I have vast amounts of experience working with young people and adults from a range of backgrounds and with a range of abilities. I understand the anxieties and challenges involved in being a learner; as well as teaching I too am a student, studying for a Degree in Counselling, so realise how important it is to give learners support, clear guidance and help them create a structure for their learning. - I am currently teaching A level/Access level Psychology, Counselling Qualifications at various levels & HND courses

- Prior to that, I was Head of Psychology (A level) and Lead Lecturer at Tower Hamlets College - responsible for all aspects of teaching and learning. I have taught a range of syllabi including AQA, OCR & WJEC. I have also taught on numerous C&G introduction to teacher training courses and on part-time PGCE programmes as well as doing a significant amount of one-to-one work as a mentor of trainee teachers. In addition, I was a Tutor Leader, with responsibility for a case load of vulnerable 'at risk' learners.
- Birkbeck, University of London. Here I was a Psychology lecturer for open access adult courses including Foundations of Modern Psychology and Psychological issues in Adolescence. For the later I was solely responsible for developing the syllabus and all resources as well as the delivery and assessment of written work. Again, I am on sabbatical from this post.

- Over the years I have undertaken private tutoring for a range of learners - young people and adults, for both Psychology & Teacher-Training.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching and tutoring style is entirely learner-focused. I aim to empower learners to identity their own strengths and areas for development, but supporting them in this process. I prepare materials that will meet their needs, with an eye always on the syllabus and the skills needed in order to pass any assessment (exams or coursework).

An effective, warm, co-operative and empathetic working relationship is what I seek to establish from the start of the tutoring process. I am a graduate of Oxford University in Engineering and Computing Science. I am fluent in French (as well as English and Polish). From an early age, I had a passion for maths and physics and at school, I imagined how I would envisage teaching those subjects differently. I would often explain things in an alternative way to my friends to help their understanding.
Please note that I also teach engineering topics at university level, usually up to first or second year, depending on the topics.

Teaching Experience:

I have a variety of tutoring experience at both university and high school level (AS and A level). I like to begin teaching with a session to become acquainted with the tutee and their needs.

At Oxford, I studied under the tutorial system which usually meant one professor to one or two students and this taught me to express myself clearly. I often studied one-to-one with a coursemate where learning was achieved through exchanging knowledge by teaching each other.

Tutoring Approach:

I know that every person learns differently and I will be looking to tailor my tutoring style to every student's particular needs. For maths, engineering and physics, I will aim to first establish a thorough understanding of the basics concepts, which is fundamental to making progress in scientific subjects; this will be followed by lots of practice. For French, the key is to be comfortable with the language and I will aim to conduct lessons entirely in French as soon as possible.

Personal Description:
Born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1981, Andreas started his classical guitar studies at the age of seven, under the tuition of Anastasios Amiridis. He completed his guitar diploma at the Municipal Conservatory of Thessaloniki in 2002 receiving the highest mark.

Andreas then continued with his education obtaining a Bachelor and Master's degree in music from Ionian University of Greece. He has also a Postgraduate title from Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria.

There have been many famous and distinguished guitarists that Andreas studied with or attended master classes such as Leo Brouwer, Eliot Fisk, Ricardo Gallen, Jorge Morel, Ε. Αsimakopoulos, Marco Tamayo, Costas Cotsiolis, David Russell.

Andreas has accomplished many goals within his musical career. He has won several National and International contest prizes. He was invited as a soloist in many festivals like the 4th Congress Association of Southeastern Guitarists, Naxos Guitar Festival, Evangelos Asimakopoulos guitar festival in Patras etc.

He has performed as a soloist guitar player as well as accompanied by Chamber music or by Orchestras. One of Andreas career highlights came in October 2008 when he played in Athens Concert Hall with the Athens Camerata-string Orchestra in front of HRH Princess Irene of Spain.

Since 2008 he has begun making his own transcriptions of works by composers of the wider musical repertoire on the guitar. As of July 1st 2010 the release of his first personal CD called "Classical Styles for Today" is ready for purchase.

I also try to use humour to balance out the serious side of teaching, in order to develop a strong working relationship with the person(s) I am helping.
Teaching styles can and will include a variety of techniques, depending on the topic area at that time. I am comfortable working wth learners of all ages, and have worked with those from primary through to Adult learners.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught film and media at Knowsley community college for 13 years, and also taught communication studies in my final year at the colllege. Though it was mainly A level, I have also taught Btec units, and can teach gcse film and media studies, too. I have written one film book, and been published extensively with other journal articles for film and media topics - e.g. "Media Magazine" (English and Media centre) and "Splice" (Auteur publishing) film journal.

I have also more recently taught media at two pupIL referral units on merseyside, working with learners who are no longer suitable for mainstream education. Since 2015, I have been an examiner for A.S. film studies since 2015.
Throughout 2016, I have been a tutor in English, including working on on one with primary pupils (e.g. SATS exam prep, literacy and numeracy work) and also pupils studying foundation English/GCSE/igcse courses etc.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to fulfill the potential academic ability of each student I work with, regardless of their starting point.
Though my approach is obviously a serious one, I can also ensure a light hearted tone when the time is right during any lesson, also. My significant teaching experience means I have applied a range of techniques, and methods of differentiation to get the best out of the learner.Clearly one to one teaching requires a different approach to that of one used when teaching over 20 plus learners.
My aim is to link the teaching the learning to the work the student is currently doing on their academic course, to ensure the the best outcomes for the learner, and build on the progress already being made. I always start by making contact with the teacher/tutor where relevant, and use this as a starting point before beginning my own tuition.

I am currently a fifth year medical student at Imperial College London on the Graduate Entry programme. I have previously studied Biomedical Science at the University of Sheffield, achieving a 2.1.

During my time as a student, my learning approach has changed drastically which has subsequently improved my grades throughout my time at university. Last year my examination results were in the top 10% of the cohort and I have received multiple prizes during my time at medical school - one for the overall best performance in an examination, and another for the third best performance. I would love to share this new learning approach with a tutee and hopefully improve their education experience.

I feel that my experience in education has equipped me with the skills needed to tutor, as well as my friendly and approachable manner. Due to my familiarity with applying to medical school, I am also able to offer assistance to prospective medical students in preparing for the UKCAT entrance exam, personal statement writing and interviews.

Teaching Experience:

For the past year I have been tutoring two students - one in degree level Biomedical Science and the other in Physiology. This mainly involved assisting students in revision for upcoming examinations, as well as guiding these students through assignments they found particularly difficult and medical school applications.

During my time at the University of Sheffield, I was a mentor for first year students joining the Biomedical Science course - this involved helping students academically as well as any other issues they had over the course of the year.

I also have experience working with children from the age of 4 and upwards, both as a play leader and in sports coaching.

I feel that the tutoring approach should be adapted for each student based on their needs and preferred learning style. This allows the student to make the most out of each session and progress in their studies.

In general, it is important to start with the basics and ensure that these are understood well. Tutoring Approach:

I offer two types of tuition: online (text-based) and in-person (verbal).

Online tuition is the most efficient method for written assignment preparation; superior in my experience than in-person tuition since the student is naturally obliged to articulate concepts, issues and questions directly in the written form that they are required to submit their essays, dissertations, and coursework in. This avoids the extra labour of translating verbal communication to written communication and vice-versa, which slows progress. I conduct online tuition via Skype, which is free to download and use.

In-person tuition is, however, better suited and encouraged for verbal assignments, like presentations and language-speaking practice.

Regardless of type, I always apply a needs-based approach to tuition; allowing my students' needs to dictate pace and intensity. I can, therefore, work closely on particular syllabus material in relation to coursework and exams, or take a broader approach to adult and casual learning.

I offer a full range of help on written work, from "brainstorming", essay or dissertation plans, literature reviews, primary-source gathering, all the way to polishing up the final draft before submission. All written work that I proof-read and supervise will be returned with in-line annotations (using MS Word or LibreOffice's comments and tracked-changes) offering detailed criticisms and suggestions on how to improve anything from grammar, structure, analysis, tone, argument and so forth. I also work fast: written work received before noon can be expected back the same day.

During sixth form I was a student mentor where I helped GCSE students with their upcoming exams and acted as a person of support and welfare. I studied law achieving an A*, sociology achieving an A and psychology achieving a B grade.

I'm currently a third year psychology student at the University of Birmingham. During my time at university I have gained an in depth background knowledge in psychology including child and educational psychology. I hope to start a career in child psychology because I love interacting with children.
