Teaching Experience:

I have now been teaching languages for nearly 20 years. I spent 5 years living in Italy working as a language teacher, translator and then Director of Studies of an international language school in Milan, as well as one year teaching English in both Spain and France. My work abroad was varied, teaching language for Business Purposes in multinational companies, schoolchildren, general adult groups and private individuals wishing to learn for personal satisfaction.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring depends very much on the needs of the student, so the content of a primary school lesson will be very different from that of an adult's lesson. I have been learning languages myself for 30 years in a variety of different settings, and can appreciate and anticipate learners' difficulties. I am encouraging and approachable, and make lessons enjoyable.

Hello,

I am 30 years old from the Old Trafford/ Stretford area of Manchester, I graduated in Law from Lancaster university in 2008, I now work in Conveyancing/Property law having previously worked in the Banking/financial field. I am an individual who is quite fond of reading, debating and discovering new things. I would say I am quite lively, not too difficult to get on with, very ambitious but also with an equal dash of a patience for I am a patient individual. Although I am admittedly not fantastic at sports I do play badminton and football from time to time I can play a range of sports but those tend to be the main two. I am a massive fan of education and self development. The colossal impact both areas can have upon our lives is incalculable, as such I tend to be never too far away from reading a book or learning something new to further myself.

Teaching Experience:

I have mainly gained a lot of my early teaching experience through tutoring younger siblings and assisting the junior year students either at college or University with areas which they either required either extra help in or further knowledge. I have further developed this over the last four years and I am confident that the contribution which I have made to those who I have helped has been substantial in helping them to progress onwards to the next stage and beyond. As such I would hope to extend this towards any student who desires to take me on board and to progress until they are ready for the task at hand.

As I have progressed over the years, teaching various and numerous tutees, my own personal & teaching experience has grown exponentially year on year. As such I believe I can approach any teaching scenario and offer the required angle to ensure success as a result of previous experience yet I still take each student on a case by case/ individual basis rather than a blanket approach.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin my approach with an informal but analytical conversation with the student, parent or both in order to assess strengths and areas where we can develop a plan of action or just to establish face to face what it is we will be doing in the time we have. I will aim to take each stage step by step until both you and I are satisfied that we are confident in understanding and explaining coherently the relevant information. I will be professional but understanding as patience dictates, most importantly any work set during the session will be wholly relevant, comprehensible and creative in order to match your needs.

I do incorporate digital media, an interactive projector for lessons and presentations or a whiteboard depending on the subject if a visual element is required in teaching. Presentations can be sent via email at any time as well.

I am young, enthusiastic, and have excellent communication skills. I have lived in London for two years, and in my spare time I enjoy football, playing the guitar and reading about history.

Teaching Experience:

Throughout my academic career I have engaged in mentoring and tutoring schemes. During my A levels I tutored a number of pupils through their History GCSEs, and at university I was a volunteer mentor for first year students, helping them to structure their studies and get through exams during a particularly challenging time.

As part of my PhD programme, I teach three seminars with first-year undergraduates on a weekly basis on a course about the Anglo-American "special relationship" in the twentieth century.

Personal Description:
I am a teacher with over thirty years' classroom experience in both Primary and Secondary schools. I have taught in UK state schools as well as overseas.

Throughout my years in schools both home and abroad I have tutored Primary, Secondary and Adult students as a vocation as well as to supplement my income.

Teaching Experience:

My experience includes 12 years teaching English and History to GCSE and A level in the UK secondary system and eight years teaching the same subjects to the same levels in international schools in Italy, Egypt and Kenya.

During this time I have always had a number of students on my books for home tuition to provide extra help in Primary, Secondary and University level subjects.

My English GCSE students last year all achieved A-C grades and my A level History student achieved an A (predicted C after Year 12) and is now at university. In previous years, my A level History students have never achieved less than a C and in 2014, I had a student who reached A* and is now studying the subject at Exeter University.

Tutoring Approach:

In my long experience of tutoring I have seen the benefits in aptitude and confidence that pupils can gain from one-to-one tuition. In the unique one-to-one situation the teacher can inspire pupils to begin at last to see the relevance of subjects they find difficult to grasp in a high-pressure environment like school.

Once the pupil sees the need to master the subject I take them on to the next stage where they can undertake tasks which build up their confidence. It is also a means for me to ascertain what the pupil's strengths are and to build on them.

The next stage is the slightly more painful one of identifying weaknesses and gauging the pupil's awareness of them and motivation to put them right. Once the student and I have agreed which areas need improvement we use lesson time to extend competence and skills by undertaking thinking and written assignments that allow the student to develop these.

Any homework set will advance and reinforce the skills the pupil has been encouraged to bring to the lesson.

Personal Description:
I'm a well spoken and friendly "science geek" with great interpersonal skills. I pride myself on a relaxed and logical approach to problem solving; whether it be at a post-graduate level or the ability to communicate GCSE and A-Level topics in a relevant manner. Throughout my schooling I saw many classmates struggle with topics because they were unable to make a connection to their interests. Personal tutoring allows the tutee to have access to the information in a tailored manor such that they are able to relate the the problem and make clear logical choices about how to proceed.

I graduated with an MSci in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham last year and I'm currently in my 1st year of a 4 year PhD, also Chemistry. Throughout my course I did extra maths and physics modules and my research currently also depends heavily on all the sciences and maths. For those interested in Uni-level tutoring within Chemistry; my PhD involves a lot of vibrational spectroscopy (inorganic section), and I regularly use all the physics, maths and inorganic chemistry taught at undergrad level.

Tutoring:
I have tutored multiple students in the past, providing entire revision/improvement courses for both GCSE and A-level students as well as help a variety of university students achieving high grades on specific modules.

The tailored approach of private tuition allows students to quickly build confidence in a subject (and exam technique) which results in achieving grades that each student is capable of. I've also offered subject specific tutoring, such as "Quantitive Analysis for Business", a statistical module for Business Management students.

Last summer I lived in a forest for 3 months and each week had a different group of 12-16 year olds to look after and teach them how to survive in the wild. Catching and cooking our food, building shelters to sleep in and different ways to make fire were just some of the topics covered.

Tutoring Approach:

An essential part of great exam grades is an understanding of not only the subject area, but an understanding of the underlying question. Tailoring a teaching style to every student is essential, especially when it comes to science and maths. Although it's possible to pass exams with a "copy and paste" approach, developing an understanding of the subject area will yield much better grades and almost certainly reducing the amount of stress associated with exams.

I'm a 23-year-old graduate of Mathematics from the University of Warwick, with A-Levels in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, French and an AS-Level in English Language. I've excelled academically from a young age and have honed my own skills in learning for as long as I can remember. Curiously, despite being the "smart kid" in the class all my life, that image hasn't held me back socially and my communicative skills have thankfully benefited greatly because of that. I've a lifelong love for learning and trying new things and I often try my hand in spheres in which I shouldn't necessarily succeed, given my hefty mathematics background, but I nonetheless write well, play sports well and I enjoy taking a good photograph.

Teaching Experience:

I've tutored my listed subjects at varying levels, starting from the time I taught a lesson on William Blake to my own GCSE English class. Since then, friends have asked me to help them study for GCSE and A-Level and family of friends or teachers have also benefited from my tutoring. I have tutored several subjects at varying academic levels to students when living in Leamington Spa area of Warwickshire since September 2013 and I now tutor in London and online via Skype since September 2014.

Being without any professional training but instead having many years' experience in tutoring at every level - and having been the brainbox at school to whom classmates turned when they wanted a little extra help or perhaps a second explanation of subject matter covered by a teacher - I'm great at tailoring a tutoring experience to an individual. Teaching Experience:

I have always enjoyed coming alongside young people and helping them come to understand and to apply this understanding to practical situations. That said, I have had limited formal teaching experience but much more one on one tutoring in different subjects. One of my pupils went on to be a military helicopter pilot which needed a high level of mathematical ability that I believe I helped him to achieve.

Tutoring Approach:

With both Maths and Physics if there is a lack of good foundational understanding then building on weak foundations will lead to problems. So a key to good tutoring is the identification and strengthening of these weak areas. Then the confidence of the pupil can be rebuilt so they can believe they can do what is required. With this approach I believe the pupil will not only do well in these subjects but will also be able to apply them to life in general.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching German and EFL for more than 30 years from beginners to advanced level. I used to teach German to GCSE and A level at what used to be Plymouth College of Further Education as well as EFL from Cambridge KET to Cambridge Proficiency. In addition to that I have prepared many students for the IELTS exam and I have taught Business English and English for Academic Purposes too. Tutoring Approach:

I believe that it is essential to establish the needs of each individual student so that a tailor-made course can be designed for that particular student. That does not mean that my approach is inflexible, however - if one approach to teaching does not suit the individual learning needs of the student, I will endeavour to teach the student in a way that they are happy with and which will lead to the best possible results.
As a teacher of foreign languages I very much favour the communicative approach but I am also more than willing to teach grammar as this also plays an important role in language learning. As languages are meant for speaking I place a great deal of importance on oral work - particularly at GCSE and A level - but once again, the needs of each individual learner are paramount. For oral conversation, I am happy to teach using SKYPE.

In teaching English as a foreign language I follow the communicative approach. This means plenty of communication between the student and tutor, rather than spending the whole lesson working through grammar exercises.

My lessons are student centred, which means that each lesson is about the student. My materials are carefully tailored to the individual student and not a 'one text fits all' course book. I try to make my lessons relevant to my student's needs, for example, if you are a chef I base my lessons on cookery; if you work in a shop I base my lessons around retail; and if you are studying for IELTS or residency, I will tutor you for that. I am a current Psychology MSc student. I love learning, but I haven't always felt that way. I currently read one book a week, while not so long ago as a student I truly hated reading. I had a tough time with developing relevant skills, procrastination and a very limited mindset while studying for my A Levels. This resulted in many set backs, high stress and low motivation. However, I learned something that has completely transformed my life in every way. I am determined to share this with others, which is why I love working with young people.

I have done for one year of maths teaching in advanced level to the students who are preparing for competitions in my home-country(Azerbaijan). Tutoring Approach:

One-to-one tutoring is the best technique I have observed so far. Generally, I am preparing initial sessions to be more like talking to them, I try to know my student from educational point of view (e.g. what is their background knowledge in certain subject). During my first session with my students I note down what they think their problems are and then decide what are the real difficulties of them. Starting from next sessions I prepare topics to be taught from zero or should be revised, and bring more examples related to them.
