Personal Description:
- I am a fifth year student studying Medicine in London. I have completed 4 years clinical training and basic sciences, and I am currently undertaking an intercalated BSc before my final year. I have a passion for Biology and German, and I try to use both in my every day life as a medical student!

- My A levels were in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and German.
- I received all my secondary education at Dr Challoner's High school for girls in Little Chalfont.
- I am friendly, open and approachable, and as a young female, many students (particularly school age girls) find the lessons with me comfortable and fun.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for 3 years, and really enjoy teaching. I teach younger years at medical school, as well as school students, especially in German and Biology. I like to focus on areas that the student finds hard, and work in a way that they understand and enjoy - for me, learning is all about having fun and loving your subject, which comes with a bit of effort over a period of time. I think that every student can learn to enjoy their subjects, and I hope I can be the one to inspire them.

Tutoring Approach:

I individualise my approach to tutoring taking into account the student's learning needs and objectives. I really enjoy teaching and I hope to help students achieve their potential.

I usually obtain practise questions and notes before the lesson to ensure the tutoring time is spent as productively as possible, depending on what topic the student suggests in the previous lessons.

I have slots available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Friday, Saturday and Sunday - daytime and evening. Please contact me if you would like to organise a suitable time and place. Thank you.

I am 36 years old and hold a Masters degree from Oxford University.

Teaching Experience:

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching uses traditional methods and lively interaction. I expect the student to complete tasks between lessons. Without repetition and revision no-one can be expected to remember. .

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Spanish-EFL as an (online -Skype-one to one) private tutor, at home and at schools for 15 years so i have experience in the role.
I have worked as a translator-interpreter for 8 years.
Currently,i am living in UK and i work as an (online-Skype-one to one private Spanish teacher, at home and as a translator-interpreter.

I uually help students to prepare GCSE, A-Level. They usually get very good marks.

I also help students to prepare their trips or enjoy their favourite hobby: learning languages. They can speak and travel with confidence to Spain or South America in a short time!

It is a real pleasure to help them to make their dreams come true.

My students are really happy with my services!
I also can provide references-reviews from students.

Tutoring Approach:

My method is easy, direct, creative and fast. I focus on conversation and grammar-( how to create sentences to be able to speak and write faster and correctly -oral, listening, comprehension and repetition).

Every language is logic and as babies, the mechanism is to repeat sentences to understand them and memorize them . We can start speaking quick and without mistakes, once we understand the structure of the sentence: -verb tenses, how to create sentences, vocabulary, in writing and speaking , oral, listening and repetition-, in a funny way so the students ,enjoy learning the language and at the same time they learn it faster.
I offer a professional teaching service with good results.

Personal Description:
Of my Law, Sociology and Maths students 25% attained an A*and 35% attained an A grade last year. I have extensive experience delivering the year 7 to 11 math curriculum to both children and adults, Law and Sociology at all levels. I hold a Law degree, a PGCE, a teaching qualification for the delivery of Maths, a Masters degree in Sociology of Education and am currently studying for a PhD in Sociology of Education. Very friendly and able to identify the individual learning needs of my students.

Teaching Experience:

During my six years of employment in schools and colleges, I have taught AS/A2 Law and Sociology to students aged 16 - 19 and Maths to younger learners. Students have consistently attained grades that rival private sector provision. In my role I hope to improve the prospects of students who desire places at university. Further to this I have tutored Law and Sociology at undergraduate level, ensuring students attain 2.1 outcomes.

My specialist areas of interest are international law, European union law, human rights, discrimination policy, religious freedoms/speech, reform and sociology.

Tutoring Approach:

I have received three consecutive `excellent` reports on my practice in the classroom.

I deliver lessons that are prepared with up to date knowledge of developments in the law and case studies often contain a Welsh dimension. Hand-outs and PowerPoint resources will always accompany lessons.

Prefer to keep things informal and friendly. Prefer to deliver in 2-3 hour teaching blocks.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly English male tutor, aged 60, retired from a career in IT, but with a life-long interest in the English language and its quirks. My interest in teaching languages developed from my own experience of learning Spanish, in particular practising with Spanish people and finding myself in turn explaining to them how English works ... !

Teaching Experience:

My experience of English teaching ranges from teaching young children with almost no English, to teaching adults with a very good level of English (but maybe not a good accent!) I also previously worked as an ESOL Adult Education tutor for Northampton Council.

My experience of teaching Spanish includes teaching friends and colleagues on a more ad-hoc basis, in addition to giving private tuition for small groups or individuals, usually beginners. My level of Spanish is sufficient to enable me to teach beginners, and my experience of teaching English together with the insights gained from my own Spanish classes together with my enthusiasm for the language enable me to teach in an interesting and effective way.

Tutoring Approach:

The initial level of skill and the target knowledge will vary for each person and it is vital to understand this as the first stage. Teaching needs to then be tailored to provide a gradual progression towards the targets. Classes must provide a variety of challenging elements, mixed always with a bit of fun or something "offbeat". What drives me is the enthusiasm to convey and explain my own fascination with language, whether English or Spanish.

Personal Description:
I live in Cumbria and have a range of work experiences to draw on, including researching for the BBC daily survey and the Centre for Social Policy Research and Development. I have also worked as a housemother for children with learning difficulties, as an advocate within the voluntary sector and as an advocacy development worker.

After gaining my PhD, my more recent work has been as an Education lecturer in higher education which has also involved me in a number of research initiatives, tutoring undergraduate and postgraduate students and working on research governance and ethics. I have a wide range of peer reviewed publications and a number of current book contracts. I believe education is a right for all people at all levels and that it is best viewed as a lifelong experience.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked at a college teaching A level Sociology and more recently at a Russell Group university for 8 years teaching a wide variety of topics to undergraduate and postgraduate students including sociology, social policy and politics, social psychology, social theory, person centred approaches, gender studies, disability theory, social research, critical thinking, communication & study skills. My last two national student survey results gave 93% and 100% for quality.

I have also previously taught on women returning to work courses through the University of Lancaster as well as youth and community and training the trainers courses.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a student centred approach to tutoring. Each person has different needs and different approaches to learning. Initially we will assess your needs and preferences together and work out how to deliver teaching in the most effective way for you to achieve your goals. I also encourage a proactive approach where students learn to take responsibility for their learning in between person to person tuition. This is especially important for students going on to university education.

Personal Description:
I am a tutor of maths and physics. I mostly teach A-level and university but sometimes I teach GCSE. This is done online via a virtual classroom (WizIQ). I have taught students between the ages of 15 and 26 from a wide range of backgrounds with a wide range of abilities and am fully CRB checked. Depending on the student's requirements, I can also teach introductory computer programming, specifically Python and Fortran.

I am based in the Coventry/Kenilworth area doing my PhD in Plasma Physics at Warwick University. Most my tutoring is done using the WizIQ virtual classroom and Skype. This means I can teach students anywhere in the country from anywhere in the world (and indeed I do). I can also offer face to face tutoring either at your home if you live within cycling distance of me, or on Saturdays in my office at the university of Warwick.

As well as my PhD studies, I am also working towards a post-graduate teaching qualification which I expect to obtain this year. It is worth a sixth of a masters degree, and will grant me associate fellow membership to the higher education academy.

In addition to this, I am also studying level one Japanese and have a fondness for languages in general.

Testimonials:

Luke - I am thankful to Ben for always encouraging me to learn more and work hard! I used to be scared of taking a maths test but thanks to Ben I can take a test without worry. Ben is very good at explaining things when you don't understand them. In my opinion if you struggle with maths Ben is the best tutor to teach and support you!

Kathy - Having Ben as a tutor for my son gave him the confidence in this subject, and he was a completely different person when his GCSE came round. He now has a great attitude toward his Maths subject, and this was all down to Ben and his tutoring.

Dean - Ben was able to improve my mathematics skills in a short space of time when my job was overcasting my University work. He changed his schedule around me and tutored me late at night to get me through my exams. He has a solid understanding of mathematics and physics and importantly, he can break it down and make it easier to digest without hesitation. He has always gone the extra mile and I have started enjoying mathematics thanks to his tuition. Highly recommended.

Sanjay - I found Ben extremely proactive yet flexible and understanding at the same time. Authentic and genuine are some of the words that suitably describes Ben. All that with plenty of humour too makes Ben a highly desirable tutor!

Tutoring Approach:

I find teaching extremely enjoyable, not only is it very rewarding to see students make progress, but it also keeps me sharp when doing my own physics research! I like to be quite informal with my tutoring, as I find this helps to re-enforce the knowledge they have learned in the school classroom. I tutor at the pace the student requires, before each lesson starts I will have spoken with the student and decided what I'd like for them to achieve in the lesson. If the student should happen to struggle on a particular topic however, I would devote more time to that.

I have recently started to get involved tutoring students who would like to take their GCSE or A-level exams earlier, and have not yet been taught the subject/s in a classroom. My awareness of all GCSE and A-level syllabi makes this possible, as I can create detailed, structured learning programs to facilitate the student's independent learning.

I also have a wealth of experience teaching Maths and Physics to early year undergraduate university students, particularly those taking summer resit exams that are in need of a "crash course".

A detailed C.V and a scanned copy of my CRB certificate is available upon request.

Personal Description:
Whether you are a language beginner, advanced learner or want to brush up on your casual language skills, I am here to help you in French, German, Italian, Spanish or English as a Foreign Language (EFL), through one-to-one or online tuition.

If you are pursuing a teacher training course (e.g. PGCE), or are a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) in French, German or Italian, I can help you prepare your lessons and ensure you have the language skills you need to teach with confidence.

DBS checked, I have over 4 years of varied language teaching, and Head of Department, experience and am now involved in further language study and tutoring.
My passion is sharing the enjoyment and satisfaction that language learning brings and helping students of all ages to reach their full potential, getting you to where you need to be. My hobbies include cooking, travelling around Europe, long walks, gardening and geocaching.

Teaching Experience:

Qualified Modern Languages Teacher & Head of Modern Languages.

Qualifications:
Aberystwyth University (2007-11) French, German, Italian: 2:1, including Distinction.
University of Gloucestershire (2011-12) PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in secondary French, German.
The TEFL Academy Norwich (2016) Teaching English as a Foreign Language (Distinction).

Tutoring Approach:

Language lessons built on years of teaching experience.

N.B. for adult learners: `Adult` level can range from Beginner right through to Advanced level, so just get in touch if you are not sure and I will be happy to advise on the price. The stated rate is if you are a beginner.

N.B. for all learners: Depending on your language goals, objectives and choices, some lessons may vary in difficulty because of their specific objectives, and therefore fall into different level categories (see below for pricing categories). I base the levels upon the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the international standard for describing language abilities. Overall, lessons will tend to fall within a single level category, but it is also common that the context focus is switched to different, more challenging, levels due to the progress made. If you are unsure which specific level will be applicable to you, or want to check in advance how pricing may vary with particular lessons, please do not hesitate to contact me for further information where I will be happy to advise.

Upon finding out what your languages goals are, I offer a personalised learning programme to suit your style, with lessons adapted to focus on specific areas. I ensure learning is not only active and engaging, but also relevant and progress-focused to help you understand the bigger picture and in-depth components of your language learning, and to stretch your abilities with proven results. As well as listening, reading, writing and grammar, I build in a lot of conversational practice to enable you to move from strength to strength with confidence.

To ensure continuous progress, consistency is essential and I recommend 2 hours of tuition per week, with 2 hours of homework. I find that tutoring over a longer period is a much more successful way to engage learners and keep, rather than exhaust, their attention.

Competitive Lesson Pricing:
50% off first session (consultation and learning introduction.

My hourly rates include full personalisation of resources to your needs; including planning time, printing and making of resources. Please note that I am able travel to you for your lessons; my travel costs from my location are as follows: 0-5 miles = £0.00; 6-9 miles = £3.00; 10-15 miles = £5.00; 16-20 miles = £7.00; 21-25 miles = £9.00.

Please contact me to find out about how you can benefit from a range of discounts available.

How to start:
I arrange to meet learners in a location that suits us both. Unless you are an adult learner, I will need to meet both you and your parent. The initial meeting is half price and I start by giving you further information and assessing your current language level.

For companies who require their staff to learn German / French / Italian / English, I can provide reports on progress as required. Please contact me for more information.

I look forward to helping you learn with confidence.

Personal Description:
I am someone who has always been drawn to working with children because I am generally passionate about their education and development. I have routinely worked with children in different capacities from volunteering with a SEN playgroup, to working as both a tutor and teacher. I am an easy-going person who finds it easy to relate to families from all walks of life, and take great joy in getting to know people.

Teaching Experience:

I have two years' experience of teaching children of all ages from KS1 all the way up to A-Level. Half of that time was spent working for a private tuition company, while the other half was spent working as a supply teacher. I have also invigilated a number of exams including: 11+ selection tests, internal end of year exams, GCSE exams and A-Level exams.

The benefit of working for both a private tuition company and a school is that I know how to engage with children and young people on a personal level whilst intimately knowing the expectations that their teachers will have. Finally whilst I lack formal teaching qualifications, I have benefited from in-house training sessions and have wealth of experience of educating a number of different groups of children.

Tutoring Approach:

When teaching I tailor my approach to the needs and ability of the child because every child learns differently. I try to get to know my students personally so that I can understand what motivates them to learn and, likewise, what inhibits them. Some children lack confidence, others lack a challenge, some are nervous about exams whilst others couldn't care less about them! Therefore I endeavour to provide a personal learning experience that is going to develop the children I teach both academically and personally.

Personal Description:
A qualified maths teacher, DBS checked, with a first class honours degree. I've worked successfully with over 250 students.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored students at KS3, GCSE and A level. This has included 1 to 1 support, past paper practice and revisiting of skills and topics to build confidence and motivation as students work towards their exams.

I have a first class maths degree from the Open University and a PGCE in teaching secondary mathematics from the University of Southampton (2016) for which I was awarded the Dean's List.

I currently tutor maths full time at GCSE, A level and KS3.

Tutoring Approach:

I am approachable, developing positive working relationships with both students and parents and I offer tutoring bespoke to your needs. I can teach or recap topics from KS3 through to A level and/or provide focused exam preparation.

My tutoring fully addresses the challenges presented by the style of question and content of the 9-1 GCSE exam that starts in 2017.

The tutoring I offer will unlock your potential to get the best grade possible in the available time. As well as maths content, additional skills addressed include exam technique, timing and confidence.

Personal Description:
2008 National Teaching Award Winner (Southern Region.)
Volunteer linesman every Sunday - for my 3 sons' football teams.
Keen cyclist - I've cycled further than the distance around the equator as I commuted to and from school.
Animal lover - I enjoy jogging with Scout, my rescue dog.
Educational author - I wrote a maths assessment book that was sold in WHSmith.
Piano player - I accompany a large choir that performs in both the Guildhall and the Cathedral in Portsmouth.
Prioritiser - In 2010 I decided to reduce my hours so that I could spend more time with my wife!

Teaching Experience:

I have been a classroom teacher for 23 years in 3 different schools; I was head hunted for the last job and when I left it in November 2016, it was graded outstanding by OFSTED. I have predominantly worked in year 6 where I have helped to raise standards of attainment - I have been successful in accelerating progress for many pupils (particularly in maths) to double Government expectations.

I have spent most of my career as a maths manager in schools but I have also led English and science. I have been a key stage leader for over 10 years and have mentored trainee teachers who have gone on to have their own successful teaching careers.
Winning the 2008 Award for Best Primary School Teacher in the South was an amazing experience. The judges interviewed pupils, staff and parents - families who weren't able to attend the meeting were able to submit letters of support and the highlight of the whole process was getting to read these testimonials afterwards.

Tutoring Approach:

Every pupil is different: each pupil has their own particular knowledge of facts, procedures and concepts, but they are also unique in their attitude, experience, confidence and motivation. Finding a tutoring approach that best suits each child is very important and, where appropriate, I make use of the recent educational principles of 'Growth Mindset' which challenge the notion that some people are just born clever, and encourages pupils to value risk taking, criticism and effort.

Individual tuition allows time so rarely afforded in whole class lessons to track back and identify the misconceptions that can sometimes be the underlying cause of slow progress or issues with confidence. The focus of good teaching is about building all new learning onto secure foundations and making strong and varied connections between concepts.
