Personal Description:
I am a friendly and approachable teacher and have high expectations. I try to help and encourage my students to reach their potential and enjoy their time with me.

I am aware of any syllabus change and have attended courses run by the OCR, Edexcel and AQA examination boards to update myself.

From September 2017 I will be studying for a Masters in History through the Open University.

Teaching Experience:

I taught in a secondary school for over six years until 2006 and since this time have been tutoring full time. I have experience across the 10-18 age and ability range. I am experienced in working with lower ability children, including those who have a Statement for Educational Needs.

However, I now mainly concentrate teaching GCSE and A-level:
I teach both English Language and Literature up to GCSE. I also teach History at both GCSE and A-level. I am experienced and skilled in exam preparation.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient and caring teacher and before I start with the lessons I discuss with the parent and the pupil their subject weaknesses. I also discuss what they are learning in school not only to give me the ability to help them understand the subject, but also to enable me to know what they want to achieve through my teaching. I give homework and then discuss with the pupil the different ways that they can make improvements so that they gain confidence with their studies. In certain cases I do not give homework as the schoolwork might be heavy.

After each lesson I always make time to talk to the parent to discuss what I have taught their child and tell them what homework has been set. This way the parent, pupil and myself can give immediate feedback.

I have excellent people skills and try to build a good relationship with my students so that they enjoy their lessons.

Personal Description:
I graduated from Coventry University and speak fluent Mandarin and English.

I studied broadcasting while I was in China and I worked as a presenter part-time for a radio station, as such My Chinese pronunciation is very clear and standard. I also studied some Japanese, which gave me a grasp of learning and developing a new language.

I got first class in the National Standard Chinese Level Qualification which shows I have near perfect pronunciation. Pronunciation is very important in Chinese and thus it is vital that the person who is teaching you has good pronunciation or you will pick up their mistakes too.

Teaching Experience:

When I was in China, I tutored some primary school aged students English to earn extra income. This has given me a base in teaching languages and so I have a good understanding of the differences in the languages such as grammar, word composition, and the etiquette.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is very much tailored to the students needs.
For short-time learners, I will focus on basic common expressions, useful tourists sayings and culture differences. For long-time learners I will work on everything from grammar to hand writing to allow the student to communicate naturally in in Chinese.

Personal Description:
Hi

I have just finished a PhD in maths at Newcastle University so it goes without saying I'm enthusiastic about both maths and physics. On top of this I have a wide variety of interests, and this allows me to find ways of explaining things that the people I'm tutoring can relate to.

Teaching Experience:

While studying at Newcastle I've taken many tutorials for students taking courses in Maths. For the past 6 years I've also worked in a tutoring drop-in centre where any student at Newcastle University can come to ask maths questions. I've always enjoyed this work as over the course of a day I can be asked how to apply maths to many problems from mechanical engineering to fine arts!

I have also done a lot of private tuition of A-levels for all of the major examining boards. I have often got this work from referral of satisfied customers.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a relaxed and friendly tutoring style.

I usually find students learn best by working through questions or examples, but I am also happy provide teaching of entire subjects from scratch. So if you're having trouble understand the material needed to pass an exam/assignment or wanting to learn about a subject from start to finish I will be able to help.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced sociology tutor and proofreader having taught in the sociology department at the University of Warwick for four years and also for a short while in the School of Languages and Social Sciences at the University of Aston. (I can also tutor at this level in modern history, politics and international relations). I have BA in sociology and politics from Oxford Brookes University and an MSc in social science research methods from Sussex. I have also recently and successfully completed my doctorate at the University of Warwick. In addition to my university work, I have tutored for a private agency (where I held an advanced CRB certificate) at A-level in sociology, politics and modern history. I have a good record of helping A-level students to achieve the grades they require for a place in higher education and I have continued this success whilst tutoring independently in the north east where I have now lived for for the last year.

At A-level I am happy to help with essay writing and subject research and prep for exams. Please contact me early in your studies though (early in the academic year, as early intervention has greater rewards...).For undergraduates, I can offer advice on essay and dissertation construction and also on writing style and format. Additionally, I can help to formulate ideas for research projects and can proof read long or short drafts.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored at A-level and taught at undergraduate level for 7 years.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is simple: I help to give students the skills and knowledge they require to achieve their goals in education.

Personal Description:
I spent two years studying physics at Oxford University then transferred to Lancaster University where I achieved first class results in my first year.

I am aspiring to attend graduate school for mathematics or a mathematically related field.

Having excelled at mathematics in school, achieving several perfect scores in my A-Levels and achieving a Top Gold Award in the British Physics Olympiad, I am confident in my knowledge up to A-Level mathematics and physics and am well equipped to help struggling students.

For students looking to apply to Oxbridge/Imperial/UCL/Warwick (etc.), I am happy to help with STEP/PAT preparation.

Teaching Experience:

I was a mentor for several students during my A-Levels and would also take part in PAT revision classes for Oxford Physics applicants. This involved explaining solutions so that others may learn from them (and also having solutions explained to me).

One of my mentees obtained an A grade in their physics A-level, improving from a C grade, allowing them to pursue a degree in medicine.

Tutoring Approach:

My focus starts with making sure the student has a strong understanding of the underlying theory and how it was discovered/derived. Then we may move onto a variety of problems to solve, gradually moving upwards in complexity and making sure to sample all problem types to ensure we have covered all potential exam questions.

Once the student has covered a topic, we will revisit it and summarise it 2-3 times in the coming months to ensure long term understanding and memorisation. This is in addition to having moved on to the next topic.

I am also well read around maths and physics and have some experience with the current career climate and internship opportunities.

Personal Description:
I like helping people improve their maths and Spanish skills.

I enjoy maths, it can be a fun subject to learn (yes really!). I find interesting and fun ways to explain how maths works and then get the pupil to work through questions and problems until they know each step very well.

I specialise in teaching maths at A level and first year university level. I also teach GCSE level.

Personal Description:
Playing the Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele, Banjo and Harmonica and creating traditional Fine Art have been and are a major part of my life. Much as I would have very much liked to do, I never had the opportunity to become a Professional Performing Musician or a fully Professional Fine Artist . I have performed in public of course, and held exhibitions, but very rarely on a professional/paid basis. I have been a guitarist for over 45 years and an artist for 23 years

I studied art at the Thanet Schools of Art & the Ravensbourne College of Art and Design (the same College David Bowie went to)
for two and a half years. After that I had a twenty two year absence from art.

A change came in 1992: It was during a period of Long Term Unemployment. Whilst signing on at my local Job Center, I volunteered to go on an "Employment Action Course. In a sense this was a form of working for your benefit and was paid an extra 10 per week on top of Job Seekers Allowance. Hopefully this would have lead to work prospects, ideally in Art or The Arts. I had to report to a work placement provider who asked me what skills I had, to which I said "Art" and was assigned to a local Community Arts Center based in Gillingham Kent and appointed as a publicity designer and resources worker.

Whilst in my publicity artist role I was introduced to the then K.C.C Arts Promotion Officer Jim Shean who took interest in my art work and arranged an exhibition hire space without charge at my local library, the event was covered on Radio Kent's "Scene & Heard" Program. I also contacted the local junior school where my children attended and made a proposition if I could exhibit there. In return the headmaster asked my to come into the School twice a week and teach the children art, this featured in a local press article.

Over the years from 1992 to date I have held numerous small one man exhibitions in the Medway Towns and a little further afield and have manged to sell some (just enough to pay a few bills). In the last year or so I have been a little inactive in my art but hope to resolve that soon.

Teaching Experience:

16 years freelance one to one teaching of Guitar - Mandolin - Banjo - Ukulele - Harmonica and Basic Keyboard
Currently a Children s reading assistant for the Beanstalk Charity Project

Tutoring Approach:

Being a music teacher has at least allowed me to put my love of music to a measure of professional application, perhaps to make up for the lost opportunity and time. Being paid is a motivation, but far more importantly teaching others to play and create music is much more enjoyable, I have often gone overtime on my lessons and never charged extra. Also to be considered is the experience gained over many decades of musical struggling, mistakes, embarrassing moments during performance and how to overcome them that I can impart to my pupils. I also look forward to the pupil making sufficient progress so that I can have the pleasure to "Jam" with them.

I formed my first band at 15 and have been teaching, playing and song-writing in bands ever since, playing in venues such as Ronnie Scott's, Dingwalls, The Marquee, Chinnery's, 100 club, playing alongside artists such as Finley Quaye, Boy George and the Brand New Heavies. My band Sentivo was on Long Lost Brother Records (Jamiroquai, SIA) making recordings for producers such as Mickey Most, Joey Negro and Mark Knight. I studied Music/Guitar Theory at a college in London where I gained my Music Diploma. I am now currently teaching guitar part time at a college in Southend and teaching private and one to one guitar lessons whilst playing, singing and writing music & lyrics for my new band

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced and qualified Guitar tutor having achieved a Diploma in Music/Music Technology and have also completed a level 4 PTLLS teaching qualification. I am currently working at a college as a Guitar Tutor which I thoroughly enjoy and has given me great teaching experience and teacher training especially in teaching in groups and also one to one. In the last 17 years I have been tutoring and teaching privately which has given me great confidence and experience in teaching on a one to one basis. I also hold a current DBS certificate. I teach a number of different styles ranging from blues, rock'n'roll to rock, funk, jazz and soul Please give me a call or email to book a lesson whether you are an absolute beginner or want to improve or build on the level you already are.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to keep teaching relaxed and fun and like to get the student up and playing straight away, especially if you're a beginner as it's important to come away with something gained to boost the confidence and enthusiasm so you feel like you have achieved something solid and want to carry on playing. If you're already playing then I like to build on your skills and strengths and also focus on any weak areas to make you the best player you can possibly be. It is your lesson so you choose what you want to learn whether it is chords/progressions, melodies, scales/modes or songs or maybe tools to improve your own compositions and song writing. I can teach from my home and have a dedicated music room which is specially set up in a relaxed and musical environment to inspire the creative musician.

Personal Description:
I am currently partaking in a gap year. I am a hard working and motivated person that has a lot of experience working with children in both schools and on holidays camps. I have a very calm nature and a lot of patience. I pride myself in being able to communicate well with all individuals, as well as being very creative. I am constantly looking of new ways to teach, and to learn myself.

Teaching Experience:

In recent months I completed my A Levels. For AS I recoieved an A in geography. Then for A2 an A* in business, A in religious studies and B in psychology. I have previously tutored other young children aged 10 and 15 in both English and Geography. I have also assisted to teach religious studies (philosophy and ethics) to GCSE and A Level students. I have a natural flare for teaching and working well with children. Due to just finishing both A Levels and GCSE's in recent years, I am very experienced in the current system and how to get th best marks.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is a calm but disciplined method. I try to use creative ways to help teach different topics to make hem more memorable. I try to focus on repeating the important aspects of the course, along with a lot of exam question practice in maximise success. I understand the importance of repeating information and covering all potential questions to be fully prepared for exams.

I use a lot of visual techniques and formats when teaching as I believe this is one of the best methods when learning a subject. Especially a combination of images, coloured texts and videos.

Personal Description:
I am currently a student at the University of Birmingham studying a Materials Engineering Masters Degree. I have 5 A's and 5 A*'s at GCSE; A*'s at in all Sciences (Chemistry and Physics) and also Maths. I hold A-levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. I can teach and help with any of these. I am very keen and young but can still provide a quality service (thanks to working in the catering industry).

Teaching Experience:

I have no formal teaching experience but I have tutored my sister at GCSE (where she obtained A's in Maths, Chemistry and Physics with my help) and I am currently helping her with AS/A-Level Maths.
I have helped coursemates on my course with maths and physics (as some have transferred and never done this before).

Tutoring Approach:

I am laid back but very keen and only want the best for my tutee's. If something is not understood I will commit to revisiting it and going over it again and again for them until it all makes sense. I can move at a slow or fast pace and am very adaptable to the tutee's needs and requirements.

Personal Description:
I am a former primary and secondary school teacher, mainly teaching all the science subjects. I have tutored my son and daughter in the science subjects straight from KS3 through to A-level, especially in biology. Therefore, I have gained extensive knowledge of the sciences, covering a range of exam boards, and also experienced first hand the exam technique needed to achieve the target grade. I would like to transfer this knowledge of biology and revision methods to others who need it, and I am committed to encouraging students to achieve the best grades possible.

I am extremely familiar with the GCSE biology syllabuses and regularly remain up to date with changes in specification and exam dates.

I can also do Maths tutoring for those at the primary school level, and Hindi language tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

Currently tutoring multiple students in primary level maths and english, and also GCSE Biology
Former primary and secondary school teacher

Tutoring Approach:

I like to take an interactive approach to the lessons, where topics are taught through quizzes and questions, which allows me to identify topics the student might find challenging. I explain subjects comprehensively, and often recommend making revision posters as a good way to remember a lot of information, especially with GCSE level subjects.
I also enjoy tutoring younger children of infant and primary level in literacy and numeracy.

Personal Description:
Hello I'm Yesica, Im 29 years old and Im Spanish. I love teaching so I studied a master in teaching. I do adapt the lessons to your needs so you improve your Spanish at your own pace.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor for more than 8 years, tutoring children from 4 to 16 years old, helping them with all the subjects that they needed.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring depends of your needs. It isnt the same teaching a child or an adult, so I can play, sing and draw with children and have a more serious style with an adult.
The content is completely adaptable too. Just tell me what are your interests and Ill plan the class for you
