As a personal tutor I help learners to unlock their full potential. The environment of a large classroom often hinders results and limits development. I find that different approaches and environments improve results and increase enthusiasm to learn and the ability to work independently.
I aim to tailor tuition for the individual learner. At the intial session we agree a plan of action based on the learner's needs. We continue to review this plan as needs change. The tuition is intended to support study at school or college or individual study (eg distance learning courses). Sessions are informal but focussed and enjoyable. I set homework if required but prefer to concentrate on understanding and practice within the session.

I am 23 years old and I am in my final year at The University of Manchester where I am studying French and Italian. I have spent 6 months in Bologna in Italy, working in a private language school for those wished to learn either Italian or English. I worked as a copywriter for the school website, working in French, Italian and English. I also worked as a conversation tutor to those who wanted to learn English. I am now waiting on my results for a recognised qualification, a C1 CILS exam. In the same year, I lived in Paris for four months where I worked at ELLE, the well known women's fashion magazine, where I used solely French. I am very down to earth and my biggest passion is football, I enjoy a good movie and love a good comedy. If you feel more comfortable meeting in a neutral place, a coffee place or in the town centre that is fine by me. It is flexible. A clean criminal record and can boast a detention-less education!

Teaching Experience:

I now have teaching experience and I have shadowed those who have done this for a job. I have worked voluntarily in a school teaching beginner's Italian. Having already worked as a conversation tutor in a private school, I feel I would excel in giving private lessons, given the chance.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching strategy usually involves engaging the student in critical thinking early on, as I believe this is the key to understanding, and I will never "tell" a student what he should do, or why this is like that, but to direct his thinking so that he/she understands why this is the way it is, and why should he/she act that way. I do not believe in memorisation being the main way of teaching in some countries, as this usually does not prepare people for university and life in general, specially in science and maths. Of course, there's always a degree of memorisation in every subject, but I try to keep it to a minimum. This also depends on every student, and I ultimately asses my strategy individually for each student.

Tutoring Approach:

Each student is treated as an individual and I use different methods of teaching to accommodate the needs of different students. I find that using methods which will develop independent thinking helps students progress.
In the first session I usually prepare a small assessment in order to identify the student's areas of improvement and then address those in the following sessions. I can also help with any particular topics/areas students are struggling at school and help with homework. Approaching exam periods I will provide student with a number of past exam papers to practice and I will go through any question that is not fully understood. My aim is always to raise the achievements of my tutees beyond their own expectations with challenging and rewarding lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

I am an Italian national who has been living in Bristol since September 2012 and having had a long time experience as an Italian teacher for students who have participated in the AFS Intercultural Program, it has not been difficult to insert myself here as a private Italian teacher.
I have a deep understanding of the GCSE program since I am tutoring three English secondary school students who are having difficulties with the Italian language. They lack interest and enthusiasm thus each lesson becomes more difficult but a challenge for me. I am looking for lessons that give them the enthusiasm they are missing and I must say that I am succeeding; sometime I see that the textbook is very dry and for this reason, my personal teaching materials often replaces the book.
My method is based a lot on grammar induction, stimulating conversations with the student, based on body movements for understand the action of the various stages of the exploration of the basic construction of the verb tense. A few years ago I enrolled in a workshop offered at the university about the use and choice of scene Italian films for understand better the Italian style-life and that has been quite useful to my teaching of Italian culture.
In Italy I have had own bookshop where I held my Italian lesson, therefore I know very well many documentaries and lectures mostly (or particularly) on Ancient Rome. Furthermore, I have been a guide in the city of Rome and I'm perfectly capable of organizing a cultural trips.

I have been tutoring academic subjects for the last 6 years, whilst coaching/mentoring from the age of 18.

I have a long-standing interest in helping young people beyond just the curriculum and passing exams. I have a Masters in Positive Psychology from UEL, the 1st in Europe to offer the course and 2nd in the world. This new science focuses on building strengths, whilst promoting good well-being and helping to prevent mental ill health.

Teaching Experience:

My core tutoring experience is focused around the individual Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), English and Mathematics, for both secondary school (up to GCSE-level) and primary school.

Beyond this, previous experience has also extended to:

- Entrance examinations - for primary and second schools (including verbal & non-verbal reasoning)
- UCAS application forms, personal statements, job applications, CV writing, etcetera

I will always be completely honest as to my capabilities/limitations, and will be advise accordingly in certain instances where I do not think I am best placed to help.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student has a different personality, and will have specific ways of learning suited to them. Recognising this, my approach is personalised, friendly and supportive, with the focus on getting the best for the individual student.

My approach is take on the combined role of a tutor and mentor, relating their academic goals to their own day-to-day lives as a whole, and future aspirations of the students that I work with - my four years working in the recruitment field also helps here.

As previously mentioned, I have a deep interest in mental health and wellbeing of students; simply put, the happiest students perform at their best. I feel that there is much value to be added here.

Furthermore, effectively "bridging the gap" as a key point of contact between the student & their respective parents/guardians is crucial; I liaise regularly with parents and guardians of my students, keeping them up-to-date with the tutoring sessions, and how best to encourage positive development of their child.

I have assisted friends and families with all sort of coursework from international business management, Human Resources, health and social care, early years foundation child care courses, Health and social care,nursing and GeneralSciences. One thing about academic exercises is that knowledge is transferable. The skills acquired in one area can be transferred to another subject. What is required is, understanding the concepts, have the structure laid out, have the right evidences to back up one's assertion, provide appropriate examples to support literature and make your literature flow in a coherent and consistent manner using suitable connectives.

There is a first time for everything, try a tutor out and don't get too paranoid until you test one. It is always natural to have hesitations until you become comfortable with someone new.

My experience in working in 6 different schools has enriched my perspective towards education. I have witnessed very good teachers and terrible one's with poor teaching skills. I have worked as a science technician and teaching assistant directly involved teaching lessons when teachers are absent. In my experience the benefits of one-to-one tuition are incomparable. When teaching a student I am able to tailor the teaching to address their specific questions and misconceptions, whilst covering topics at a far greater depth and speed than is possible in a class of 30.

For SPANISH, I have good conversational skills, and believe the best way to learn any language is to submerse yourself in it - so conversation is a great place to start! From doing all 3 levels of exams at school, I can say that this is the one thing that lacked the most. My style is flexible and I am great with younger children (I also have a young sister who I also helped with Spanish). I'm ready to adjust myself to which ever level is needed

In 2015 I participated in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in India. My knowledge was awarded either Gold or Silver Medals in Physics and Chemistry National Olympiads every year. In the Mathematics and Biology National competitions I received honourable mentions. Now I want to share my knowledge with others in maths and natural sciences.

Teaching Experience:

I have 1 year tutoring experience of Chemistry preparing a student for National State Exams which are equivalents to A level exams. I have been also helping 11 years old student with his homework of Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

I tend to explain the basic principles firstly, later I am developing students' s ability to solve problems by themselves starting from easy questions and building knowledge to thinking required solutions.
