Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Andrew but everyone calls me Andy. I am a recent graduate from the University of Kent at Canterbury.
I hold a Masters degree in Applied Mathematics along with a first class honours Bachelors degree in Mathematics.
My particular strengths are the applied and physical side, though I am well grounded in all areas of mathematics.
Both my degrees and A-level qualifications mean I am also comfortable in physics and computer science.

Teaching Experience:

Since completing my A-levels I have tutored many friends and family on a one-to-one basis, usually in the run up to exam season. I have been told that this help was beneficial in helping them obtain good grades.
During my University career I was able to take this further by teaching and assisting in undergraduate classes.
I also took the opportunity to mark students' coursework. This certainly gave me a feel for the common pitfalls and errors that can occur, and taught me how best to correct these so that the student can understand their mistakes and learn from them.

Tutoring Approach:

Different peoples personalities effect the way they best learn, so I try to adjust my teaching style to suit this. However that being said, I have found that for any person a relaxed and friendly environment in which the student can feel comfortable is always conducive to work.
I like to encourage the students to ask questions freely about any point they don't understand clearly so that if need be I can try to explain the point in another way.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed a Master's degree in Criminology, for which I achieved a Distinction. This degree has covered a wide range of topics and touched upon many subject areas, particularly psychology and law, as well as sociological concepts which have been relevant throughout most of my academic study. I achieved a 2:1 in my undergraduate degree in Social Policy (BA Hons) at the University of Birmingham. This degree consisted of a psychology module, law module, and sociology module amongst the core module areas of social policy and government studies. My a-level subjects were psychology(a), religion and ethics(a), english literature(a). My research interests lie in criminology, with a specific interest in victimisation and international crime.

Teaching Experience:

I have no formal teaching experience as I have remained in the academic field since high school.
I have taught many relatives and friends however, who are preparing for a levels.

Tutoring Approach:

I would like potential students to email me details of their curriculum and any areas of difficulty they are encountering. If this is done, I can bring the necessary materials to each session.
The student's input will be vital for the tuition to be effective, and so I will encourage students to email me outside of lessons and I will endeavour to email back the same day when they are experiencing any work issues.
I will encourage plenty of exam paper practice, timed essays and wide reading around the subject.
I am very prepared and efficient, and will make the most of tuition time so that it is valuable and beneficial for the student.
I am reliable, and so will not cancel unexpectedly or expect to take a day off on my own accord, and will contact the student if difficulty attending the session is encountered.

Personal Description:
I am a 19 year old currently in my second year of Glasgow University studying for a joint honours in Maths and History. As I am only two years out of high school, I am very familiar with the syllabus of both subjects and my relative youth should not be seen as a disadvantage. I am a responsible, enthusiastic person with a real drive and desire to achieve and am confident that I could help others achieve their goals as well.

Teaching Experience:

As a senior in high school I tutored younger pupils in Maths and occasionally helped as a classroom assistant, giving me experience in both one-to-one and group tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

I would first discern the main problems the pupil in understanding the material, and if need be, go back to basics to correct this. I would also try to create a positive environment for the pupil so they may be confident enough to overcome any difficulties they may have without fear.
I would teach the pupil to understand the subject instead of memorising it, allowing the pupil to tackle the subject more confidently.

Personal Description:
I am very much a 'people person' and love being able to help people out. My motto is 'work hard, play hard' and I'm an active person; my hobbies include travelling, reading, writing and playing sport.

I strive for perfection in everything I do - as reflected in my First Class Honours Degree from Edinburgh Unversity - but have a good sense of humour at the same time!

Teaching Experience:

I have experience tutoring A-Level pupils for their exams and I spent 3 months in Salamanca, Spain, teaching English to children.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in a 'hands-on' approach to tutoring; I like to use different types of media to help with explaining points or simply for deepening the enjoyment of a subject. In my eyes, tutoring should be about building a relationship with the tutee and adapting the style to his or her needs and circumstances.

Personal Description:
A very enthusiastic teacher with a passion for all subjects that I teach. Playing hockey for City of York is what I love doing during the winter season and then going for long runs around the Knavesmire. I also enjoy singing in choirs as I have a great love of singing and music. I also play saxophone and recorder.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Primary School teacher. I have been teaching for almost three years now. I began as a supply teacher, teaching children across KS1 and KS2. I have since taught Year 4 for the past two years and Year 6 regularly.
I have a wide variety of teaching methods to help students develop their learning skills and succeed in the classroom. I like to use ICT, in particular PowerPoint presentations to engage students more in their learning as well as visual aids.
My expertise is in Literacy and Numeracy. I use Phonics to help students with their reading as well as in their spelling in their written work. I like to use lots of Speaking and Listening and drama so students can engage with their written work. In Numeracy I teach number, shape, data handling and measures.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe children deserved an individualised learning curriculum. I like to tailor the Numeracy and Literacy curriculum to children's specific needs so that they benefit fully in their learning. When children are working on a piece of work independently I believe that having background music makes it a soothing learning environment and it gets the best out of children. I assess where children are at in terms of their Literacy and Numeracy and then develop their learning from the stage that they are on. I like to link Numeracy and Literacy with other topics such as Science, History and Geography so that it is a memorable learning experience.

Personal Description:
I have recently completed a BA degree in law at New College, Oxford University. After my first year as an undergraduate I was given a scholarship in recognition of academic achievement and was subsequently the recipient of a variety of other prizes and awards. I anticipate gaining a degree classification of 2:1 or higher, and am planning to go on to study for a Masters in law. I achieved an A grade in all four of my A levels, achieving full marks in English Language/Literature. I live in Caerphilly, South Wales and would teach from home. I furthermore performed highly in the LNAT (law entrance examinations) and can offer helpful mentoring in the technique required to do well in this.

Teaching Experience:

Although I have no formal teaching experience I have given gratuitous help to exam candidates in the past (with much success) and have the invaluable advantage that only just having graduated, the current exam formats, types of questions etc are still familiar and fresh to me.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring would be to prepare the candidate with a strong reservoir of both brute knowledge coupled with original and insightful analysis in every area that can be applied to almost any question in such a way as to make the candidate truly stand out.

Personal Description:
I am a keen environmentalist. I work with local schools and communities in the Glasgow area to reduce their carbon footprint, increase their recycling and composting levels as well as promoting a greener and more sustainable way of life. I believe that the key to a greener way of living starts in education.

I love to read and have a detailed knowledge of English literature, studying poetry, prose and drama. I have studied a range of literary periods, from Chaucer, to Shakespeare, Moore and Swift up to modernist writers such as Beckett and Brecht and postmodern authors such as Angela Carter. With this I have read an abundance of literary theory. I love to use my passion for literature and drama whilst teaching. I love to read history as well, having been an avid consumer of historical writings from an early age. I've a breadth of knowledge in all aspects of history, but must admit my real passion lies in modern history.

I have a real passion for writing. For more than four years now I have been a Contributing Editor of a well read and respected publication. My writing spans a variety of areas from music and film to discussions regarding the environment and living. I have written and compiled a host of short stories and plays. My writing experience is endemic in my teacher. It has not only solidified my grammar, but given me a lifelong respect for the mechanics of language.

Teaching Experience:

2 years.

ESL Teacher,
ELS Language Centers, Vancouver.

English/History & Resource Teacher
Chanel College, Dublin 5.

4 Years experience in correcting state exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I have been tutoring for over five years and have a personal and interactive style, believing the best way towards understanding is through practice. Each tutee is an individual and tutoring sessions need to cater to the tutee's personal needs. I feel that through discussion and time any subject difficulties can be overcome and prepare any tutee for examinations. Tutoring sessions need to be dynamic, they need to be engaging and they need to focus on what the tutee wants. Once there necessities are in place learning becomes not only a pleasure, it becomes synonymous with the tutoring experience.

I have held tutorials in person and online, believing that the internet is one of the best conduits from which to expand a learning experience.

I've had great success with my approach to tutoring, helping tutees of all ages and disciplines to gain a greater mastery of their subject.

I have taught English and Spanish both as volunteer work or as weekend work for two years in Mexico. I have also tutored Maths in Mexico, having received an A for Maths on my IGCSE. I have only ever taught guitar for fun, but I am capable of teaching up to around grade 4 and can teach the relevant Music Theory as well.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very relaxed about tutoring. In terms of languages, for the first phase of the tutoring experience I tend to use conversational situations to try and help students find their feet in a language before teaching them the more complex building blocks such as grammar and tenses. However, this is very flexible depending on what the student wishes to achieve. In terms of Maths, I know a lot of short cuts to take so that students can remember methods and formulae so that they need not worry about the approach and can focus on the numbers in hand. With Music, I believe Music Theory is just as important as the practicality of an instrument, so teach at least the very basics before picking up a guitar with a student.

Personal Description:
I am willing to teach biology, chemistry, physics and geography up to GCSE level and biology and geography up to A-level. Having recently gone through school myself, and achieved all As and Bs, I can pass my knowledge and studying techniques on.

I have access to revision guides and past GSCE papers which I will go through with your child for AQA, EDEXEL and OCR exam boards. I ask that your child brings his or her course text books to the sessions.

I have very resonable fees.

Teaching Experience:

I have had experience in teaching children in the past through the JSLA (Junior sports leader) and SSLA (Senior sports leader) award schemes and am now branching out into more academic teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I would first work through past exam papers with your child to identify any gaps in their knowledge of geography. Then, we would concentrate on these areas using revision guides and course textbooks.

Personal Description:
I am a native Spanish speaker from Argentina and a qualified teacher of English as a Foreign Language in my country.
I have recently moved to UK and I think working with Spanish learners will enable me to combine my range of experience in teaching a foreign language with my native Spanish knowledge.
Furthermore, I consider myself as an enthusiastic, resourceful, dynamic, creative and most of all, patient teacher who will have a commitment to working with others to promote excellence in learning and thus, make a positive contribution to students of all ages. I am able to teach courses with up-to-date resources as well as with enthusiasm and excellent disposition to make the experience not only challenging but also enjoyable.

Teaching Experience:

I have 10 years experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language in Argentina, from kindergarten to secondary school, in both private and public institutions.
In addition to that, I have four years' experience working with adults, teaching in-company training courses, where I was responsible for detecting and analyzing students' needs, planning lessons and teaching, assessing and reporting performance to human resources managers.

Tutoring Approach:

It depends on the student, their age and aims of the course, but in general I believe the learning process must be approached in an eclectic way, selecting those activities that best correspond with the student's learning style.

Personal Description:
I am a 26 year old male heavily involved with the current uk music scene, l love all aspects of popular culture especially writing.films and music.
l am passionate about these subjects and love the chance to talk to other people about them and gain further knowledge and pass my knowledge,l find nothing more rewarding than passing some knowledge onto another person and them appreciating and cultivating that knowledge into there own mind and way of thinking, l feel that todays generation of yonger children have the best oppertunitys available to them more so than any other genertaion and without the right guidance then so much talent and knowledge will be wasted and underappreciated so l feel that teaching is the only way to help our future by giving todays generation the help the encouragement they deserve.

Teaching Experience:

Not proffesionaly to speak of,l have expericnce with working with children and hope to complete a PGCE in the near future to further my involvement with teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

l feel by tutoring l can give my experience and knowledge to another person and watch them cultivate that knowledge into there own thought patterns and learn about new things they may never have thought they had been interested in, l van think of nothing kore rewarding then setting someone onto a certian subject they have never been interested in and watching they gain a passion for it and hopefully lead a career into that, l never had the guidance l needed whan l was younger and had so many questions about my future which l had to find out myself, l would like the chance to answer these questions myself to younger children and help them find the right path in life.nothing seems more rewarding than that to me.

Personal Description:
I am 54 years old and live in a Buddhist Centre in Bristol. I do care-work, supply teaching and tutoring on a part time basis. This leaves time for my Buddhist practices and studies and for working in the Buddhist Centre. I also teach Buddhism at adult evening classes.

Teaching Experience:

I have had 7 years experience in teaching Sciences and Maths up to GCSE level and 5 years experience in primary teaching. I have also had several months experience in supply teaching in primary schools and some experience of teaching English abroard.
I have tutored in maths (KS2&3) and English (KS2).
I have a current Enhanced Disclosure Certificate (CRB checked); A necessary requirement for school teaching.
Upon our first meeting I will show this certificate and all original certificates of my qualifications.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere with my pupils. I feel anxiety can be a big block to learning; especially in maths. I try to get the pupil to do as much as possible rather than me just show them how to do it. I will try to guide them through the steps of reasoning by asking lots of questions and by giving them time to think about it and do it. And time to make mistakes. Mistakes which they can then learn from. I also give them plenty of practise to build up their familiarity with particular methods. So my approach is quite pupil-centred. This can give me insights into what misunderstanding the pupil has. I also try to build their confidence through praise, a positive view of the pupil and by building their understanding progressively so they always have the ability to go on to the next stage.
