| Personal Description: To summarize and start an introduction to myself, I can say that I am a trilingual Dietitian. I have lived and studied in three different countries, in three languages, and in three different educational systems. Currently I am starting to live in my fourth country. My education started in the Lycee Franco-Mexicain in Mexico City, where I was born and where I grew-up. After graduation from the French school, my higher education commenced in a Mexican university (Universidad Iberoamericana), studying Nutrition and Food sciences for a year. After that year, I moved to Toulouse, France, and studied another year of Dietetics. Finally, my decision was to move to the US and complete the BSc in Dietetics in the State University of New York. After my BSc graduation, I moved to France again, and started a MSc entitled "Sciences Sociales Appliques l'Alimentation" (Social Sciences Applied to Food). Nevertheless, I did not complete the MSc as it was not what I was expecting, and I decided to go back to the Nutrition/Dietetics field. As a result, I am going to start a MSc Nutrition in King's College London, in September 2009. |
Teaching Experience: My teaching experience is as a peer-tutor in the Center for Academic Development and Enrichment, which is part of the State University of New York, in Oneonta New York, from September 2006 to May 2008. I was mostly teaching Spanish (100 level courses), as well as Nutrition (100 level courses). A few times I was called to help students with difficulties in French class. |
Tutoring Approach: I do not think that I have a tutoring approach, since every individual is different and has different needs (strengths and weaknesses). Hence, I try to adapt to every student and be as helpful as possible in the most suitable and adapted manner for the student. |

| Personal Description: I am currently working in AgustaWestland, arguably the largest Helicopter Design and Manufacturing company. I recently graduated achieved a First Class (83%) degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Sheffield. I attained the top position in the University of Sheffield in my cohort. My infatuation and aspiration to teach people is immense. I want to spread knowledge as much as possible. My A level results are as follows: Physics 91% Mathematics 97% Accounting 95% The following are my GCSE results for my core subjects: Mathematics 95% Additional Mathematics 93% Chemistry 94% Accounting 95% Physics 92% Urdu 90% My obsession for programming, electronics and autonomy ranges back to when I was fifteen years old, when I transformed my remote control car into a computer controlled car. The hardware consisted of relays and ICs, interfaced via parallel port through programming in C++. My greed for hardware and programming was augmented by getting involved in university projects. My programming skills are best reflected through my 3rd and 4th semester's results, when I achieved 89% and 91%. During my university life, I programmed a conveyor belt to sort payloads of various sizes using Programmable Logic Controllers. I also developed an intelligible GUI in JAVA and programmed SunSpots to control the motion of robots. I programmed PIC Microcontrollers in 'C' and Assembly Language using MPLAB in final year project. The circuit design primarily consists of two separate circuits. One was for Ground Station and the other circuit was for the Airborne System. The Airborne System was designed around a microcontroller, which was interfaced with GPS, accelerometer and Integrated Circuits (ICs). I am also proficient in designing Macros in Microsoft Excel. |
Teaching Experience: Due to my excellent academic skills, I have been given the task to act as a tutor to first and second year Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Students. My role is to help students with their queries in all subjects. Examples include CAD drawings, Thermodynamics and Heat transfer module etc. I was also assigned mentees during my GCE 'A' Levels to help other students with difficult topic. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that the best way to explain any topic is by giving examples and relating them to practical world. Therefore, in general, I would be following the steps given below: 1) I would start by giving an overview of the topic. 2) Explain worked examples and theory behind the relevant topic 3) Give some tutorial questions to solve, so, that the student can test their own learning 4) Help them with problems related to tutorial questions |

| Personal Description: I have a first from Cambridge in Sciences. That involved 2 years of maths, and also a summer school in Cambridge for extra maths. I won a scholarship while at Cambridge. |
Teaching Experience: I have been giving private tuition for over six years. This has involved meeting a lot of people at a lot of different levels. I often have parents say that their child can not understand maths. However, I have yet to meet such a child. Some have to work harder than others to catch up, but I have yet to meet the person who cannot learn maths. I also get a lot of adults who need maths to retrain for new jobs. I enjoy working with them. I get good results. Among other successes , in the recent GCSE, a student got her A a year early, another got a C a year early, and in August last year, one of my students passed her AMFIT course enabling her to go on a teacher training course this year, instead of having to wait until September next year. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach is to be friendly, patient and understanding. I aim to teach the concepts behind maths, rather than rote learning. My lessons are also packed with work for the student. I also am preparing short videos to cover maths modules. These videos will be comprehensive and detailed. They will include exercises, and fully worked out past papers. Watching these videos, at a cost of one pound per hour, will save students a lot of lessons. I have already created hundreds of short videos to cover C1, C2,C3 at AS Level and Higher GCSE Level. That is about ten pence per video for comprehensive tuition for my students. |

| Personal Description: i am currently in my first year at kent university doing BSc forensic science. i went to the best college in my country where i did my GCE O Level and GCE A Level |
Teaching Experience: My mother is a primary teacher and i used to assist her in teaching during private tuitions and at the school in which she works. Sometimes she used to leave the class on my responsibility. The kids love me as a teacher. |
Tutoring Approach: i believe that the best way to learn is not through rote learning. If the student does not understand when i explain something, i'll find different ways and contexts to explain it and i'll keep doing this until i am satisfied that the student is confident of himself/herself and that he/she can explain it to somebody who has no knowledge on that subject. |

| Personal Description: I am 22 years old, and I have lived in Brighton for the past 4 years. I come from a very mixed background and as a child and young adult I moved frequently. I have been lucky to enjoy a fair amount of travelling, mostly in Europe and South America. Spanish and French are the languages I was raised in, but I am as well fluent in English. I have finished a degree in Ecology and Conservation, and now I am studying permaculture. I have always been fascinated by science and as a child I would love to learn about Chemistry, Biology and Maths. I really enjoy working with children, I have got 4 nieces and 2 nephews (with ages ranging from 1 to 11) and take care of them all from time to time. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught English and Spanish in Guatemala and El Salvador to villagers who had never been taught to read and write before. I did this every weekend for 2 years before graduating from school and it was the most gratifying experience as one opens a whole new set of windows towards the world for these people. When someone who hasn't read their whole life picks up a page and reads a few words their face always gives out a big honest smile. I also have experience tutoring the young ones in school mainly in the scientific areas and have realized that many students in difficulties are only lacking a few steps in order to understand the mechanism of let's say the carbon cycle, or a factorisation etc... I have also gained experience working with children in more of a active way. I have coached a Basket-Ball team of under 11's and as a baby-sitter including homework help. I do not have extensive experience but I have always taken pleasure from helping others. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is quite modern. In languages, I believe it is necessary to solely speak in the language being taught. Even if the student does not understand at first, I believe their are ways of explaining in that same language in order for the student to really understand the word and not only associate it to its equivalent in English. I believe in total cultural immersion of the student also helps when trying to learn a language, in other words, I will try not to bore the student by showing him the culture, the food, the sites for example of the french, or the South American, to motivate him or her to learn these languages and then maybe experience these cultures on their own. In Sciences, which I love, I will attract the student's attention by showing him funny and astonishing examples that I believe are easier to remember than the boring text book examples. I believe Scientific reasoning to work in mechanisms and it will be my duty to try to get the student to understand how these mechanisms work. I will not try to write facts on a white board and expect the student to memories them. I will give the students the tools so he can draw at the end of the lesson the whole water cycle perfectly. I beleive that by showing the student that HE or SHE can manage the problem on their own boosts their morale and therefore empowers them to get over the fear of maths or biology for example... |

| Personal Description: I am 26, male, and have lived in Leeds most of my life. I look young for my age and am exceptionally easy going, and never afraid of a challenge. When I am not working, I enjoy the martial arts and regularly attend karate training three times a week, taking part in competitions both nationally and internationally. |
Teaching Experience: During my TEFL course, I have worked as a teacher in a controlled setting teaching young children through to mature adults. These classes were aimed at developing my skills as a teacher and increasing my awareness of the methodology that can be used. These sessions were always followed by a constructive feedback session with the trainer. During this course, I also taught at a local telecommunications firm in Prague called 2N. These were private lessons, twice a week, and were to Advanced level students. At the end of the course, I accepted the offer of a language school (as noted above) to work as an English teacher in their language school. Again, I was teaching students from all yeargroups. I have the experience working with all ages and how to control a classroom if necessary and know that I would make a valuable asset to your school. I have taught classes in excess of 20 students. |
Tutoring Approach: I am able to teach English to foreign students in a mature and friendly manner - employing key curriculum and grammar aspects in a way that makes learning more interesting and fun for the student. I am proficient in the use of IT and pride myself on my ability to form lesson plans and organise my time in an efficient and coherent manner. I especially enjoy working as a part of a team and derive great satisfaction from seeing students learn and progressing with their studies. I possess the ability to help students in need while maintaining a professional demeanour at all times. During my time as a teacher, I also learnt key skills relating to classroom management and when to employ different methods. I am reliable, trustworthy, and have an infectious smile and personality. |

| Personal Description: I am a primary teacher working within a school within East Dunbartonshire. I have a wide range of experience in working with children on a professional level , within schools, and also in more relaxed environments through previous roles as a play worker, holidays club leader, youth clubs and kids church. I believe myself to be an easy going individual who gets along with everyone. I have a hardworking nature and love to gain a sense of achievement and have purpose in what I am doing. I am known to be reliable and always smiling. I have found I communicate well with others and have found them to find me trustworthy, approachable and friendly. I have a heart for seeing children reach their potential in life and experiencing education in a fun effective way. I take pride in being an organized person. Creativity is one of my strengths and I love to come up with ideas that are fresh and vibrant.I believe myself to be a well rounded individual, open to new challenges and experiences. I also have Disclosure Scotland. |
Teaching Experience: Throughout the past five years, I have taught children from 3-11 years old. In my primary four class, I have experience in working with children with additional support needs and bilingual children. Within the class I have had to adapt my lessons/tasks and alter my classroom management to get the best from these pupils. I value the importance of making links with other subjects. Integrating different subjects gives children a richer and more purposeful learning experience. I believe in the sharing of learning intentions with children which I have done before using WALT and WILF. I use formative assessment techniques such as peer assessment, self assessment and different marking strategies.I have seen the benefits these bring to the development and progression of learning. Overall, I feel tutoring allows me to give one on one support to see children experience success in their academic studies. |
Tutoring Approach: The child should be at the centre of all learning. I feel that learning should be active, creative and accommodate the different ways in which children learn. From working within a school, I have a wide range of resources on hand to help further children's learning. |

| Personal Description: I am working in a school at the moment as a special needs assistant and I am hopefully going on to do a PGCE in English (with Drama) in Glasgow in 2011. I have a BA(hons) degree in Drama and English. I am outgoing, caring and have a real love for teaching children. |
Teaching Experience: I work in a primary school assisting children with special needs which involves working one-to-one with a child who has autism. My job can be demanding but very rewarding. In my spare time, I also help out at the schools homework club. I have been tutoring for a few months now. |
Tutoring Approach: I hope to help children who maybe struggle with conventional teaching by igniting a love of learning via the things that interest them and help them grow in confidence in their learning. I enjoy working one-to-one with children and find that this attention can often help them to progress more quickly than in classroom situations. |
