching both in schools, colleges and universities and bring a depth of understanding to my work with people from nine to ninety.

I have four grown up children.

I have worked in 3 of the four top universities in the UK. I am involved in educational projects in a number of schools.

Teaching Experience:

BA Hons. PGCE 1974. I have taught in primary and secondary schools, as well as sixth form colleges and universities, including Oxford and the London School of Economics.. I have also taught in private schools and been a director of a school of counselling and psychotherapy. I have taught psychology at Abingdon and Witney College, and poetry in many Oxfordshire Schools. I teach poetry short courses for Oxford University at the Ashmolean museum. I teach both GCSE and IGCSE courses.

Tutoring Approach:

I will always do my best to help a student improve their exam performance, using my wide knowledge of psychology and counselling/coaching skills, as well as my subject knowledge. I most enjoy working with students who want to gain a deeper understanding of their subjects that will be of use to them in their real lives, rather than just to get through an exam. I am very good at building a rapport with students, and finding a way to bring the best out of their skill set.

Personal Description:
I am a patient, friendly and enthusiastic tutor. I come from an academic background (Molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics) rather than teaching and as such, have a thorough and extensive knowledge of the subjects I tutor in. I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with others and I'm also good at explaining some of the more complex elements of biology. I am also registered as a STEM ambassador and visit local schools to share my passion for Biology and Science.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy cooking, swimming, playing tennis, walking and watching Hull City!

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored >60 students, mainly in biology at A-level/Highers, but also separate sciences and general science at GCSE level. My students have achieved excellent results; with most improving by at least two grades. Recent successes include an AS student moving from grade E up to a A and an A2 student moving up from an unclassified (U) grade up to a B. I am more than happy to take on students of all abilities. I have also taught at University level (2nd year biochemistry) and have mentored undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have some experience tutoring students with mild specific learning difficulties (ADHD, Asperger's).

Tutoring Approach:

My approach varies depending on the student as all have different needs and learning styles. For GCSE/A-level tuition, I usually concentrate on exam practice, with in-depth topic study for the more problematic subjects. I also use multimedia aids to help students visualise biological/chemical processes where appropriate and I have created powerpoint files covering almost all AS and A2 Biology topics.

Personal Description:
I am a post graduate student at Newcastle University, studying Subsea Engineering and management.

I have a calm look and I am very friendly, I can come down to any level to explain any topic in Mathematics to any student.

I see challenges as opportunities to conquer and become stronger, I try to explain to most students that once they get past any difficulty its conquered for life and it cant control them anymore.

I smile a lot and I believe any student will be at home with me, I believe learning is faster in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Teaching Experience:

I have had 12 months experience teaching Mathematics and Further Mathematics to senior secondary school and also to students preparing for GCE exams, this was between 2005 and 2006.

Tutoring Approach:

Approach to tutoring is a friendly approach, I try as much as possible to animate the subject and relate it as much as possible to real life everyday scenarios,

I also encourage students to do more exercise and try as much as possible to solve at least 3 problems everyday

References: available on request

Tutoring Approach:

I support students with many different needs and situations. These include:

*dyslexia
*dyspraxia
*dyscalculia (difficulty with maths)
*self esteem or confidence issues
*children who struggle at school due to emotional or behavioural issues
*children who have missed school for various reasons
*children who are home educated
*adults who want to `catch up` or improve their English and maths
*college and university students who need support with essay writing, proofreading and exam revision techniques

Over the past 4 years in my role as a tutor, my students have made excellent progress in terms of confidence, catching up with age-related expectations and achieving the desired level or above in 11+ or Year Six SATs. I have a loyal student base and much of my work now comes from existing student recommendations.

Recent successes:

Children who have not responded to tuition in the past have really engaged with the subject and made good progress.

Children who were struggling with Year 6 SATs have achieved at least one level higher than predicted.

Those tutored for 11+ exams have passed and gained entry to their chosen school (Two to Wolverhampton Grammar, one to King Edward`s Birmingham).

Feedback from a Masters level student on completion of her dissertation:

I would like to express my deepest thanks to my support tutor Zoe whose support has been most invaluable, without which I could not have possibly completed this project, and I am forever grateful for her help.
(Taken with permission from the acknowledgements of her dissertation, May 2015).

Personal Description:
I come from a mixed Spanish/Argentinian family, which has provided me with an insight into both cultures and language varieties. Besides enjoying the teaching of the beautiful Spanish language, I love traveling and experiencing different cultures: in the last 10 years, through my studies and job opportunities, I have had the chance to live in Portugal, Slovenia, Argentina, the U.K. and Algeria, besides 4 different Spanish cities. Even though I am moving less in the last years because I now have a kid, I still enjoy very much the cultural richness breathed in music and movies, as well as personal development activities, such as Biodanza. I enjoy nature, walks through the beach, cycling, cooking and spending quality time with my family and friends :)

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching Spanish in 2005 while living in Slovenia. I did not imagine the rich universe behind this task. Since then I have done many teacher training courses, the last one a Master Teacher Training for Teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language in University of Barcelona, finished in July 2011. In the last 7 years I worked at Instituto Cervantes, Kings College London, Merton Adult Education College, among others. I also started teaching online in 2008, working as a freelancer for Telelangue and Learship, the top European e-learning providers. The online methodology is the one I use now. I also work in the organization of language learning and cultural trips to Spain.

Tutoring Approach:

Student needs defines a different course for each individual, so during our first meeting we will discuss this. From there, according to the goals, background and personality of each learner, I create a course to address your needs. Classes are dynamic, fun, as well as following the learners pace. The great thing about this system is that we can stop at any point to clarify and explain further and again any challenging topic. We can work in mini projects to help you produce you own language from the first day. I believe in the independence on the learner and provide you with tools for building your own skills. I use a very user-friendly web based virtual classroom where we meet and speak live one-to-one during the whole class, seeing each other through our webcams, while working collaboratively on graphic materials.

Personal Description:
In all these years, I have tried to transfer my knowledge to everybody I had sat down to help with his/her economics and business exams (especially accounting and finance). I have provided, and still do when necessary, tuition to members of the family and friends.
Even in College, I have assisted friends in their maths and accounting courses, aiming at helping them understand the methodology that is behind numbers.
I have high confidence in myself that I can succeed in a private teaching/tutoring role. I have always admired young people's minds, and I believe that a teacher's responsibility is to help them both shape them and enrich them within the frame of each individual's personality.

Teaching Experience:

My current position is Lecturer in Finance in one of the leading private business schools in the UK. I am focusing in those areas that I have had a 17 year working experience. Working in the real business world for all these years is an asset for me, which will definitely help me transfer the knowledge I have gained, to younger people.
I have also been recently appointed by a secondary school, as Accounting tutor for a group of students to assist and prepare them for their A2 Accounting exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I have always believed that the best approach to tutoring is the pen and paper approach. That is, I find necessary for a student to practice as much as possible through exercises and problem solving. And as ancient Greeks once said: "Reviewing is the mother of knowledge".

Personal Description:
I am a 24 year old female teacher (and mother), specially trained in Secondary Mathematics and moved from Derbsyhire to Wiltshire in April 2017 to continue my teaching career. I am confident and outgoing, and have offered private tuition outside of the classroom successfully over three years - with all tutees achieving their desired outcomes in KS3 or at GCSE level.

Teaching Experience:

I have three years of working with primary children in both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire schools, as well as teaching in two secondary schools in North Yorkshire in 2015. I have been teaching Mathematics in a Derbyshire secondary school since June 2015 across all three secondary key stages. I am more than happy to tutor children ranging from KS2 to KS5 including college students studying A-Level Core Maths or Functional Skills. My youngest tutee to date has been 7 years old and my eldest being 19 years old.

Fully CRB checked.
Strong mathematics background.
Happy to travel up to 5 miles approximately - prefer not to tutor online.

Tutoring Approach:

● Encourage challenges and enjoy teaching maths through interactive sessions with a variety of resources.

● Explain topics to ensure pupils fully understand the concepts before tackling book work questions, and even create my own worksheets and examples to bridge any gaps.

● Understand the curriculum of both primary and secondary mathematics very well and take a calm, relaxed approach to teaching.

● 100% committed to making learning as easy as possible and adapt teaching to any style to meet all personal requirements.

Personal Description:
I am a Mandarin speaker. I studied in UK since 2013. I got my Master Degree from the University of Manchester. The subject is Electrical Engineering. I have lots of hobbies, football, basketball, magic tricks, dancing salsa and travelling. In my opinion, life is limited, but the quality depends on how you spend it. I am looking for a cool life expenrience and would love to share it with friends.

Teaching Experience:

I taught Mandarin to a British guy for 4 months.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing about learning a different language is passion. I would rather teach student Chinese from the area they are interested into than routine staff. For example, their hobbies, favourite movies, musics, sports and so forth. As far as I concerned, enthusiasm is essential not only for teacher but also for student. Also, I would use creative approach to teach Mandarin by hanging out in Chinatown, Chinese supermarket so as to give them a practival experience of learning a different language and have a deep understanding both Mandarian and Chinese culture. After student have passion on learning a different language, I will teach them Mandarin according to different sceneries, for example, topics regarding food, weather and so on.

Personal Description:
I am a 26-year old freelance journalist, born and raised in Germany. I have two Master's degrees, one in politics and one in digital journalism. Because of working in media & communications I am used to reviewing written text and highly aware of people's way of expressing themselves. I have a huge passion for languages and have learned Spanish for over 10 years now, including extensive stays in Spain, and I am perfectly fluent in English.

Teaching Experience:

Mostly 1 on 1 teaching and reviewing written texts over the last few years. Also, I taught a GCSE class in German at Royal Greenwich UTC for half a year. My students have significantly improved in their skills and I prepared several people for their move to Germany.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer a natural approach to learning languages which means engaging in everyday conversations that help the speaker get used to the way they usually talk in a new environment. I also look precisely for mistakes in any kind of written work and take much care about correct grammar and spelling as I do in my own publications.

For politics in journalism I can also edit written work and talk through complex political and social processes which I have extensively analysed during my studies.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate from the University of Kent - I graduated with a First Class Honours in German. I live in Sidcup (South East London) and currently have a part time job in London, but am looking to use my German skills a lot more than I do currently. I enjoy reading, watching films and listening to music!

Teaching Experience:

During my university studies, I did a year abroad in Germany where I worked as a Teaching Assistant. I helped teach English to pupils aged 10 to 18 and did private tutoring with two pupils. I successfully tutored each of them in both English and German!

Tutoring Approach:

I listen to what the pupil wants, and plan my lessons accordingly. At first, I will try a variety of different exercises in order to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie, and work both with their textbooks and create my own exercises to help them enhance their skills, focussing on where they most need improvement e.g. pronunciation, different aspects of grammar or missing vocabulary.
