Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified English teacher, having studied English at Queen Mary University of London (BA hons 2.1). I completed my PGCE at The University of Nottingham in 2010. In 2014 I was awarded a Masters in Education from the University of Nottingham and currently I am Second in Charge of English at Reigate Grammar School in Surrey.

I am fully CRB certified.

Teaching Experience:

Primarily, I have taught in schools in the Midlands, London, and Surrey from KS3 to KS5 and an mow in my sixth year of teaching. I have taken roles as GTP Mentor, NQT Mentor and Head of Work Experience for KS4 and KS5. Furthermore, I have taught English as a second language privately for just over four years and tutored GCSE and AS/A-Level students. I have knowledge of the iGCSE, AQA and WJEC exam boards for GCSE English Literature and Language and AS and A-Level Literatre. I am an examiner for the AQA and iGCSE English Literature paper. I also have experience tutoring the entrance exams for independent schools.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to ensure I teach the skills required of a subject rather than memorising facts. My lessons take the form of discussions, indicidual or group tasks, feedback, research and exam skills. We will build vocabulary, develop syntax and grammar and use past papers and model answers to develop written, comprehension and verbal skills.

I can provide print-outs, past papers and academic literature necessary for the subject.

I am also able to aid with editing and proof reading essays, CV writing and application forms.

Personal Description:
I have retired to this area where I enjoy living near the sea, and walking. I volunteer at our local theatre/cinema and sing in the choir at our Church in Southbourne. I have three grandchildren, two in London and one in USA and spend what time I can with them, using skype to talk to my family in USA. My husband and I both enjoy gardening.

Teaching Experience:

I am an Oxford graduate with more than 20 years of teaching experience in schools including A level maths and further maths (pure, statistics, and with a particular interest in mechanics). I have also given private tutoring to a large number of pupils from SATs to A levels. Many of those I have taught have returned for help with further exams, or have sent their friends to me, so most of my pupils have come through personal recommendation.

Tutoring Approach:

It gives me great pleasure to help those who struggle with maths to gain confidence and even come to enjoy the subject as well as helping the high fliers get their A grades. I expect pupils to work hard, but think it important to give work that is within their capability so the pupil can feel the achievement of getting things right.

Personal Description:
I am a native of Italy who has lived in the UK for 22 years and has well adapted to the British system of education, still bringing in some of the flavour of her own mother country in connection with love and curiosity for languages, cultures, and contacts with people and their cultures through the activity of teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have been in the field of teaching languages (Italian being my special subject) for 21 years and have taught for all these years at all levels: children, GCSE, Highers level, University level, and adult classes both vocational and leasure/tourist.
My qualifications include a ESOL-Celta (Univ. of Cambridge) in teaching English as a Foreign Language to children and adults; a degree in English language and literature, as well as French language and literature; a PhD in Italian Studies. I have had mostly experience of teaching at University level in both language and culture (literature and cinema) in the last 10 years where my teaching ranges from beginners through to advanced level of Italian Language; and all levels of culture tutoring; translation studies.

Tutoring Approach:

Approach to tutoring varies from objective to objective.
Language in my opinion should be taught in a full immersion style, especially when it is targeting groups of people who are doing it for either vocational or personal reasons.
Tutoring of subjects such as languages with an objective such as GCSE or Highers or indeed University exams must take into account the syllabus that students must complete in order to reach their target: i.e. pass exams and, at the same time, learn in an effective though 'unforgettable' way. The majority of classes must be delivered in the target language, however in order to meet timing of syllabus coverage and exams some of the concept must be strengthened in the student's language.
In an ideal world, where no exams or timed targets exist, then tutoring of a language should happen 100% in the target language.

Personal Description:
I am have graduated with a First Class degree Actuarial Science at London School of Economics.
I have achieved A*A*A*A in my recent A Level results and have also represented my country in various mathematics competition which include me winning an Honourable Mention in Asia Pacific Mathematics Olympiad.
Have also achieved Gold Medal in National Physics Competition in my country.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously volunteered with the Salvation Army and had taught GCSE students over there. Overall it went quite well and I saw improvement in their ability to answer questions and attitude towards the subject.
I have also been an assistant Mathematics Olympiad coach. This job required me to lecture some of the best students in Malaysia so that they can score well in national competitions.
Thus, I believe I am able to teach students of different abilities.

Tutoring Approach:

I usually start with the basics. I believe that with a good basic, the student would then be able to improve him/herself to be better instead of just idly solving a question and showing the steps to the student.
Also, I would try to include real life application if its possible so that the student remain interested and understand more about the things being studied.

Personal Description:
Imagination; innovation; inspiration - tuition tailored to the individual and designed not just to educate, but to inspire!

Annabel is a professional and capable tutor who has many years experience working with children, teenagers and adults. Highly motivated, creative and intuitive, she puts enjoyment at the heart of every lesson and believes everybody has the potential to improve and excel. Annabel has a DBS clearance and also has a certificate in 'Level 3 Safeguarding Children'.

Annabel effectively tailors every lesson to the individual and is able to utilise her skills in order to ensure every tutee is given tuition to suit their personal learning style. Equally adept with pre-schoolers and GCSE students, Annabel enjoys the challenge and subsequent rewards that come from working with a wide age-range. Specialist tuition for those with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia is offered to encourage confidence and proficiency when learning new ideas and concepts.

IMPORTANT NOTES

★ Tuition is carried out at Annabel's own venue. People learn more effectively outside of their home environment and also this enables Annabel to keep session costs down. All tutees are entitled to an introductory session (normally priced) before paying for a block of five or ten sessions. Online tuition is offered for those who cannot travel to the venue.

★ Hourly rates for secondary students increase if Annabel has to do extra preparation, or buy additional materials, and all KS3, GCSE and EFL students will be given an induction before a set price is given (this is never over £23 per hour for KS3 and £25 per hour for GCSE/EFL). EFL lessons cover those who are working to at least a 'Lower Elementary Level' and, unfortunately, Annabel is unable to offer English tuition to those who speak only single words, or no English.

Personal Description:
I've recently returned from New Zealand where I spent a year working in a prestigious secondary school. This year fueled my desire to teach. I've completed a BSc in Sport & Exercise Sciences and I'm currently studying part time at masters level. I will start a PGCE in September 2016 and become a PE teacher upon completion.

I want to tutor because it is a great way to gain experience whilst earning some money to pay my way through my studies. I'd also like to help those in a similar situation as I once was, I got little support from my PE teacher during A levels as he focused on the better performers rather than those looking to excel academically. I wasn't able to afford a tutor and got no other help, this led to me failing to achieve my target grade. I'd like to help people achieve their aims and not feel disappointed (and in my case anxious that I might not get into uni) like I did.

My particular area of expertise is the physiology of sport, I've always been fascinated with anatomy and the way the body works. I've gained a lot of experience working in schools and tutoring in recent years and, as such, feel confident in tutoring all areas of PE at GCSE and A level.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching in all tiers of the educational system. This ranges from coaching and PPA cover in primary schools to work and placements in secondary and SEN schools. I also have experience of providing sports science support to semi-professional and university athletes.

I have also gained a lot of one to one tutoring experience within schools and homes helping tutees, including some that had previously failed, to pass at both GCSE and A level.

Tutoring Approach:

I don't think you can describe my approach in one specific way. I think, like all teaching, tutors should adapt the way they teach dependant on the individuals learning style and needs. Therefore the only word I could use is flexible.

Personal Description:
Having completed a PGCE from the University of Oxford, I am a qualified Mathematics teacher, currently working at one of the top schools in the country. Tutoring is not something I just do on the side of another full time job; teaching Mathematics is my passion and career. During my Undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Warwick, I have spent time teaching Mathematics at schools in England and South Africa. Having worked as a private tutor for over five years, I provide top quality teaching that is tailored to the needs of each individual pupil. I am passionate about the teaching of Mathematics and seek to instil not just a deep relational understanding, but also an enthusiasm for Mathematics into his pupils.

Teaching Experience:

BSc in Mathematics, University of Warwick
PGCE in Mathematics, Keble College, Oxford
2 years teaching at one of the top boys' schools in the country (at present)
Private Mathematics tutor for over five years

Tutoring Approach:

It is my belief that every child has potential to achieve excellent results at school mathematics if they are provided with the correct support and work ethic. It is my aim to spend time with your child in order to design an individual teaching programme that will allow them to develop their strengths and work on the gaps in their knowledge. My tutoring is much more than supervising a child's school work or simply providing them with extra worksheets. As a full time Mathematics teacher, I can ensure that you will not only be getting a tutor who is incredibly dedicated, but also a teacher who has been trained and is practicing mathematics teaching at on the finest schools in the country.

Personal Description:
Hello and welcome to my profile! It's great to have you here!

OK, so I'll tell you a little about myself… My name is Aman. I am a qualified EFL/ESL teacher and I have been working abroad for the last 16 years in different countries from Thailand to Dubai.

For the last 5 years I was working with the British Council as an academic manager in Qatar. Here I was managing educational programmes and a team of teachers, which I loved! I provided training for teachers and worked on curriculum development.

When I am not working, I love movies, music, socialising and meeting new people and learning about new cultures! I am also a big coffee drinker.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 15 years experience teaching English as a foreign language.

I have taught students of all levels from beginner to advanced and have worked with students from all over the world helping them to improve and develop their general English language skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking by designing lessons to bring out their full potential.

In addition to teaching general English, my ELT specialism for my Cambridge DELTA was Exam Preparation Classes. Therefore, I have solid experience and knowledge of helping learners prepare for the IELTS exam and get the band they want by focusing on the strategies needed in each module. Moreover, I can also help you prepare for the Cambridge First (FCE) exam.

Tutoring Approach:

Although, the heading states 'Approach to Tutoring', I look at it as 'Our Approach to Learning'.

Together, we will look at YOUR English language goals, and the best way to achieve them, as every learner has different needs.

Lessons are learner-centred, that means I do not teach in a 'lecture' style, but provide opportunities for you to produce and practise language and then look at ways to further develop and improve that language. It is important for me that you feel comfortable and relaxed in these sessions. Lessons should be enjoyable and engaging for you (and me!).

There is error correction throughout lessons, but this is where you will self-correct with my guidance making you more aware of which areas need more focus.

Depending on your level, I use a range of materials from coursebooks, internet, newspapers, magazines to podcasts and videos.

I will give you regular homework, which will help to reinforce what you have learnt and give you more independence in using English. My aim is for you to feel more confident in any situation where you have to use English.

Feel free to contact me and let's talk about what you need. You can ask me any questions and I'll be happy to explain.

There is no obligation and don't worry, I don't bite!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Aman
