Personal Description:
I am an experienced maths tutor of over 10 years. I work as a Research Scientist in the daytime these days, although I have lectured at University in the past. I am a registered marker for KS3 Maths.

Teaching Experience:

University Lecturer
Private tutor for more than 10 years

Tutoring Approach:

The key to teaching Maths is building confidence through plenty of worked examples in the student's weaker areas. Through careful teaching a student's confidence can soon be improved when they see that they can do the work they previously thought difficult. I provide detailed notes and homeworks for every lesson. I will also go through exam technique, revision schedules and past papers.

Personal Description:
Before coming into teaching, I worked in the Music Industry as a professional session singer. The work was varied and diverse. I sang with many named artistes and toured on an international level. I also have extensive experience in the recording studio. In 2005, I deceided to 'change direction' and studied Performance Arts, gaining a BA Hons Degree in the subject in 2008.
I studied Shakespeare, Stanislavski and many other drama practioners and methods.
I feel that because of my life experience, I bring a very friendly approach to my teaching. Also, being a 'mature student' myself has added to my understanding of needing alittle 'help' at times.
My approach is a mixture of theory and practical. I like to make sure that my student understands where he/she is approaching the given subject - be it an acting method or a scripted reading.

Teaching Experience:

After graduating with honours, I went on to gain a Post Grad teaching degree (PGCE). I have been teaching singing privately for the past eight years and started teaching drama and performing arts since 2006. Whilst doing my PGCE, I was employed as a part-time lecturer for performance arts at Salford University teaching 2nd year degree students.
I have taught at a private performing schools whose ages range from 6 to 18 years old and at private acting academy that is attached to ITV studios in Leeds.
Because of all my experience, I am able to cover three subjects to any level - drama, singing and Musical Theatre.

Since 2013, I have been tutoring at my home. Please note: I have cats and dogs so be aware of this if you have any allergies.

Tutoring Approach:

On our first meeting, I like to find out just where the student is at in their given subject; what their past experiences are and what their expectations are of having extra tuition. An understanding of their strengths and weaknesses is also important to find out at an early stage so that together, we can plan a way forward.
I am a friendly, patient and easy-going person with a very good sense of humour but I take my teaching very seriously and remain quite passionate about drama and performing arts on the whole.
I always like to make sure that the student leaves my class with full understanding of the work we have done and will ensure that any questions or concerns are addressed before the end of the lesson.

Personal Description:
Bonjour !

I am a French native tutor with 5 years experience of teaching French to pupils of various ages and levels of expertise.

As I am back to France, I deliver now online lessons and convesations through the internet.

What you will need is very simple: a computer with Skype on it, earphones and a good Internet access.

2011 - 2016: group class in a company, Trend Controls, Horsham- A1/A2 level
2012 - 2016: group class in a company, Trend Controls, Horsham- A0 level

CHILDREN
2015-2016: Maitresse for lespuces, Horsham, Early years French Clubs

2012-2013:
- French teacher for Reception (Fundation), Kingslea Primary School, Horsham (Volunteering)
- Private tuition with a 4 years' boy.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that having a native teacher is a huge advantage for students of the French language wanting to perfect their pronunciation, improve fluency and knowledge of both proper and currently spoken French.

My tuition is tailor-made and flexible, according to each pupil's needs and requirements.
I ask the pupil to do homework, as there is no learning without personal work.
Depending on the level, I prefer to follow a book, for example Faηon de parler 1 for absolute beginners. I of course add exercises, explanations, texts and resources to the book.

Please feel free to contact me for any enquiry: I am available for weekly lessons or for a one-off session!

Alors, ΰ bientτt j'espθre !

I taught 2nd and 3rd Form (Yr 7 & 8) drama using existing schemes of work alongside those I created. I taught over 150 pupils per week and as their only drama teacher I was responsible for their reports, three-weekly grades and parent's evenings. The school were so pleased with my contributions to teaching they offered me twice my teaching hours in my second year. I also team taught Yr 9 lessons and I assisted with directing etc in GCSE and A-Level lessons. Alongside academic teaching I led Drama 'actives' after lessons where I created and lead a one hour drama workshop several times a week. Working at Christ's Hospital also gave me the chance to work in a busy theatre environment combining set design, prop making, theatre maintenance, stage management and front of house management. I also directed and co-directed several shows including 'Anything Goes', 'The Crucible', 'Grim Tales', 'Ernie' Incredible Illuciantions', 'Easy Virtue' and 'The Jungle Book'. July 2007 - July 2011 - Pilgrims Language School - Assistant Course Director & Head Of TEFL

• Management (Responsible for a team of staff)
• Lesson Planning & Observations
• Solo Lesson Delivery
• Communication Skills - Working with very young children with no English language

Each Summer I taught English to children aged 7 - 12 from around the world. I lived on site (in a boarding school environment) and I was responsible for teaching, entertaining and caring for the children twenty four hours a day. Having worked for the company for several years I reached the level of Assistant Director and Head of TEFL for the residential course. I was responsible for a team of teaching staff and I ensured they were delivering suitable and stimulating English lessons throughout the course. I also taught a class of my own. As Assistant Director I was a senior part of the management team, ensuring all activity and teaching staff were working happily and correctly. In the absence of the Course Director it was my responsibility alone to ensure the smooth running of our course. I often had to deal with couriers and families and I know how to project a professional, caring, enthusiastic and genuine image. I developed my team work skills, learnt how to thrive under immense pressure and my communication skills were constantly used to their full potential.

Sept 2008 - April 2009 - Kent Youth Theatre - Drama Teacher

• Lesson Planning
• Solo Lesson Delivery
• Team Teaching

I taught children aged from 6 - 16 various theatrical disciplines and dramatic styles. I delivered a three hour workshop weekly. I ensured the children in my care were learning effectively and having a fun and enjoyable time.

March - April 2008 - Point Blank Theatre Company - Drama Facilitator

• Lesson Planning
• Team Teaching
• Behaviour Management
• PR

During a work placement with the Sheffield based theatre company Point Blank I worked with a partner to devise and deliver a cultural drama workshop. I worked as a mentor for two international students who had travelled to the UK to teach school children about their cultures. I taught the two international students how to deliver a successful drama workshop and I helped them shape their own ideas into an educational and enjoyable drama workshop for Primary School children. Alongside this project I also worked with an English partner to create a cultural workshop for deprived children in the city. I contacted The Sheffield Children's Centre and created a relationship with them enabling us to take our workshop to underprivileged children who had never had the chance to express themselves through drama.

June - September 2006 - The Funzone - Playworker

The Fun Zone provided after-school and summer holiday childcare play schemes for children, aged three to twelve. I would lead activities, play group games, prepare and cook the children's meals, clean the rooms, supervise children and be responsible for groups of children on various outings and trips throughout the summer. I learnt how to work with children and how to work effectively to carry out duties such as cooking and cleaning, while making sure the children in my care were both entertained and safe.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly, fun and experienced tutor. I believe a healthy dose of humour and kindness is important when teaching and I am a very professional and hard working person.

Personal Description:
Having successfully completed a PhD in History in 2011 following a BA in History (2005) and MA in Medieval History (2006), I have recently authored a book on Cultural Trends in Medieval Poetry, set to be published by E.J. Brill in 2016. I have tutored English for many years, specialising in language analysis and literary interpretation. My work has involved assisting with Controlled Assessments, prose and poetry analysis and exam preparation.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored students preparing for SATs, GCSEs and A-Levels, and have taught all major texts at GCSE and A-Level including poetry anthologies. I have also taught at Royal Holloway, University of London, where I recently completed a post-doctorate tenure in Politics and International Relations (2012-2015). I am currently an Honorary Research Associate at the University. I have further tutored, most recently, child genius Jasamrit Rahala, Slough.

Tutoring Approach:

I have learnt that what many students often find difficult is language analysis in their prose and poetry texts. It is also what usually deprives them of the higher marks. My tutoring is tailored to ensure that students gain a thorough understanding of texts, and are able to effectively interpret and comment on them. I prepare students for outstanding pieces of controlled assessment work and also help with general English work and exam practice.

Personal Description:
Enthusiastic with a restless intelligence, thirsty for knowledge, always keen to discover more, I am continually fascinated by the interplay between culture and society. I have expert knowledge in English and American Literature, the history of cinema, and the development of western philosophy. I resigned from my post as head of department at a large comprehensive school so that I would have more time to write my book comparing the films of Preminger and Hitchcock. Freed from the administrative demands of a school, I have even more energy and creativity to devote to teaching, and will have a powerfully positive impact on whoever I tutor.

Teaching Experience:

I have over thirty years' experience in a wide variety of educational contexts: at universities in Britain and abroad, in comprehensive schools, FE colleges, language schools and professional training. I have worked as a A Level examiner and moderator for over ten years, so understand exactly what students need to do to impress markers, and can advise on how to avoid mediocrity. I have been tutoring online for two years, and find that the level of concentration in a Skype session is usually higher than in person: the start is crisper, the learning more focused.

Tutoring Approach:

Fun, exciting, inspiring. I love the stimulating variety of one-to-one tuition. Over the years, I have adapted my plans, materials and methods to meet the specific needs, aims and expectations of an extremely wide variety of learners in terms of ability, personality and specialisation. At one end of the scale, I trained Swedish officers in media relations ahead of their deployment with the UN in Bosna, and spent eight weeks one-to-one with the head of personnel of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, improving his presentation skills. At the other end of the scale, I had notable success tutoring a teenager with emotional and behavioural difficulties who had been permanently excluded from school for violence, and was in local authority care. Working with him individually for three hours a day, concentrating on English, Maths and History, I had a very positive and potentially transformative impact. At every point in scale, I treat individuals with respect and dedication, determined to help them achieve their potential.

When contacted, I always contact the leaner back and arrange a meeting. I tend to be quite flexible anc accomodating as I understandsthe difficulties During the first lesson, I try to establish what the individual needs, the learners' goals so that when planning my lesson, I can take these information into account. My approach to tutoring varies according to the age of the learner and his/her prior knowledge of the language or the La ckof it. During my tutorials, I offer a variety of resources and I adopt different teaching style in response to the type of learner. I also set homework as a part of the part of the individual lerning. This is an incentive to boost their confidence in te language they are learning. I really love teaching and sharing my knowledge.

Personal Description:
Hello. I am a teacher with an MA in History, an MA in Creative Writing and a degree in Politics and History. I am also a published playwright and poet. I have been teaching part time in an English department at a University for the last four years as well as working as a private tutor. Prior to that I was a writer in residence in a young offenders institution using creative writing and drama to improve the literacy, thinking and behaviour of young prisoners. In 2014 I ran writing and drama workshops in a women's prison in New Zealand. I have worked widely in youth theatre and have written a popular text book on creative writing. My drama has been produced on stage and radio in the UK, Australia and most recently the US. I've also directed for theatre, most recently at Watford Palace Theatre. As well as a teacher, I have been a youth justice worker and a careers adviser. You can find out more about my work at website and blog.

Teaching Experience:

During the last academic year (2014 - 2015) I successfully tutored a local A level History student. This academic year (2015 -2016) I have tutored A level and GCSE English and am currently tutoring two GCSE History students. For the last two years I have taught creative writing (poetry, drama, short fiction) part time at Sheffield Hallam University; from 2012-2014, poetry at Edge Hill University. I have also guest lectured in History and Criminology.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to initially assess my student's strengths and weaknesses. Then to break the learning curve down into key objectives or units. Then to set a realistic time frame to achieve set goals. Always in mind is the objective of achieving an eventual good pass in the subject. I tutor online using skype as well as in person.

Personal Description:
I am a current Psychology MSc student. I love learning, but I haven't always felt that way. I currently read one book a week, while not so long ago as a student I truly hated reading. I had a tough time with developing relevant skills, procrastination and a very limited mindset while studying for my A Levels. This resulted in many set backs, high stress and low motivation. However, I learned something that has completely transformed my life in every way. I am determined to share this with others, which is why I love working with young people.

While attempting to find a solution to my 'student problems' I developed a fascination with the human brain. I read extensively on the topics of psychology, neuroscience and learning. The knowledge and tools that I have discovered has helped me to overcome many issues that most students face daily. For this reason I have spent the last 5 years mentoring and coaching students of various ages, to empower them and motivate them to enjoy learning as much as I do.

I am interested in politics, mental health, psychology, nutrition, metaphysics and many more.

My hobbies are yoga, meditation and reading. I also volunteer as a Mentor to a young adult.

Teaching Experience:

In my current role as an Academic Learning Coach at a sixth form college I design and teach study skills workshops, lessons and support students one to one. With over 2 years spent researching how the brain learns, I teach using evidence based methods and share all my knowledge about the brain with the students. I have taught over 800 students in the last year and worked with 100s of students one to one.

As a Student Ambassador at the University of Sheffield I have over 2 years of experience teaching study skills workshops.

I have one year of experience tutoring/mentoring GCSE students in a school setting.

I have one year of experience of Mentoring A Level students in Philosophy and Ethics.

I have 2 months of experience teaching English as foreign language.

Tutoring Approach:

Through my work with 100s of students I have developed a holistic approach to identifying and addressing individual needs of every student. I have created an extensive assessment form and a range of reflective activities to get to know the young person, what motivates them and what stops them from achieving their goals.

During an initial assessment I identify the young persons mindset, confidence, study skills, writing skills, thinking skills, stress management skills, organisation skills, exam skills, goal setting skills and personal development skills.

After an assessment we decide on the type and number of sessions. I then work systematically through each area using coaching and mentoring techniques. There will be a small task for a student to complete after each session.

Often it might be beneficial to work together with a parent during certain sessions.

Support that I can offer:

Motivation
Dealing with Procrastination
Managing Stress
Tackling Limiting Beliefs
Revision and Study Skills
Exam Technique
Effective Analysis and Evaluation
Critical Thinking
Note-making
Organisation Tools
Structuring Revision
Improving Concentration and Focus
Academic Writing
Reading Techniques
Philosophy and Ethics

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic scientist with a PhD in mathematical physics, where I published several papers in established credited scientific journals followed by extensive experience as a researcher. I have a passion for disseminating what I have learnt throughout these years. I am innovative and can approach the same problem through different methods which allow me to help students understand even the most difficult concepts.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience in tutoring mathematics and physics at GCSE and A-level standards. My approach has been based on building confidence and encouraging attempts.

Throughout my PhD I also tutored and taught to undergraduates. This involved lecturing, tutoring, demonstrating and grading subjects of maths and science related, supervising physics labs, and developing and delivering lectures to science and engineering undergraduate students.

Tutoring Approach:

Patience for all levels of ability, push all to reach their full potential.

I am an Actor with 15 years of film, television and West End theatre experience. I am 25 years old and have spend the last few years living between London and Los Angeles. I currently work in a mixture of film and television. For my film and television resume, please just use imdb.

Teaching Experience:

During my career, I have taught private lessons in Berkshire area and really enjoyed working with young talent and people that are passionate about acting. I started as a child actress and between filming, I grew up taking private drama coaching, LAMDA exams and every possible drama hobby I could attend!

Tutoring Approach:

Most of my training was on the job and I couldn't have asked for a better way to train. I was very lucky to work with incredible actors and productions. I think being a working actor gives me a slightly different approach to private coaching because training teaches you formal discipline and I took private drama coaching for year, I was always drawn to the practical side; character and story telling.

I would love to work with young people either prepping for drama school auditions, LAMDA exams or just have a passion for the craft and want to learn more. I am still working as an actor so I think I can offer a very fresh and current knowledge of the industry.

Personal Description:
Hi!

After graduating from Oxford University in English Literature, I went on to do what I'd always planned on doing: becoming a musician! I'm a composer, producer and performer, playing several instruments and recording in my home studio, as well as tutoring in both English and Music.

For me, English as a subject has really helped with music, especially with writing lyrics, but also more generally by encouraging me to think creatively, openly, and critically.

Both subjects are really about feeling inspired by creativity, and the electric feeling of making something that is your own, and this is why I'm passionate about both!

Teaching Experience:

(2010 to 2013) English tutorials - During my time at Oxford, as well as being taught myself, I would often have to help students in the years below me with their work, aiding them in the way they approached their studies and wrote essays under pressure.

(2013 to present) Tutoring in music production - I have now taught several students in songwriting and music production, in particular using the recording software Logic Pro. These are lessons I really enjoy - encouraging creativity in a free-flowing and fun way, whilst teaching the music theory behind songwriting, and the complicated techniques involved in recording and mixing music.

(2014 to present) Tutoring drums - For the last 2 years I have been teaching beginners drums to a pupil, helping him to improve his technique, introducing him to new styles of music, and fostering his passion for music.

Tutoring Approach:

English - Doing well at English as a school subject, especially below A-Level, is mainly about following whichever syllabus the student is learning very carefully, and ticking all the boxes required of an essay as efficiently as possible. However, the key to improving at it (as with all subjects), is simply learning to enjoy it more. One to one tuition is perfect for this, because I have time to present the subject matter in a way that each particular student finds useful and enjoyable. I also love to share with students my love of the little things in literature, creative or critical writing that make it worthwhile - the fun in the way sentences and thoughts are put together perfectly. Ultimately, acquiring an enthusiasm for language can help with communicating in any context, whether you're teaching, learning, making new friends or colleagues, or telling a joke.

Music - I play drums, piano, guitar, and sing, but my real strength is in songwriting and producing. If you're looking for a tutor to inspire creative expression, rather than grades based instrument learning, then I'm the tutor for you! I've composed and produced over 200 songs, including music for BBC Radio 4 drama, and I'm especially adept at modern electronic music production. The key to becoming more creative in music, is acquiring a few basic tools that allow you to run with an idea as quickly as possible, without thinking about it, and to learn how to come at a composition from different angles, to prevent frustration or writer's block. Music should be fun and hands on, and it should make you feel proud.
