Personal Description:
Angela's career has spanned over twenty years of graphic design and illustration followed by ten years of marketing communications.
She lives in a 17C house in Horsham with a studio in the outbuildings. She studied art foundation and graphic design at Epsom School of Art after which she worked in London Advertising Agencies and Design Studios.

Whilst her children were small she worked as a freelance designer supplemented by the part-time teaching of art in a boys school in Isleworth and as a lecturer of advertising/design at Amersham & Nene Colleges. In 2017 she is tutor for a group of artists in Abruzzo, Italy.
Angela now paints full-time and exhibits in London & the South and recently in Rome & Miami.
She is an Associate member of the Society of Women Artists and a member of the United Society of Artists.

Teaching Experience:

Art teacher at Syon School for boys (part-time) 1974
HNC tutor for Design. Northampton College (part-time) 1990-91
Art summer school for children at my barn studio 1991
HND tutor for Design & Advertising. Amersham College (part-time) 1989-91
Private one-to-one teaching 2009- current
Art week in Spoltore, Abruzzo, Italy 23rd April-30th 2017

Tutoring Approach:

I love to teach people who want to learn. A real joy for me is when people have enthusiasm but probably lack the techniques and the training to product a piece of work that satisfies them. We are all fierce critics of our own outpourings but understanding how to improve is the first step to feeling good about what we do. So many people have said to me that they would like to paint and draw but feel hopelessly inadequate when it comes to actually doing it. I can say that without doubt, all my students at Nene college felt that over the year they had finally produced work they were proud of and were amazed they could do this. I am a strong believer in drawing skills underpinning whatever style of painting is applied and so my starting point is always training to really see the world around us.

Personal Description:
Hi I'm Heather!

I'm from London and my favourite colour is green.

I hold a First Class Degree in English Literature and Drama from Manchester University. I am also a trained actress.

I've been tutoring for over 5 years, working with students aged 6 years, up to 18, supporting them through KS1-4, GCSE and A'Level/IB curricula. I have also taught English as a foreign language. The content of my tutorials is entirely student- led; i.e I work towards the individual's goals and learning styles. I am experienced in the teaching of essay writing, exam preparation and textual analysis/understanding. The most important thing I can do as a tutor is to empower the student to feel confident in their own abilities and thoughts.

I have worked with students of A Level and GCSE in a diverse range of texts including Victorian Gothic literature, the American Novel, pre and post 1900 poetry, modern drama and theatre studies, post -colonial literature, dystopian literature. All of my students have achieved their personal desired A-C grades, and gained acceptance into the university of their choice.

I have 2 years experience of home schooling Key Stage 2 and 3 literacy and numeracy, with an excellent overview of the curriculum and a variety of techniques to engage different learners. I have worked closely with young learners with dyslexia and Asperger's syndrome.

I also teach drama school audition preparation, public speaking skills and methods of overcoming academic anxiety. I h

-TEFL introductory course- Cambridge
-Creative writing teacher training with The Ministry of Stories
-Drama facilitator, Hackney Shed Theatre Company

Tutoring Approach:

I believe tutoring should be a dialogue, not a dictatorship. Each lesson would be highly organized to cater for the requirements and ability level of the individual student. I plan all sessions to include a range of discussion, demonstration, exercises, review of work and homework tasks if required. Crucial to my teaching approach is an easy, flexible engagement with the individual- working to their learning style and objectives, and encouraging the pupil to draw out their own understandings rather than enforce rote learning.

History- Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Russia from Revolution through to the cold war. Apartheid in South Africa, the Suffragette movement, the history of British Education, Chartism. Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher and have an Honours Degree in Languages: Spanish and English, The Cambridge Proficiency Certificate in English, the CLTA certificate and the Level 5 Diploma in teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DLLTS). I recently completed the Level 3 QCF Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.
I am a very personable and open-minded person who enjoys working with people from different cultures and different ages. I am patient, dedicated and understanding person who is really committed to my job. I always try to get the best from my learners by creating and adapting my own teaching materials and my lessons are results driven.
Finally, I have a great passion for my job which I really love; moreover, having been a language student myself, I am fully aware of my learners` needs and possible difficulties when learning languages.

Teaching Experience:

I have seven years' experience teaching Spanish at different levels and to various age groups, and I am fully aware of the strategies which are appropriate depending on the students` level and age. I currently teach the NVQ and GCSE Spanish groups at Croydon College. I also teach a Beginners and an Intermediate group at CEL: Community Education Lewisham. I taught Advanced and Conversational Spanish to a group of 6 private students, at Microsoft.
I also taught Italian level 1 at Goldsmiths' University and Advanced and Conversational Italian at MAE: Merton Community Education. Also I teach Family Learning Italian at CEL: Community Education Lewisham, and Beginners Italian at Bromley Adult Education.
I am a Visiting Tutor for the CLTA at Goldsmisth's University of London. The CLTA is a programme run at Goldsmiths' College and at the Cervantes Institute, London. I teach both groups various sessions related to all aspects of adult language learning: learning styles, language learning theories, languages specific skills, practical aspects of language teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I speak three languages - Spanish, English and Italian - fluently and I have the capacity to read languages across a broad range of abilities, aspects and requirements. I have been living in UK for about 10 years and I have a good understanding of its culture and customs which I think is very important because it helps a lot in understanding the learners` needs and backgrounds. I am able to handle different levels in the same class; for this reason, I like to bring different activities suitable for different levels and ages to my lessons. I think students should never get bored and that learning should be supported and stimulating all the time during a teaching session. I have a good understanding of what is involved in language learning and this allows me to create manageable lesson plans and engaging teaching materials.

Teaching Experience:

Although semi-retired, I am still passionate about science and after gaining my PGCE teaching qualification in 2012, I am now embarking on helping GCSE and A level students with private tuition. My vast experience in training postgraduate students and working with scientists in solving real problems both academically and in industry brings in an invaluable real life dimension to the learning experience of the students.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching is conducted in a relaxed but studious atmosphere and is tailored to individual needs with realistic targets. I use effective questioning and past examination papers for assessment which allow students to monitor their own progress.
I was a 16 years old migrant from Hong Kong when I first came to England in 1973, so I can certainly relate to problems such as racism, misunderstanding of and by others, loneliness, lack of empathy and learning barriers.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher of modern languages who combines bringing up a family with teaching French. I developed my love for languages from an early age. Coming from a bilingual home background I appreciate how language learning is an integral part of a child's development. My experience training in French Immersion education in Alberta, Canada has also added to my understanding of language acquisition and language learning.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified French teacher with over fifteen years teaching experience. I have taught MFL in both primary and secondary schools from Early Years/Foundation Stage to GCSE level and beyond. I have run after school French clubs for primary school children and have also taught French to adults in Adult-Ed evening classes.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a distinctive approach to language teaching which strives to develop the confidence and creative skills of language learners in the four key areas of language learning by employing a variety of teaching strategies depending on the age and preferred learning style of each student.
Firstly I try to get to know my students, and establish what they already know and can do in the target language.
Then we build on their strengths while at the same time identifying areas of weakness that need to be worked on.
Study is organised taking into consideration the aims of the student and the intended length of study. I provide homework at the end of each lesson with follow-up advice and guidance on each piece of work. Preparation for examinations is systematic, concentrating on topics and language tasks specific to examination requirements.
Above all I endeavour to impart to my students a life-long love for language learning.

Personal Description:
I'm a graduate-entry third year medical student at Imperial College London. I graduated from the University of Sheffield with an upper second class honours degree in Biomedical Sciences in 2012. In between my two degrees I worked as a Medical Assistant in Paediatrics A&E at St George's Hospital, I admire the energy that young people have and found working with children so rewarding. My education and work life has equipped me with solid communication skills, and the ability to work with a vast range of people. Pursuing a path in science has required a lot of motivation, whilst studying for my degrees I consider that my organisational and time-keeping skills have been vital. Despite my background in science I have always maintained a creative side too, and have a keen interest in literature and the arts.

Teaching Experience:

Taking part in numerous voluntary projects has given me a lot of opportunity to teach, both one-to-one and in group scenarios. Whilst volunteering at my local hospital I helped on the children's ward to ensure the patients were not missing out on their education. This included helping children of all ages with their coursework and school syllabus'. I took part in a project based in South Africa teaching at an orphanage, this was a challenge due to the limited resources available, and a language barrier. However, using innovative ways as a team we were able to conduct lessons teaching English, Numeracy and Music that were accessible and enjoyable for the children. During my university career I have completed assignments presenting my own research or ideas to groups of students and tutors, this required explaining concepts in a clear and concise manner. Over the past two years I have tutored several students privately. I have found this experience rewarding and am very proud of their achievements.

Tutoring Approach:

I am always keen to share my enthusiasm in the subject that I am teaching. I am aware of the importance of maintaining a student's interest in the subject. In order to do this, I believe it is vital to assess each student's style and tailor my teaching towards their individual needs. I am very patient, and am happy to explain concepts in numerous different ways to ensure that a student is comfortable. I approach work in a professional manner, and appreciate the importance of time-keeping and dependability.

Personal Description:
I am a professional, conservatoire trained, theatre director, drama and LAMDA teacher based in London. My greatest strengths are my creativity on stage, ability to manage and communicate with people and to generally be an effective leader of different age groups, from Age 5 to Age 65.

My theatre voyage stydying MFA Theatre Directing at East 15 Acting School provided Jacques Lecoq puppet, clown and physical training and core modules examining Shakespeare, musical theatre, opera, comedy, contemporary British writing and actor training which has informed my practice as a teacher and director.

A huge part of my study was on theatre of the East, where I visited Bali, Indonesia for one term to study at Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI Denpasar). Here I had intensive training on forms such as Topeng Masked Dance, Legong Dance, Wayang Kulit and an introduction to Balinese Hinduism and performance cultures along with the opportunity to collaborate with actors, directors and filmmakers, and world-famous industry professionals.

I believe my administrative experience, my sales and marketing capabilities, together with my teaching and theatre qualifications with a healthy dose of imagination and a playful nature have all added to my effectiveness as an director, accomplished administrator, communicator and good all rounder.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked consistently in London theatres and in schools over the last 7 years and most recently have been working as the Artistic Director of Fusion Theatre Company, a company I founded, developing shows, workshops, education packs and training programs for pupils and teachers linking with National Curriculum Topics in order to utilise drama as a tool for learning. Most recently I have set up a LAMDA training section of the company, offering group sessions, duologue and monologue sessions for primary and secondary school.

Although I do the majority of my work within Theatre in Education and drama training, I also am currently the Associate Director of Maverick Theatre, whos mandate is to create reimaginations of classic literature in unexpected places.

Prior to setting up my own company, I was an assistant director, teaching assistant and technical operator at Trent College, for a number of shows, abridging and cutting scripts, marketing the school's productions, organising the shared diary and assisting with general curriculum work, organising year 9 classes and office administration. During that time I also worked as a LAMDA teacher with 14 students of my own, all of whom successfully achieved Grades 2 and 3 at the end of the summer term. During my second year I was given the opportunity to direct my own productions, as well as a substantial pay increase. I directed a sixth form production of "Two" by Jim Cartwright, followed by The Sixth Form Review [a comedy sketch show], a production of "Shakers" by John Godber, and a production of "Equus" by Peter Shaffer, and finally an outdoor theatre production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" with a year 7 group. Two years of hands-on experience in education taught me the fundamental rules of theatre, production, discipline and how to motivate others to give their best performance.

Theatre plays a vital role in education to nurture and create opportunities for young people, using the arts as a vehicle to understand the world they live in and the people they are as well as develop crucial life skills. I believe that the most effective way to learn is through theatre and performance and because of this I have an incredible love for youth theatre and working with children and find it extremely rewarding.

Since my study, I have been doing workshops and acting courses with students from University upwards. Whether it be a specific genre of theatre or audition pieces.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is completely guided by the person I am working with. My natural instincts as a teacher are to get the student to relate to the material as well as they can by giving them something to compare it with in their own life. As a student of LAMDA since age five and from my extensive experience as a tutor throughout my career I discovered that by adopting a personal approach to teaching and mentoring, identifying the individual strengths of each student, and harnessing and working with those strengths, I was able to yield some incredible results not just within primary and secondary school but utilising this practice for all ages.

Personal Description:
I am a professional Artist and Teacher, specialising in Ceramics, Craft, Drawing, Textiles and Creative Writing.

Throughout my crafts and art work, I aim to change the context of found and recycled objects; whether it is finding a new purpose for unwanted books or creating narratives using my porcelain figures. I intend to capture the beauty that is no longer seen in unused objects. This concept is also what draws me to making with clay; using a raw and natural material to create something new and beautiful. I aim to celebrate how aged and recycled objects can be revived into a new and innovative creation.

Throughout my figurative illustrations I am greatly influenced by children's drawings and how they lack perspective and proportion. They are not realistic images, however, with our symbolic awareness as human beings, we are able to recognise the qualities of a figure within ourselves. I believe these imprecisions are something to be admired.

2014/2015 Artist Workshop Leader, UCAN Centre

Personal Description:
I have a passion for learning and I want to inspire this enjoyment of learning Biology in my students. I am patient, understanding and supportive and have a friendly and encouraging approach. I have just graduated with a 1st in Biological Sciences from Oxford and previously achieved an A* in my Biology A-level. I am studying for an Msc in Conservation this year, and as a young adult who is still studying themselves, I feel that can empathise with my students.

Teaching Experience:

I am a Level 2 tennis coach and have been teaching tennis for 6 years. As a result, I have a lot of experience working with children ranging in age from 3 to 16 years. Many of the skills involved in tennis coaching are also important for tutoring including versatile communication skills, thorough lesson planning, imaginative teaching techniques and patience.

I've had work experience in a junior school where I assisted with classroom teaching. Furthermore, at a week volunteering in Hyde Park with the Royal Parks Foundation, I assisted with groups of primary school pupils on Biology school trips.

Tutoring Approach:

I use flexible teaching methods depending on the type of learning a student responds to best. I assist with particular topics and concepts and exam technique but I also believe that a little bit of discussion beyond the syllabus can make the content more exciting and relevant, thereby assisting in learning. I will encourage independent thinking, installing self-belief in the students whilst always giving them all the support they need. For those students preparing for exams, I have a repertoire of tried and tested revision techniques which I will incorporate into my tutoring.

As well as offering formal tutoring in biological topics, I would be more than happy to conduct discussion sessions to provide a greater depth and breadth to the subject. This could be particularly useful for students considering Biology for further study or those who just enjoy learning about Biology as much as I do.

Personal Description:
I am 17 years old, and I'm a committed, hardworking and bubbly student. I enjoy many hobbies which range from physical to other, more relaxing ones; I like to play football or netball, however I also enjoying reading and listening to music. I am also a very social person and enjoy going out with friends on a regular basis.

Teaching Experience:

At school, I help teach a before school maths tutoring club which allows younger students, who are having difficulty with the subject, find the help that they need to understand topics that they are less confident in. Furthermore, I assist in teaching a History class and a Drama class twice a week which I find really enjoyable as I am also passionate about these subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

Depending on the student's mindset, I am able to adapt depending on which method of teaching helps the student thrive, for example, if the student is a more visual learner, then I will make diagrams or videos or occasionally models to help whereas if the student is a kinesthetic learner, then I will allow the student to lead the lesson as I guide them. Although I may seem young, I find that my age allows me to connect better with students as it wasn't long ago that I was in their position and I remember how daunting some things seemed.
