I have worked closely with learning support departments in order to support and extend those children with difficulties such as dyslexia. I am an experienced SATs marker and so have an good knowledge of what your child needs to know for this exam.

I also tutor for primary maths. I have always found working one to one, means I can identify your child's areas of weakness and we can work together to ensure they have appropriate strategies to ensure success in the future. I use both online games and pen and paper exercises to ensure your child is interested and having fun whilst learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 13 years and am Head of English at a large, well respected private school. I teach in both Key stage 2 and key stage 3. For the last 5 years I have also worked as a personal tutor to children from age 7 - 15, helping them achieve their potential. I have had huge success with these children, helping them to secure places in the schools of their choice.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in working together with children and giving them confidence to expand their experience in both writing and using English. I think that all writing needs to be relevant and interesting to the student to encourage them to want to improve. Personal Description:
I love teaching and believe that this enthusiasm is fundamental in getting the best out of my tutees. With a proven track record as an excellent tutor throughout KS2 & KS3, I take in to account both the pastoral and academic needs of my tutees, genuinely caring about them as individuals and using their own interests within each session to help inspire them. I treat my tutees with respect and care in order to give them the confidence to achieve well academically as I firmly believe that confidence in one's ability is often the key to success.

Teaching Experience:

I have a vast experience of both the English and maths syllabi having taught in large, well-respected Prep Schools for the past 8 years. Having worked with a great many students of different ages and abilities, I am fully aware of what is needed for students to be successful whether it be in SATS, 11+, 13+ and Common Entrance exams or simply just to feel more confident in school.

Tutoring Approach:

Every tutor session is tailored entirely to the tutee, offering a range of different activities to ensure the sessions are dynamic and fun. If working towards an exam, then past papers and practising exam technique are key, not only to determine on which areas we need to focus, but also to ensure familiarity with the various formats.

Personal Description:
I am someone who very much enjoys teaching and helping others to achieve their own personal best. It is very important to me that my students enjoy their lessons, continue improving in their ability and I am always happy to receive feedback on how the student feels throughout our work together.
As the mother of four grown children, the youngest being twenty years old, I am someone who is very empathetic towards young people and adults who need my help. Together with my teaching, I work as a volunteer for two charities; this has given me a great deal of experience at working with others, helping them to the best of my ability.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a variety of schools, both State and Independent, have a great deal of experience at teaching English, preparing pupils for Common Entrance examinations and have co-ordinated English at Key Stages 3 and 4. I have also been in charge of co-ordinating PHSE and have been in charge of a Foundation Year for overseas students. Furthermore, I have a great deal of experience in teaching both able children and those who who have specific learning difficulties, helping them to grow in confidence and to realise that they can do well.
I have always been a popular and conscientious teacher and have helped many young people do very well in public and Common Entrance examinations, often helping them to achieve results they and their parents had only dreamed of. I am equally happy teaching young people and adults and I will endeavour to make any lessons I teach enjoyable and educational.

I have tutored for several years, and very much enjoy working in a one-to-one situation.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is a simple and effective one. I work out what a pupil needs and work hard to ensure that they achieve the right tuition to achieve their own personal best. I build up a good rapport with my students and have remained friends with many of my students and their parents since working with them. It is important that a student feels confident in their own ability and I always work hard to ensure that a student feels a great sense of achievement in what they do. My approach is enthusiastic, energetic and sympathetic, resulting in a good experience for those concerned who are working with me.

Personal Description:
I am a TEFL teacher with a university degree (Music) and am from London. In my day job I work in a music company. I also teach English to foreign students in London, having worked for 2 years in British Council accredited language schools both in London and Portugal. I am a very friendly person and really enjoy teaching any age group.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught TEFL in language schools for two years, and have given private tuition in English and in Music for 9 years for all levels of learners. I have taught English at all levels from Beginner to Advanced, plus Business English and conversation classes. I have taught children as young as 6, all the way up to adults, and vary my teaching method according to the age group I am working with.

I have a Music degree and play and teach the Recorder, as well as giving lessons in music Theory. I used to work for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in the syllabus department, so have great insider knowledge about music exams. Additionally, I also used to mark Theory papers, so know what examiners are looking for.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to be as learner-centred as possible in my teaching. First I will conduct a needs analysis to assess a potential student's level and to identify the areas in which they would like to improve and their preferred learning methods. I encourage my students to actively participate in my lessons - it will not just be me talking. I aim to make lessons fun and engaging, as I believe that students learn more when they are interested in the material given.

Personal Description:
I currently work on a one to one and small group basis with students of various ages in a Medical Pupil Referral unit I find the one to one contact simulating and highly rewarding. I have taught for over 30 years and am an Advanced Skills Teacher. I have always wanted to teach and love what I do. I am patient, understanding, supportive and highly aware of the need to enable the student to achieve. I work through praise and careful guidance work to ensure the student gets the most from the one to one contact. I was Head of Drama in a school in Dorset for seventeen years. During that time I worked extensively with children of all ages. I have trained teachers and guided those new to the teaching profession successfully through the early stages of their careers in teaching. I have directed numerous school and examination productions which has given me an excellent knowledge of plays and productions for use with English and Drama teaching. I have taught adults GCSE Psychology with a very good success rate. I have enjoyed the opportunities teaching in both the comprehensive and adult sectors have given me and I hope to continue this type of tuition through a more individual and one to one basis.

I create and work with a range of resources which are specific to the topic and area being studied and also create resources tailor made for the student involved. I use praise and positive areas continually as I believe we all like to receive positive thoughts about ourselves and this is a means to promoting a good and solid foundation to study techniques.
Although I have been teaching for a long time I really enjoy the challenges, satisfaction and creativity teaching offers. For every student I work with I plan and create personal , individual lessons and approaches which are appropriate for each student. This approach has led to satisfied individuals at all levels.

Personal Description:
I am originally from Ecuador, South America and have gained proficient languages skills in both Spanish and English. Although I have been living in the UK for a number of years, I have kept in touch with my roots and culture. I am currently entering my final year at Aston University reading Business Administration and Spanish. Having been back from holiday in Ecuador and Mexico, I can say I have sharpened up my spanish skills and am ready to embark on teaching and sharing knowledge with anyone willing to learn.

Teaching Experience:

Interpreter and Translator.
The translation of various kinds of documents has helped me develop professional translation skills. I was able to prove my capability of expressing ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Very good interpersonal and communication skills gained by interpreting at official occasions and on sensitive topics (e.g. hospital visits, court, Citizens Advice Bureau).

Tutoring Approach:

Being a student myself I feel I can relate much more to people currently undergoing education too. I am a very approachable person which means I can teach anyone eager to learn. Learning is matched up the the needs of the student, with speaking and grammer forming a great part of the teaching. Listening and reading will be implemented accordingly in each lesson. 4 elements vital to learning a language.I believe that practice makes perfect and with constant support and guidance, I am sure anyone is able to take on board a new language, being beginner or advance level. I am a very creative and interactive person that will encourage students new techniques of learning.

Personal Description:
I am in my late twenties, living in Central London and happy to cycle to most parts of the city. I am employed at the school where I used to teach, developing a school garden and teaching horticulture skills to students across all age ranges and abilities.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Philosophy, RE and Sociology at a high performing secondary state school in outer London, for three years. I have delivered excellent results in all three subjects at GCSE & A-level, across a range of exam boards.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer all tutor time to be involved with discussions, question & answer and face to face activities. This requires preparation on the part of the pupil who, ideally, should have specific questions and targets which they need help with. I am happy to proofread and mark essays, to be submitted by email or at future sessions. It is important to have access to all previous class notes, and details of the exam boards and papers to be sat. I am happy to teach to the demands of specific papers, or more general skills that may be useful in interview.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Geography Teacher with a BSc (2i) Honours Degree and PGCE in Geography with Geology from Birmingham University in Edgbaston and I specialise in Physical Geography at Advanced Level. I gained the David Linton University prize for fieldwork. I have lived in Farnham for over 21 years ( local knowledge I believe is important especially to Geography). I am married to Martin and we have 4 delightful children, two girls and two boys aged 14-22. Our eldest two are at University (Bristol & Surrey), the youngest in the local State Secondary School. I have followed our children's education closely and encouraged them on their way, so feel I have much way of personal experience.
I have also been involved with local youth and community work during my time out of the classroom and have had extensive training in Pastoral Care seeing each person as unique & individual. I take pleasure in helping to bring out the very best in each individual and this comes with encouraging young people to be disciplined in study and to grow in confidence and believe in their own abilities, one to one tutoring/coaching plays a vital role here and has many benefits.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in both the Private and State Sectors in 11-18 schools as well recently in as a Sixth Form College, teaching Geography to Key Stages (KS) 3,4 and 5. I am experienced in coaching pupils in Geography/Geology to GSCE, AS, A2 (various boards) and IB exam levels. but am also experienced & qualified to teach science at KS 2,3 &4. I have tutored for Common Extrance Exam Level in Science and have found this to be very rewarding for both tutee & tutor. I have experience in careers advise too.
I love teaching and enthuse about my subjects, Geography& Environmental Science are so much fun, and link both the Arts & Sciences, subjects that are so relevant and topical, extremely practical and liked by Higher Education Establishments and employers alike. I work as a part-time teacher in school to enable time for tutoring one-to-one which I find so rewarding. A recent example is an A2 Geography student who was so pleased to achieve a grade "B", he worked so hard and improved substantially on his predicted D grade. He is now at University and has kept in touch.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe one to one tutoring can make all the difference for some pupils particularly when it comes to training in exam technique; dealing with individual topic difficulties; practising papers and building confidence in ones own abilities so encouraging independent learning. There are plenty of resources to aid learning out there in this day and age but often it is hard to find the wood from the trees and learning to focus and find the best for the individual is not always easy. I believe it is crucial to assess the individual student needs and learning styles in the first instance and then build the lessons from there. This requires flexibility, experience and maturity on the part of the Tutor and this is what I feel I can offer as both an experienced teacher and mother of 4 of my own children.

I am a parent and therefore understand the value of ensuring that children get the very best of education especially when they are still young. I have also had professional experience in two sectors of an economy (Automobile Marketing and Banking) and currently enrolled full time for an MBA. My experiences will therefore be quite useful to my business related students. My hobbies include watching and playing football, music, reading novels and watching movies.

Teaching Experience:

I had taught for over 5 years before taking full time professional employment. I presently give tutorials to colleagues who are having a hard time keeping up with the MBA programme.

Comments from students:

From John:
"I've had several Mandarin lessons with Wei so far, and have always found her to be very professional, friendly and well organised. She has a flexible approach to learning, tailoring the lessons to meet my needs and requirements. The lessons are informative, relaxed and fun.

Highly recommended.

John"

Comment from Corinna "Da jia hao" As a senior pupil of Madras College studying Mandarin, Dawson and Wei have been very helpful in increasing my confidence with certain aspects of the language, especially pronunciation; finding examples of common English 'sounds' that I could relate to and even recording audio files for me to listen to at home. It was great to be able to go though any difficulties I was having at my own pace instead of competing with my classmates and they were both very patient and friendly, my weekend tutorials with them have been most useful.

Comment from Kenneth "Wei gave me several fun and informal lessons, which were exactly the sort of practice I needed before heading off to China.
With each class she provided more in-depth and involved content than that which I was studying on my own from a textbook. She was also able to give clear answers to any questions I had which helped me to understand points in the language I had been struggling with.
As she is from TianJin her Chinese accent is as close to standard PuTongHua as you can get. I would recommend her as a teacher to anyone."

I am very passionate and enthusiastic in helping students to understand and discover Maths as an interesting and easy subject. I ensure my tutoring improves my student's grade and confidence to achieve most success and best possible results in exams. Their achievements are my goal and priority. My name is Dave, and I live in the Inverness area. I have a degree in History (Hons), and my area of expertise is UK and European social history from 1700. I have also studied US history, Scottish history, and European political history.
