Personal Description:
I am a French native, qualified languages teacher working in a reputable North London secondary school. I have a genuine enthusiasm for languages and for language education as I have had experience of teaching French in various contexts and countries.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught across Key Stages 3, 4, 5 within several secondary schools in London. I also had the opportunity to teach pupils with Special Educational Needs as well as gifted ones and I am therefore aware of their need for differentiation through support and extension activities provided when delivering lessons.
I am also teaching French to adults and I believe that helping them to learn my language is extremely rewarding, whether they are great beginners or fluent speakers. In fact, I have been living overseas for several years now and I think that I became a good ambassador of my country and culture.

Tutoring Approach:

I have specialised in one-to-one support and exam preparation (GCSE, Common Entrance, etc.) with tailored programmes to meet the individual needs as well as a creative teaching style. In my teaching, I always transfer to my students my own enthusiasm for languages and try to enhance their motivation and enjoyment of language learning. I set my students high standards for work and have received positive feedback from pupils and peers.

Personal Description:
I am a young actor living in London. I also write and direct poetry, plays and films. As my father was a Diplomat I spent much of my early life abroad: in Cuba, Hungary and the United States.

After studying Maths, English and Russian at Eton College I spent a year studying acting in New York and cooking in an English restaurant, then studied English and Drama at Bristol and have just finished a BA in Acting at LAMDA. When I'm not writing or in the theatre I'm in the kitchen experimenting.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored several students over the past two years in London. I have helped with English A-Level papers for a boy who got an A grade and will start at Bristol this autumn. I also taught essay-writing and exam technique to a girl who will be starting medicine at Cambridge this autumn.

I also have a lot of experience with learning difficulties as I have helped my younger brother all his studying life through his asperger's and dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

My inspiration to work in the arts always came from the books, films, artists and languages I studied at school and at university so I have a great amount of passion and interest in what I teach.

I believe this is very much the most important lesson for any new student to learn: a personal enjoyment and motivation for the subject. Exams are everywhere these days but it is important to remember that an exam is only a method for determining how much you know and if you can find yourself genuinely excited and eager to discuss what you know you are half-way to passing that exam.

Personal Description:
I am currently a masters student at a London university studying mathematics (currently with a first class average). It was not so long ago that I myself studied the maths A-level and as such I have a good idea of how everything works. I am comfortable with all modules within the subject with the exception of statistics! I can also give potential students a good idea of the maths they need to move smoothly into the university setting when going to study a hard science degree like maths, physics or chemistry.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored several times before. Former students have included both A-level students and gap year students brushing up on their maths before entering universities.

Tutoring Approach:

I encourage a practical, problem solving approach to mathematics. Solving problems is the best way to see why and how maths works. I would normally work through supplementary questions from the standard A-level texts (both my own and the students), showing students how I would solve given problems. We would then discuss theoretical aspects of the solution and then the student would go on to solve further problems. I would also aim to give a little more understanding than the A-level syllabus expects.

Personal Description:
"When it rains, most birds head for shelter; the eagle is the only bird that, in order to avoid the rain, starts flying above the cloud. Problem is common to all but attitude makes the difference".
That's what I believe. One must change his attitude to attain his target whether its a field of life, battle or education.
I am currently pursuing my Masters in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with first class average. As a teacher I have sharp edge in my specific area of teaching with a simplified approach. Being a motivated person, I believe in quality of knowledge and education. I believe that words must be weighed not counted.

Teaching Experience:

In the mentioned field that is Physics, Mathematics and Electronics I taught for 5 years and still learning these fields at higher level.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching is a field in which both the receiver and the teacher learns at the same time. Receiver learns by the knowledge and experience of the teacher and teacher learns by getting the different ways to do the same thing.I believe in teaching practically by considering the real world situations as our mind conceive more easily when we relate two things practically.I try to give alternate methods I got from my past experience which makes student to grasp and manipulate things in short time.

Private Tuition in Muswell Hill/Wood Green/Hornsey/Finsbury Park/Stoke Newington/Palmers Green in all subjects and age ranges offered.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe one on one private tuition requires a tutor who can adapt to the needs of the pupil.

I would wish to meet the pupil initially to establish how they may best be assisted and what are the pupil's key areas of concern.

In short, each mind, young or old, needs different approaches and I believe my strongest ability is an adaptability to meet the varying needs and requirements of every student.

My approach, in most cases would be to follow a curriculum, finding out where their difficulties lie within this curriculum and how best to illustrate them further.

I tend to use past papers when it comes to exam based tuition as this is ultimately what they will be faced with come exam time! However, when I have a pupil for longer there is more scope for more imaginative teaching or simply assistance with difficult homework.

With each of my previous pupil's I have needed and been able to assist them in a way that is individually appealing to them and I have never had a pupil who has not achieved their desired results.

Personal Description:
For almost twenty years I have cared strongly about how young people are taught. My background is in Chemistry but my subject areas have kept me on my toes mathematically. As a University teacher I have tried to motivate students by giving them a greater context than is often present even in advanced courses. I show them why a subject is taught and why it is important. I encourage them want to ask "what is the next step?". In addition to my teaching experience I have also had significant pastoral responsibilities which has given me insight into the ways that young people react emotionally as well as intellectually.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a University Teacher in Chemistry for 18 years. I have been a teaching fellow and lecturer at Colleges in both Oxford and Cambridge where I gained substantial experience in small group tutoring. But if you want me to lecture to 300 than I can do that too! I have also done individual school tuition for both Scottish and English exam boards. I am also an experienced research supervisor and can provide advice on project and dissertation work.

Tutoring Approach:

As I tutor I find it is important to explain the fundamental idea behind a problem; after that most content is really just examples. Once the tutee has grasped the concepts problem based learning reinforces the theoretical ideas. One of the most important things I have learned is that if a student is quiet then they probably don't understand; keep things interactive.

I am available to tutor in your home within a reasonable travelling distance of N8.

Personal Description:
I am a postgraduate at the University of Bristol; I have a varied educational background in Music, Sociology, Theology, Classical Civilisation, and particularly (my main subject) Philosophy. Within philosophy my areas are quite expansive; ethics, metaphysics, aesthetics, history of philosophy, philosophy of science, epistemology and the interplay between them.

I have an undergraduate degree in Sociology and Philosophy (2:i) and am reading towards my MA, moving on to PhD.

Teaching Experience:

I have run discussion groups and run talks and seminars of my work, and encouraged discussions in groups; I have also been a teaching assistant at a primary school.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to help people realise their potential, and help people to help themselves. What is important is to make the material seem approachable, and never to say something is hard; that already makes it difficult from the word go. There is a difference between having lots of steps and procedure, to being hard. Nothing is really hard, its just not seen how it can be overcome.

Personal Description:
I'm a 43 year old who qualified late as a teacher after raising my own children. I have run youth groups for 15 years and was a church Minister's wife for 12. I teach supply in all subjects at secondary level but having a primary aged child at home keeps me up to date with current curriculum requirements below that age.

Teaching Experience:

College lecturing in RS and Philosophy and ethics, key skills, personal development and supply in all subjects at secondary

Tutoring Approach:

That each learner has the potential to succeed in learning, but should be taught according to their own learning style, worked out through a simple series of questions (Howard Gardiner) That learning should be fun and productive and challenges met rather than avoided. That each learner should have cultivated in them a sense of self worth that drives them and an idea of their own individuality that keeps them driven.

Personal Description:
I have just finished my first year at the University of Reading studying a BA (ED) with English specialism, however, having found that my true passion lies within English, particularly English language, I have decided to transfer onto an English language degree course. I am passionate about helping children discover their true potential, as well as passionate about helping children with areas within their schooling which they may struggle with.

Teaching Experience:

During my first year at university I have completed a four-week teaching placement block at a local primary school in Reading, Berkshire. I acted as a classroom assistant for a large percent of the time, helping the children (year one) with their class work. I also listened to the children read and I also took whole-class and group lessons. During my first year at university I also helped run a poetry workshop, where I worked with a small group of children (year 5) to help them devise ways in which they could present a poem, not only altering the way they spoke but also how they acted certain parts of the poem out with other members of their group.

In June/ July 2006 I worked in a local primary school in Norfolk for three weeks where I worked as a classroom assistant in a year six class. My main responsibilities were to help the children with their work, as well as helping with displays and laying out materials which were needed in specific lessons.

In July 2005 I volunteered in a local children's holiday club in Dereham, Norfolk. My main role was to support the group leader, as well as to help the children with specific activities.

Tutoring Approach:

I am applying to become a tutor as I am passionate about helping children achieve to the best of their ability. I feel that my passion, not only for the subjects which I would like to specialise in, but for the children, is a big asset as it would enable me to put my all into helping the children, making the job thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring.
