Personal Description:
I love teaching and believe that this enthusiasm is fundamental in getting the best out of my tutees. With a proven track record as an excellent tutor throughout KS2 & KS3, I take in to account both the pastoral and academic needs of my tutees, genuinely caring about them as individuals and using their own interests within each session to help inspire them. I treat my tutees with respect and care in order to give them the confidence to achieve well academically as I firmly believe that confidence in one's ability is often the key to success.

Teaching Experience:

I have a vast experience of both the English and maths syllabi having taught in large, well-respected Prep Schools for the past 8 years. Having worked with a great many students of different ages and abilities, I am fully aware of what is needed for students to be successful whether it be in SATS, 11+, 13+ and Common Entrance exams or simply just to feel more confident in school.

Tutoring Approach:

Every tutor session is tailored entirely to the tutee, offering a range of different activities to ensure the sessions are dynamic and fun. If working towards an exam, then past papers and practising exam technique are key, not only to determine on which areas we need to focus, but also to ensure familiarity with the various formats.

Personal Description:
I am passionate about all things English. With 15 years experience of preparing children for SATs, 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance and Common Scholarship, I am perfectly positioned to help your child achieve the very best results. I am also experienced in helping children through entrance exams to such prestigious schools as Kings, Marlborough, Winchester, Stowe and Eton. I have an in depth knowledge of child development and use this experience to guide even the most reluctant or struggling child through the various aspects of English grammar and literature. I have worked closely with learning support departments in order to support and extend those children with difficulties such as dyslexia. I am an experienced SATs marker and so have an good knowledge of what your child needs to know for this exam.

I also tutor for primary maths. I have always found working one to one, means I can identify your child's areas of weakness and we can work together to ensure they have appropriate strategies to ensure success in the future. I use both online games and pen and paper exercises to ensure your child is interested and having fun whilst learning.

I have also worked with adults, helping them improve their level of written language, specifically working on producing letters of application, handwriting and up to date c.vs.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 15 years and am Head of English at a large, well respected private school. I teach in both Key stage 2 and key stage 3. For the last 5 years I have also worked as a personal tutor to children from age 7 - 15, helping them achieve their potential. I have had huge success with these children, helping them to secure places in the schools of their choice.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in working together with children and giving them confidence to expand their experience in both writing and using English. I think that all writing needs to be relevant and interesting to the student to encourage them to want to improve. I use past papers, when appropriate, to ensure that children gain a secure knowledge of what to expect in upcoming exams as well as many other resources to extent your child.

Personal Description:
My degrees are BSc and MSc from University of Belgrade and PGCE from University of Bath.
I have been teaching chemistry for last 25 years as a classroom teacher and home tutor. My teaching and tutoring experience covers KS3, KS4, A-level and university students. Apart from teaching, I have been marking on-line papers for OCR GCSE and AS level.
My tutoring experience in one-to-one tuition has broadened to on-line tutoring which I found very interesting and as successful as conventional tutoring.
At the beginning of my career as a chemist I worked in research and I have wide experience of practical chemistry which is useful when discussing chemistry practicals with my students.

Teaching Experience:

2003 - now Tutor for A-level Chemistry with Bath Tutors
2006-2012 On line tutoring for Fleet Tutors
2006-now On-line marker for A-level Chemistry for OCR A
2004-07 Marker for KS3 Science for AQA and Edexcel
10/03 - 7/04 Supply Teacher (mainly Swindon secondary schools)
9/96 - 7/02 Part time teacher of Science/Chemistry, Monkton Combe School

9/93 - 7/94 Part time teacher of Science Y7, 8, and 10, Kingdown, Warminster
1/93 - 7/93 Part time teacher of A-level Chemistry, Wootton Bassett School, Wootton Bassett

12/76 -5/83 Teaching Assistant for Inorganic, Organic and Analytical Chemistry, 1st and 2nd year and Chemical Education, 4th year, School of Chemistry, University of Belgrade;
Research in Organic Chemistry.

Tutoring Approach:

My main stand is to convince students that chemistry is interesting, useful and doable at any level.
I always start with a 'get to know' meeting where I learn about student's expectations and his/her abilities/problems. I show them what I could do for them and we agree about general approach and a broad timetable. I don't charge for this meeting.
There are 2 types of students: those who are retaking modules and those who want help from the start of their course. Main approach in retaking modules is going through exam papers and discussing problems, repeating parts of syllabus, adding notes and examples with learning about exam technique as well. The same approach is used with the other group of tutees, but in different order. With all tutees school work, notes and homework are discussed as needed.
For this work I use exam papers, Exam Pro data bases for all major exam boards, Curriculum press, Topic Cue Cards, various textbooks, Chemistry Review and the Internet. For on-line teaching I use Skype together with WizIQ software. This enables me and tutees to speak, write, and use prepared material so lessons on-line are no different from one-to one teaching.
To all of my students I email materials so access to PC, printer and the Internet is essential while scanner is useful for one-to-one lessons as well as for lessons on-line.

The prices are: A Level Chemistry at my home £28.00/session; sessions are never shorter than 1 hour and mostly last 2 hours (depending on student's time).
ON-LINE TUTORING: FIRST LESSON IS FREE AND THEN £25/session.
University Level is open to negotiation.

Personal Description:
After leaving school, I studied at Nottingham University for a BA in Music, then for a MA in Theology from the London School of Theology. I am about to undergo a research masters leading to a PhD. As well as studying, I work in a secondary school teaching RS and supporting students with a range of behavioural and emotional difficulties. My own interests are principally in theology, philosophy and politics, but also the arts, culture and social work. I am married, have one child, and am a keen football fan (Manchester United).

Teaching Experience:

Part of my current work is teaching Religious Studies and I have also worked as a freelance tutor at various points over the last few years for students studying Music, English, History, Philosophy and Ethics, at a range of levels.

I have worked with extremely bright students but also have a lot of experience of working with students with special educational needs.

Tutoring Approach:

Education is about more than being able to pass exams, although this is obviously important! I have worked hard for my qualifications and belive in disciplined, productive study; however for some students getting the highest possible grade is not necessarily the most important thing. Each person is an individual with different strengths and weaknesses, so I try to structure how I teach around individual needs and goals. When teaching I also believe that giving people self confidence, an ability to think critically and an enjoyment of the subject is an important part of helping them to improve.

Personal Description:
I am a former student of Peter Symonds College, Winchester, studying a BSc. Human Physiology degree at the University of Portsmouth. Having attended Hamble Community Sports College in Hamble, I sat my GCSE exams in the summer of 2009, achieving 5A*s and 9A grades, the top of my year. My Mathematics and Statistics GCSE (taken a year early) were the highest the school had ever achieved, both gaining an A* (99.5% and 100% respectively). I studied Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at A2 level - having completed Psychology in my AS year. I now study BSc. (Hons) Human Physiology at the University of Portsmouth, and would love to continue tutoring Maths during my time here.

Teaching Experience:

During my GCSE preparation period, and during the exam time also, I tutored several students in my year and below for Mathematics and Statistics, alongside their current teaching at school. I have also, however, given tuition to other adults, most of whom were taking their Mathematics GCSE as an extra qualification in order to get a promotion at work. I would be very willing to do any type of Key Stage 2, 3 or GCSE Mathematics or Statistics teaching for a person of any age.
I have now taught many students, ranging from ages 7 - 18, and all of those which have sat exams have at least achieved the grades they were after. I have been used as both a top-up to class teaching, catching up on lessons missed, and as building upon old Maths skills that need refining. I have also helped individuals gain much needed confidence in their own skills.

Tutoring Approach:

Mathematics being a specific passion of mine, I encourage students to apply their own knowledge to the question, before adding any new information. By showing proof of how a calculation or question works, I believe that anyone can grasp a method if they are shown the reason behind its usage. I believe I can offer an alternative to the class driven method of teaching, and allow students to gain aptitude in spotting the need for a calculation just by reading the question, and hopefully then on to creating their own calculations and solutions! I also aim to make a heavy question of 5 or 6 marks appear to be just a group of smaller questions, making each mark easier to get. I've been teaching for four years now and I've seen many students suffer from a lack of confidence in their own ability, and I always ensure that not only does the person have core, and advanced knowledge, but that they have confidence in the fact that anything can be achieved!

Personal Description:
I offer a one-to-one tuition service to AS/A-Level/degree-level students in English Literature. I am a patient, friendly person who can inspire and motivate students to achieve their goals. I can offer:

A planned programme of in-depth reading & textual analysis sessions to help understand texts thoroughly
Exam coaching and testing
Advice and written feedback on drafts of coursework/essays/dissertations

I am not a traditional secondary-school teacher. I wrote a PhD in English Literature at King's College London (1998-2003) and I have taught graduate-level students at KCL and Royal Holloway. I can offer an independent and adult approach to learning English. I like the challenge of making the subject interesting and engaging for those students who are struggling to see the relevance of reading books from 200 or 300, or even 400 years ago.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience as a graduate tutor (KCL and Royal Holloway, London) and one year's experience working as a private tutor. I also work as a freelance writer, editor and a personal assistant.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to treat each student as an individual. In an initial consultation, I like to get to know my student, to discover their interests, their personality and their job/career aspirations. I try to discover as much as possible about my student's previous learning and teaching experiences. I encourage them to self-reflect on what it is they find most difficult in studying English. I take a very structured approach to lessons, taking into consideration levels of ability. I set small achievable specific tasks and questions (for example about topics/themes/questions that will arise in an exam paper). I think it is important to give my students the basic knowledge and skills they need, but then also to stretch their intellectual capacity by exposing them to more challenging ideas and material. Above all, I am tutor who is also a learner. There are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers in studying English. But the ability to write a cogent and supported argument in an exam essay is achievable with effort and practice.

Personal Description:
I am French, having grown up and attended school and University in Paris. In 2008 I moved to England to work at the University of Nottingham as a lectrice; I then obtained the PGCE and have been teaching French, Spanish and History in a local secondary school for 3 years until I decided to start studying again. I also obtained the CAPES to teach English as a foreign language in 2011. I am currently studying for a PhD in modern history at the University of Nottingham, but am keen to keep teaching during my research. I am married to an English man, and enjoy reading, music and films as well as sharing the wonders of French cuisine with my husband!

Teaching Experience:

I have taught French and Spanish up to A-Level for the past 3 years at Toot Hill School, and have also taught French at the University of Nottingham for a year, concentrating on speaking skills.
I have also tutored students for A-Level in history, as well as teaching the Ancient History GCSE course at Toot Hill School for two years.
I have a wealth of experience working with children, teenagers and adults alike (my husband is English and I am doing my best to drum French into him!), I have tutored privately in France for three years before moving to England, teaching English as a foreign language and have also worked as a translator.

Tutoring Approach:

I adopt a friendly, enjoyable approach to teaching, with the belief that promoting a love for learning is the key to the success of my students. Whenever possible, I use examples from the culture (songs, films, cartoons) and history of the countries where the language is spoken to give more relevance to the learning process.
I feel that my wide-ranging academic interests encourage students to locate particular subjects within a wider context, which I find often fosters a renewed enthusiasm for the subject itself.
Regarding teaching languages, I believe in providing a strong and clear grammatical background, but i also encourage students to be more confident and spontaneous in their use of the language, be it orally or in the written form, a system which I found worked very well with my pupils while I was teaching full time.

Personal Description:
am 24 years old and commencing my doctorate in Ancient Greek with French at UCL this coming September. I was previously a student at the University of Edinburgh where I completed my Msc in Classics gaining a merit. Before that I completed my undergraduate degree at Exeter University gaining a 2:1. I have studied Latin for 13 years and Greek for 6 years studying both linguistic and literary aspects. At school I took the International Baccalaureate programme with English, History and Latin as my HL subjects so have an in depth knowledge of the programme. Throughout university I also studied a wide range of Ancient History modules so would also be able to tutor Classical Civilisations at GCSE and A Level.

My motivation for tutoring is to gain relevant experience for a career in lecturing or teaching. Finally, my interests outside of my studies include spending time with my son, ancient literature and politics.

Teaching Experience:

I formerly worked as an RYA Dinghy Instructor teaching their Youth Scheme in classroom and outdoor environments to groups of 8 children aged 8-16 during which I developed strong communication skills and an approachable attitude. This role also gave the ability to deliver constructive criticism, adapt syllabuses to different learning styles and centre sessions towards different ages and abilities, create a positive relationship with struggling students and to take initiatives to make rote learning entertaining through games and quizes. I have also worked with children with learning diffculties and behavioural needs.

To date, I have tutored two students for thier Scottish Highers in History. My primary student raised her marks from a C grade to an A grade. I have been on Maternity Leave since September 2013.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is multifaceted, I will first need to asses the students strengths, weaknesses, learning styles and interests to ascertain the best teaching stragegy. My main focus will be keeping them engaged with the subject by working within their interests and building up their skill sets by working with thier existing strengths.

I will treat every student on an individual basis aiming to engage their interest in the subject in order to help them progress and develop skills that will be of benefit for thier study present and future.

I shall also offer an introductory session free of charge to see if the tutee and myself are going to work well together and to assess their needs in order to progress.

Personal Description:
I am originally from London but have lived in Sheffield for eight years. In 2007 I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Politics and I have recently completed the Trinity Certificate in TESOL at Oxford House in Barcelona. I currently work as the principal proof reader for the Sheffield and Manchester editions of Now Then Magazine and volunteer for local art charity, Art in the Park.

Teaching Experience:

I have recently completed the Trinity Certificate in TESOL in Barcelona. The course involved teaching practice with adult students in groups and one-to-one. Whilst in Barcelona I also completed an extension course on teaching young learners. I have recently been teaching a beginners group at the Learn for Life Enterprise and I teach on a one-to-one basis through the Sheffield Association for the Voluntary Teaching of English. I have also had experience of teaching young learners through working in private nurseries, pre-schools and a children's art club. I have a full CRB check and will provide this with my teaching certificate in the first lesson.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is one that is completely focused on the learner and making the experience of learning as enjoyable as possible. I will tailor lessons to your precise needs and requirements so that they are relevant to you and immediately useful in real-life situations. I aim to create a relaxed and positive learning environment where you can speak freely and ask questions as they arise.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2009 and work as a restaurant manager tutoring maths part time. I work shifts so I'm generally available at any time throughout the week and weekend. I'm friendly and make my students feel at ease so they feel comfortable to ask for help with questions which they may not have the confidence to ask during classes at school.

Teaching Experience:

4 years tutor experience with pupils from year 8 up to adult students.

There are many teachers on here which may be perfect for some children as a tutor. I am not a qualified teacher however all of my previous students have selected me for that sole reason - so their child has a tutor and not a teacher to help them with their maths. They have all felt instantly relaxed with me, more inclined to ask questions and extremely driven to prove themselves.

Reference available upon request

Tutoring Approach:

Every child is different so it's explaining a topic in a way that makes sense to them rather then the way the teacher wants them to learn. If the child feels relaxed with the tutor they are more likely to understand something rather then just feel under pressure to say they understand.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, organized, hardworking, and dedicated 21 year old Second Year Undergraduate student from London, UK, studying Engineering and Business Studies at the University of Warwick. I am proficient in my numeracy ability as I have achieved A* grades in Further Maths at A Level and in Maths at both GCSE and A Level, as well as a Merit grade in the 'Advanced Extension Award' in Maths. I have also received the Bronze and Silver awards in the annual 'National Cipher Challenge' organised by the University of Southampton.
Maths is a great interest of mine and I take pride in the success of my tutees. I look forward to hearing from you.

Teaching Experience:

I started out by taking part in a 2 year mentoring program in my school where I was assigned to special needs students to guide them through their studies during class as well as homework. I have also done private tutorial sessions with GCSE and A Level students in which many of them have achieved higher grades than aimed for.
In addition, I have achieved Level 2 in the 'Community Sports Leadership Award' and I am currently studying the 'Introduction to Secondary Teaching' module as part of my university course.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor-make the tutorial sessions to the individual's requirements and I focus on them practicing exam technique, whilst also allowing them to think for themselves to gain a better understanding of the topic. I prepare for each session with work for the tutee to progress ahead with and often set a few exercises to practice on their own for the next session. If they require any help with issues that they come across in-between sessions, I am always happy to address them over the phone and in the next scheduled meeting.
As a fellow student, I understand the satisfaction gained from successfully grasping a certain topic and achieving the targeted grade. I take great pleasure in teaching a motivated learner.

Personal Description:
I'm a 23-year-old Chinese female student who is currently doing MA TESOL Studies (Teaching English as a second language) in the University of Leeds.I can speak both fluent English and Chinese Mandarin,Mandarin is my first language. I am outgoing and love travelling.

Teaching Experience:

I used to teach English in New Oriental School (a private English training school)when I was in China.I taught Chinese to one American student 1 year ago when I was doing my BA in China.I tutored adults IELTS for 3 months during the break of my graduation in 2013.

Tutoring Approach:

As using the target language can be seen as an effective key in acquiring a second language,I will mainly speak Chinese while teaching, also it will still be depended on the individual's receptive response,if he or she finds it's hard to understand I will switch to English.Chinese mandarin learning can be divided into Speaking, Writing, Listening, Reading these 4 parts (similar to learning English), but the grammatical structures and lexical system are far more complicated than English. Thus it's difficult for beginners to pick up Chinese grammar and learning to write Chinese characters. In that case, for beginners, the first thing need to be taught is Chinese pinyin. Then, the student will be led to know Chinese phonology---learn to know how to recognise and pronounce some easy words and phrases. Gradually, when the student have handled the basic elements which are necessarily used in Chinese daily conversation, such as wo,ni,ta,zai, zuo, etc,he or she will be explored to some short conversation with me.According to my former teaching experience, the effect of teaching progress is varied among individuals.I will make a syllabus which is based on the certain individual's level, purpose and requirements.
