Personal Description:
As a school student, I was a confirmed hater of Science! I am still haunted by the drafty labs and memories of sitting in silence on wobbly stools taking notes from ancient text books and carrying out odd practicals with the ubiquitous Potato tuber. It wasn't until I started studying Science as an adult learner in an FE college, where I was taught by inspiring and enthusiastic lecturers, who illustrated important concepts with analogies, diagrams and genuinely interesting practicals, that I began to realise that science was relevant to me and was "my thing".

This experience has stayed with me and has given me a passion for making science exciting and largely the reason that I chose a career in personal tutoring.

I am a professional full-time private tutor. I have recently graduated with an MSc in Science (Medicinal Chemistry and science education studies). I have also graduated with a First class honours degree in Life Sciences (Open) and I have completed a Post-graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Education, specialising in Science Education.

Teaching Experience:

I specialised in A level and GCSE tuition and I have extensive experience working with a wide range of students, from those who are struggling and need help understanding the key concepts to those who do well in science but need support to develop the exam technique that will get them the top grades.

I have tutored students working towards exams with all the major exam boards, including AQA (AS, A2 Biology and Chemistry, GCSE core science, GCSE Additional Science, GCSE Biology and Chemistry), OCR (AS, A2 Biology and Chemistry, Salter's Chemistry, 21st Century Science GCSE), WJEC (A level Biology), EDEXCEL (AS and A2 Biology and Chemistry, GCSE, IGCSE)

I also have much experience working with students entering for exams as external candidates and I can provide assistance in making arrangements for this.

In my professional life prior to tuition, I was employed as a company trainer in the catering industry, working with newly employed staff on an individual basis to help them develop the skills and knowledge relevant to their new positions and training existing staff to take on more senior roles. This gave me extensive experience of one-to-one tuition and creating individual training strategies.

Tutoring Approach:

When I begin tutoring a new student, I spend some time getting to know the individual and we begin by discussing their current feelings about Science and what they would like to get out of the tutorial sessions. I also carry out an assessment of the individual's learning style (sounds scary, but it's not, it's just a short quiz). By discovering how the individual learns best, I can structure the tutorials so that they are composed of activities that will be both effective and enjoyable. In all cases, I endeavor to make Science enjoyable and relevant to the individual student as possible and tailor the explanations to their particular interests.

As well as providing subject-specific tuition, I place particular emphasis on the development of study and exam skills. Where relevant, this includes teaching essay writing skills, how to revise, how to approach exams and specific scientific skills, such as data analysis and evaluation, which are often assessed in course work. I also offer tutorial sessions which focus just on study skills, for those who are comfortable with their subject knowledge but need extra support in these areas.

As well as traditional face to face sessions, I also offer fully online lessons using skype and an interactive whiteboard which allows me to interact with students in the same way as in a face-to-face lesson. If you are interested in online tuition but are not sure how it would work please contact me to discuss.

Personal Description:
Hello!
I am a 51-year-old woman, native speaker from Germany. I love the theater and worked as an actress, author, and director. I also worked as a secretary and was responsible for the complete correspondence. The work with and via the German language is so exciting and leads you to a completely new world that I would love to share this experience with people that want to learn German.

Teaching Experience:

I am not a teacher in the classic sense but as a native speaker with a lot of experiences in teaching theater items I am able to help you practicing your new language - no matter if you need it for school, your job or just for fun!

Tutoring Approach:

It is my firm conviction you never learn better, quicker and more sustainable than in simply practicing a language.
Of course, it might be necessary to build a base first - that depends on your individual knowledge.
But no matter if you are a beginner or if you do already speak German - soon we will reach a level where we will talk only in German.
We won't learn vocabularies and grammar stubbornly by the book but we will practice the new language right from the beginning on everyday items.

I am no teacher in the classic sense - but I am a native speaker and I can help you with learning and practicing the German language.

So do not hesitate - just do it!

Personal Description:
I'm a professional actor/voice over artist with a BA in Journalism and MA in Acting.
I was born in Russia and have lived and trained in London for over 10 years.

Acting: I have trained to be a professional actress at a nationally accredited drama school Drama Studio London and have worked as an actor and voice over artist since graduating in 2011.

Russian Language: I am bilingual: native Russian speaker with native level of English

Teaching Experience:

I'm just starting out as a tutor.
Acting: I have trained a few students how to present better (in a corporate environment), and have constantly felt I could teach really well. I'm a good actor with clear understanding what demands drama schools have, which drama schools focus on what. I'd be an excellent tutor for aspiring actors.
Language: I've given a range of private English lessons to foreign speakers, and thought I might as well teach Russian too. I have a BA (NARIC approved, local MA) in Journalism from The State St.-Petersburg University, one of the best universities in the country. I have worked as a radio presenter and print journalist for a range of Russian media, including Marie Claire, Elle, Empire, Rolling Stone.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm very attentive and involved with my students.
Acting: This is very sensitive type of art. There is a lot of psychology involved in performing. I will not only help with preparing a speech for drama school auditions (speech clarity, projection, tension release, delivery) but also share a few tips on how to develop your acting skills.
Russian Language: I will be able to help only students who have already had certain level of Russian language training. I will help to understand how the language works, what Russian mentality is like, work on pronunciation, sentence structure, etc. I can not, I'm afraid, help beginners.

Personal Description:
My name is Bansri and I am currently studying my final year of BSc Mathematics and Statistics with Management at Brunel University. Tutoring Approach:

I have three approaches to tutoring which are flexible on the students' requirements which I have outlined as follows:
Approach 1: I tutor the syllabus to the student, topic by topic, and provide a lot of practice with plenty of exercise questions.

Personal Description:
I am in my second year studying Medicine at the Imperial College London after finishing my A levels at a South London school. I have an excellent academic record with 7 A-stars and 3 As in my IGCSE's. I have also achieve the highest score on IGCSE mathematics.

I gained 7 As at AS level. I received an average of 97.8% across the 5 science subjects (math, further math, biology, chemistry and physics). I have also achieved Gold awards at the British Biology Olympiad , Senior Math Challenge and the International Chemistry Olympiad. I self taught myself Further Math modules during AS year; I learned FP1 and D1 last year and achieve 98% on both modules. I enjoy the challenge of maths so I self taught two more A2 modules namely FP2 and S3 and I got 100% and 93% respectively. My A level results were 4A* and 1A. I gained 600/600 in A level Maths, 97% in A level Further Maths, 96.7% in Chemistry, 96% in Physics and 92.7% in Biology overall.

I am originally from Malaysia and I am fluent in both Chinese and English, and I can tailor the lessons to focus on whatever students want to learn about. I am keen to tutor students on sciences, math and mandarin. My main academic interests are medical statistics and applied biotechnology. In addition, I play two instruments and enjoy playing tennis and travelling.

Teaching Experience:

I began tutoring secondary students English and Maths during my time in China. When I first moved to London, I started tutoring students on GCSE sciences. I volunteer to teach English students Mandarin during my time in school. Having been through the stress of exams, I have also held numerous study groups and sessions in order to aid pupils further. I also received an opportunity to tutor two girls on As level Maths and Chemistry for two months or so before the summer 2015 exams.

During the summer, I successfully received a full time job teaching A level Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Toefl English in a tutorial institution in Zhuhai, China for 3 weeks. It was a challenge for me teaching full time and preparing lessons every day to meet the demand of the students. In the end, it was a rewarding experience for me.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning should be enjoyed, I believe the best way to learn is by finding what you are learning interesting so I will aim to make whatever I teach interesting for the student. My approach is tailored to the needs and preferences of the student. Lessons can include:
- Recapping material covered in class
- Going through homework
- Focussing on difficult concepts
- Past exam questions & exam technique
I am willing to answer any questions they have as long as they send me an-email so that I can reply.

Personal Description:
I am a passionate teacher of English who specialises in GCSE and A Level teaching. As 2nd in department at my current school, I have an excellent knowledge of new exam specifications and skills required. I am enthusiastic, caring and understand that no two students learn in the same way - you can rest assured that lessons will be written specifically for the student to address their current needs. I have built excellent relationships with students and I thoroughly enjoy seeing students grow in confidence and ability.

Teaching Experience:

5 years at a secondary school in East Riding of Yorkshire. I have done private tutoring before and will cater to the individual student's needs.

Tutoring Approach:

On the first meeting I like to sit down with the student and get an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses in the subject, outlining how they like to learn and what strategies they have found work for them in the classroom. From here I will plan bespoke lessons to suit the exam board and the student's needs. I understand that some students will be reluctant to learn, so I try to make lessons as engaging as possible (linking topics to their individual interests wherever possible!) Marked work will be returned promptly to both students and guardians, with further opportunities to make improvements. When working towards examinations, I will provide exam practice material, which will be marked and reviewed.

Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Laura, I am 31 years old and a fully qualified, Paediatric First Aid trained, DBS checked primary school teacher currently working part time at a school in Gillingham, Kent. I have been teaching for eight years in schools in Medway, and working with children is my passion - nothing beats that `lightbulb` moment when a child grasps a new concept, it is the reason I teach... and I particularly enjoy tutoring because you get to see that progress close-up.

I have grown up in Medway and attended Fort Pitt Grammar School myself, graduating sixth form in 2003 with glowing A Levels and then attending Lancaster University, where I studied English Literature and achieved a 2:1 BA.

After a year of soul-searching, I became a teaching assistant at Riverside Primary School and just fell in love with primary education - I loved helping children achieve, and more than that I loved designing lesson plans and ideas that I knew would inspire them. By the end of that year I had committed myself to a lifetime of helping little ones learn, and the next year completed my PGCE at Canterbury Christ Church University. I got my first teaching job, and then began tutoring shortly afterwards.

I aim to provide a high quality, professional and bespoke tutoring service, catering to the needs of each family and child. I specialise in 11+ tuition and have seen good results each year from the families I have tutored, some of whom have provided references for me to use.

If you choose me to be your child`s tutor, I can guarantee you my dedication, my passion for teaching, and my promise that I will do the very best for your child. Please do not hesitate to get in touch and discuss your specific requirements.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring children since I qualified as a teacher in 2009, mainly helping students to improve their test scores for SATS and the Kent Test/11+ examinations. However I am flexible and am able to work to a child`s individual needs, such as working on subjects they struggle with in new, engaging ways that help them with their recall and enjoyment of the topic. I am known for getting good results and seeing quick progress.

As an English Literature graduate and specialist, I am also able to help coach older children working towards their English GCSEs.

Tutoring Approach:

When I first meet a family, I provide the first session free of charge. I use that session to spend some time with the tutee, getting to know what subject areas they have difficulty with and doing some basic skills tests to see what areas I will need to be covering. I then spend some time discussing a bespoke curriculum with the parents, outlining my plans for making progress, and if we are in agreement then the tuition goes ahead. I do recommend that I see my students at least once a week to make good, continued progress, and often leave them with games or resources or flash cards to keep our learning fresh in their minds!

From my own home I am able to use a lot of visual aids and hands-on resources to teach - just things I have accumulated in my years as a teacher! I have a dedicated working station that will be set up ready for learning to begin. If I come to your home, I ask that you provide a relatively quiet area of the home where your child will be able to concentrate without distractions such as television or toys. I consider myself to be encouraging, patient, and understanding with the pupils I teach - but on the other hand I am also quick to challenge them, stretch them, push them. I teach them to believe in themselves first, and the rest comes naturally.

If you feel I would be a good fit for your family, please get in touch.

Personal Description:
Hello. I am Dr John, a university lecturer who is happy to support students at any level in any area of psychology (e.g. students studying for their GCSE, A level, undergraduate, masters, doctorate). Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching undergraduate psychology for a total of 5 years. This includes a wide range of subjects, including the core British Psychological Society (BPS) areas. I am therefore confident I can provide you with a high level of expertise regardless of the area of psychology in which you need support.

I have supervised undergraduate, masters, and doctoral level dissertations using both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Personal Description:
I am a high achieving MSc Civil and Structural Engineering graduate with excellent work and study pedigree. I graduated with Distinction from Coventry University, United Kingdom. I am currently carrying out a PhD research in Engineering in Coventry University. My experiences so far has enabled me to build a broad range of leadership and interpersonal skills. Therefore, I am able to manage challenging behavior and communicate effectively with people from diverse background.

Teaching Experience:

I have a strong passion for teaching mathematics, logical and quantitative reasoning concepts. My ability to grasps the basic ideas in maths have allowed me to excel in technical concepts in Engineering. I have an experience of teaching undergraduates through the support assistant role in the university. I have had a one-on-one experience teaching and supporting an undergraduate student with great success in his studies and research work. I am really desirous of further developing my skills as a tutor in mathematics. This will enable me to further build a strong career as a teacher and lecturer. I served as a maths and computer education teacher in a secondary school during my compulsory national youth service just after my graduation from the university. I have had the experience of learning and applying real life mathematics concepts of trigonometry and algebra as an engineer working in the construction industry. A typical example of this was in the development of survey data for the design of roads and in the preparation of bill of quantities.

Tutoring Approach:

As a maths tutor, I have the aim of creating in students the ability to understand the basic ideas in mathematics. I also do aspire to instill in students the confidence that aids excellence in problem - solving especially in examinations as well as in answering questions to unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that the capacity to grasps and retain the needed skills is to relate mathematics with real life experiences. This then easily creates the atmosphere for the development of real passion for learning and appreciating the subject. Hence, I do not strive to make the student quote the ideas and the notions involved in the subject, instead I encourage the student draw analogies. Even though my approach does vary depending on the needs and learning style of the student involved, I do aim to foster independence in the student by encouraging deep critical thinking. After teaching a particular topic in mathematics, my method of assessment is to test the student's understanding through additional problems and humorous games that relate to the topic. Also, in order to assess the level of my teaching strategy, I do request feedback from the student on a regular basis.
