Personal Description:
I am a University of York graduate with a B.A. (Hons) in English and Related Literature (2:1) and am currently working in a school as a learning support assistant. A third of my degree was in French Literature, thus I have a very high degree of French as well as my English skills. I love my subjects and enjoy the opportunity to work one-on-one with pupils, transferring this enthusiasm and helping them to get excellent exam results along the way!

Teaching Experience:
I am currently working as a Learning Support Assistant at a secondary school, supporting pupils with learning disabilities, particularly dyslexia and dyspraxia, so I am very good at working one-on-one with pupils. I have also volunteered as a mentor for two years. I thoroughly enjoy helping pupils with their education and am therefore very good at it.

Tutoring Approach:
I have found from my experience that pupils work much better in a relaxed environment where they are not afraid to get things wrong. I try to personalise the tasks I set for each student so that it not only targets their weaker areas, but also relates to a personal interest of theirs. For example if I was working on literacy with someone who enjoyed sports, I would find passages from newspaper sports articles to work on with them. I am never judgemental when pupils do get things wrong, I simply try to explain why they did so and work with them to develop methods they personally find best to use.

Personal Description:
I am currently a student of English Language and Literature at the University of Leeds, in my second year. In my first year, I was pleased to finish with a 2:1. At A-level, I studied English Literature, English Language and History, as well as an AS-Level in Psychology, and achieved A grades in all subjects. As a recent school leaver, I have the advantage of understanding the requirements of new style exams, such as essay techniques and formulas, from first-hand experience, and can understand the difficulties of my students. I am particularly interested in helping students make the jump from GCSE- AS Level, and from AS Level- A Level.

Teaching Experience:
Although I have little formal teaching experience, having only under-taken work experience for a short period in a rural primary school, I was available to assist a number of my A-Level and AS Level classmates during revision, as well as throughout the year. I was pleased to find that I could often find new ways to explain difficult concepts to my peers which made them easier to understand, particularly in History and Psychology.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is that each student is different, with different concerns and educational needs. I have a fairly informal approach which I often find helps students who find the classroom environment to be too constricting. More than anything, I have a friendly approach to my students which helps to reduce some of the pressure that they feel, particularly around exam time.

Tutoring Approach:
Tutoring entails a collaborative and friendly atmosphere between the instructor and the students: the teacher should not be regarded as the authoritative figure in the classroom, because that would probably demotivate most of the students.
Furthermore, a similar feeling should exist among students themselves as well. This can be achieved via pair- and/or group-work which makes students feel more relaxed.
Last but not least, a lesson should be based on the development of all skills, with presentation of language points followed by immediate practice. In any case, revision for the purposes of consolidation of knowledge is crucial.

I am a final year undergraduate student at King's College London studying French with English, I have a levels in French English and Spanish. I have just returned from a year living in Belgium as part of my degree so my french use is very constant and up to date.

I have taught English to Italian secondary school students as part of a summer programme in Medway called International Quest.

I am 26 years old and have obtained a degree in Primary Education from Manchester Metropolitan University. I have a diverse range of interests from computing to both playing and watching rugby.

Teaching Experience:
I have completed a 4 year teaching degree at Manchester Metropolitan University which qualifies me to teach all subjects at Primary School level. Having spent a year teaching a mixed year 5 and 6 class in a small rural school I moved to Leeds to my current school. I spent my first two years teaching year 5 and now teach a mixed year 3 and 4 class. At university I specialised in maths and design and technology, however I have since secured a role as science coordinator in my current school. I have also established a successful link with an Indian Primary School as part of and International Partnership Scheme - I have a strong belief that children should be taught to appreciate and accept other cultures, nationalities, religions and traditions on the same level as their own. Prior to my degree I spent several months in Malaysia teaching English as a foreign language to Primary aged children.

Tutoring Approach:
I have a fairly relaxed attitude to tutoring as I find that children respond better when they feel more relaxed. For me tutoring should not feel like an extension of school in terms of structure and academic pressure (at least not at primary level), rather the children should be introduced to teaching methods that are more fun and relaxed but impractical within a school setting due to larger numbers of children.
