Personal Description:
Hello there, this is Clair here, I`m 24 and am currently undertaking a chemical research PHD in the field of materials chemistry at UCL. I graduated from my undergraduate Chemistry degree at UCL and prior to this I lived in Portsmouth having moved there from Malaysia when I was 13. This coming September I am in line to be secretary of the Chemical and Physical Society, UCL's oldest society.

Aside from Chemistry I am also like running, taking photographs, going to see art, films, music and learning more about the world around me e.g. economics, politics and sociology.

Teaching Experience:

In recent years I have been in junior schools working with children during their science practicals. I have also had regular work tutoring one to one and small groups of KS3-GCSE students and have also been called in to help particular A-level/BTEC science classes. At university I mentor to undergraduate students.

Tutoring Approach:

During our tutoring session we'll do the normal thing of going through past papers but also work hard at actual understanding of the concepts. I take a holistic approach to the teaching of history, ensuring that the student becomes engaged within a fuller understanding of the period being studied. I have assisted friends and families with all sort of coursework from international business management, Human Resources, health and social care, early years foundation child care courses, Health and social care,nursing and GeneralSciences. One thing about academic exercises is that knowledge is transferable. The skills acquired in one area can be transferred to another subject. What is required is, understanding the concepts, have the structure laid out, have the right evidences to back up one's assertion, provide appropriate examples to support literature and make your literature flow in a coherent and consistent manner using suitable connectives.

There is a first time for everything, try a tutor out and don't get too paranoid until you test one. It is always natural to have hesitations until you become comfortable with someone new.

My experience in working in 6 different schools has enriched my perspective towards education. I have witnessed very good teachers and terrible one's with poor teaching skills. I have worked as a science technician and teaching assistant directly involved teaching lessons when teachers are absent. Lana was born in Russia. In 1987 she graduated from the School of Art where she studied Monumental Art. Her works include a number of murals which are still to be seen in many cities of the former USSR. In 1991 she graduated from the Moscow Pedagogical University of Lenin where she studied Arts and Crafts.
In 1990, Lana made the decision to return to working in Ceramics. She soon realized that working with Ceramics provided the best opportunities for exhibiting her talent and creativity. From 1994 to 2000 she worked as an artist and tutor in the studio of Lyudmila Azarova, a famous Russian sculptor. Later on Lana opened her own porcelain studio where she taught Art&Crafts and created her first big porcelain collection "the City". In 2012 she moved to England and lives now in Ramsgate.
In the last few years Lana has been able to devote her time to work as a full time Artist creating watercolour paintings and porcelain.
Her works are in private collections across the world including the UK, Russia, Australia, USA, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Israel, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland and Ireland.

Personal Description:
Following the completion of my A-Levels in Maths, Physics and Music I undertook an undergraduate degree in Music, as a part of which I was required to also study Maths during my first year. I have been playing Trumpet and Cornet for over 30 years now and have been teaching both Brass and Music Theory for the last 18 years. I regularly submit students for ABRSM exams and to date I maintain an exceedingly good pass rate for all my pupils who decide to undertake Grade examinations in both their instruments and Music Theory. I strongly encourage my pupils to undertake study of Music Theory as part of their lessons alongside their Practical Study, as experience has shown many students attain Grade V ABRSM with no substantial previous knowledge of this area.
As Grade V Theory is a requirement of the ABRSM before a student can be entered for a Grade VI examination on their instrument I feel that teaching the Theory alongside their instrumental studies assists in minimising the delay before a student can proceed to the higher examinations if they so wish. Further to this I believe it also allows them a better understanding of the music they are striving to perform. While I encourage my students to take the Grade examinations as a mark of their progress I am also happy to work with students who do not wish to undertake the pressures of certification but just wish to learn to play or improve their playing ability for their own enjoyment.

Teaching Experience:

I'm a young, dynamic, relatable and enthusiastic tutor that loves to teach and gets a great sense of pride from my students success. I am intuitive, patient and affable with every student, regardless of background. I always endeavour to be the best tutor I can be and provide the best results for my students.

I ONLY TEACH 1.5 HOUR SESSIONS OR LONGER:
You may think this is too long for younger students, but 75% of my students are primary school students all enjoying 1.5 hour sessions because of the 15 minute fun time at the end (see below). Hour long lessons seem to end just as you are really getting into a topic and for that reason I only teach 1.5 hour sessions or longer. From my extensive experience it is clear that 1.5+ hour sessions are much more productive, comprehensive and effective at achieving results.

15 MINUTE FUN TIME AT THE END (FOR YOUNGER STUDENTS):
With all my younger students we have 15 minutes at the end for fun time where we do together whatever they want - like drawing or a game. At a young age tutoring is seen as boring and something really not looked forward to, but the 1.5 hour session with the 15 mins at the end completely changes that as they see it as I get to make a drawing with Daniel again today etc. If the session was an hour there would no time for games as you can't teach much in 45 mins. My references say I'm great with kids and prove how these 15 minutes make all the difference by making the lessons more fun, productive and effective at achieving results.

FREE FIRST LESSON/CONSULTATION:
The relationship between the tutor and student strongly affects the effectiveness of tuition so I like to give a free introduction lesson to see if we 'click' and you like the way I teach. It's also a consultation where we discuss where your child is at and where they would like to be. The length of the free first session indicates the length of following regular paid lessons.
