I am an experienced Lecturer in English Language and English Literature including the new specifications. I have been an examiner for OCR 'A' level English and AQA 'A' Level English for many years and have also moderated GCSE English examination papers. I tutor at all levels, from basic literacy, through to dissertations for under graduates including subjects not associated with the subject of English. I run a Creative Writing class and assist people to write novels and poetry and a variety of other genres. Teaching Experience:

I have lectured English at both 'A' level and GCSE levels at a further education college. I teach a Creative Writing class, assisting people to write novels, poetry and a variety of other genres. I have also taught basic literacy (reading and writing) and have taught English to students of other languages (TESOL).

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching Experience:

My name is Anton. I have master`s degree in Physics from University of New Hampshire. Besides my background as researcher I have four years of experience as a London based tutor. I primary teach A-level physics and most of my students were taking OCR, AQA, or Edexcel exams. I occasionally teach GCSE and University level subjects, such as Mechanics, Electrodynamics, and Quantum Mechanics. Currently I teach part-time in a private school.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is flexible. Usually I easy detect weak spots in students understanding and this gives me chance to focus on the most relevant topics for a particular student. I carefully prepare myself for each session, and my goal is to make the student involved in the lesson not just leaving him to listen to me. In my opinion the Math involved in A-Level physics is not hard at all, and many students that are good in Math think they can handle physics relatively easy, but this is most of the time not true. I apply extra effort, in my lessons to make sure that student understands the physics concepts not just memorizing facts. My observation is that if the student goal is to achieve an A grade it requires at least two hours of tutoring per week throughout the academic year, of course sometimes one hour is Okay, and some ambitious student ask for more than two hours per week. In any case it will give me great pleasure to help you improve your knowledge and make you feel the beauty of PHYSICS.

I specialise in getting students ready for dreaded exams, preparing them with the forensic knowledge of a text that is required to really succeed. I am an Economics graduate from Liverpool University and taught economics and business studies in secondary schools for over 10 years. Prior to teaching I worked in advertising for 10 years. I now focus on tutoring economics and business studies students and I also own two online businesses. I live in Bristol, am married with 3 children and I am passionate about helping young people achieve their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I taught Economics and Business Studies in state schools for 10 years and have also tutored students for many years. My students consistently over-perform - all students I tutored in 2015 achieved at least a grade B and improved at least one grade since I started working with them. Several improved by 3 or more grades. For example, one recent A2 Economics student went from a grade E in his January mock exam to an A* overall in June, whilst another A2 student went from a grade B to a grade A overall and achieved 100% on an AS resit paper. I am an experienced Economics examiner and am familiar with all the major exam boards. I can supply references on request (some are listed on my profile) and I have a current CRB.

Tutoring Approach:

I will always begin by discussing my tutee's individual requirements and areas of the syllabus they would like to focus on. Once these have been established, I usually start with a return to basics, teaching economic or business theory that may not have been fully understood by the student. Once they are comfortable with the concepts, I will look to build in higher order analytical and evaluation skills as well as providing real world examples. I will use a variety of teaching methods to stretch students, backed up with exam technique by practising past papers. I am happy to teach face to face for local students, however I often teach online via Skype, using a whiteboard facility, which my students can also access. This makes the sessions as interactive as meeting face to face and it also means I can tutor students who don't live in Bristol. I always encourage students to provide feedback so that they receive maximum benefit from their teaching.

''I really cannot overstate the amount Ian has helped me out with my AQA Economics A-level with AQA. After missing the most part of an entire term of Economics teaching at my school essentially all of my Economics knowledge came from Ian for my A2 exams. I had originally achieved a C-grade in AS Economics, but after Ian teaching me for only two school terms I was able to achieve two A's at 174/200 UMS in my A2 exams (the criteria for earning an A* at A-level being 180/200 UMS). "Matt only got an E grade in his February A2 mock exam and the school predicted he would get a C grade at A2. With the significant assistance from Ian, Matt achieved an A* at A2. In his other two A levels, Matt achieved Bs (he also had tutors for these). There are several reasons why Ian made the difference: 1.Being taught on Skype. Matt was initially very apprehensive about being taught on Skype rather than in person. But Skype proved really beneficial. Firstly it enabled Matt to fit in tuition at times that would just not have been possible if travel had been involved. Secondly it enabled Matt to have additional lessons when he had spare time. 2. Focussing on how to structure essay answers. The school just didn't put anywhere near enough emphasis on this crucial area. 3. Essay marking. A key aspect of A2 is exam practice. We paid Ian for essay marking which meant that Matt was effectively maximising his time with Ian. 4. Not accepting mediocrity. The school said that Matt should not retake his AS exams as he had a good B grade. Ian said he should retake as he could do better. 5. Providing positive encouragement. I have assisted friends and families with all sort of coursework from international business management, Human Resources, health and social care, early years foundation child care courses, Health and social care,nursing and GeneralSciences. One thing about academic exercises is that knowledge is transferable. The skills acquired in one area can be transferred to another subject. What is required is, understanding the concepts, have the structure laid out, have the right evidences to back up one's assertion, provide appropriate examples to support literature and make your literature flow in a coherent and consistent manner using suitable connectives.

There is a first time for everything, try a tutor out and don't get too paranoid until you test one. It is always natural to have hesitations until you become comfortable with someone new.

Teaching Experience:

My experience in working in 6 different schools has enriched my perspective towards education. I have witnessed very good teachers and terrible one's with poor teaching skills. I have worked as a science technician and teaching assistant directly involved teaching lessons when teachers are absent. I am familiar with all the various school academic curriculum for AQABA, OCR, EDEXCEL etc. I am abreast with the latest curriculum and work closely with teachers providing them with latest science experiment and practical in order to enrich the understanding of students.

My laboratory background gives me the advantage to connect abstract academic theories to reality. Few teachers actually have practical experience and rarely integrate practical in their lessons. Teaching Experience:

The only experience I have with students was in my second year of college. In collaboration with the Maths department, I ran a peer mentoring session with first years every week. This was an hour long meeting in the library or a classroom with 5-6 students, where I would help them with topics they struggled with or go over some details from their lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

I think the most important and effective way of learning is through practice of the subject. I would use the first part of a session to go over some important points to a topic and teach basic skills. Then put these into practice, going through questions, aided and unaided, including past paper questions.

A computer science graduate and former software engineer that got out of the 'rat-race' in 2001 to develop my then hobby teaching martial arts into a professional career. I now run a very successful Academy teaching martial arts, self protection, and personal development to students of all ages.

Having established the school I had the time to develop my photography to the point when in 2011 I gained a distinction from the Royal Photographic Society, and now I also spend some of my time as a professional photographer too, focussing mainly on teaching others, both individuals and group workshops.

Teaching Experience:

General:
In my former career as a software developer I was also responsible for writing technical documentation and running training courses worldwide. I'm very comfortable with planning, organising and delivering courses up to a very high standard.

Photography:
As a photographer I have been teaching now for about 5 years, I run workshops for all levels, and also individual one-to-one training tailored to students from complete novices up to those approaching Royal Society standard.

Martial Arts:
I'm a high-ranking martial arts instructor (6th degree black belt with 30 years experience) and have been teaching now for well over 20 years, with students of all ages from 5 up to those in their 60's. Alongside my own school I teach courses and seminars to groups of all sizes. I've taught in schools, worked with police and youth groups etc. I often teach private lessons to individuals, both from my own school and those with no prior experience.

Life Coaching:
Having successfully escaped the rat-race to pursue my own goals it's fair to say I've learned a lot about personal development. I've also completed a number of courses and seminars with world-class coaches such as Anthony Robbins. I now share this experience with a number of private clients for personal development and life coaching to help them with motivation, goals and productivity in their own careers.

Personal Description:

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to first identify what needs to be learned and to agree this with the student. Once this is agreed I will then form a flexible timetable for the student and to identify what we can work on lesson by lesson. I think it is important for a tutor to be open to any needs that arise during the lessons and although I think smart targets are vital, I also feel the tutor should adapt their lessons to suit the pupil.
