Personal Description:
I am currently a third year medical student from the University of Newcastle but I have also graduated in Human Sciences from the University of Durham back in 2007. During the holidays I live in London. I have a wealth of experience working with children and teenagers from being a Christmas grotto host at Harrods to volunteering at Great Ormond Street Hospital for over a year.

My work ethic when I was younger was not as disciplined as it is now and I am aware of the difficulties that students can face when it comes to learning new concepts and hope to help tutees overcome these barriers.

Having applied to grammar school, university and medical school I am aware of all the application processes and interviewing processes.

I am outgoing and to keep active I play hockey for my local club and my university college.

Teaching Experience:

I have helped younger family members to grasp ideas and offer new ways of learning if they were struggling. I have had job roles in the past training new employees up and feel this is a mode of teaching.

I would like to extend my higher knowledge to helping students achieve top grades in their GCSE's and A-levels

Within my current course we have peer to peer teaching which has proved to be a very effective learning tool.

Tutoring Approach:

Different individuals have different learning styles, I for one am more visual. I would try to get an understanding of how the tutee learns best, and encourage them to engage in activities that would help them. For instance, if they are visual learners then get them to draw things out.

Encouragement and patience is of great importance and listening to the needs of the individual.

My role as a tutor would be to guide and encourage the tutee to reach their educational and professional goals.

Personal Description:
Experienced Session Musician, with 11 years live and studio experience. 8 years tutoring experience. Two co-written South African chart singles, 8 studio albums ( session and co-writing ), three international releases. One South African National tour.

Teaching Experience:

Having started my own music college in South Africa 6 years ago and tutoring students on a one to one basis for the last year in London. My experience as a tutor is vast, not only do I have teaching/tutoring experience but also years of live session work in studio and on stage with various bands. Often co-writing singles that would go to chart.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is tailored to each individual. Obviously in group sessions this can become complicated but I do always give each student personal attention so that they are learning the way that best suits them. I find just teaching students theory tends to take the Joy of music away ( and Music is first and foremost about joy and love for the art ). At the same time, on the opposite side of the coin not teaching the student any theory can be destructive.

My approach entails a mixture of Technique, Theory, and a vast amount of Practical. Because of each student being an individual, I mould my approach in how I teach them in these three areas, to maximize their potential.

Personal Description:
I'm an Optometry graduate from University of Manchester. As a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese, I was educated in English at school in Malaysia and I learnt my mother tongue since when I was little. In addition, I have acquired Malay language as my third language throughout my academic life. In my past A Levels examination, I gained A* in Mathematics, and A in both Biology and Chemistry. I believe my academic achievement makes me a good fit in tutoring the subjects above.

Teaching Experience:

Tutored in Chemistry and Biology A Level in the past three years. Actively involved in peer to peer tutoring programme in A Levels as a Chemistry tutor in college for 1 year.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm willing to go through past exam papers and exercises as for Maths, Chemistry and Biology with students should they don't understand them and wouldn't mind to go extra mile to prepare notes and useful study skills for the students. I reckon that tutoring in a friendly manner would enhance learning process instead of forcing the student to do as said. Also, I believe that learning to speak Mandarin Chinese is easier when a student works with a native speaker as this allows the student to learn the correct pronunciation quickly. This would also be a good starting point if you want to learn basic Chinese language.

Personal Description:
For the last two years I have worked full time as a tutor but have tutored alongside studying for five years. I am a graduate of Durham (BA History), and UCL (MA Central and South Eastern European Studies).

My main areas of interest are humanities and languages and I am an enthusiastic and passionate communicator. I currently hold a DBS check certificate.

Teaching Experience:

I am a very experienced tutor, having spent the past five academic years tutoring a range of subjects, and have a passion for teaching and communication. Having been a part time participant of mainstream education until recently, and having tutored many different pupils at different levels in different subjects in that time, I have a clear understanding of the structure of current A-Level courses and the necessary requirements. I have a very high success rate with many of my pupils achieving the highest grades and all demonstrating a marked improvement since tuition.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my tutoring approach to the tutee's needs and the subject being taught. Generally, I do a combination of exam technique, subject revision and coursework support. I have made many an amusing yet educational quiz and strongly encourage pupils to achieve the best grade possible.

Personal Description:
I'm a well spoken and friendly "science geek" with great interpersonal skills. I pride myself on a relaxed and logical approach to problem solving; whether it be at a post-graduate level or the ability to communicate GCSE and A-Level topics in a relevant manner. Throughout my schooling I saw many classmates struggle with topics because they were unable to make a connection to their interests. Personal tutoring allows the tutee to have access to the information in a tailored manor such that they are able to relate the the problem and make clear logical choices about how to proceed.

I graduated with an MSci in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham last year and I'm currently in my 1st year of a 4 year PhD, also Chemistry. Throughout my course I did extra maths and physics modules and my research currently also depends heavily on all the sciences and maths. For those interested in Uni-level tutoring within Chemistry; my PhD involves a lot of vibrational spectroscopy (inorganic section), and I regularly use all the physics, maths and inorganic chemistry taught at undergrad level.

Teaching Experience:

Tutoring:
I have tutored multiple students in the past, providing entire revision/improvement courses for both GCSE and A-level students as well as help a variety of university students achieving high grades on specific modules.

The tailored approach of private tuition allows students to quickly build confidence in a subject (and exam technique) which results in achieving grades that each student is capable of. I've also offered subject specific tutoring, such as "Quantitive Analysis for Business", a statistical module for Business Management students.

University:
Demonstrating: I help undergrad students understand and complete practical experiments several times a week.
A-Level Outreach/UCAS: I participate in numerous UCAS events to help potential students and parents understand what Chemistry at Nottingham Uni has to offer.

Outdoor Education:
Last summer I lived in a forest for 3 months and each week had a different group of 12-16 year olds to look after and teach them how to survive in the wild. Catching and cooking our food, building shelters to sleep in and different ways to make fire were just some of the topics covered.

Tutoring Approach:

An essential part of great exam grades is an understanding of not only the subject area, but an understanding of the underlying question. Tailoring a teaching style to every student is essential, especially when it comes to science and maths. Although it's possible to pass exams with a "copy and paste" approach, developing an understanding of the subject area will yield much better grades and almost certainly reducing the amount of stress associated with exams.

Any questions please drop me a message!

Personal Description:
Currently a University student studying IT at Birkbeck College, University of London.
I am currently looking to teach maths as I did that for A-levels and more comfortable doing that.

Sent off a application for CRB check and should be receiving it by 3rd week in October 2016.

Teaching Experience:

I have no teaching experience but starting to mentor and tutor a GCSE level student.

Tutoring Approach:

I have had tutors before and want to follow them:
I first explain how to do the questions and methods. Once understood I would give a few questions to do and
then hw at the end. If other approaches are needed, I will do so.

Apart from tutoring, if required I can mentor aswell.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher with 3 years experience of successfully teaching Biology to GCSE and A-Level. Having recently relocated and now living and working in East London, I am looking to tutor at weekends or weekday evenings.

I have an Upper Second Class BSc degree, with Honours, from the University of Leeds in Human Genetics. This course contained a significant amount of Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, further building on my previous qualifications (including 3 A's at A-level, 6 A*s and 5 A's at GCSE).

Additionally, I have had two years experience in industry. This includes 18 months spent working as a project and account manager for a successful biotechnology company, and a further 6 months spent working in a radiotherapy department as an assistant practitioner. Both of these roles heavily involved the application of scientific principles, contributing to the knowledge I hold of the relevance of science to the real world.

Teaching Experience:

I have three years experience teaching KS3, KS4 and KS5 Biology at a high achieving well established Church of England School in Bolton. A large percentage of my teaching timetable included teaching Biology to high ability pupils at KS5. In Summer 2015, every single one of my A2 pupils progressed to achieve and/or exceed their target grades, with 7 of my 30 pupils achieving A*s. During this time I worked closely with the Head of Biology to develop schemes of work and resources to help better structure and streamline our teaching of the specification. In order to further enrich the quality of my teaching, I successfully applied to AQA for the position of examiner, and I have just completed my first summer of examining (GCSE). I therefore consider myself to have an up to date knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments.

I have recently started in the new position as Teacher of Biology a the Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre: an outstanding provider of A Level education based in East London. The college opened in September 2014 and aims to push able local students to enable them to progress to the best and most competitive universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.

Tutoring Approach:

Biology helps pupils to understand the world around them, inspires their curiosity and encourages them to ask questions. Such thought processes should be nurtured and encouraged by utilising activities and questioning techniques that excite the imagination whilst portraying the relevance and application of science in the wider world.

My approach to tutoring involves teaching beyond the specification, to encourage a thorough, rich understanding of the subject by providing additional details that might be glossed over in the classroom. This allows pupils to make links between topics, enabling them to apply their knowledge to unfamiliar contexts. I will ensure pupils are familiar with the different ways questions can be presented, by utilising past paper questions where neccessary.

I love my job. I am passionate about my subject and this passion shows through in my approach to tutoring. If this fits well with you, then I look forward to hearing from you!

Personal Description:
I am a 23 year-old postgraduate student in Durham University, with a masters in mathematics.

Teaching Experience:

In 2010-2012 I was the initiator of a volunteer project called 'Fairy tales in Pictures'. The project involved working, communicating and interacting with children with learning difficulties, playing games with them and teaching them to tackle different tasks. This was an opportunity to develop my communication and listening skills regarding various kinds of people, becoming extremely aware of the difficulties children can have with learning and understanding new things, and how these difficulties can be tackled.
I have helped my 11-year-old sister with her maths and English language-related lessons over the years. This has helped me understand children better and sense when they are in need for more training and explanation in particular areas. I have also helped friends' children with their problems, offering help, guidance and advice.

Tutoring Approach:

The key method to learning mathematics is by solving problems and dealing with examples. My approach is to give a clear explanation on the theory and then focus on different types of examples to help children understand things through practice. After several examples, I encourage children to attempt problems themselves at first, then ask questions and give small hints, guiding the child to obtain the correct answer as independently as possible. I give homework for children to practice their newly acquired knowledge, and I check if they've done the homework correctly on the next lesson.

I am a student at Queen Margaret University, studying Speech and Language Therapy. I was born and raised in Greece, where I completed my first degree in Communication and Mass Media. I also have an HND in Healthcare and an HNC in Web Design and the CPE (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English). I am enthusiastic about teaching, passing my knowledge onto people who are willing and/or in need of learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring Greek and Ancient Greek as a part-time job back home since 2008. I have been engaged in preparing high school students for their national finals with quite satisfying results. I have also been tutoring children and adults about to undertake an English as a foreign language exam (IELTS, CPE, etc).

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that tutoring a person creates a special bond with them, based mainly on trust. I adapt my tutoring techniques to fit each individual's needs. I use movies, poetry and literature for people who don't want to be bothered with textbooks. I feel that learning should be an ongoing and personalised process.

Personal Description:
I'm currently studying a teaching degree at University and I received top grades at A Level and degree level. I'm very patient, caring and good at explaining topics in detail. I also received good grades at GCSE level, primarily English and Science. I'm creative and I love to write children's books, my talents in art range from using traditional techniques to digital techniques and I enjoy 3D modeling and 3D animation. I enjoy mentoring and helping others.

I want to help others to achieve their full potential and I love seeing my tutees improve dramatically, it is a lovely feeling to know you've helped.

My specialist subjects are art, creative writing, English and IT. I enjoy tutoring English and writing skills, it is a passion for me that I endeavor to pass on to my tutees. I can help tutees with grammar and punctuation and general writing skills such as, dialogue, descriptive writing, using adjectives, improving article and essay writing....and more. I l also love editing and proofreading.

In terms of art I can help in most areas, I'm very passionate about art and my style is semi-realistic. I can help with drawing and painting skills, perspective drawing, drawing people, drawing animals, cartoons, manga. I'm able to give advice on portfolio preparation and sketchbook presentation, I can also help with art and artist analysis. I can also tutor digital techniques such as 3D modelling, animation and Photoshop skills.

I set optional homework. The tutee can have a go and will be based on what we have done in the sessions.

I have worked as a freelance 3D artist, as a Teaching Assistant, worked with learning disabled students and as a Private/Home Tutor.

Teaching Experience:

I have volunteered with students with learning disabilities teaching them life skills and art/computer skills. I have been put forward as a Learning Mentor at University, to help students with academic writing.

I'm currently working part-time as a Teaching Assistant in Art and Animation and I'm tutoring as a Private/Home Tutor with students of various ages and ability.

Tutoring Approach:

I usually start by finding out what the student finds most difficult and what they enjoy, I write all this down. I also create tutorial videos that the student can access and explanations and tips all placed either online or on paper. I sit with the tutee and go through their work and help them as necessary and find out what they find most difficult. I tend to go above and beyond and I endeavor to help where possible to help the tutee succeed in their subject.

I bring my laptop for some sessions if need be, particularly for IT based sessions so that the student can follow along.

Personal Description:
I'm a graduate from the School of Oriental and African Studies, having completed a BA [Hons] in Religion and Politics. I intensively studied religions from around, philosophy and ethics, alongside politics and law. Whilst studying, I learned the Urdu language to assist me with understanding the culture and politics of Pakistan. This has proven to be highly useful when tutoring - I can work with students whose first or native language is Urdu and teach them English and other subjects. I'm an open minding, caring young woman whose ambition is to develop others strengths. As someone who communicates well and has a flexible working approach, I can teach both children and adults and those with learning difficulties.

Teaching Experience:

TEFL - Teaching English as a Foreign Language
Teaching English to fellow students at university whose native language was foreign to the UK
Mentoring young people with learning difficulties
Teaching English to adults
Teaching the laws of the UK [In particular the welfare benefits system and the social/private housing sector to those wishing to learn about their rights in Britain.

Tutoring Approach:

A patient, calm approach to learning. Pro-active lessons in English with lots of conversational practice. I have come to understand that the best way to teach and learn a new language is to be in a constant state of every day conversation. My lessons are informative yet casual and put no pressure on the individual to learn quickly. Each student has an individual learning style, and some will be quicker than others in picking up English. I work patiently with the student and develop lessons which are tailored to each student.

In terms of teaching advanced subjects, such as religion and politics, my teaching style is detail oriented and literature focused. Each week we will focus on a new topic or text and I will provide various resources for you to look at in your own time. The following week we will dicuss these in the style of a university tutoring session.

I can assist you with any homework or coursework needs and can offer academic advice.
