Personal Description:
I am a Spanish native speaker who has been living and teaching languages (Spanish,German in London for the past fourteen years. I am outgoing, dynamic and passionate about teaching languages.I love seeing how my pupils progress and are able to communicate in another language lesson after lesson. I love travelling and meeting people from all over the world. In the past I lived in Germany for four years where I taught Spanish to students from all backgrounds, ages and levels.

Teaching Experience:

I am a native Spanish speaker and experienced language teacher with recognised QTS. I have been devoted to language teaching in secondary schools in London for the last eleven years. During this time I have taught all levels (KS3/KS4/KS5) in the three languages (Spanish and German ) preparing pupils for GCSE and AS/A level examinations.
Previously I have also worked in private language schools in Spain and in the in public further education sector in Germany, teaching Spanish and German to pupils of all ages and backgrounds. For the last three years I have been devoted to giving private tuition in the twho languages as well as intensive courses (4 to 8 hours a day) to adults (linguistic immersion).

Tutoring Approach:

As a vocational teacher I take a lot of pride in my work and strive to assure all pupils achieve their full potential. I am therefore used to identifying and meeting the needs of students of differing ability,levels, ages and backgrounds and planning accordingly adapting my methods to the student's needs.
I use the communicative approach trying to use the target language as much as possible as I strongly believe languages are tools of communication and therefore they must be spoken.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate from Oxford University, with a great passion for the subjects I studied: Classics, Modern Languages and Ancient History.

Teaching Experience:

I mainly teach students who are finding their subject hard to get to grips with, or those wanting to push themselves further before an exam or interview. In both cases it is important for me to help my students enjoy the subject, as this is how they will get the most out of it. I use a mixture of the type of teaching they will get in school, along with some informal and extra-curricular elements to enhance their experience of the subject.

I teach students from young ages up to undergraduate level and beyond. My preferred method is using online tutoring via Skype, allowing students to feel comfortable in their own homes without the need to travel.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important thing with private tuition is to have it tailored to your needs, as this is probably what you are missing in school if you find a subject hard. I am very happy to discuss with you what you want to get out of your tuition, and following on from that either to focus on particular things or give a wide overview. I have been in education for 33 years teaching mathematics and computing for many of these years as well as being IT manager at a school in recent years.

I have also tutored on one to one basis successfully for several years in the past and tutored successful many students to success in past 4 years. I often get repeat business where I have taught GCSE and been retained for A-level teaching or taught their brother or sister as well. Tutoring Approach:

I have always enjoyed teaching Mathematics and find that with most students it is a lack of confidence and belief that they can do the subject. I therefore work on building confidence by covering basics and making sure students have a good grounding in these before proceeding to harder topics and the examination level questions.


I will always give feedback on how we are proceeding and advise on the progress I feel student is making when ever required. If a student is not making progress or struggling or doesn't seem happy with the lessons I will advise on this. My name is James and I am an 18 year old student at the University of Chester. I currently study French at university. I am fluent in both English and French as I lived in Geneva, Switzerland for the past seven years. I went to an international school where I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB). I have four younger siblings, two sisters and two brothers, aged between 3 and 10 so I am used to being around children.

Teaching Experience:

As a part of the IB we needed to complete something called Creativity Action and Service (CAS hours), for my service I tutored students in the lower years in French. This ranged from my brothers friends in year 2 right the way through to year 10. I enjoyed my experience of tutoring and would like to further it by tutoring here in Chester whilst at university.

Tutoring Approach:

As each child's approach to learning varies, I prefer to have an introduction lesson where I can talk to the parents and the child to gain a proper understanding of the child's needs, strengths and weaknesses. This is extremely important for the 11-14 year olds and the GCSE students as it will help taylor a lesson that they can benefit from the most. This is also important for the primary school students as the lessons must be fun and interactive to keep them interested, if I can find out what they want to learn then I can plan a lesson that they will enjoy.

I feel that having a good foundation to any subject is the way to go thus this would usually where I begin. If a student has a good understanding of the basics in any subject, more complicated details will seem much easier; like building blocks. After this, a focus on the weaker areas would then be applied to reinforce the student's understanding.

To begin, I start with revision techniques, worksheets and make new, very detailed, class/revision notes with my students. After developing a solid understanding, I begin with exam questions . Every lesson I give them homework. Essentially, what I offer are school lessons that are more detailed and focused than what they receive in school. Through these methods, I am able to thoroughly assess a student's abilities, increase them and hopefully up their grades.

My innovative pedagogies and teaching style and teacher friendly approach makes the concepts easy and passion and love for teaching has made me popular among my students

IMPORTANT NOTES

★ Tuition is carried out at Annabel's own venue. People learn more effectively outside of their home environment and also this enables Annabel to keep session costs down. All tutees are entitled to an introductory session (normally priced) before paying for a block of five or ten sessions. Online tuition is offered for those who cannot travel to the venue.

★ Hourly rates for secondary students increase if Annabel has to do extra preparation, or buy additional materials, and all KS3, GCSE and EFL students will be given an induction before a set price is given (this is never over 23 per hour for KS3 and 25 per hour for GCSE/EFL). As Head of Physics Department and then Director of Studies for two major Independent Sixth Form Colleges I have 35 years experience teaching A level Physics for many exam boards as well as examining. I wrote an A level revision guide for Penguin books called 'Masterstudies - Physics'.
I have taught mostly in small group situations but each year also teach a few individual students.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy communicating the underlying concepts in Physics and interactively building up a full picture of how the subject works for a student. I don't rely on a mathematical approach to the subject but encourage students to develop an all-round ability based on reasoned thinking as well as maths. Hello! If you're looking for intensive revision before an important exam, or long-term assistance throughout the academic year, then look no further. I graduated with first class honours in 2014 having studied Business Economics for 3 years at Nottingham Trent University. Since leaving University I have pursued a career in financial services, which has given me the perfect opportunity to apply many of the skills I developed throughout education to real-world situations. I have had a keen interest in maths and statistics since a young age, demonstrating my ability by achieving an A at GCSE in Maths and an A in Statistics. This was a contributing factor towards my study of economics given how the two subjects interlink, achieving a B at Economics at A level. All of these skills were brought together at University, with my degree heavily reliant on the use of statistics as well as algebra and other important maths concepts. I am keen to help you/your child achieve their maths goals, and I hope that I can use my use of maths in my every day work to show how important maths and economics skills are both academically and for the real world.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my time at school, sixth form and university I was always keen to teach peers both as part of large groups in class and on an individual basis, something I enjoyed because it helped me to develop my own skills and also because of the reward of seeing someone else do well as a result of my help. This has included me teaching a fellow GCSE student at the time of my own studying, as well as more recently helping a colleague with her entrance exams for her PGCE teaching exams. Reliable and qualified Maths Teacher with 20+ years of experience of tutoring individuals and groups.

I care deeply about teaching and learning in general and the teaching of mathematics is a particular passion for me. I am a secondary school mathematics teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). I have completed a BSc in Accounting, an ACCA qualification and a PGCE course. I am currently studying for my MSc Education degree. I have 20+ years experience as a tutor and 10+ years as a teacher. I have also worked for an acounting firm for 5 years and worked as a company director for 7 years.

My first session is provided free of charge and I use this session to understand the needs of prospective pupils. At the end of the session, I have a frank and honest discussion with the pupil and/or their guardians. I use these conversations to listen to the concerns of the pupils and/or their guardians and present an outline of my assessment of the student's areas of strengths and weaknesses. I also suggest a course of action to help the pupil move forward.

Teaching Experience:

I have been providing tuition in mathematics for over 20 years and have been a secondary school Mathematics Teacher for over 10 years. I have tutored A Level, university, AAT, CAT, ACCA, CIMA and CIPFA students in accounting for over 10 years and have 5 years experience teaching professioanl accounting courses in private colleges. I have experience teaching to individual students, to small groups and to classes of up to 35 students. I have helped four year old pupils take their first steps in arithmetic and forty plus year old students finally understand how algebra works. In accounting I have worked with 16 year olds studying accounting for the first time for A Levels or CAT or AAT and 40+ year olds who have working in accounting for a long time and are studying for their professional exams.

I have helped students gain confidence in their own mathematical ability when they have been convinced by the academic system that they are incapable of doing well in the subject. I have also helped higher attaining students to challenge themselves and aspire to become even better. Most recently my Year 7 students were the only gold medallists in the UKMT Junior Mathematics Challenge in my secondary school. They did considerably better than all the other Year 7 students and even all the Year 8 students in the school who sat the same exam.

Tutoring Approach:

During the last two decades I have worked with many hundreds of students and have read research studies from academics around the world on the subject of attainment in mathematics. My own experience is in keeping with all the studies I have read about this topic. The overwhelming majority of students can do well in mathematics provided they have the confidence, the techniques and willingness to work hard. Even after only six to eight weeks of tuition, all the students I have tutored have improved by at least one grade or one level.

I tell all prospective pupils there is no magic bullet or shortcut. To achieve success in mathematics a few things are key: understanding the concept well; understanding when and how to apply it in different situations; lots of practice in applying it in different scenarios and short, regular revision sessions. So my only pre-conditions before I agree to work with any student are: a positive attitude; a commitment to put in the time and effort required to bring about the improvement in their grades; and at least one ninety minute session every week.

It is important to me that students should enjoy mathematics and look forward to their sessions with me. To ensure this I use a variety of different resources to explain concepts to students and am a firm believer in using physical and computer based study tools and aides to complement the standard oral and written tools used to teach mathematics. I also believe in linking the mathematics that we study to the real world to increase students' engagement with the topic and their understanding of its relevance. I am very patient and empathetic to my student's needs and once they develop in confidence I encourage all my students to challenge themselves regularly. Depending on the amount of time available, I usually help students cement their mastery of the foundations of arithmetic and algebra before moving on to establish fluency in statistics, geometry and problem solving.
