Personal Description:
I am a native speaking qualified tutor with more than 10 years' language training experience. I worked for the University and secondary schools and I have been involved in one-to-one tuition for well over ten years. Furthermore, I have first hand experience of running businesses, which helps me better understand the needs and requirements of my business clients.

I have authored a Russian language textbook for Elementary and Pre-Intermediate levels - "The Story Sensation: for learners of the Russian language (and not only for Guadeloupians!)", available on Amazon, at Foyles and other major book-stores (you can check readers' reviews on Amazon).

Qualifications: MPhil in Linguistics, St Petersburg State University. MA in Political Economy of Russia, University College London (School of Slavonic and East European Studies). Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and the Institute of Directors, member of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce and International Association of Russian Language Teachers.

I mostly teach in the City of London, Canary Wharf and Mayfair as well as on-line (my current students are based in Luxembourg, Paris, and Moscow). However, we can discuss it, if you live outside these areas.

I offer a 10% discount for students, seniors, UCL staff and alumni, members of the Vegetarian Society.

Teaching Experience:

More than 10 years' experience of private tuition of foreign languages. I used to work for the University and secondary schools and I have been involved in one-to-one tuition for a number of years.

I have authored a Russian language textbook for Elementary and Pre-Intermediate levels - "The Story Sensation: for learners of the Russian language (and not only for Guadeloupians!)"

My current students include, among others:
- private bank manager (Luxembourg),
- director of the wealth management company (Moscow, Russia),
- partner of the wealth management company (London, UK),
- account managers from a private Swiss bank (London, UK, and Paris, France),
- barrister (London, UK),
- head of department at a financial advisory company (London, UK),
- trader at a major international bank (London, UK),
- director of an investment company (London, UK),
- TV journalist.

Finally, I have just finished tutoring an A-level student who enjoys learning languages and has got particular passion for Russian. He is now a student at the University of Bristol. Two other students (University of Westminster and University College London) have just finished both their course with me and their University course.

Russian course for Complete Beginners starts on 24th April (Wednesday) 7-9pm. Eight weeks' course in a mini-group of up to five people. The price is 259. Discounts for students, over 65s and members of The Vegetarian Society.

Tutoring Approach:

I can be of use for both children and adults and offer a number of courses, including Business Russian, conversational classes, assistance with grammar. ON-LINE language classes are now available.

My associates can also help you with English/French/Chinese/Italian to Russian translation and interpreting.

My recent students' testimonials say:

I've been learning Russian for over two years now and I've tried out a number of different Russian teachers from different companies. I can say that, without a doubt, Ignaty Dyakov has been by far the most outstanding teacher. His lessons are professional and extremely fun at the same time thanks to his friendly nature and good sense of humour. Most importantly - for me at least - he will immediately hone in on any problems you have and help you solve them (often without you even realising!). Ignaty is knowledgeable and very well informed about Russian culture; the Russian I have learned with Ignaty has always been accompanied by interesting cultural insights. Finally, I am always surprised at how impeccably punctual Ignaty is given the horrors of the London transport system!
- Richard P.

Ignaty is an excellent tutor of Russian language with very professional approach. He makes every lesson very interesting, bringing his sense of humour and outlook on the topics discussed in conversations. On a personal level I have found Ignaty is very diligent, reliable, willing to help and assist with founding out any information related to learning Russian language or exploring the Russian culture, art or ways of living. Ignaty has been an absolute pleasure to deal with right from my initial email to discuss my lessons till current date and I have no hesitation in recommending him to any individual or company who is interested in learning Russian language.
- Martina

I have been having private Russian Tuition from Ignaty for a period of 4 months during which I received outstanding education from a highly qualified, intelligent and pleasant individual. The lessons were result focussed, fun and interesting. Besides learning the language itself, I also learned a lot about the actual Russian culture. I can highly recommend these language courses to anyone who requires to be conversational in the Russian language in a short period of time.
-Peter

Taking this course with Ignaty has provided me with excellent grounding in the language and has been a highlight of the last couple of months. He has the patience of a saint (!) and is exceptionally knowledgeable. It's incredibly helpful that Ignaty has such extensive multi-lingual capabilities. His enthusiasm and knowledge has inspired me to explore the Russian culture further to the extent that my next holiday is being spent in St Petersburg. Thanks Ignaty!

Personal Description:
My 13 years experience working as a Principal Examiner included responsibility for writing your A Level and AS Psychology exam papers for a major exam board; awarding grades to students and writing the all important examiner reports. In this respect I have a true insight into how Psychology exam papers are set and marked having supervised the marking of thousands of exams since 2002. I was also part of the team that wrote and produced the new A Level Psychology specifications for 2008 and 2015.

I have been providing training and support to staff and students since 2003 and visit numerous schools and colleges regularly especially during the key revision season. I am a regular speaker for Keynote Educational Ltd and also run successful staff and student Psychology webinars for Resourcd.com

Teaching Experience:

I have nearly 20 years teaching experience and have taught and examined for both AQA and Edexcel specifications at A level and GCSE. I have written articles for Psychology Review and my new revision guide for A Level Edexcel Psychology was published by Hodder on March 31st 2017

Tutoring Approach:

Whether its simplifying content or more importantly understanding what the examiners want then look no further.
My sessions are always dictated by the needs of the student and we will typically focus on building confidence in understanding and answering exam questions. Getting your written abilities to match your verbal abilities is key as so many students know the answer but just cant write it down in the exam in order to get marks.
Exams have changed significantly so there is less guessing what's going to be on the paper and a heavier focus on applying knowledge to questions. I will challenge you to tackle these and other types of questions so you are fully prepared for them.
I always say 50% of your grade in August will be down to the correct type of revision and the other 50% is down to how you interpret the exam question, together we will successfully tackle both. I look forward to working with you, either face to face or online via Skype, and helping you achieve something special.

I am a TEFL teacher with a university degree (Music) and am from London. In my day job I work in a music company. I also teach English to foreign students in London, having worked for 2 years in British Council accredited language schools both in London and Portugal. I am a very friendly person and really enjoy teaching any age group.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught TEFL in language schools for two years, and have given private tuition in English and in Music for 9 years for all levels of learners. I have taught English at all levels from Beginner to Advanced, plus Business English and conversation classes. I have taught children as young as 6, all the way up to adults, and vary my teaching method according to the age group I am working with.

I have a Music degree and play and teach the Recorder, as well as giving lessons in music Theory. I used to work for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in the syllabus department, so have great insider knowledge about music exams. Additionally, I also used to mark Theory papers, so know what examiners are looking for.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to be as learner-centred as possible in my teaching. First I will conduct a needs analysis to assess a potential student's level and to identify the areas in which they would like to improve and their preferred learning methods. I encourage my students to actively participate in my lessons - it will not just be me talking. I aim to make lessons fun and engaging, as I believe that students learn more when they are interested in the material given.

Personal Description:
I've had a passion for Maths from as far back as I can remember and my philosophy is that if you enjoy a subject, then you will become good at it. I came to live in Poole after spending most of my early life in the Portsmouth area. I love travelling and walking as well as most sports. My qualifications include a degree in Mathematics and a PGCE in secondary education. I am willing to come to your home or Skype - whatever is the more convenient or appropriate to suit the needs of the tutee. In terms of travelling to you, I am prepared to drive to your home free of charge, up to 7.5 miles away.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in numerous secondary schools in both the independent and state sectors during the past sixteen years. I currently teach at Poole Grammar School where one of my roles has been Manager of the Dorset Further Maths Centre. A significant part of this role involved teaching a range of students many A level modules in their own schools where they had limited A Level/ Further Maths provision. As a result, I am very familiar with teaching all board specifications at both A Level (including Further Maths) and GCSE. I can provide tuition for C1-4, FP1, S1&2, D1&2 and M1 plus any aspect of GCSE. I have an excellent record for gaining outstanding grades for my students at both A Level and GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in building a good relationship with my students so as to understand their needs and aspirations. I am patient and approachable and always encouraging. I love my job as a teacher and hope to enthuse my tutees as much as possible. I hope to impart my knowledge and passion of maths to whoever wants to learn and improve. My approach to tutoring is a traditional one, particularly when it comes to the teaching of Latin and Greek, which is taught by composition into the language from English and through the reading of original texts.

I ask for a tutee to try their hardest - as long as they do, they will be met with a tutor who will give their all in order to help them achieve their goal, a tutor dedicated to his teaching and his pupil.

I also incorporate modern methods into my teaching, including the use of ICT and the latest examples of Digital Humanities e.g. The Perseus Project.

Personal Description:
Hi, my names Tom and I am a history graduate from the University of York,
I have loved history all of my life and I really want to pass that on to other people, which is why I would love to be a tutor,
I am really comfortable tutoring history, having attained an A* at GCSE, an A at A Level and a 2:1 BA degree at the University of York and I know that I am able enough to do a very good job,
Spanish was another subject that I enjoyed and which I am also really comfortable tutoring, having attained an A* at GCSE and having previously taught Spanish in a school in York,
I have a CRB Check available, which was completed before working at the aforementioned school in York.

Teaching Experience:

I taught Spanish voluntarily at Tang Hall Primary School, York as part of the University of York's Project Babylon,
Besides that I am quite inexperienced, but I am confident that I would be a good tutor.

Tutoring Approach:

I would try to make the tutoring as interesting as possible by incorporating a range of activities as well as using the subject's textbooks and relevant materials,
In particular, I believe that flash cards work really well, therefore I would create flashcards with the student, before revising using them.

I'm a qualified French and English teacher and hold an honours degree in linguistics.

I am really interested in child development and love observing what makes children tick when they are learning and fully engaged in something they enjoy. I try to replicate this in all of my lessons.

In my spare time I like to spend time with my children, read, make things and chat with my friends.

Teaching Experience:

One year in a successful Shropshire school teaching English and French

One year in a challenging Wrexham school teaching English

One year in a Shropshire school teaching French and English

One year in Modern languages departments in Telford and Shropshire

Several smaller placements in schools across Cheshire

Six months working on a one-to-one basis with pupils finding it difficult to engage with their school work

Tutoring Approach:

People learn in a variety of ways (verbal/visual/tactile/abstract) and as such I believe work should be adapted to each learner to match the way they learn best.

Personal Description:
Hi,

I have many years teaching experience at every level from Key Stage 3 to post graduate.

During these years I have become acutely aware of how valuable it is for young learners to progress to secondary education with a good grasp of key skills, particularly in Maths. Since retiring from full time teaching I am focusing on working with primary age students to help them develop these skills.

Teaching Experience:

Maths teaching in a number of secondary schools at GCSE level + Key/Core Skill Numeracy at college level.

Tutoring Approach:

I see Maths as a language. In simple terms the language of numbers (let's not get too bogged down in the tricky stuff like algebra at this stage). As with all languages, if it's one you're familiar with it's pretty straightforward. If it's a 'foreign' language it can be a complete mystery.

Unfortunately all too many young people progress to secondary school feeling uneasy about their understanding of Maths and therefore develop a mistrust or even fear of the subject. The longer such reservations are held the more deeply ingrained they become. A fear of Maths developed while in primary school can hold learners back at all subsequent levels.

My aim is to help young learners develop a positive and confident relationship with the subject at the earliest possible age.

I am a practicing artist and tutor specialising in Oil Painting and Drawing, as well as Watercolour, Pastels, Acrylics, Mixed Media, Collage and Printmaking.

My work involves mainly painting using oils and my interests lie in nature as subject matter, depicting natural form such as flora and fauna. My work also examines the relationship between people and nature and how we interact with the natural world surrounding us.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching adults in an informal setting for various learning providers including the Workers' Educational Association for 9 years. I also teach regular painting workshops based at my studio. Although I have experience in teaching a variety of crafts such as sewing, textiles and jewellery making my main area of expertise is Art, Drawing and Painting.
I have studied various painting techniques and hold regular workshops based on a variety of styles and approaches.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in creating a safe and welcoming learning environment for students in order to enable development of knowledge and skills in a relaxed manner. Much emphasis is placed on confidence building through gradual skill development and nuturing of individual artistic style and voice. I am a big believer in tailored learning and am happy to work closely with students in order to help with improvement of very specific skills.

I am a very practical and techniques based art tutor, therefore if you are looking for help with the improvement of drawing skills and how to achieve well composed finished paintings, I can help.
